Mary is a southern girl living life large in the big city of Chicago. She has everything she could ever want. Everything except a man to share it with, that is. When she is dumped by yet another boyfriend, her best friend introduces her to the world of Female Dominance and Male Chastity.
This world is a new concept to Mary and one that she finds intriguing, despite being raised in a staunch Catholic family. The more she researches the topic the more interested she becomes in the prospect of locking a man up for her own.
As she embarks on a new relationship she struggles with the desire to lock this man up. While she likes the new man that has entered her life, she begins to find many similarities to the others that have come and gone before him. She is left feeling that this relationship will just follow the path of the preceding ones. Resolute, she decides to bring about a change in order to save this relationship. Chastity is the only answer. Through this, she is determined to teach a man how to be the best man he can possibly be for any woman. The only question that remains is can she ask such a thing of him and will he accept this new role?
wow. I was excited to have the chance to read this book. I thought the description was well-written and the topic was a interesting. once I began reading though, it was definitely a struggle. the third person present tense was so difficult for me. the lack of dialog did nothing for character development, in fact, I didn't really have strong feelings about any of the characters one way or another. while I do not live the lifestyle, the extreme to which Mary changed seems a bit far fetched. I felt she was, at times, cruel to Stuart. and found it more difficult to believe that he would want to continue in a relationship being treated this way. I also felt some of the phrasing during the sex scenes was completely overdone...in fact, was a turn off. not the acts of what we're being done, just the phrasing used to describe it. The first third of the book contained way too much background info for me and was distracting, found myself skimming thru a lot of it. I kept reading because I was hoping for some kind of emotional connection to develop between Mary and Stuart and I don't feel that it ever happened. I also felt the ending was rather abrupt. I don't want to be hurtful but this was a difficult book to get thru for me. it rarely takes me a week to read a book
I just love this book (on my second read-thru) and thought it was a great value for the price. It was funny, sad, and sexy all in one. The sex scenes in the book were creative and exciting. I can't wait to read the second book as soon as it comes out.
With the dire lack of intelligent, quality, non-extreme books out there regarding mf femdom, I was excited to read this in exchange for my review.
I have to say I LOVED the subject: Spurned gal reinvents herself as a female dominatrix. That alone earns a couple of stars.
I did have a HUGE issue with the perspective and the tense it is written in. It is very strange and I don't ever recall having read another book like it: Third person, multiple POV, in THE PRESENT TENSE. So It was like : "Mary undoes her garter belt and she puts her coke down on the table" and "Stuart thinks he would like to see Mary again" Through the entire thing. Tiresome, for me. I enjoy different POVs, and I'm ok with first person narratives, but this just threw me off completely. I kept focusing on it and how much it bothered me rather than the actual story.
Also, there is a LOT of background information that I skipped through. About Mary's parents, Aunt (That part was more tolerable and part of the necessary elements to the story) and longtime and new friends. I am sorry, but mentioning parents and moms in a sexy novel is just a big, giant, blaring red-light and siren no-no for me. Such a turnoff.
I gave it 3 stars because I think with some minor tweaking, it could be a great story. The sex is pretty hot, and although it graphically features the characters are quite tame in what they do to each other. Its not really extreme or mean spirited, which I liked. The characters really want to get to know and please each other, and despite Mary's reservations she, I think, gets her HEA.
The ending was a bit "up in the air" but it was alright.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes reading mf femdom subjects with no menage of mm and ff stuf.
I was very excited to receive a copy in exchange for a review. From the moment I read the description I was interested in learning about this type of lifestyle. I had no idea this even existed. I thought the story was very good and liked that there was an actual story rather than just too many sex scenes thrown into a book. I'm very excited to read the sequel to see how the relationship accelerates. It's a good length and doesn't drag at all. If you don't know anything about make chastity this book is informative since we see Mary learn about it before and while she develops a relationship with Stuart.
What should have taken one chapter, two at most to get the background going took a ridiculous amount of the book. The storyline didn't seem to start picking up the pace til close to 3/4 of the way through. I found the main character very unlikable. She came across as very judgemental, selfish, spoiled, petty and self righteous. I kept thinking that the guy deserved to find someone much better than her, that he was most definitely settling for third rate, not that he was perfect by any means! In addition a major edit needs to be done. The narration is in the completely wrong tense through the entire book. Very frustrating to read. On a very minor note, the author did not seem to do any or at least, very little research into the subject of chastity.
