When Maddy Thorne agreed to marry her billionaire boss in order to keep him in the country, she never would have guessed they'd actually stay together. But over a year later, she's still happily married to the slightly eccentric, maddeningly attractive Daniel. As he begins to come out of his shell and turn into the figurehead that his growing technology company needs, Maddy finds herself dealing with a whole new set of problems. And despite his newfound openness, he's still keeping secrets. Even from her. But despite her misgivings and the ever-present prattle of journalists, really, Maddy can't complain.

Then, a frantic late-night phone call changes everything.

Daniel has been accused of illegal insider trading. His assets frozen, he suddenly finds himself at the center of a media circus and a trial under a merciless judge with no way out. Maddy wants to support him, but it seems all Daniel wants to do is crawl back into his shell. In the midst of the chaos, Maddy receives an offer to display her drawings at one of the most influential galleries in the city. Pulled in two directions even as her life crashes down around her, will Maddy allow Daniel to keep pushing her away, or will she find a way to pull him back?

I really enjoyed the second installment of this series. Daniel and Maddy's relationship becomes strained when Daniel has to deal with a lawsuit and effectively shuts Maddy out of his business. Go Maddy for being such an intelligent and resourceful woman. I really like her! Lots of other reviewers disliked Daniel in this, but I can understand the stress he was under. Not everyone deals with stress well (especially a lawsuit!) and it would most definitely be hard to trust people when you are in such a powerful position. The emotions in this book and reasoning behind them a very realistic. 4 stars!

I have to say book 2 was as good as book 1. I just love Daniel and his alpha male ways. I am looking forward to book 3.

like a lot of previous readers I really wanted to get more out of this - I wanted to like it more. This wasn't your normal run of the mill billionaire story. It was quite deep and there were at times I didn't like Daniel Thorne - especially the way he treated Maddy.

Daniel's marriage of convenience was meant to turn into something else. He loved his wife but he had a strange way of showing it. He is aloof and enigmatic and the reasons why he is the way he is eventually comes out . However I though Daniels "marriage of convenience" just became too convenient for him - not her.

One scene made me grit my teeth. When Maddy was trying to help him during the insider dealing crisis and stood up to him - his way of dealing with it was to take his belt to her. OK she took it because she wanted to but I thought this side of their relationship should have been explored/explained more.

As a CEO and a billionaire I would have expected him to have more experience regarding insider dealing. I felt the plot fell a bit along the wayside with the way it was dealt with.

Overall a good story. Lets see how the relationship continues in book 3.

Here's what knocked this book down, Daniel spends the entire book being a douche. His ex from book 1 returns and she, along with some people he screwed over in the past are out to get him and they set him up for insider trading.
Maddy spends her time trying to solve the mystery and prove his innocence and throughout the book Daniel still spends a lot of time thinking Maddy is only with him for his money.
At least during this book Maddy gets a chance to her art further and actually gets to be featured in a gallery.
This story had more drama, but you just couldn't really get into it when Daniel was so ugh and Maddy couldn't really reach him

This is one of those books that would be better if it was just filled with more hot steamy sex. Yes I said it.

I want to like this so much, but it's just missing something. I don't feel the love between the two characters, because they spend more time apart than together. There's always a distance between them that doesn't ever seem to be closed. It's a little disappointing.

2 stars :(

I lost interest because of the company problem. It kind of focused on that and I just found my self skipping pages and just reading the conversations...I'm not satisfied at all and would have loved to see more complications in their relationship. Hope the series gets better.

There was times in this book that I just wanted to slap Daniel, shake him and scream "Look at what you're doing!?!!"... (So frustrating)... Other than that it's a great read :)

I don’t think that I am a fan of the Billionaire Romance. There is something about this level of wish fulfillment that falls a little flat for me. Mostly because it is being written by people who have never experienced that level of crazy and so it is on the outside looking in, and it just feels false to me.

There is a lot of suspension of realism that comes with fiction. And if you couple that with amazing writing and great story telling I can buy just about anything. But this story, it was mediocre at best. The writing was passable, but more functional than anything. I have read romances with traditional publishers of this quality, so it’s not bad per say, but it’s not amazing either. More and more, I know I want amazing, not passable and functional.

And the sex in this series, was flat. He filled me and moved within me, and I felt to complete, and then I screamed his name. There was zero anticipation, zero having the reader in the moment too. They play at BDSM, but it’s all so closed off. Like he ties me up. How? And besides it makes me feel taken care of, what is your physical response to it?

Ugh and the breathing. I breathed into it and it changed the experience. He told me to breath, and that changed everything. How. Nothing you are writing has my panties in knots. Not at all.
So overall, I mean it’s passable. It’s not horrible. But it also isn’t amazing. And I’m at that point in my life that I want amazing all the time with my reading.

I also really loathed the clichés of language that where used. NEVER EVER EVER in a romance novel should going down be referred to as getting to work. Seriously. That does not entice me what so ever. There where also our week moments in the writing where they fell upon clichés, and all I could think was if they where a better writer they would have caught that and pushed themselves to rework it.

There where also plot things in the last book that left me going what? What? Really, this is what you want to do with this? Throws hands in the air.

I'm just copy and pasting the same review for all three books in this series, because I kind of want the goodreads stats for it, but I can't be bothered to write how I feel individually about all of them.

It was a little better than the first book, that being said I still only averagely liked it.

I just can't connect with the characters, Daniel is so bland. I hope that doesn't sound harsh but I like my book men to stand out. It's not that I don't enjoy books who have the "average" man, whatever that may mean, but I just didn't get anything from Daniel. He was boring. Maddie honestly wasn't all that better, I know she was meant to be developed more in this book as a resourceful and independent women but I wasn't getting that from her. I was rooting for her when she stood her ground when Daniel was trying to shut her out.

I didn't like how Daniel treated Maddie in this book, that to me was a main factor in my rating. I did say I enjoyed this book more than the first one but it was because the story felt a little more developed. Just like the first book I just didn't feel any chemistry between Maddie and Daniel.

I hope the last book is good, I will be reading it lol

Happy Reading!

when Maddy Thorne married Daniel as part of an standbys arrangement she never imagined she would fall in love with him. But she did and so did he, so now as they start their real marriage with real love this time they must get past hurdles that Maddy never imagined.

As wife to billionaire Mr Thorne, Maddy is ridiculed by the media fir ensuring she wears and does. When they discover someone has accuses Daniel of insider trading in his company the couple face the ultimate treat for their relationship when their funds are frozen. Daniel shuts out Maddy and this just about kills her. she works in her art studio and with an offer for her pictures to be viewed at a local art gallery she moves forward without telling Daniel seeing every time they speak it ends up in a fight.

This is when Daniel will discovery whether his thoughts were right- Maddy is only with him because of his money... or will her hiring of a personal investigator help or hinder their seemingly doomed marriage once and for all!

I read this book add part of the trilogy pack, and I have to say I was quite irritated with the volume of spelling and grammar mistakes all through this book! I don't understand how it can get through editing and publishing without these being picked up!

I have mixed feelings about this book, I mean don't get me wrong I still liked it alot but I could not give it 5 stars because I really did not like how they both acted at times in this book. Daniel was so standoffish with her, short tempered, and so passive when it came to doing anything to help himself. Then Maddy was so opinionated, selfish, and what she almost did at the art gallery turned my stomach. I hated the whole young girls flirting and Gen flirting but Daniel not understanding why Maddy felt the way she did. I was so happy when they finally got it together and worked together to solve this problem and he was there to support her in her endeavor. I loved his sister, she was super supportive to both of them, it was great getting to read more about her. This book was packed full of drama and suspense but it also did have some hot sex scenes, my favorite was in the men's bathroom lol I hope in the next book they grow more in their relationship, they seemed to have more chemistry in the first book versus this book so I am hoping we get that back in the next book.

I honestly wanted to like this book. I enjoyed the previous one, despite its flaws; both characters were likeable and their interactions interesting. Sadly, the second installment in their story was dry and boring. The romance was so subtle you could've missed it. I didn't mind it much; in a weird way it showed the less glamourous, more down to earth face of affection. If the author aimed for that impression, she should've deleted the few sex scene that were thrown into the story. They were lackluster, not sexy and felt out of place. Unfortunately, the "subtlety" of the romance between Maddie and Daniel, made me question if they actually are in love. In places they were so nasty and cold to each other. Some other review mentioned Daniel being a douchebag through the story, and I agree with that. The main plot was also handled poorly. The payoff is non existent - the book just ends without closure, or I just missed it.

I was conflicted while reading this book because Maddie behavior annoyed me quite a bit or a lot until 70% of the book. I didnt felt her self center from time to time and sometimes i justified her behavior from the reason in the first book but i didnt discard a single time about her love for her husband. So maybe she wanted to be more involved and finaly i quite had my answers. By the way, I really like the fact about Daniel from the begining to the end even the book wasnt in his POV i enjoyed every aspect the book showed/described him. I had so many doubts about him and i was glad to fully understand him.

Never a dull moment!!

I really enjoyed this book. Prior to reading this I picked up the first book in this series. You do not need to read the first book in order to understand this one but I felt that it made this book even better knowing the history of these two characters. I'm a fan of boss/employee stories especially when there's a great plot to go along with it. There were so many mysteries surrounding Daniel that it kept my interest throughout. As with many books that keep me guessing I did get a bit frustrated that the two wouldn't be completely honest with each other or omitted information but that just added to the drama and made for a good read.

I skipped the sex cuz frankly writing about billionaires with kinky sex practices is the trend, and it doesn't suit Daniel n is over kill. I like the characters alot, but is my ebook malfunctioning.
Where is the ending?!
Who writes like this?!
We know he'd be free but what about the colleague guy, flo? Like wdf was this for an ending?
And did Maddy get swept away by the salt n pepper old guy? Or was it just him admiring her and being too close?
Tell us wdf happened, like come on.
This got stars solely because I like the character interaction

I'm not sure exactly sure what happened. The first book was a sweet read about a marriage of convenience turned into a true love story. Somehow the book morphed into a corporate mystery with a little nookie thrown in for good measure. Many times I thought Daniel treated Maddy badly, and she continued to take it. If I didn't already own part three I'm not sure I would read it.

Much better than the previous book. Maddy and Daniel are still married and enjoying a romantic, island honeymoon. However, Daniels' accounts have been frozen and this billionaire can barely pay his bills. Is this payback from a past crime or revenge from a woman scorned?

This was okay. I felt it went on and on about the stress both of them were under. It didn't even have a satisfying conclusion to the plot of Daniel stealing the idea. Although including crazy Flo was a good idea.
