This is the perfectly immersive action packed suspenseful thrilling adventure. Poppy takes charge of this one as Edgar is still reeling from his injuries and almost bedridden. He told her not to get involved when a woman in need comes calling but it seems the puppet master of the would be vampires is actually the real deal… ? And of course Poppy can’t help but feel like investigating. But is she in too deep and out of her depth? Excellent writing as always by the prolific pen of Steve Higgs and Barry Napier . Book 4 already in this awesome collection of Bluemoon Appalachia stories. Great descriptions put you right in the action and edge of your seat reading. I read an advance copy of this book and I give my review voluntary and in my own words
Last Bite: Blue Moon Appalachia Book 4 by Steve Higgs and Barry Napier is a great series. Edgar is part of the Appalachian division of Blue Moon Investigations, which means that he investigates instances of apparent paranormal crimes and issues. Does this mean that he actually believes in the paranormal? No. But that does mean that he investigates, and solves, mysteries with his sometimes partner Poppy. After all, what would you do, or conclude, if men claiming to be/living as vampires settled in an abandoned house in your little town? This is a fun read!
Poppy is dwindling, her main tasks are to help Edgar with his home chores, work as his assistant at Blue Moon operations, and trying herself as an investigator. As Edgar is unable to travel or do much in view of his injuries she goes on the search for those who are kidnapping and killing people in the Appalachian area. People suggest the victims are being killed by a vampire, that’s the mystery to be solved, vampires do not exist, do they? Poppy and Abby (the girl who contacted Blue Moon about the case) will go into a lot of trouble to find the culprits but they do a great job. A good story line, and very entertaining. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series! I thank Mr. Napier and Mr. Higgs for this ARC.
Poppy goes it alone! Are vampires real? There's a lot of evidence in this case that has Poppy, herself, questioning this. Being brave is one thing, but 2 young women traipsing into an alleged vampire lair is asking for trouble! An edge of your seat mystery that kept me reading late into the night! Loved it!
Even though this episode featured more on Poppy than Edgar, it was continually moving and making you wonder "what next"?.. Never lost my attention for a second! Excellent reading!
Edgar's saucy sidekick, Poppy, gets all the action in this Blue Moon mystery as she investigates a chilling call from a client involving missing young women and possible vampires. Don't pass this one up!
Poppy took center stage this time and it was an adventure!!! Vampires are at the forefront of this mystery and Poppy is stretching her investigative wings while Edgar is recovering from his encounter with the cult.
Poppy gets to investigate a bunch of vampires. Does she know what to do? She does things differently than Edgar, but gets herself into trouble. Can she save herself? This story was interesting, but it didn't make me want to keep reading until late at night.
Loved this book! Having Poppy involved has been fun but her first alone case was great! I hope it’s telling us that she’s around for good! They make a great team! Can’t wait for the next one!!
