When a vagrant was murdered right around the corner from where we live, I felt that trouble had hit a little too close to home. And then when our local park was being overrun with homeless people, preventing us from engaging in our favorite pastime of cat choir, it soon transpired that both incidents might be connected. But how? Before long, we suspected that something was brewing in our neighborhood, with neighbor turning against neighbor in a vicious feud. At least there was something to look forward our first investigation into the presence of a ghost! Now that we had more or less mastered the art of catching thieves and murderers, we were moving into the ghost hunting business.
Nic has a background in political science and before being struck by the writing bug worked odd jobs around the world (including but not limited to massage therapist in Mexico, gardener in Italy, restaurant manager in India, and Berlitz teacher in Belgium).
When he’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good (comic) book, watching British crime dramas, French comedies or Nancy Meyers movies, sampling pastry (apple cake!), pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark variety), twisting himself into a pretzel doing morning yoga, going for a run, and spoiling his big red tomcat Tommy.
He lives with his wife (and aforementioned cat) in a small village smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is probably writing his next ‘Mysteries of Max’ book right now.
Lots of twists and turns in this Max mystery. I was really surprised at the person who was the murderer. I sure didn't suspect this person at all. Kinda wanted more of the "ghost" part of the mystery, but this was a fascinating mystery altogether anyway. As always this series is so very entertaining, enjoyable and, without a doubt, my favorite of all the cat detective mysteries that I read. Thank you, Nic Saint, for using my suggestion and writing such a fantastic Max mystery!!!! Next suggestion -- Purrfect Haunting! Now, what can you do with this?? Location -- a haunted bed and breakfast!! More ghosts, please!!!!!
As their quiet town began acquiring homeless people the crime rate climbed and then one of the homeless is found dead in Holly's house. Who was he and why was he there? Solving the mystery took some fancy paw/foot work and Olivia, Chase, Max, Dooley. Gram and Scarlett all contributed to finding the murderer.
I always enjoy these stories! Nice Saint is a wonderful story teller . The entertaining cats and the family are always a pleasure to read about. Not to mention the grandmother who is always into something and creating more problems. Its pure entertainment!!
Again a great book, Max and the gang take on a dog owner's mystery. A homeless man is killed in a neighbor's house and the dog asks for their help finding out who and why.
This time another murder, but a complicated case. During investigating it comes to light the neighbors have been very Clicky and mean to one neighbor. The plot thickens but Max finally figures the most important clue.
Is there a Ghost - Is there a murder, and much more!
Yet again a fabulous story of Max, his fellow cats and all their humans. How he keeps coming up with such a lot of great stories I will never know! Just don't stop Nic - on to the next adventure!
Ok, so this book brought in drugs and bums and supposed neighborhood watch members, and eventually the crime was solved by Max as usual and everybody lived happily ever after.
Murder, burglary, love affairs, & … ghosts?? Just what has the four musketeers gotten into now! The story starts out compelling & keeps getting better.
I have read all these books more than once and I will keep reading them because they really are so much fun. Thanks Nic and keep up the fantastic stories😻😻😻😻
