For Mya Campbell, trying on a ridiculously tiny bikini and texting her best friend the incriminating photo was supposed to be a private joke. Emphasis on the private. Realising she’s sent the photo to her best friend’s brother Brad...? Public humiliation of the highest order! Because hotshot lawyer Brad Davenport is one of those guys - tall, dark and definitely not interested in workaholics. Plus Mya doesn’t date players. In fact, she doesn’t date at all. But that’s before Brad sees a side of Mya he never knew existed…and makes seducing her his brand-new project…!
Natalie Anderson is a USA TODAY bestselling author. She writes emotional contemporary romances full of sparkling banter, sizzling heat and uplifting endings—perfect for readers who love to escape with everyday empowered heroines and arrogant alphas who are too sexy for their own good. With over five million books sold, her stories are translated into more than a dozen languages, she’s been a Romantic Times Award nominee and a finalist for the R*BY (Romantic Book of the Year). When she’s not writing, you’ll find her wrangling her four fab kids, walking Alfie, the mini schnauzer and laughing with her husband at the end of the day–unless they’ve taken Romeo, the Campervan for a spin. She lives in Christchurch, New Zealand.
This is a contemporary romance, not a HP. It’s very realistic and it reminded me again why I only read HP’s.
Their first night together, she was the one going to his bedroom and she went to sit on his bed. I’m from the Victorian Age, so I like the man to take the initiative or at least have him invite her.
She was not a virgin, she’s had a few boyfriends, and the first time she sees her friend’s brother after three years she talks about her sensitive nipples with him. 🙄
In the beginning of the book she is trying on an expensive bikini of which she knows she will never buy. Why try it on then, especially when it’s a bikini that she wore over her naked breasts and that now other women will wear, and why waste the shop assistant’s time.
It was all mweh. He, she, the story and everything and everyone.
Recomendable.
Sexy, romantic, heart warming and just plain crazy fun! The book was fabulous and I loved every minute of it. With modern technology today anything is possible and yes we all make mistakes.
But imagine that mistake is sending a picture of yourself in a very, very tiny bikini to your best friend's brother instead of to her! Ladies, I am sure your all going to agree that some girls might take that in stride laugh it off and move on or even decide to throw caution to the wind and go with the flow.
The character Mya from this book did both. First by ignoring the sexy and very temping comments and not to mention hot as hell kisses from the sexy to die for Brad, or at least she tried to, and blowing him off by letting him know it was simply a mistake.
And then deciding to let it all go even if it is just for one night, reason being as you can guess, Brad is a player through and through and no woman has ever managed to crack his shell, or gotten him to spend the whole night for that matter.
The characters of Mya and Brad both had certain emotional issues that gave the book the heart felt emotion I as reader have come to love from books by this author. But they both also had lots and lots of humour which created some truly funny moments that had me laughing out loud and thinking "Can this book get any better?"
And my oh my did it get better with a bang! The author gave it all in this one, there was moments of humour, fun, laughter, deliciously hot sex scenes and pure romance at it's best.
I simply adored how Brad wanted to give all his strength and support to Mya to help her achieve her goals. The man was as entertaining as he was sweet and of course really hot!
I also very much liked how Mya pointed Brad's faults out to him, making no secret of her opinions of the man. The author not only let the two characters compliment each other so very well but let them both discover that they are really good for each other on so much more than a pure sexual level. Of course the real kicker was if they would both accept the gift of love or simply move on.
For me as reader the book really did have everything I love to walk away with after reading a contemporary romance. It had the emotion, the romance, the passion, the secrets and the deeper meaning message of letting go and realizing the person who loves you will stand by you, support you and always be there for you, if you give them the chance. Added bonus of course was definitely the crazy fun humour dialogue!
I loved how the author let the "relationship" play out and blossom much like a rose going from simply a seed to a magnificent flower.
I recommend this read for every one out there. It is the perfect read to cheer you up and have you laughing so hard your eyes will just as mine had tear up, not to mention the really gorgeous message the author conveyed to me as reader.
Really excellent work Natalie, please keep them coming!
5/5 star review "As hot as he is in the courtroom he is even hotter in the bedroom"
Liked this book a lot. Hard to put down once started reading. Ya was in a changing room in a store, when she decided to have some fun and send a photo to her friend, of herself in a skimpy, bikini. She never does this sort of thing. As the shop assistant asks if she needs any help. Mia sends the phone not to her female friend but to Brad, by mistake, later a text stil hasn’t arrived from her female friend. Why not , the. To Mya horror she realises she has sent to to someone else. No no no!!!!!! , it is non other then Brad Davenport. As he receives the picture Brad, is instanty taken with mya in that bikini.... where will this all lead.... a lovely book. I liked it a lot. 4 stars. A great piece of writing, I will be reading more of Natalie,s writing.
Wow. I don't even know where to begin with this one. It was so unexpectedly wonderful. I would have liked to give it 5 stars, but some of the New Zealand colloquialisms had me stumped. Some words I'd never seen before and had to guess the meaning of, based on context. Some words were familiar but meant something completely different. Fortunately it didn't overshadow the story.
Brad is the older brother of Mya's best friend. She accidentally sends him a picture of her in a bikini to see what Lauren thought. Brad hadn't seen her in years. He was a successful lawyer and all-around playboy. Mya was in law school and working two jobs just to pay her bills. Her goal was to eventually move her parents out of their low-income neighborhood. After the picture, Brad comes calling.
We get to know these two people quite well. We learn what drives them and what brings them together. We see how painful it is to be them. They both suffered alot in their childhoods, for very different reasons. And they both eventually have to fight to find each other and stay together. The author has quite a talent for dialog. I just loved the way they interacted. And we come to realize their motivations and understand them in ways that I often don't with a fairly short book. And, best of all, we see them change and grow.
Mya and Brad have their really wonderful sigh-worthy HEA. Great read.
As usual, Natalie Anderson pulls through with the quick, satisfying read. What I love about NA's books are that they are chock full of wonderful sizzling chemistry, and though the beginning often seems perhaps a bit too fluffy to sink your teeth into, not far into the story the reader finds that to just not be the case. Not at all. It begins with a camera phone incident-- Mya innocently wants her BFF's opinion on a possible bikini purchase-- that quickly becomes more complex when she accidentally sends the pic to her bestie's older crush-worthy brother Brad. Of course, Brad's interest is instantly sparked, leading to a lot of sizzling chemistry and innuendo between he and Mya. Surprisingly, at this point the story takes a more heartfelt turn, when Brad becomes seriously worried about Mya's ridiculously heavy school and work schedule and decides to just be there for her as a friend. After a particularly sweet gesture on Brad's part, their relationship becomes more serious, and so does the story. But sweet too. This was a quick and wonderful read, and as usual, more than meets the eye (anyone who reads the title would probably think the story would be a fluff piece). I love Natalie Anderson and will continue to seek out her books. Who doesn't love a HEA?
An enjoyable book about a hard-working young woman who makes an embarrassing mistake that alters her life.
Mya Campbell snapped a photo of herself in a red bikini and sent it to her best friend Lauren Davenport. Since Mya was in a hurry, she sent it to the wrong Davenport. The photo went to Lauren’s drop-dead brother, Brad, who Mya had had a crush on during her teenage years. Brad liked what he saw and went to see Mya at her work in a local bar. When she saw him and talked with him, she realized the huge mistake that had been made and was totally embarrassed. She was still attracted to Brad but everyone knew he was a playboy and not into long-term commitments. Mya was working two jobs and going to college and didn’t have time for any relationship. But they couldn’t deny their mutual attraction to each other.
Like! ♥♥ Mya just wanted to be independent to herself and because of that, she created a perfect image of herself for her parents..Brad tries to tell her that she don't need to do that because she really works hard and she is pressured to do multiple tasks in her life that she do't want to date anybody. Luckily, Brad tries his best to change that. He made her realize how important it is to have a spare time for herself even though they don't want a relationship. And that's what made them fall for each other without realizing it. BECAUSE of the WRONG-SENT photo to him, her life has changed. Love the ending!
Myra wants advice from best friend of tiny bikini purchase and sends her a pictures with her wearing it. It is sent to older brother (hunk that she has been interested in for some time) of friend by accident. His interest changes, but she knows he is a player. He finds out there is more to Myra. He now wants a different lifestyle then he has lived in the past. There is romance, passion, and an interesting relationship with a happy ending. A good read. I recommend this book.
Sometimes I like to read books where the women are beautiful and clumsy and the men are gorgeous (but damaged) and this fit the bill exactly. :D It's a nice fun book and I like that it was set in New Zealand - it took me a while because the language was the same as UK-English but not quite England. Would recommend to while away an evening when you want to read but don't want to embark on a magnum opus. :p
This was my first Natalie Anderson book and I believe the first book I've ever read set in New Zealand. Overall it was very good! Very cute and easy to read. I enjoyed the characters, the character development, and of course the romance. I would definitely check out other books by Natalie Anderson.
Additional book in The Heat is On by Jill Shalvis. The story was good, but way too much focus on sex. The guy turned out to be a good, solid, supportive guy, but I wish there was more story and less sex. I liked the characters and the story, but...
Cute story. Both are under tremendous pressure in their lives and neither want a relationship, but that is exactly what they fall into without realizing it.
A different twist to the typical romance between a girl and her best friend's older brother. It was a cute, fun read with a sweet happily ever after ending. ❤
