Three sisters. One wedding. Infinite possibilities . . .

On the enchanting Isle of Arran, three sisters find themselves at Meadowbank Cottage, their childhood home. But it’s the first time they’ve been together since their mum died.

And now they’re back in Arran for the wedding of middle sister Emma.

Eldest Kirsty is juggling the responsibility for Meadowbank Cottage with an earth-shattering secret she discovers in the attic. She fears she’s beginning to lose herself . . .

Bride-to-be Emma is an ambitious lawyer living and working in Edinburgh. Far from turning into Bridezilla, she’s looking forward to a simple ceremony in a beautiful and meaningful place.

Meanwhile baby sister and wild one Amy lives in Vancouver. But the pull of home is becoming too enticing to ignore. She wonders if she should extend her trip to Arran, maybe even for good . . . And could her old flame James, who works at the whisky distillery on the island, be the person to convince her?

One thing is for there’s going to be lots of laughter and buckets of tears along the way.

But how will the sisters come together when Emma receives some unexpected news?

I received a free copy of, A Summer Wedding on Arran, by Elie Henderson, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Middle sister Emma is getting married on Arran Isle. Its the first time her and her sisters Kirsty and Amy have been back since the loss of their mother. I found this book to be enjoyable. The sisters are as close as sisters can be, with a wedding on the horizon, the loss of their mother, and their father not doing well health wise, a lot of emotions and a lot going on in this book.

I received this book as an ARC from Choc lit through NetGalley and this review is based on my own opinion.

A Summer Wedding On Arran is a story about three sisters.

Kirsty owns a b&b called Meadowbank and is planning the wedding for Emma.

Emma is a lawyer, living in Edinburgh, who is now getting married to another lawyer.

And Amy lives in Vancouver as a yoga instructor and massage therapist.

Two years after their mothers funeral they are all back in their hometown Arran to celebrate the wedding of the middle sister Emma.

The book is fast paced and it was lovely to read on a hot summer weekend. I personally liked that each of the sisters had some kind of secret that they kept from eachother while the reader knew what was going on, except for Kirsty's one that they only revealed around the ending, which kept it exciting for me to keep reading.

Three sisters, Kirsty, Emma, and Amy have not been together since the loss of their mother. Emma, the middle sister is getting married and they are all returning to Meadowbank Cottage, their childhood home. Their father is ill and they are all concerned about his health. Emma lives and works in Edinburgh. She is a lawyer and a bit of a Bridezilla. Amy is the youngest and is presently living in Vancouver, Canada. She is not really happy in her present life and breaks it off with her boyfriend before heading home to Scotland. She thinks she might stay there, and meeting up with her old beau, James, might just help her make up her mind. Kirsty is happily married and running the family B&B, and would love Amy to return home. These are a close knit group of sisters, who have drifted apart, but with the wedding and some unexpected news, will they become closer, or move on with their lives apart.

I enjoyed this book. The summery vibes were there and I loved the setting. Having a wedding at a distillery sounds lovely and intimate. I liked each of the sisters for different reasons. As the book progressed, each sister has a secret that I was waiting to see when they would reveal it to one another and how they would react. The story is told from all 3 POVs. The story had drama, secrets, a beautiful setting, and family love with a couple of twists. This was a great story to read sitting outside on a sunny, summer day. If you enjoy a good family drama with lots of emotion, then I recommend A Summer on Arran. The audiobook was narrated by Kirsty Cox and she does a good job with the voices and storytelling.

Thank you to Choc Lit and Ellie Henderson for granting me a copy of A Summer Wedding on Arran to review.

A heart-warming, summer escapism read about three sisters, the hustle of preparing for a wedding, and the secrets each sister has about their lives. Written across the three POVs of the sisters – Kirsty (oldest), Emma (middle & the bride), and Amy (youngest) - following their journeys as they prepare for Emma’s big day. The sisters are likable; it’s very easy to care for them, but I have to admit Emma was my favourite. I finished the book wishing I could have such sisters.

The story plot has a lot of emotional ups and down as each sister’s secret come is scratched away with each passing chapter. I found myself a little surprised as I thought I pinned down Kirsty’s secret early on, but a big twist caught me to my delight (love it when the writing can surprise the reader). I did find a lot of drama woven throughout the story. At times, I struggled to catch my breath with all the plot turns coming out of the woodwork. A lot of action!

The detail of the landscape is majesty and paints a rich picture to the reader accurately reflecting the beauty of the Isle of Arran. Though Scotland isn’t always as sunny and pleasant on the West coast as enjoyed throughout the story, I loved that details like that were considered in the plot and the wedding had a back-up plan in case of rain. I did think there are some geographical mistakes about places on Arran (from my previous visits), but this doesn’t detract from the story.

There are two emotional and hard-hitting medical issues mentioned in the story. I thought the story handled them with great realism, empathy, and sensitivity. The elements of dementia struck me the most, I’ve lost my beloved grandparents to it. I love to see the issues raised in fiction, the more we know the signs the more chance we can catch it early in our loved ones to fight for them.

Tropes to expect:
- Relative death
- Medical conditions
- Sibling Relationships
- Family secrets

Not the usual type of book I’d normally go for but Arran during a Scottish summer is simply stunning & I wanted to see how the author described our beautiful island.

I struggled to get through this one and it probably took me longer because I didn’t get the intense grip and thrill from my usual thriller go-to.

It was heartwarming and I loved seeing the connection between the three sisters grow and the love that they have for each other. The book focuses on family bonds & just how important it is to share your struggles with your loved ones in order to overcome them. A problem shared is a problem solved 🤍

I really liked the writing style. The story was told from the POV of the three sisters & the storylines interweave effortlessly.

The descriptions of Arran just make me want to go back so much!

This book was so wholesome. The storyline follows three sisters: Kristy, Emma, and Amy. Kristy runs a B&B in their childhood home, Emma is a lawyer who lives in Edinburgh and is getting married, Amy is a yoga instructor who lives in Vancouver.

On the outside it looks like Kristy has everything under control. On top of running the B&B with her husband, she is also helping plan Emma’s wedding. But she finds out a secret that may changed her relationship with her sisters and father.

Emma has a secret that she’s afraid to tell her fiancé and her sisters as well.

Amy having come back home, isn’t sure why she truly wants to do after the wedding. With the introduction of James, things get a little more complicated than she was hoping for.

This was a great spring time read. The storyline shows how strong of a bond that the three sisters have. It also shows how they handle things under pressure - each sister becomes a pillar for the others when things get though

This was an absolutely beautiful book and was paced just right.

I went over to Scotland a few months ago and this made me want to drive straight over to Arran (with the minor detail of a ferry in the way!).

The book was full of surprises and wasn't just about a wedding - but a beautiful family story, of sisters coming back together and putting the wedding together, but also some heavy secrets for them to navigate together (and tough topics to approach in a such a book). As the wedding and the book comes together, you want to raise a glass to the happy couple, Emma and Max, and enjoy their beautiful island home.

The characters were lovely, and enjoy getting to meet the side characters, even the irritating guests and neighbours..

Can we have book 2 now to see where the epilogue leads?

A wonderful story, uplifting yet with some emotional aspects which had me crying silent tears. As one of 3 close sisters, I find I often seek out stories based on sibling relationships. I thought all 3 sisters' stories were given equal detail, meaning I felt similarly invested in all 3. The differences in their stories meant my interest was maintained; the final twist added further interest. The emotion of one of the main themes, relating to death and dementia, was raw but of course, a part of life and was dealt with intelligently and with sensitivity. At times, some of the sub plots left me a bit unsure, possibly feeling as if the author was setting up a sequel but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

A fantastic, heart-warming story of three sisters who are gathering again for the first time since their mother passed away two years ago. This time it's for more joyous a reason - middle sister Emma is getting married!

Emma and youngest sister Amy, who normally lives in Canada, are returning to their old family home Meadowbank Cottage which their oldest sister Kirsty is running as a B&B with her husband.

Emma is super laid back about the wedding arrangements but has some important news to share with her husband to be before the big day. Kirsty also has some news to share.

Expect lots of smiles, and some tears, but still a fabulous book.

Perfect summer read!

PS. I've already looked up the Isle of Arran as a holiday destination. It looks absolutely stunning!

A Lovely Book

Sisters Kirsty, Emma and Amy are back together in their family home on the Isle of Arran, preparing for Emma's wedding but although they are glad to all be home again each one is hiding a secret. Kirsty is keen to keep hers quiet until after the wedding but it affects all of them. Emma must talk to the bridegroom before the ceremony and Amy is working out whether she wants to return to Canada where she has been living and working or whether she would prefer to stay closer to home. Plus their father has not been right since the death of their mother and is showing early signs of dementia. While there is a lot to think about there were some happy times too and I really enjoyed this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story of 3 sisters, brought back together on the beautiful Isle of Arran where they grew up for the first time since their mother’s death. The loving relationship between Kirsty, Emma and Amy was a constant through the book and very special. They are together for Emma’s wedding, but she’s hiding a secret from them and her fiancé. There are other secrets too that emerge and we follow along as the family struggles to work through them. I hope there will be a sequel as I’d love to discover what happens to them all next!

"A Summer Wedding on Arran" by Ellie Henderson was, unfortunately, a disappointing read. The plot dragged on endlessly, and I found myself forcing my way to the end. The writing felt stiff and uninspired, almost as if it had been generated by AI as opposed to a human author. The characters were flat, their emotions hollow, and the dialogue was clunky. The pacing was painfully slow and the picturesque setting of Arran was the only part with any real charm. Even that, though, couldn't save the story from feeling lifeless and unremarkable. Overall, a frustrating and lackluster experience.

A Summer Wedding on Arran: (Scottish Romances Book 1)i I felt I was right ther in the Scottish Isles

I thought I was right there in the Scottish Isles on Arran whilst reading this lovely book. It,was so explicit about the scenery, the beautiful garden at the Guest House, it seemed so real. The family was so close and so supportive with every day trials and tribulations. I really enjoyed it so much I sincerely hope ther are more books like this in the series. I would really recommend this book to anyone who loved romantic family books 💕

The setting is the Isle of Arran, and the story involves three very different sisters, Kirsty who runs a B and B, Emma a lawyer and about to be married and Amy the wild child lives in Canada.
All are to be reunited for Emma's big day.
But what should be such a happy occasion turns into a mess of family dramas, secrets, joys and tragedies.
Can the turmoil be worked through in time for Emma's wedding and can all three find their very own, individual happy ever after?
Such a joyous, feel good story with a loving family at the heart of it all.

heartwarming intro to life on Arran

Absolutely loved it. I love Arran, so when I saw a book set there, I had to read it. The relationship between the sisters was well done and the multiple points of view worked really well. I liked the serious issues the author addressed too. So glad I have another 2 books in the series to read. Has had me house hunting on Arran - again! Solid 5 stars from me.

This book made me laugh, cry and giggle so hard. This book is so heartwarming to the point that I was crying at parts both happy and sad tears. I was so sad when the book ended. But adore the relations hip between the sisters and their family. At times I reminded me of my own childhood as I grew up in a rural village and the book is set in a rural part of Scotland. I wish I could read this book for the first time again. Can't wait to read other books by this author.

Thank you Choc Lit for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so interesting to me, a few months ago I had read a book that was about four different sisters an each chapter was their different point of view, so I could not wait to read another one.

This was a very quick and easy read, and I enjoyed the book but I would not say that I loved it. I did like that we got to see things from every sister's perspective. I enjoyed that I could relate to all of the sisters in a different way and I love reading about family dynamics.

I will for sure read more Ellie Henderson books in the future

This was a lovely, sweet story. I enjoyed reading about siblings who were supportive of each other, and it was refreshing to see the couples without excessive drama. When there was drama introduced, they handled it like adults and talked things through.

I couldn’t resist this book as I know Arran well, and this book certainly did this beautiful island justice. A lovely, heartwarming story about 3 sisters who are about to come together on Arran for the wedding of their middle sister, Emma. There are no huge dramas, no plot twists or suspense, just a beautiful story of love, family and relationships. Really enjoyable.

Set on the beautiful Isle of Arran this story is about the lives of three very different sisters who get together for a family wedding. They are all hiding secrets from the rest of the family and there are lots of twists and turns before the wedding takes place. I would recommend this as a perfect holiday read.

3.5 stars. A lovely setting, three sisters reunited for the first time since their mother's death to celebrate a wedding and new beginnings. Kirsty, the eldest, is keeping a secret from her sisters. Emma is getting ready to marry and youngest sister Amy is returning from Vancouver and a failed relationship. I found the characters very relatable and loved the quick. light read.

What a cute story about three sisters and their childhood home in Arran, Ireland. Kristy, Emma, and Amy are such lovely trip and so uplifting to each other; especially during the stress of Emma’s upcoming wedding. This was a very relaxing read that I could picture reading on the beach with a cocktail in hand. And I love that the ending was tied up, nice and neat, with a bow for us readers.

DNF at 27% in September 2024.

I loved the Scottish island setting. I just love Scotland as a setting! I hoping for a light, easy read and this filled that place. But it was so dull and lacked emotion I can’t continue. We read a scene that should have been much more emotional and it was like a robot was narrating, lol.

I received this as an advanced free copy. The review is my honest opinion.
This story of three sisters is well written and despite not having any siblings I felt the sisters, and their relationships, were very believable. The story held me throughout, hoping all would be well at the end. I especially found the way their father's illness was portrayed, very sympathetic and honest. Enjoy this read, I'm sure you will!

This story has a cute concept, but jumps immediately into the depth of the story, and with so many characters, it was hard to follow who was who and what the main plot was.
