The 2nd book in the Black Cat Records Shakespeare inspired series has more MUSIC, more ROMANCE, and much, much, more STEAM...
The wheels of love are always turning at Black Cat Records. Things are just starting to settle down there, but two Texas sisters are fixin’ to stir things up again at the Vancouver record label. CEO Mary Timmons sets spirited country superstar, Sara Daniels, on a collision course with cocky rocker, Chris Alex. Meanwhile, Brutal Strength’s suave drummer, JR, has his head turned by pretty young intern, Samantha Daniels. Do all their highways lead to happiness or will the wheels fly off when the sisters’ tragic past comes back to haunt them?
Love Revolution is a rock ‘n roll romance inspired by Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and is the second book in the Black Cat Records Trilogy. Love Evolution is the first, and Love Resolution is the third.

After Love Evolution, I was just itching to see what sort of story would come out of Love Revolution. I was graciously given an opportunity to review this before its release, and MAN, am I glad I had that chance. Granted, that means I have to wait even LONGER for Book 3, but still!!!
So, in this installment we're reacquainted with some old friends from Love Evolution and introduced to some steamy new characters. Fiesty Country Rocker Sarah Daniels...her baby sister, Samantha Daniels...sexy-ass drummer from Brutal Strength, JR...and "over-the-hill" rocker Chris Alex. (With some all important visits from Marcus and Avery - our leads in Love Evolution)
Sarah is teamed up with Chris in hopes to revive his failing music career. From the beginning the sarcastic, tense, flirty relationship is evident...with it all coming to a head after an amazing kiss. Let's just say, without giving too much away, the relationship evolution between these two is intense!! Wicked wicked intense.
Oh so sweet Samantha teams up with bad boy JR from Brutal Strength. His not-so-squeaky-clean image is in high contrast to Samantha's inexperience. But something about Sam draws JR to her in a way that he doesn't understand and can't explain. It's sweet to watch how quickly their relationship picks up the pace...with a twist that will leave your jaw hanging on the floor.
And just as a side-note - I love that two of MY most favorite things in the world are melded together (even if it is only for a scene). HOCKEY AND MUSIC!! Ummmm...yes please!! Kudos to the author for working the Stars and the Canucks into this book!!!
With all the hot and steaminess of these two relationships playing out....the past sneaks up on Sarah and Sam with an ending that's explosive to say the least!!
The author leaves us wanting more...with a cliff-hanger of sorts that makes you say, "WHAT!???!?? NO...you can't leave me like this!!"
Five unbelievable stars and one of the best series that I've read in a long time.
AWESOMESAUCE through and through!!! Read it, LOVED IT, and reviewed!!
Wow I read Love evolution and loved it but I loved this one so much more. I'm a sucker when it comes to bad boy rockers and I loved JR in Love evolution but this time it was his story and what a ride with Sam he went on . I also loved Chris and Sara . I loved that we got to know what Avery and Marques were up to. I can't wait to read the next one cus it left me saying WTF?
Much Ado About Nothing, and an okay-ish retelling. The witty repartee that is supposed to be a key feature of one couple is sadly lacking and what there is is merely jibes about age and slut shaming. The other couple actually have more character then Hero and Claudio, and we do get the public defamation (there is a lot of slut shaming in this book) and the sniveling groveling.
Michelle you already know I love this book...But for you people who are still tihnking about reading it, stop thinking and get down to reading..
It first I didn't think that a second book would be as good as the first one..But now I can honestly say that I can't pick witch one is best..
Two love stories, with a hevy dose of drama and adventure and little glimpses from Avery and Marcus kept me up until four in the morning finishing this book..
I loved both couples but I have to say that JR and Sam was my favorite..
Michelle thank you for allowing me to be one of the first people to read your new book..I hope you will give me the same gift with next one..
3.5 stars After reading Love Evolution, I was so excited to get my hands on this one. I really enjoyed it but not as much as the first one which was a bit quirky and therefore endearing to me. Love Revolution was a little more intense. Still a good story. I will definitely be checking out more from Michelle Mankin.
Love Revolution was a heckava lot more intense due to its suspense element. Don't get me wrong - with a title like Love Revolution, it has plenty of romance. Inspired by Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, Mankin does a fine job infusing the story with the personality and wit of Shakespeare. The romance revolves around two sisters from Texas - one jaded and one naive - and two rock stars, naturally. I quite enjoyed the snarky banter between Sara and Chris. Their romance bloomed around barbs being thrown. The romance between Sam and JR was more on the sweet side. One of the most enjoyable elements was seeing Sara's, Chris', and JR's views on love change - a revolution in thought. The suspense element, brought about through Sara and Sam's past, really enhanced the story. It created an edge that Love Evolution didn't have.
One thing I must note since I'm from Texas originally, is Mankin's descriptions of Dallas, Graham, and Billy Bob's, as well as how Texans would miss staples like Dr. Pepper and Blue Bell when living in a place where these things aren't readily available. That is something I could totally relate to.
This was a story with some very tense situations but a lot of romance! Sara was a serious personality who took a hard ass approach to everyone of the male persuasion. Chris was the man determined to break down her walls. Then we have Samantha, Sara's younger sister. She is the mirror opposite of Sara and wears her heart on her sleeve. JR, drummer for Brutal Strength, takes notice and the wooing begins. Each couple dances around each other and their obvious feelings. The secret they each harbor comes out and with it the danger must once again be faced.
Very good story ending with a tantalizing cliff hanger!
Two love stories. Family tragedy and trauma. Sisters, one jaded and one idealistic. There’s a lot going on here. Some continued story line of Marcus and Avery. This one mostly centers on JR, the drummer. I’m glad I read it. I liked the characters.
I really liked the story. Because of the first chapters - that felt like some warm-up practice before the big game - I strongly and impatiently hoped that something was going to happen -- and it did! In a such BIG way that it made me think that I have to prepare myself for an unexpected sad ending. In Love Evolution we had one main focus - the relationship between Avery&Marcus; Love Revolution came up with a double prize story - two sisters and two rockers - so different but at the same time so intense that leaves you craving for more: details, descriptions, confessions, chapters, music, hear-beats...yeah...I kinda have my heart in a restless wondering rhythm after finishing this book! Moreover after those last lines that closed the finishing scene!!! I'm very intrigued and already have a couple of ideas in my mind :D WHO is going to be that character that stopped *cough* a revolution *cough* in the practice room??????? Love Resolution will be the last installment of this series. May 2013 won't come soon enough for me but good things are worth waiting for, right?! ^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^ P.S. - I LOVED that I got to see a little more of Avery&Marcus. I hope that the next book will give me a healthy A&M overdose. A wedding would be a doctor's prescription :P I'm just reinforcing Marcus' thoughts :D I don't know anything about Love Resolution's main characters or plot but one guy popped in my mind - Justin(Avery's twin). Why not? And what happened to him?
Other scattered thoughts about LOVE REVOLUTION:possible
*I received an ARC to read and give an objective and honest opinion.* I had already read Love Evolution (book #1) and loved it. I was so excited to get my hands on Love Revolution! Let me just say Love Revolution rocked the house!!!! This was a little bit country and a whole lotta HOTNESS!!! I really enjoyed how we got two stories out of this one with the Daniels sisters, Sam and Sara. These two sisters are gorgeous, feisty, independent and funny as all get out. They also have the unknowing ability to bring even the baddest of boys to heel. This time, we get to know more about Brutal Strength's womanizing drummer JR and come-back rocker Chris Alex. Both these hotter than hot guys won't know what hit 'em when they come face to face with the Daniels sisters. Chris' rock and Sarah's country vibes blend seamlessly and beautifully together but that's as far as Sarah wants it to go. But even she cannot deny the intense, raw and increasing connection the two of them have. There's something about JR that Sam just can't deny her feelings for him. She knows she could get hurt in the end. He knows that he may not be good enough for her. She is everything he isn't. Neither of them can turn and walk away. Just like in Love Evolution, there is action and drama in this story. I love that Mankin brings this element to the story. It makes it exciting and gives you an adrenalin rush that isn't just from physical attraction. Being that I live in Vancouver, I was all over the story taking place here. YES!!! I loved sightseeing in my own city with Love Revolution. I also found it really cool that, there were some mention of things that only a Vancouverite would know or someone that frequently visits would know. It made the story more believable in that sense. Mankin's writing has evolved so much in this second instalment. The story flows easily and the meshing of the two stories is perfect. So although there are two stories going on, the story is not choppy in delivery. The characters are fabulous making you laugh, swoon, get pissed off and just love them all. Michelle is great at taking you on a winding twisting trip and then she just leaves you to say WHAT?!?!?! In an awesome way of course. Yep-- she left you with a mother of all cliff hangers. Now we have to wait until Spring 2013 for Love Resolution. UGH!! Just have to reread Love Revolution in the meantime. Michelle Mankin is ROCKTASTIC!!!! Love Revolution is a definite must read!!!
Have I ever mentioned I love me some BS? No? Well I do. When it is in the form of Brutal Strength of course. Can I say that I think I loved Love Revolution a tinsy bit more than I did Love Evolution? Cause I did. I think it was because we got 2 stories pretty much in one book. One amazing book that rocked my socks.
Not sure whose story I enjoyed more…Sara or Sam’s. Sara, bless her heart had daddy issues and used men up then spit them out. She never wanted to be involved with one guy for very long. But Chris Alex comes along and shakes up her world. Can she get over her past and the sins of her parents to actually make it work with him? Or will she grow old and alone singing sad country songs?
Sam on the other hand is falling for JR, drummer for Brutal Strength. But her sister has warned her to be wary of him; he has been known to get around. Soon everything is going great for them until one day jealousy rears its ugly head. Will the couple be able move forward? Or will the relationship end before it really gets a chance to shine?
Michelle really, really knows how to write a book that readers will go ga ga over. I mean look at me. I read this bad boy in less than a day and I am flippin the flip out. Holy tamales it was good. The book flowed super well and not for one iota was I bored. Too much happens in this book for one to lose interest. And that ending? WHOA! Who did Avery see?? So you know what? I say BRING IT! Let’s do this. I am ready for book 3. Like yesterday. I really hope we don’t have to wait long either. That would be a definite bummer.
So yeah, loved me some new characters and loved seeing some old characters. I was, like I mentioned earlier, ga ga over this book and it was all thanks to the characters and story lines. I had no problems or issues at all with Love Revolution…completely enamored with it. eepp! I cannot quit gushing over it. You know what? I did have a problem…way to short. I know I complain about books being too long…this one was too short for my liking. Booo! But seriously, if that is my only complaint, then consider this book near perfection.
Well, there you go folks…my two cents. If you haven’t read the first one, do it. If you have, you know it rocked, so read this one. Now! Read, enjoy, swoon!
I almost, almost okay'd this one. The prologue was strong and intriguing, but the next few chapters just couldn't hold my attention. I'm not sure exactly what it was; maybe the back and forth, but I kept having to put it down and come back to it. I guess something that let me realize I wasn't really invested was I kept having to go back to see which one was Sara, which one was Sam. I couldn't keep them straight, but I got there. It took me a bit, but I got there. It finally gained its momentum, found its rhythm and I ended up sitting in for the long haul.
Let me be clear...I liked it, but to like it I had to dig past some issues first. One being the super-fast romance. Relationships on speed aren't my thing, but that's a personal issue not necessarily one with the writing. Also, I struggled with the dialogue at times. I reluctantly have to admit that there was some pretty eye-rolling cheese that popped up here and there. However, the mushy romantic will eat it up.
Speaking of eating up (or down)...I loved JR. Seriously, loved JR. His and Sam's story was my favorite. Once it gripped me I was hooked until the end. I almost think I would have liked this story even more if it was just centered around them. Don't get me wrong, I liked Sara and Chris, but it's almost like too much was going on.
Another surprising love was Marcus and Avery. They were secondary characters, but it really made me want to go back and read Love Evolution. In fact, I probably will. That is a big reason I decided that this book was more than okay. Not only did it make me want to read the first book in this series, but it pulled me in enough to make me want to grab the sequel. HOLY CLIFFHANGER BATMAN...I have to know what happens next. Definitely an "A" for originality!
Man of man I loved Love Evolution but Love Revolution took me by storm. I mean I love me some rocker bad boys but I love me some country singers! Holy Hades Black Cat Recording is a riot. There is always something going on down there and no matter what is going down there is always love in the air. The CEO Mary Timmons just does not realize that she has something at her label but who cares when they are making her music and money right? Well in Love Revolution we get to meet twin sisters Sara and Samantha AKA Sam. Lord those girls are twins but are so different. Sara is the singer and Sam is the brains in the operation.
Sara is starting to fall in love with Rocker Chris Alex. Chris is such a sweet guy and he does everything right but Sara keeps him kinda at a distance. Chris gets under her skin like no one else has. He has shaken her world down to the core.We soon find out why because she has father issues. Her father and mother went through some stuff and she harbors that in her heart and she is so determined not to end up like them. But in the process she may lose the one true love she knows she should be with. What will Sara do? Will she let go of her insecurities or will she keep them and lose Chris forever?
On the other hand Sam is in love with JR the drummer. But her sister Sara warns her against being with him. See JR has a rep as a man whore and her sister wants to protect her so she warns her against being with JR. But the heart wants what the heart wants and it is screaming for JR and Sam to be together. What will Sam do? Will she let her heart have what it wants or will she ruin the only chance she has at true love following after her sisters ideas?
Before I begin this review, let me just note that yes, technically you could read this one as a standalone. But why would you torture yourself?? All you’ll be doing is wondering who’s who, when random characters pop up.
For fans of Love Evolution, you’ll love this one too! Again, it’s told in alternating POVs, but this time around you get to go inside two sisters’ heads, Sam and Sara, as they struggle to overcome past issues and make their way to the top of the music world. And of course, with a little romantic twists to stir the pot .
If you read my review for Love Resolution, I kinda complained about the writing being too wordy. This time, the wordiness was great (see told ya I was picky). This is why- Love Revolution is actually two-stories-in-one. You get to read Sam’s journey as well as Sara’s. Even though they both come from a tormented past, each one deals with it differently. And then you get to see them falling in love with their guys, Chris(Sara’s love) and JR(Sam’s love). By the way, I absolutely adored Chris and JR!!! Fell in love with them right off the bat, and you will too.
Even though, you get two stories it wasn’t choppy at all. They were interwoven pretty seamlessly. Props to Michelle for pulling that off!
This book was also WAAAYYY hotter and sexier than the first book. I was totally hand-fanning myself while reading some scenes, woweeee!!
Read this book! If you love funny, romantic, drama, and angst filled stories about hot rock stars than this is it!! Buuuuuuuuttt………..there’s a cliffhanger!! But no worries, Love Resolution is out now!!
Love Revolution is amazing! I read Love Evolution when it first came out and loved it. I was thrilled when the author, Michelle Mankin, sent me an advance copy to read and review (which does not affect my opinion of the book in any way, shape, or form).
Brutal Strength is featured in this book, too, but is not the main focus as it was in the first book. Sarah Daniels is a country music star who has gone to Vancouver to pair musically with country star Chris Alex. They're both smart, snarky, and hotheaded, so fireworks fly. Sarah's younger sister, Samantha, is an intern at Brutal Strength's (and Chris') record label; JR, BS's drummer, falls hard for her. Sarah tries to keep Sam away from JR but Sam has her own ideas.
Love Evolution was a very sweet novel well-suited to the younger end of the YA spectrum; I sent it to my 12-year-old granddaughter after I read it. Love Revolution is definitely New (or Mature) Adult; I won't be sharing this one with her for a few years ;)
I look forward to the third book in this trilogy. I can't get enough of hot rock stars!
I was lucky enough to win this in a 'first reads' giveaway on Goodreads. Having read, and really enjoyed, Love Evolution, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen in the next installment! Michelle Mankin definitely does not disappoint with this second book in her series. While providing just a tiny bit more info on Marcus and Avery from the first book, this one focuses on relationships for JR (Brutal Strength's drummer) and rocker Chris Alex. Their love interests come in the form of Daniels sisters Sam and Sara - Sara a very successful country singer and Sam, an upcoming PR intern at Black Cat Records. The girls have a fairly tragic family history, which has consequences (particularly for Sara) for their personal relationships. The ups and downs in this book match those of the most extreme roller coaster - at times I egged on our girls, encouraging them to take that next step, at other times I shed a tear for the boys and girls as they tied themselves up in knots that they seemed like they'd never get out of. This book finishes with a little twist that has got me looking for book 3.
As with Love Evolution, Love Revolution is well written, easy to read and I simply got lost in this gorgeous story.
I loved Love Evolution and couldn't wait for this one so suffice it to say I was beyond excited when Michelle offered me an advanced copy of Love Revolution!
In Love Revolution, Brutal Strength takes a little backseat while we focus on Chris Alex as he tries to reignite his music career with the help of country superstar Sara Daniels and we see Brutal Strength's playboy drummer try to tame his ways after meeting Sara's sister Sam, a Black Cat intern.
Again Michelle hooked me from page one and I didn't put it down until the end. It was great to see two relationships develop and grow in this story, one between Chris and Sara as well as the one between JR and Sam. I loved the writing of it as well, I really like how Michelle makes a seamless transition between the characters POV's throughout the scenes, I love when authors do that because I feel like I get a better perspective on what's going on inside each characters heads...Love Revolution was filled with everything a good book should be, love, drama, angst, sexy men AND and ending that had me wondering WHAT??? WHO??? OMG??? Needless to say I need book three like yesterday!
I have never written a book review before in my life, but after receiving an advanced copy to read from amazing author Michelle Mankin (which does not affect my opinion at all) I feel compelled to write a review. I was so sad when this book ended! It has everything, drama, hot steamy sex scenes, love, lust, mystery and my personal favorite music. Rarely does a book pull me in from page one but this one did just that. I fell in love with MOST of the characters absolutely hated one of them, even before I knew I should, and I truly can't wait to read the third book. Michelle has the ability to make you feel like you are in every room where every scene is taking place without the three page long descriptions that I sometimes skip over in other books. I pictured the furniture in the rooms, the walls, the smell, everything and felt all the emotions that the characters were feeling, at least I think they were. This and the first book of the series Love Evolution need to be on your reading list NOW!! You will love the feelings that this book makes you feel and it will leave you wanting for more.
Ok, not at all what I thought!! This author is tricky and a tease!! This book revolves around the drummer from Brutal Strength, Sara and Samantha Daniels, one of which is a country star and a former rocker who is making a comeback, but there is so much more going on as well. Avery and Marcus are also in this story. It’s nice to see how their relationship is progressing. There is a bit of a cliff hanger at the end, but luckily at this point, all three books have been released so there’s no waiting to see what happens next. I spent most of my time reading this book wondering just that, what is going to happen next?! I couldn’t put it down! This author writes some very romantic, sexual scenes. She brings the characters and the reader right to the edge and then, poof, no erotic sex scene. This is why I say she is a tease. But I’ve learned through reading her book that the story does not have to be erotic to make it an exciting ;) story. I give this story 4 stars with 2.5 hands down the pants.
So this is the 2nd book of the Black Cat Records Trilogy...I fell in love with Love evolution and could not wait for Love Revolution to come out.I do believe Sam and Sara are two amazing sisters and main characters,Okay Okay so is JR and Chris.I love that I was able to continue along with the characters as if I had not had to wait for book to release.Plus..guess who popped in?But my 2 favorite singers Marcus and Avery.I also really enjoyed that this series is inspired by Shakespeare.I truly think it Rocks. No Pun intended!Michelle Mankin Job well done!Im waiting impatiently for book 3!!!
Having thoroughly enjoyed Love Evolution I was anxiously awaiting the second in this three book series. Mankin did not disappoint-her characters are well developed and three dimensional. Catching glimpses of Avery and Marcus were the high points for me (though I wish they had played a more pivotal role in this one). The focus of the story is on two couples, Sara and Chris and Sam and JR. Sam and Sara are sisters who share a haunted past. The development of the storyline moves at a good pace, while allowing the reader to be drawn into the events unfolding. An easy read-I look forward to the last one Love Resolution due out in Spring 2013.
I totally adored the book #4 in the Kiss Kiss set. Who in the world can go wrong with a little country & a lot of Rock & Roll?
Throw in some totally bad circumstances, and a bit of drama, and romance you got one hell of a book!!
The Daniel sisters have gone through a heck of a lot of drama in their lives. The hardships went through made them the strong, sassy, and brassy girls they are today.
Overall, this book is "amazeballs"!! I am totally going to get the other books in her Brutal Strength series.
You have to read this book to get the jest of everything I just said. So get to it y'all. It's worth the time!!
I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book and I was honestly pretty excited to dive in considering how much I lurved Love Evolution. It's like Michelle is psychic. She knows exactly how I like my books - fast paced. She grabbed my attention and didn't let go until I read the last word. I also love that it isn't told from just one or two character's points of view. I like knowing what everyone is thinking and feeling. Well written, interesting and full of drama. I love it, I love it, I love it!!
Another entertaining read from Michelle Mankin, this one considerably more spicy than the last, maybe a little too much for a young adult read . . . depending on the age of your young adult I suppose. I enjoyed this book more than the first in the series mostly because there was more of an emotional struggle portrayed in each of the characters. They felt more relatable this time around. I was also glad to see a reprise of Marcus and Avery for brief moments! I think Michelle is hitting her groove and doing a great job! Way to leave us with a cliffhanger at the end!
Ok so I woke up today and I said to myself (I'm finishing this book today) and that's what I did :D the book was a quick read and cute but I had a problem with the characters .. I mean Chris is a nice guy but I can't shake off the creepy picture I have for him and the way he looks at Sara .. (shudders) .. JR is another story .. I hate this guy, I can't see what Sam see's in him .. he should work harder to get her because he is such an asshole moving on to the next book because the ending was a cliffhanger
The second verse is only the same as the first in that it is absolutely amazing! I was given an advanced copy of this amazing book where Ms. Mankin continued to develop the characters that we met in the first book. Then she added a little down home country twist with some awesome new characters that completely complement Marcus and Avery. The Country twang and rock n' roll riffs were blended seamlessly! A definite must read. I can't wait for the final book of this trilogy!
I totally loved the second book in this trilogy. Love Revolution was everything and more than I expected. It more than lived up to Love Evolution (which is one of my fave books of 2012) and I loved every second of it.
I cannot wait till the 3rd book is out as the ending has left me wondering who Avery saw in the hallway.....could it be her twin brother??? Ohhhh I hope so as it would be awesome to read his story in the last book....
I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of Love Revolution which definitely is a great addition to the Black Cat Studio trilogy! Following the format of Love Evolution, this story uses a Shakespearean plot line (who can possibly be a better model than the Bard?) set today with the introduction of believable and likable new characters. However there is no need to know Shakespeare to enjoy this entertaining and fun read. I loved it! Download and enjoy!
