Loved Loved Loved this story!! Vicq can bite me anytime he wants...
Oh how I love a good vamp romance! Vamps are and will always be my favorite paranormal genre and I am always looking for a new love.
Ambrielle Kirk's Donor does not disappoint.
First things first. Donor is a fast moving right from the get, action packed, smexy story. The characterizations were well rounded and the prose completely flowed. There was a very dystopian feel that made the author's world very realistic. The smexy scenes were steamy but appropriate. It is a vamp romance after all, the smexy must be steamy, it's to be expected!!
The author gives a brief prologue and a bit of background of who Elaina, Vicq, the Dresdans, and District 5 are. All very key to the story considering how fast the story moves right from chap 1.
Now for the good stuff...
As I said, fast moving...chapter 1 starts with Elaina being pursued by a vampire and 2 District 5 agents. Now, this is not good because there is a price on her head with the vamps as she was a former vamp slayer and an additional price from the District 5 who she has been in hiding from for the past 9 months. There is no leaving the District 5. When you sign up, you sign up for life. Definitely lots of suspense and mystery going on.
Thankfully the vamp is Vicq. Now there is a history with these two. They were lovers and Elaina was also his blood donor. Surprising since she was contracted to kill him and obviously as we can see, didn't. Elaina was also under the impression that Visq was exterminated by Russo, the Dresdan Master for breaking the rules. Vicq has been in hiding as well but watching Elaina to make sure she was safe.
Vicq makes his presence known because of the danger Elaina is in, District 5 has located her.
And this is only chapter 1!
The story moves on to Vicq and Elaina reconnecting, explaining why he was away letting her think he was gone. And even though Elaina was hurt, lonely, and mistrustful on a whole, the lust and passion between these two is palpable, something neither of them can deny. They are true soul mates and do what is necessary to stay together this time.
We move further on to a race cross country to Vicq's sanctuary, his newly built coven so Elaina will be safe and they can start a new as well as figure out a way to take down the District 5 and Russo. But it is not an easy trip. There is action, fights, mayhem, and a kidnapping that happen. It's a race against time to win and survive.
And while all this is going on, there is lots of smexiness between these two as well as conversations that give the readers a huge understanding to how serious the situation is.
I read this story in one sitting. There wasn't a chapter I didn't like. There were parts that had me sitting on the edge of the couch from the action and parts that had me slouching back just enjoying the ride.
A definite must read for all you fans of an action packed smexy vamp romance!

I was given a copy of 'Donor' from Amber Ella Monroe, in exchange for an honest review.
Having recently read the prelude to Donor, I couldn't wait to sink into this book, to find out how things progressed after the cliffhanger from 'Prelude'. 'Donor' is book 1 in the "Dresden Coven" series, but I do sujest you read this series in order, starting with 'Prelude".
Once I started I was quickly enthralled in Vicq & Elaina's life after Vicq escapes the Vampire Lords dungeons. I was LOST, I didn't want reality to interrupt what I was reading, so much was happening inside this book. District 5 still have a bounty out on Elaina & do evertyhing in their power to capture her, especially after what her blood reveals. All Elaina & Vicq want is each other, wheather or not Elaina stays how she in or is turned. Then it ended, oh what an epilogue I read, how steamy was that scene??
I can't wait for the next book in this series, I need more of Vicq & Elaina soon!!

For months our heroine has hid herself, moving and changing her name, all to stay hidden from the corrupt corporation she use to work for and longing for the vampire she's sure died to protect her. Our hero escaped but instead of returning for our heroine, he's chosen to watch over her from afar, until her location is comprised. On the run from those who want to capture her and kill him, they drive cross country towards his hidden coven.

My opinion:
I love it! Ambrielle Kirk created an interesting universe filled with lies and treachery where the good persons are not who they seem to be and where you must be careful with whom you trust.
Her version of vampire is called Dresdan and they are a little different from the most common vampires but still have a lot of common so you really dive into the story without bothering with the specific terms even better she added a glossary at the end of the book so you have more than enough info to fully enjoy this story.
Elaina was part of the vampire hunters thinking them to be fully evil and planning to eradicate humans, for her they kill their prey to feed from them…but all that is what she was told when she joined the hunter’s group called District 5. Joining means not work for them but completely give them all right on her life and body… she thought she was doing the right thing until she met Vicq and then life become more complicated and she discovers she has been fed lies all along. In fact in Donor we don’t read about their first meeting we just have some info about it and some flashback (so it left material for a prequel if needed) we enter they live when Vicq reappears to protect Elaina when The district 5 members have found her trace after she went into hiding, so those events takes place 9 months after they went separate due to some circumstances we still need more info on.
Elaina had no idea the district were so close to find her and she thought Vicq was dead so she is really surprised to see him but soon they resume their relationship where it was left and we can see it was a really profound one. Vicq is really protective of her and he can’t bear the idea she would become a prisoner and subject to their experiments… because the district 5 isn’t was it was at the origin anymore now they want to create a special race of human, stronger than the vampires and for than they don’t hesitate to use dresdan, torturing them before killing them but humans as well and Elaina blood is what there are looking for since she is one of the rare human to have a blood compatible enough to create a hybrid so they are ready to do anything to get their hands on her.
To avoid such a fate, they flee together and Vicq wants to take her to his coven which would be safe. He is a traitor for some of his own because he saved her and thinks they can live without killing… he had a high rank but preferred to loose it to stay with Elaina and after they got separated he even built his own coven, with dedicated member but his last master wouldn’t accept that and thus he is playing dead so far but willing to take risk for her. He is a kind and generous lover, quite alpha and protective. But I loved how he was bantering with her sometimes.
We don’t see a lot of the other vampires, those against him, we see a fight but the big confrontation with past master is not in this book. This story focus on the romance and how they get back together while avoiding and escaping hunters. It’s really well done, we learn about the society of dresdan, about hybrids and their specificity but we are not overwhelmed under a mass of information either. It’s really a captivating story and I can’t wait to learn in book 2 because “Donor” set stage for a greater story when Elaina and Vicq works together to make the world better (or I least I hope so^^).
If you love vampire and romance you really should give this series a try!

I love a story when members from the “opposite team” fall in love….
Elaina was supposed to track down this wanted Dresdan Vicq. Instead she falls in love with him.
I do appreciate that there is much background given about how it has come to be that the once Dresdan Tracker Elaina working for District 5 is now on the run for her life. She finds a mate in one Vicq, the Dresdan she was sent to capture and destroy. Now the employer that she has signed her life away to is hunting her. She now holds the key to what District 5 wants….. a perfect hybrid and Elaina happens to one of few that been able to maintain Human and Vampire characteristics and not fully convert!
Elaina finally finds peace and begins to start a normal life with a new Identity. One quick phone call to her parents and she finds herself being hunted down by thugs sent to capture her from District 5.
In the midst of the hunt her Vicq shows up to save the day. The same man that caused her to change from the hunter to the hunted. Initially she is shocked for she feared that he was dead and she was destined to be alone and never love again. She soon finds out that Vicq and her both have the same idea and plan to stop District 5.
As always author Ambrielle Kirk steams ups the pages with the chemistry, heat and sex between the too lovable main characters. I loved the strong, masculine and very sexy Vicq. He is strong and rough but still manages to show his love and tenderness towards Elaina. Elaina was also an appealing character. She is strong yet still seeks the love and tenderness from her lover. She is a strong female character!
I loved the plot and the background of this story. It is not the normal vampire story. I love “District 5″. This organization established to create a new species, perfect Hybrids- a mix of Vampire and Human. It was a good changed from the normal vampire story. The concept is well thought through. Author Kirk even includes a very helpful glossary at the end of the book to help describe the roles in the book.
The story is filled with lots of action. The kind of action that keeps you turning the pages. I finished the book in two days. (Would have been 1 day if I did not have to get up to go to my job!) I am happy to say there were not obvious twists and turns. I was captured by this book and wanted to just keep reading to find out what would happen next. I feel the book is setting up for a great sequel and has much promise to be a wonderful series.
I do recommend this book if you love books dealing with vampires, erotica, action and romance. This book is very refreshing with its plot, has great descriptive and captivating writing and language. I am looking forward to reading the next installment…Donor Reloaded.

Book Review- Donor by Ambrielle Kirk
The story was a novella about Vicq who leads a separate vampire coven among the Dresdan vampires. He has found his mate, Elaina, who was a former tracker of Dresdan vampires for the organization known as District 5. She was sent to execute Vicq by the District. She was unable to carry out Vicq’s sentence and saved his life instead. As a result of her change of heart she was pulled into the battle between the leader of the Dresdan people and Vicq. She almost died and Vicq game her some of his blood to save her but not turn her. Now she is in hiding from the District because they are looking to study her. She is now known as a hybrid, a human with vampire blood running through her body. The District is experimenting on humans trying to make a hybrid on their own without success.
She believes that Vicq is dead and she has developed a new identity to hide from the District. However they find her and come after her. Vicq, who has been watching over her from afar, steps in to protect her from the District. Her shock at seeing him alive, almost gets her captured. They enter the adventure together as lovers, to escape from the District and bring them down. Vicq vows to protect her and she makes the choice to come fully into his world. The district tries to reach her before they can carry out their plans.
This book had a lot of action which was great. It was a fast read. The love scenes were pretty hot, but some of you may be turned off by the language used to write them. It might be too graphic for some of you. But those of you who like loves scenes that will melt an ice cube instantly, then you will like this book. It was a 3 out of 5 for me.

I really liked reading this book to pass the time, but I felt like there were information gaps. Maybe the prequel delves into those gaps? Anyways, in Donor we begin with Elaina who is being hunted by a group of people who aim to take her back to the organization that she left behind. District 5 aims to exterminate Dresdan vamps because they don't understand them, and they can't be them. They attempt to create their own species/hybrid that's a cross between vamp and human. Those plans have been foiled time and time again. When word gets back to District 5 that Elaina is a hybrid they want her for themselves to do 'experiments'. That's when Vicq comes into the picture. Vicq is a vamp, and is in love with Elaina. He tries protecting her for months while being out of sight until he has to come out of the shadows. The one problem that Vicq has is that his own kind is after him. He's made the ruling vamp mad by going against the laws, and has tried and failed to kill him. When this pair goes on the run things really heat up between them in the sheets AND in an action-y sense. I thought that this was a pretty good new take on vamps and would be interested in seeing where this series led. I just think I need to read the prequel to see if it fills in some of the gaps for me. This would be a great book to those who like to read about vamps, steamy scenes, kick-butt action, and strong characters.

The dresdan are very powerful vampires. District 5 inc. Is an organization set to take vampires only they also test vampire blood on humans to make some kind of super human. Their not as good as they would like everyone to believe.
Elaina use to work for them, she knows the truth now and had to run. She has also fallen in love with a powerful dresdan named Vicq and he is in love with her.
(If you haven't read the prequel it covers this and wow is it hot)
Elaina had thought Vicq was killed and she has been living in hiding until one night she walked into a trap and Vicq is once again there to save her. How did he live? How did he find her? Lol well your just going to have to read this hot book! But know that district 5 will stop at nothing to get her in there hands for testing back at the labs.
Action-packed, hot, spicy and truly an amazing story. I couldn't put it down. Its really refreshing and fantastic vampire story. I loved the new twists on the vampire tale. Totally worth it you will not be disappointed in this story.

After Elaina watched as Vicq was captured she changed her identity and moved across the country. Now, four months later, she is attacked on her way to her car after work by District 5 trackers, and she is shocked when her savior turns out to be the Dresdan she loves, Vicq. They are on the way to Vicq's secure compound when more District thugs attack them and capture Elaina. Vice rounds up some of his men to help him rescue Elaina from the thugs that captured her before they can get her back to the Districts compound. During his effort to rescue Elaina from the thugs, Elaina is injected with a poison. Wow, this is an exciting, action packed, sizzling hot and sexy romance with a couple that only want to be together without being hunted. Fantastic book!

Given to me for an honest review. I would suggest that you read this serial in order to really understand what's going on. Ms Monroe added enough of the back story so you can enjoy this book without reading Prelude Book 0. Elaina thought that she had hidden herself well, but obviously not well enough. District 5 hunters found her and plan to take her alive back to the District. Only a Dresdan plans to keep her safe by keeping her close to himself. Who is the Dresdan? Elaina wants to take down District 5. Will she be able to do that? Will she be able to keep from being a vampire?

This story picks up where Prelude left off. Elaina is still in hiding and mourning her dead lover only to discover that he isn’t dead. They team up again to seek out answers and to keep each other safe and while both of those tasks prove to be quite daunting, they are still managing to persevere. As the story goes on, Vicq just seems to get sexier. While not exactly a cliffhanger, Donor does start asking some interesting questions and poses some interesting scenarios that I hope get answered, or closer to answered in Requiem.

About 1 year ago, I got this book for free via Amazon, but I just couldn't get into it...
Today, I decided to give it another try, and I am so glad that I did..
Once I got past the first few pages, this book was not only engaging but it had a good flow as well.
The good: Creative world-building, touchable characters, steamy sex
The not-so-good: Considerable amount of lag in the beginning

Absolutely Fabulous!
One of the best vampire series I have read so far. I prefer this authors writing style better than almost any other. I love this series. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Plenty of plot twists and turns. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I love the mix of action/adventure, suspense and romance.

This is a terrific paranormal book! :) It's a fresh take on the vampire story. It's fast-moving, filled with lots of actions and great dialogue. I love the strong heroine and how tough she is! She has great chemistry with the hero. Very sexy scenes... Love this book!

This book is part of The Masters of the Hunt and so far it has not disappointed me.
I enjoyed the fast pace of this story line and the motivations that drive Elaina and Vicq. Got caught up in the action and the wicked romance. Looking forward to reading Prelude and Requiem

The author did a wonderful job in the plot and the execution of this storyline. The characters were written really well and the love story was hot and wild.
