Anatomy of ideas: The life’s work of an infographics pioneer
Fritz Kahn was a German doctor, educator, popular science writer, and information graphics pioneer whose brilliant work has all but fallen into oblivion. Chased out of Germany by the Nazis, who banned and burned his books, Kahn emigrated to Palestine, then France, and finally the United States to continue his life's work. Though his achievements were numerous, the most notable was the development of creative visualizations to explain complex scientific ideas. Published on the 125th anniversary of Kahn's birth and destined to bring his work back into the spotlight, this monograph features more than 350 illustrations with extensive captions, three original texts by Fritz Kahn, a foreword by Steven Heller, and an essay about Kahn’s life and œuvre. Natural science buffs, graphics professionals, and anyone interested in visual expression of ideas will be fascinated by this tribute to Kahn’s greatest achievements.

Clearly and impressively the best single-artist Taschen Iʻve encountered in a long time. A genius

Fritz Kahn doesn’t get nearly enough love—he essentially created the first infographics, but was forgotten because of Nazi book censoring.

He draws incredible analogies between technology and the workings of parts of the body. Looking at modern infographics, I actually prefer Kahn’s. Rather than giving information on a picture, his works allow you to understand through pictures. It’s quite remarkable.

Great catalog of a foundational infographics pioneer. The diagrams of human systems as machines sometimes missed the mark, but there is no denying that the novelty of Kahn's visual communication from 100 years ago to popularize the science of the day was attractive and powerful. I also appreciate the highlighting of the artists he worked with and the biographical materials included.

A lovely book. Very well done compliation of Kahns work, taking as many highlights as possible from his overall works. As always, TASCHEN creates amazing and fairpriced educational books to preserve amazing art. Kahn is a (hopefully not so hidden) gem in infographics - and the pure imagination, joy for science and curiosity it serves the reader! I enjoyed the printed articles in the back as well.

For those who think infographics and memes were invented by Twitter. There truly isn't anything new under the sun.
