Everything has been turned upside down in Briar Creek. Gabe is locked in a room all by himself, trying to find a way out, but is left to wonder why his deranged twin brother would leave him there in the first place. Meanwhile, Anna is off to Westbrooke to become a blood donor so she can decide if she really loves Austin or if she only loves being a blood donor. Dan and Lexi are trying to deal with the Caroline and Gabe situation. And Mary-Kate? She has plans of her own.

I'm pleased with the outcome, but those who want a serious battle against vampires might feel slightly let down as the confrontation is brief.

Nevertheless, the chain of events before Lexi faces the horde of vampires is thrilling, even borderline exhilarating. All things considered, it makes for a delightful and fitting ending to the story!

However, the mystery of Veronica's killer remains unsolved at the story's conclusion. Or, did I overlook the answer?🤔.

What I liked:
-Lexi. When I think about how much Lexi has obviously grown since the beginning of this series, I’m simply blown away. She has become so much more mature, and more understanding, and less judgmental. She has been through a lot, and by the end of this book, it really showed. She was by far my favorite part of this book. I also liked her devotion and worry for her younger siblings. However, Lexi’s character did feel a little frigid towards the climax of the book, and I couldn’t help but think that her lack of emotions wasn’t very realistic.
-Dan. I love Dan’s character, and I love how dependable he’s been throughout the entire series, even if Lexi didn’t know he was dependable. He has a great sense of loyalty to his friends, and we see how protective he is of his sister in this book. I like the look at his family life and how it impacts him. His relationship with Lexi grew on me, too. Before, I thought it was too much, too soon, and a little overly dramatic and overpowering. But in this book, I totally bought that they were soul mates and meant to be together. Their relationship was healthy, and it was the strongest part of the book.
-Covers. The covers for this series are beautiful. They’re much nicer than a lot of the self-published books I’ve read, and I wish I could make covers that nice.

What I disliked:
-Writing style. The writing was so flat and lifeless, especially in this book. The characters didn’t really feel anything, and when they did, we were told they were feeling something. It wasn’t described to us. It was like reading about a bunch of robots, and it was so hard to keep my focus. I had to put this book down twice because I couldn’t stay focused. I’m not sure if I dislike the writing so much because I usually only read books written in first person, and I generally hate third person writing because of how impersonal if feels.
-Final battle. The climax of the story—the final battle that the other six books have been leading up to—was over in a heartbeat and was written rather poorly in my opinion. I felt no fear or danger from any of the main characters. They pretty much picked up a stake, staked a vampire, and the vampire died. There wasn’t much more description than that, and I found the lack of description jarring and boring. After building up this confrontation for like six books, it was more than a little disappointing. It was all over way too quick.
-Mary-Kate.

Overall, this was my least favorite book in the series. I disliked the writing and the action, but on the plus side, the characters grew into very likable people. The main character is strong and she has grown so much, it was worth reading the series just for that. I would recommend this book to hardcore vampire fans, especially since the books are only a dollar a piece. Well worth the money and time. Now, I'm off to read the Howl series. 2.0

Honestly, I really tried to like this series but in the end I didn't. I liked it in the beginning. The mystery was great but I couldn't get over how annoying it was for Lexi to be so conflicted over the guys she liked. I felt like the series just kind of went on a downslide after the fourth book. Things were pretty predictable and I just wasn't into it anymore. The plot minus the romance part is good but I felt with the different romances between Austin to Mary-Kate and to Anna, and from Lexi to pretty much every guy she meets was way too much. Many characters in this book are petty and selfish but honestly, I think they represent some young people in today's society pretty well.
Overall, I think this story got away from the authors. It should have ended sooner rather than stretching out into seven books.

This book felt like a bit of a letdown. I really liked the series, but after seven books, I was just expecting a little more. This book seemed too short, like there was too much story left to cram into the last book, but not enough story left for a full book of its own. The ending seemed very anti-climactic, and I was a little disappointed with how fast the huge fight scene took place. However, I loved where all of the characters ended up and how things worked out for them. This series had its ups and downs, but it was definitely worth the time it took to read it.

I didn't really care for this book as I did the others, I didn't like how Lexi had no brains or backbone in this one. I also didn't like how jumbled everything seemed and how there were several things happening at once with different people

Best book in the series. Read in 1 day. Seems like the authors become a little bit better writers with each one. I almost stopped reading but came back and glad I did. This book wrapped up everything. No unanswered questions and the epilogue was great! They are worth a read.

I didn't really care for this last book of the series. You knew it was expected to end well and it didn't have any suspense to it. You knew what was going to happen before it happened.
