The first time I read this story I fucking cried because this was the story Butch and Vishous deserved. Their love is a tale as old as time and as true as the sky is blue.

If you don’t know who Butch and Vishous is, well I recommend reading J.R Wards BDB series and get lost in all that is badass vampires drinking grey goose, killing assholes, and listening to gangsta rap.

I was hella pissed in the series when The Warden didn’t write Butch and Vishous together but instead gave us “Ocean Breeze Marissa” and “Puff The Magic Jane”


Like my dudes were already soulmates and you went ahead and gave them a tepid water love story 😡 In all honesty I don’t hate Jane or Marissa I just was never on board for their love story with my fave vamps.



True is their love letter written for them and about them giving them the HEA they deserved. Vishous is my #1 for ever and ever and True gave me my dream of having him fuck the shit out of Butch

Holy shit. The authors captured the two of them beautifully......187 pages of everything I ever wanted in this story but never thought I could have. Every thing else in the world feels a bit wonky but it's been a really long time since I've read the series, so it may just be me. Highly recommended.

All the freaking stars for this amazing piece of fanfic.
I love me some BDB, but I never cared much for Marissa or Jane. I always felt that Butch and V belonged to each other. The two authors of True gave me the book I wanted for Vishous and his cop. They did an amazing job giving them the kind of story I felt they deserved. Also it's a full size book, not a short novella, which allows for a delicious buildup.
I loved it, loved it, loved it. It pushed all my freaking buttons.
I recommend 100%.
And for those who need visuals, I'll leave you with these I found. Because that V is perfect, and no-one better than Hugh for my Butch.

I can’t believe this was here and I never reviewed it. I believe I can be the one person who has read this fanfic more times in the history of fanfics, that’s how PERFECT it is.

If you haven’t read the Black Dagger Brotherhood books you will have no idea what I’m talking about but if you have, then you know Vishous and But h SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOGETHER. Don’t fight me on this one.

So, if you are a true believer (pun intended) you must read this. You will cry with this perfection. I know I did. I make my point to read this one and Lover Redeemed (another EPIC fanfic) at least once a year so I can quiet my heart and rest it assure that my two favorite vampires are together.

Also, V and Butch fanfic was the thing that got me hooked up in m/m books. Because gay sex is everything.

I didn't know this was on Goodreads, I've read this more times than I can count. It deserves more than 5 stars. It was the HEA that V and Butch should have gotten. I always felt they belonged together, even the author said that Butch was suppose to be V's and this fan fic gave V his cop.

I've been seeing tiktoks of the Passionflix series of Black Dagger Brotherhood and it has made me sentimental about V and Butch, so I gave this fic a reread.

I'm not going to do a full review on this, because it is a fanfic. I read a bunch of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books when they first came out. And before V and Butch got their own books I was shipping them to get together. I read some fanfiction of them and it slapped. This fanfic is my favourite V and Butch story. I love them together. Their banter and bond is top tier. I wish they had been canon!

This fanfic has a ton of typos, but it's a fanfic and I can't judge it for not being edited. The story is five stars.

Some notable moments:

"Butch tilted his head, raising his other hand up to hold his chin like he was in serious thought. The smile in his eyes gave him away. "Freelance, huh? Right then. Whaddya charge?" The cop's face was trying to keep like he was serious, but he was failing miserably. Fuck he had missed this. "S'cuse me?" "Well you're freelance ain't ya? For hire. What's your fee? I got a neighbor with a cat that howls all night. Annoys the ever-living shit outta me. Think I could hire you? Y'know, take care of this problem for me." O'Neal leaned forward onto the table, now grinning unabashedly. "How much to off a cat?""

""How exactly am I supposed to introduce you other cops?" Butch kept on, but threw down a twenty and got out of the booth. "So this is V," he mimicked. "Yeah, I'm not sure what he does either because it's all top secret and shit, but he's here to help. Swear. Don't mind the tatts or the fact that he looks like he'd eat your dog for breakfast. He's cool. Scout's honor." V's eyebrow raised into his hairline. How was it that the cop was the one person that could make him question his sanity? "I do not look like I'd eat someone's dog. Do you think I look like I'd eat someone's dog?" Butch headed for the door so that V had to follow. "I don't think you do, but c'mon. Someone that doesn't know you? One look. Dog eater.""

I love Rhage ""Holy Fuck," someone said. "Well that cat is outta the bag," Rhage muttered, somehow managing to look both as guilty as hell and pleased as punch. Fabio wiped a hand down his face. "Virgin in the Fade." Military man stood rigid, looking between Butch and V, then Wrath. "My Lord?" The King had that stunned mullet look on his face, which was almost amusing on a man that large and intimidating. He shook his head and pointed at them. "Both of you. My office. NOW!" V nodded at Butch and followed Wrath. Butch fell into step behind them and caught a glimpse of Rhage, bringing up the rear. Wrath sighed as he looked back. "Both does not include you, Rhage." The blonde actually pouted, sucking his teeth. "Ah, man." As they started up the stairs, watching the very broad back of the King,"

As much as I love a romance story of Butch and V, it felt strange that the friendship they made in BDB just disappeared. I love their original friendship and how they became friends, I just didn't want Jane and Marissa in the picture. In fact, - sorry if this is cruel or mean - I wouldn't mind if they died (really died) and Butch and V found romance love in each other. Though mostly I wished they never met Jane and Marissa... So I have to be honest and say that I struggled getting into the book. In fact, I wanted to quit it quite fast. But I continued on, and I found myself smiling either way. Though it was not how I wanted things, it was still a nice alternate version of how thing could have been. Fuck, I wish Butch and V as lovers was real though. It would've been a dream come true.

It wasn't just that V wanted into the cop's life, but he wanted Butch to be inside of his. It was insanity and he knew it, but the desire to have him there grew stronger every time they were together and each time it felt more ... right. V knew more about destiny than most and, even though he'd had no clear dreams about him, he knew Butch had to be a part of his.

Ver una historia don Butch y Vishous han terminado juntos fue de lo más interesante, dejando de lado toda la información y cosas que terminan cambiando respecto a la saga original de J. R. Ward.
En ciertos momentos la trama hace que te agarres de los pelos por lo que está sucediendo, y hay algunas escenas que no me convencieron del todo. En general a pesar de que Vishous me resultó un poco diferente al original me gustó la relación entre los dos y se me pasó volando a pesar de ser un fanfic bastante extenso.

This stole my heart. I’ve always been Team V and Butch. Always. And this felt so much like it should have been what should have happened. Absolutely grateful I ran across this searching for BDB fanfic. JR Ward herself could have written it—that’s how much it felt like a true BDB book, down to the last detail. I’m an editor, and when even the fact it is unedited didn’t stop me from reading or enjoying when I rarely read for pleasure now (I audio 😉 unless it’s work), you know it’s fucking fantastic.

I have read and re-read this story so so many times.

I loved it, every single time.

This is Vishous and Butch story. And I'm sticking with it.

It really scratched that itch! As soon as Butch met V I was like, hellllooooo. I was so verily disappointed that these 2 not linking and was verbally abusive to my dishes and laundry while I listened to their books.

Things that did it for me in this fic:

The banter- Chef’s kiss.
The flirting- oh Butch, you precious thing.
The presmex- the first kiss, swoon. The touching, swoon swoon. 1-3 base, mind blowing.
The angst- it was a good pain. The best kinda pain.

Room for improvement-

I did appreciate the takeover of skills by V, but I wanted more instructional and less let me do it. I mean, Butch is a CIS and of course was very nervous about the whole sitch and I get that but I wanted a more back n forth. Because…

Butch was very verbal in his book and I wanted to hear more of his talking about stuff. So I think his quiet was a little OOC in that respect. Butch being a talker during sex was such a turn on and I needed more of that. Also, Butch was experiencing male vamp bonding characteristics and I would have loved for him to experience that with V.

Thirdly, I wanted the whole scenario! I was like, whaaaat, when we got to the 6 months later ending! On one hand, I understand the respectability of not reiterating events already established in a book. I don’t want plagiarism. I wanted a ‘what if’, timeline continuum, blatant reboot of these character’s lives which included the ‘kidnap’ and eventual turning. I wanted to see the creativity on what could have been different but still getting to the same end game of Butch turning with V as his Hellen.

All in all it was a fantastic story. I know I’m coming way late to this party and I’m just fantastically glad I found a copy of this to enjoy and I did thoroughly enjoy it!

So yea, this is absolutely the right and only way Vishous's book should end. I expected rewrited parts of original so I think the ending was a little bit cut off, but I see the point of protecting original author I guess. I was really pissed when Ward split V and Butch, cause they fu*king had the chemistry and it would took one sentense for them to be together. No Jane no Marrisa, thats how it should be. It went to a point I lost interest in whole neverending series because of this. So I really love that somebody end it this way :) thank you
