I have over the recent year become rather fond of American history and decided to try this novel as the premise was very intriguing. And it did not disappoint, in fact I would go as far as saying that this is the best book I read in 2013. I would not hesitate in recommending it to others, regardless to whether they are fans of American history.

It is an exciting read, with an absolutely shocking ending. It was one that I did not see coming, and I do admit that I did have to stop my reading on discovering the final secret to take stock, and make sure that I had read correctly. It was an engaging and a well written novel, whose main character is engaging and likeable. I feel that it is because of her normality, she is just an average woman who finds herself in an extraordinary situation. Which is fantastic, as a great deal of Thrillers give their characters amazing skills which make solving their story very easy in the end. But Kathryn can't solve her problem, she does try to enlist some help but she must let the situation play out and well see how it goes. There is nothing she can do but let it play out, and that type of realism is welcome.

Thinking back, I should find the final ideas put forth in this novel too fantastical to be plausible. But yet the more I think on it, the astonishing thing the more I can believe it. The author has a knack for making it seem 'real', I believe it is the evenhandedness of their writing, and the faultless command of American history. The author also has the very welcome ability to priorities plot and story over description, no word is wasted it is all important which again helps us take the story seriously.

As a reader we want to know what happens next, I found that it is very hard to put the book down! the pace is fast and we are never disappointed. We are never left hanging for answers and the threads are all tied neatly together in the jaw droopingly good conclusion. Leigh Straw is definitely becoming one of my favourite authors, and I can't want to read more from them.

I am positive that this novel will be very welcome to those who are fans of President Kennedy and the conspiracy theories surrounding his assassination. It is truly a thriller of the same quality of Stieg Larsson. It was a complete, and exciting pleasure to read.
