Perfect blend of teenage crushes and lurking danger.

Rory has everything a teenage girl could wish for: a warm, loving family, a hot guy who adores her, and popularity at school. But when she gets trapped in a storm drain with an adorable chocolate lab pup, her life takes a sharp detour. The puppy belongs to Gage, a boy with a shady past who Rory had a major crush on.

Meanwhile, teenage girls are disappearing. When her friend Lindsay disappears, Rory's parents and older brothers clamp down on her movements. Rory takes to sneaking out her window and climbing down a storm drain to be with Gage and Bailee.

Through many twists and turns, testosterone displays, and lots of teenage angst, Rory escapes danger and makes her decision. What I liked about this book was the first person narration. Ms. Dillon does a wonderful job of portraying teens, where the stress of deciding what to wear or who to go to a party with is on par with avoiding a murderer. The most delightful character of the book was none other than Bailee, Gage's puppy who sealed the deal, as far as I'm concerned.

You'll enjoy this light-hearted read with a moderate suspenseful element. I received an ARC provided by the author.

Seventeen year old Rory (Aurora) has a habit of attracting trouble. And the opening paragraph is only the beginning. Rescued from impending danger by her childhood friend , who has returned to Wynter Island she now has to choose between Dom the guy her family approve of and like or Gage her returned friend who has a bad reputation for the wrong reasons.

When a classmate goes missing and strange things start happening to Rory her overprotective parents go overboard with restrictions. Has the serial kidnapper that has been quiet for so long returned to prey on young girls again? Did she really witness something sinister as a child?

I had a few suspects in the back of my mind but this novel kept me guessing and kept me interested through out, her premonition like dreams also had me intrigued and curious!

I really enjoyed the mixed genre story line that ranged from light romance to suspense. And like the author I'm a teen at heart when it comes to young adult romance.

Rory is one of those girls who has trouble following her and mishaps befalling her wherever she goes. Whether it was her own bad luck or something much more sinister, she often found herself in bad situations. When we first meet her, she’s stuck in a storm drain after trying to save a puppy that somehow managed to find himself down there during a downpour. Thankfully her childhood best friend Gage, all grown up and gorgeous, was there to be her knight in shining armor.

I loved the relationship that Gage and Rory had as kids, they were so sweet together and I was anxious for that to grow into something more for them as teens reunited. He was the ‘bad boy’, returning to a town that took one look at him and saw a trouble-maker, even when he didn’t deserve the title. But Rory remembered him for what they’d shared in the past and was more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I feel like we don’t get as much of an all-encompassing look at Gage as was needed to really make him that irresistible love interest, but he won me over with his dedication to Rory’s safety even when it hurt him. He was selfless when it came to her, and he was more than patient with her indecisiveness. Rory had all but been married off to her good friend Dom by her parents, but she was still trying to decide if she could even see him as more than a friend. She could either take the safe route with the guy that she cared about, or she could take a risk with the ‘bad’ boy who made her heart race. While Rory and Gage didn’t have that amazing chemistry that I like to see in reunion stories, I still liked the two of them as a couple. Dom was a sweetheart too, and there were moments when I was almost as indecisive as Rory was over the two boys. But every time I thought back to those years when she and Gage were inseparable, everything else paled in comparison.

When a teen went missing in this town that had already had its share of trauma years ago, it immediately sent warning bells off for everyone. Could the killer be back? Why was this happening again? Who would be next? The suspense surrounding the missing girl and the clues that keep popping up and seemingly putting Rory in danger were all good twists to keep the reader entertained. I wasn’t certain who the bad guy was right away because there are a few creepy guys in the picture who fit the description of a violent stalker/murderer. Some were a little too obvious so it was easy to rule them out, but I liked that this wasn’t entirely predictable.

Rory unfortunately didn’t impress me much as a main character, even though she had some heroic moments as the suspense came to a boiling point. Throughout the story, I felt like her voice didn’t match up with her age, and it bothered me more as I read on. She was frustratingly naïve and posed questions to herself that often made her seem oblivious to what was going on, so it didn’t feel like I was reading the thoughts of girl who was a senior in high school. I liked her, I just wish she fit the personality of a typical 17-year-old a little better.

Overall, this was an entertaining mystery with a sweet love story that was blooming underneath the surface. Though it didn't wow me, for those who enjoy a good suspense/mystery with a subtle young romance, this might be right up your alley.

Quotes:

He was back? I hadn’t seen or heard from him since we were eleven years old and he move with his grandparents to Florida. And his first impression of me on his return? A drowned smelly rat in a storm drain. Fabulous. ~ Loc 81

I put my forehead on the glass of the side window. I let the tears come. I had a few minutes to get them out, and then I had to be done. I didn’t even want to think about what just happened. What if Gage hadn’t come? What if he had been a few minutes later? ~ Loc 2320

I was about to let him have it, but he kissed me, and I forgot what I was going to say. I would annoy him later. Right now, kissing him was more important. ~ Loc 3511

When Rory was a little girl she had a best friend named Gage. They got into all sorts of trouble when they were kids. One night Rory was preparing the best hiding spot ever when she saw a guy loading what looked to be a body into a vehicle. Of course, the excitement caused her to have an asthma attack and the guy soon found her hiding spot. However, it was because of her friend Gage that she was able to escape the clutches of the killer and run to safety. But a couple week later Gage moved away, never to be heard from until he returns for their senior year of high school. Now Rory's life is flipped upside down. Not just because her childhood crush is back, but because the abductions have started up again.

This was not the story that I thought it would be. You don't really get the sense that it's a YA thriller/romance from the cover. The synopsis doesn't really help matters anyways. However, the fact that it was a YA didn't really bother me. It just took me a few chapters to start picturing a young girl instead of a woman.

The author did a great job balancing the romance with the suspense. Once the reader would start getting comfortable, something would happen, and you were thrown back into the fray. The author gives you tiny clues as to who it could be but she also leads you to dead-ends as well.

For being teenagers the characters of this story were really mature. There really was no pettiness, no cliques, or crazy drama. That's very rare in a young adult novel. So, I was happy that I could just focus on suspense and romance without all the stupid dramatics.

My one and only gripe with the story was the convenience that any time Rory was in any sort of trouble, Gage was there to save her. Didn't matter what/where/who, he was there every time. Either the boy was stalking her or he was just always at the right place at the right time when none of her friends seemed to be. I don't know, I just felt like once there should've been a time where Rory either handled the issue herself or got saved by someone else.

Regardless this was a great story. This is mature enough to be enjoyable by adults and yet it's appropriate for teens as well. There is mention of drinking but there is no sex and virtually no swearing. There could've been absolutely no swearing. If you're looking for a good no-drama, romantic suspense, then this is a good one.

Oh my oh my oh my! I loved absolutely everything about this book! I loved Rory, I loved her family, even her over protective dad, cos there is nothing better than a man who can recognise his mistakes, her twin brothers, her friends, Dominic, even the old paramedic (who we meet more times than has to be normal!) this book literally kept me on the edge of my seat! I told the author when I was about 20 pages in that I already knew this was going to be one of those books that meant a 3am finish, I wasn't far off, it was a 2.10am finish! I couLd not put this book down!

Aurora (Rory) is one of those girls that always seems to end up in trouble, who ends up stuck in a storm drain trying to rescue a puppy that isn't even hers! I liked her from page one, she wasnt full of 'oh woe is me', she was a typical girl trying to grow up in household full of testosterone! Her best friend Dominic wanted to be much more than just a friend, but never came across as pushy, in fact I didn't know whether I wanted her to be with him or not, I really liked him, he seems to be the perfect friend! But then her old childhood friend Gage arrives back in town and he gives her squirrels (doing a number of dances) in her tummy and we all know that that means so much more than contentment! He isn't the typical boy next door though and while trouble seems to find Rory, gage finds trouble!

In the midst of all this teenage drama the kidnappings start again, but this time it's someone they know that's gone missing. Rory suddenly finds herself in the middle of the investigation, break ins, a mysterious hooded stranger, an over amorous friend, and 2 men vying for her attention!

This book is made up of 2 clear stories but they work perfectly together and it is testament to the author how she kept me guessing throughout! My heart was thumping by the time I got to the basement scene and the outcome was more than I'd ever imagined!

I truly hope there will be a number of other books in this series, there are so many more relationships that need to have their own story!

This really was brilliant and I'm glad to have a found a new author who's books I just know I will devour.

Crushing was full of suspense, romance and teenage angst. I loved it!

Rory grew up in an overprotective household with not only great but overprotecting parents, but also older twin brothers who had their own ways of being overprotective. She has a nice life, complete with a best friend (Dominic) who everyone would love to see her end up with - including Dom. Until one day, her childhood crush moves back into town. Her perfect life is turned upside down when she realizes that Gage (childhood crush) makes her tummy do dances like never before.

To top off this excitement, a friend goes missing and in fear of a serial kidnapper from before being back, her parents put her on lockdown. We get snippets of the captive girl and are constantly questioning everyone we see, trying to figure out who the kidnapper is.

I read it on a Kindle -which if you know anything about me, I am a paperback person- all the way, and I just don't pay attention to details on the kindle like in a normal book. Yes, I know there's that little bar at the bottom that tells you how far along you are but I don't naturally look down. So many times I was so absorbed in the book that I would suddenly panic that it might end soon (see I need print so I can feel how much is left.. lol) and have to check at what % I was.. lol. Thankfully for me, it was a longer book which worked out perfectly! I felt that the author had plenty of time to work out the love triangle between Rory and Dom(current best friend)/Gage(old friend, moved away & now back) without feeling rushed.

In actuality, this could have been two completely separate books (YA- romance story & mystery/suspense) but they were meshed together so well that it made it a great book full of twists and turns. The author kept me guessing til the end on who the kidnapper was as well as who I really wanted Rory to end up with. I was so conflicted between Dominic and Gage, but I think it works out well in the end for everyone ! I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will turn into a series because there are so many other relationships I want to explore.. Jackson & Veronica would be my chosen next :)

I received a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

In December 2012 I discovered a new author. Elena Dillon. I loved her first book Breathe, so when I got the chance to read her latest novel, Crushing, I jumped on it.
Synopsis taken from Goodreads:

As a pampered and adored daughter of a wealthy Southern family Rory's life was seemingly perfect until her troubled childhood crush moves back in across the street forcing her to choose between him and the life that has been chosen for her.

As if that isn't enough, her quiet island town has turned dangerous. A good friend has gone missing, lending truth to the rumors of a serial kidnapper. In her quest to help she becomes a target and will have to make choices about love, friendship and the inevitable sacrifice that they both require.

Crushing is superbly plotted with highs and lows that keep the reader interested. The story is good and full of suspense. The setting was easy to visualize which is a major plus because I’m not familiar with the world of country clubs and golfing.

The characters are well-developed, sometimes annoyingly so. Getting to know these teenagers is just like being thrown back into high school. All the personalities are there and yet Dillon has given each of them distinct voices. One of the negative aspects for me is the direct result of such good character creation. Some of them are just plain unlikeable and annoying. The flip side is that I developed an affinity for a few.

The repetitive mention of southern characteristics grew a bit tiresome and it didn’t quite engage me as thoroughly as Breathe, but overall I really enjoyed this book. If you haven’t jumped on the Elena Dillon bandwagon yet, I suggest you do so.

* I received a copy of this book in a goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review*

This book was a pleasant surprise for me. With an equal amount of teenage romance and mystery it made for a pleasant and page turning read.

The story revolves around Rory who seems to find trouble wherever she goes. She is in her last year of high school and is on the path that her parents want for her. They even push for her to date the boy (one of her best friends) that they want. Her childhood friend and crush moves in across the street, all grown up and gorgeous and her parents want her to stay away because they think he is trouble. So begins the love triangle that we all love to read about. Add to that the disappearance of a high school friend, a serial kidnapper, and strange and unusual things happening to Rory and you have a great combination of page turning events.

With a romance and mystery you would think that one story would out weigh the other but Dillon does an incredible job of balancing the two so that they are equally interesting and entertaining. I found myself wanting to figure out the mystery just as much as I wanted Rory to figure out her love life. The two blended perfectly.

There is a huge cast of likeable characters in this book from the over protective twin brothers and a group of amazing friends to an ambulance driver that appears (a few times) throughout the story. As far as the boys go, Rory can't go wrong. Both boys are more than worthy of the readers adoration to the point that you may have to pick a team. I won't say who I was routing for so that I don't give away any spoilers!

Over all Crushing was a very solid read and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys the young adult genre. Elena Dillon is a new to me author who I will be checking out more often.

I don't read lot of murder mystery types, but this book intrigued me. I was not disappointed either! I started reading it and had it finished in less than 24 hours. I just had to know who was behind the kidnapping and killing of the teenage girls. I also had to know who Rory would choose to be her boyfriend. With three guys fighting for her affection and her ability to be completely oblivious to how strong their affections go, you will be on edge trying to see who she ends up with. I personally was cheering for her childhood friend Gage the whole time. The other two, Dominic and Holden, have been her friends for a long time in the absence of Gage. Unfortunately, Rory's family has had too high of hopes that Rory and Dominic would get together, something that definitely will turn a teenage girl off. Holden, only recently started showing Rory his interest and he goes about it all wrong. He only pursues her after he's been drinking and is less than suave about it.

The underlying story though is about a mysterious person that kidnaps teenage girls. They eventually wash up on the beach many weeks and possibly months later. This serial killer seems to be stalking Rory. The possible reason is because his last victim, who is missing the entire story, looks a lot like Rory. No one has a clue who it is, except that six years ago, Rory was pretty sure she saw him getting ready to dump a body when she was playing hide and seek on a golf course. This nightmare has plagued her off and on, but now it has taken a scarier turn with the recent events. Will they find the killer? Will they find Lindsay, the missing girl, before it is too late? Who will win over Rory's heart? The author does a great job at leaving you guessing about all three outcomes until the very end. It was a great read.

Everything about this book was stellar!!! All the characters made me love them in one way or another! Rory, her dad, who is way overprotective, Gage of course, and then her brothers, her best friend, Dominic. When Rory gets stuck in the storm drain trying to rescue a puppy, I liked her from the very first chapter. She reminded me of myself. When her crush from highschool shows back up that’s when everything took a turn. Dominic is wanting to be more than friends, but he would never push Rory to be something that she did not want. There was all sorts of trouble once Gage came back into town. I loved that this book was the perfect mix of suspense, teenage drama, and mystery. It did not leave a lot to desire which is good when it comes to a book. When you keep wishing there was more for all the wrong reasons…that’s when you know that it is going to be a hard read to get through. Crushing was nothing of the sort. I just wanted there to be more because I loved what I was already reading.

Rory is way overprotected and it reminded me of myself when I was younger. When girls start going missing, she is put on even farther lockdown until the kidnapper can be found. I loved that you were given the chance to have little blurbs from the kidnapped girl. You were thinking everyone was to blame!

I love longer books for the most part so this book was perfect for me at 360 pages. I am a 300-400 page reader, although I do love the short story every now and again. I guess you could say I just don’t like stories or getting to the know the characters to end too quickly!

I will not spoil anything for you so that you can read for yourself, but the ending worked out splendidly for everyone

Disclosure: I was given a copy of Crushing to review and give my opinion. It may differ from that of yours.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author to provide an hoenst review.

I was hooked from the first page!! Aurora (Rory) is just the type of girl that trouble seems to follow and she certainly gets herself mixed up in plenty of it! I loved the story from the start and and all the characters involved, from her overprotective father and twin brothers who still treat her like she's 5, her circle of friends who have some really funny moments to the paramedic she encounters more than once!

Life seems to be ticking along nicely for Rory, the only thing upsetting it, is that her best friend Dom would like to be more than friends and it would make her mum and dad so happy since they have known his for years, but she's jus not sure if she like him likes him or jus friends! Then her childhood best friend Gage move back to town and suddenly squirrels are conga dancing in her stomach and we all know what that means!

Things in her small town have suddenly, got very serious when a girl from her high school goes missing, and this isn't the first time this has happened, Rory once witnessed what she thought was the kidnapper but never spoke to anyone about it. Events start to unfold that could put Rory in serious danger, but she has other issue to deal with in the form of male egos and caveman tendencies for guys to mark what is theres, why can high school not be easy!

This is a great story from start to finish and I couldn't put it down! There are some great lines in this story that had me laughing out loud and that I had to read several times over! There are definitely further story about some of the other relationships and I look forward to reading them!

Would highly recommend this book!!! Is a must and read and I will certainly be reading more books by this author!! Loved it!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review

Aurora (Rory) is a senior in high school and stuck under her parents thumb. They have her whole life planned out for her but it's not the life she wants. She wants the freedom her older brothers have. Unfortunately, due to her medical condition and the fact that trouble seems to follow her like a dark cloud, her family insists on being extremely overprotective.

Gage is the bad boy across the street who was sent away when they were 11 for being "too wild". No matter where he goes, it is impossible for anyone to see past the rumors that follow him and get to know the real him.

Dom is the "boy next door". The one she should be with. They've been best friends for a long time and he is always looking out for her. Rory is confused as to who she wants to be with; the gorgeous guy who she is expected to be with, or the one she subconsciously gave her heart to long ago.
Girls have been going missing on and off over the years and recently it has gotten worse. After a girl from school goes missing, Rory is put on a much tighter leash. Things keep happening to her that make no sense until she finally starts to put the pieces together. But it may be too late.

I really liked this book, although I had a bit of trouble getting into it at first. It kept me interested but didn't have me pulled in so deep that I couldn't put it down. Though, I was happy that it didn't end the way I had thought it would. It was a guessing game and I enjoyed that I couldn't easily figure out the ending. Overall, I think it was well put together.

The opening chapter of Crushing was one of the most amusing ones I have ever read! Rory has the magic of drawing trouble like a magnet. Wherever she goes, she manages to end up in sticky and sometimes very undesirable situations, like jumping inside a drainpipe trying to save a puppy when it’s pouring rain and filling up by the second. She’s not one to think things through, she just jumps into whatever comes into her mind and later deals with whatever outcome she gets out of it.

Now, I would have wished Rory not to complicate her life so much when dealing with boy drama plus her constant state of denial. She was too good of a person and because of that, things got a little out of hand. Gage and Dominic were indeed heartthrobs, and while Dominic seemed to be the sweetest, cutest and loved-by-everyone kind of person, Gage simply was the one to root for. It didn’t hurt that he looked like a model, cute when taking care of Bailee, the puppy, and someone you could really count on to protect those in need.

Rory’s parents and twin brothers, including Dominic, were too overprotective and sometimes corny, but likeable and nice to get to know. Her brothers were so funny, not to mention smart, and gorgeous, the story would have not been the same if those two weren’t in it.

With an engaging plot filled by mystery and suspense, Crushing is a great read that will keep you guessing until the very end. Let me tell you, it’s not who you think it is.

This book was very well written and I loved every moment of the story! I will definitely be looking for more from this author in the future. Rory was always finding trouble and even when she was trying to do the right thing, it somehow managed to get blundered more often than not which made for some frustration and laughs. Gage and Dominic were both such good guys, but I loved Gage because he had so much going on and had more facets to his personality that were revealed throughout the book. Even the side characters, like Rory's parents, Nathan, and Wilson had their own layers and facets that played into my enjoyment of the book. None of them felt like side characters to me even though they weren't involved in every part of the book. And who wouldn't want a friend like Veronica? I kind of hope we one day see where Veronica and Jackson may go as well. I am glad that everyone got some semblance of happy ending. I read this book in one sitting simply because it was so easy to get into and I just wanted to keep reading. I didn't want to put the book down until I knew the answers to the mystery and found out what ending everyone had. In short, this book made me smile, laugh, and sigh various times and was more than able to keep my attention. I can't wait to see what else this author has in store now that I have read her work.

Equal parts terrifying and charming, Crushing is a fascinating read. The plot could have easily been a mystery story that tried to throw in a romance or a romance novel trying to appear edgy, but it wasn't. Elena Dillon weaves these two elements weave together seamlessly and it makes for a really fun ride.

And while the story itself is great, it's the characters themselves you'll fall in love with. From Rory's best friend Veronica to her hilarious and overprotective twin brothers, each one possesses something endearing. And of course: the boys. I won't spoil anything for you potential readers, but suffice it to say that while you may have a personal preference, both the romantic leads in Rory's life are worthy of your love.

Last, but certainly not least, there's Rory herself. The story is told from her point of view and while this is my favorite style, it's an admittedly risky option. It can be hard to get into a character's head and let's face it, sometimes the character narrating is just plain annoying. Nothing to fear here though, readers! Rory is smart, funny, and very likable. It's enjoyable watching the story unfold through her eyes, even if you might not agree with her every step of the way.

This book is definitely one that I would recommend. Elena's writing flows smoothly but keeps you engaged. You won't be disappointed! And I have no doubt that we'll see more great things from her in the future.

Elena Dillon keeps you guessing the outcome all the way to the end of this captivating murder mystery. Rory is a Senior in high school. She has it all a good Southern family, well off, a nice looking guy every teen girls dream. Rory also has the tendency to find herself in hairy situations. Like being stuck in a story drain in the pouring rain , because she decided to rescue a puppy.

Rory's old crush Gage breezes back into town and not only surprises Rory he rescues her. Suddenly her entire world is turned upside down. Rory doesn't know how she feels about the boys in her life. Not only that her friend Lindsay has been kidnapped and the entire town is searching for her. Rory's parents are now on edge and stricter than ever. And Rory's nightmares from when she was 11 years old have returned. Along with a serial killer from that time.

Lots of twist, lots of testosterone being huffed and puffed and teen drama . A little bit of romance and murder mystery Elena Dillon has written one great story.

I was given a ARC copy for an honest review.

I am used to read contemporary romance. So I kind of had to alter my thinking when it came to rating this book. I'm kind of going back to my earlier days when I read more YA books. With that said, I really enjoyed it. It kept me interested all the way through.

I loved all of the main characters. When I started reading, I just sort of got caught up in all the drama. Rory was my favorite character and who the story centered around. She had a great attitude even though she always seemed to find herself in unfortunate situations. She is a senior in high school. She comes from a good southern family, has great friends, and two boys vying for her attention; one typical good boy who her parents loved and one that had a bad rep. I'm sure you are thinking you know where this is going, right? Probably not!

There are some turns and twists to this story. Throw in some murder, mystery, suspense, and a love connection and there you have it! For me it was a quick enjoyable read. I don't want to give too much of the story away, so I would recommend reading it yourself. You'll be glad you did!

Thank you for allowing me to review it.

I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. Rory’s life seems perfect. She has great friends, she’s best friends with her parents best friends’ son. Unfortunately, he’s crazy about her and although he’d make the perfect boyfriend, she’s unsure if she shares his feelings. Then out of the blue, her childhood crush moves back in across the street. He’s gotten older, taller and gorgeous! With his surprising return begins the rumors of his troubled past. Which are true and which are lies? Added to that, a teenage girl is missing, will she be next?

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I’d expected it to focus mainly on the romance aspect, but it was a perfect mix. I was completely engrossed from start to finish. I found it amusing that Rory had a knack for getting herself into trouble. The mystery was amazing, and had a few twists. When you find out who the serial kidnapper is, it’ll certainly shock you! This was an amazing hard to put down novel, one I’m sure many of you will enjoy!

This isn't my usual genre, but couldn't seem to drag myself away from the suspense. Even when I had to leave, I synced the story on my phone, and read while waiting or riding in the car. This one sucks you in big time, and with books, that's never bad.

I lived in SC for five years, and I always connect with places I know. I loved the southern hospitality references, oh and the squirrel references were hilarious. Now I'll admit the sport of choice, I know nothing about it, but Rory loves to golf and SC has lovely courses, or so I've been told.

Characters, Rory grows on you, but her struggles and decisions felt real. She's from a well to do family, so most of her turmoil is angsty, teenager stuff like freedom, friends, and of course those dumb boys she'll never understand.

Ok onto the mystery. This is where the story takes a dark angle, but I'm saying that and that you'll never see the bad guy coming. Even if you think you have it pegged.

Bravo and can't wait to read more in the future.

*Received book in exchange for honest review*

I highly enjoyed this book. Rory is a Southern girl that has her friend Dom interested in her when her childhood love Gage moves back across the street from her. In between deciding between two guys and battling her father to let her make her own choices and decisions as is she 18, one of her friends goes missing. The disappearance brings about memories for the whole town of a time a while ago when girls went missing and Rory gets out in lock down by her parents.

I liked Rory from the beginning and how the book was written from her perspective and some of the thoughts she had made me laugh out loud, as I would have had the same thoughts in the same instances. I found myself on the edge of my seat at the end of the book and I cheered for who Rory chose at the end of the book as I had wanted that all along. All in all, I'd enjoy maybe a follow up book in the right circumstances, but it is also good as a stand alone. I'd recommend the book the people for sure that are interested in YA, mystery and romance

a great little love story. It has a bit of mystery and a bit of angst-y love and tug of war.

I really liked Gage. I thought he was sweet and great and just a really good guy to read about - minus the crazy angry violence.
And I thought her brothers were really cute.

But Aurora - Rory - I thought she was a little scattered. She waffled a little too long for me (I wanted to shake her and tell her to pick one already!)

I would have loved more mystery and more time devoted to what I thought was the theme of the book - the girls disappearing and Aurora trying to find out who was doing while trying to keep from being taken!

Instead it just seemed to be much more about her trying to decide who she wanted to be with and getting to know Gabe but being friends with Dom (I like to think of him as Dominic) and...about Golf.

I did enjoy the story and really loved the moments with Rory and Gage.

Elena, THANK YOU for this amazing book.

I gave this book 5 stars and I really believe it deserves every single one of them. When a well written book actually gets a physical reaction out of me, I know it is deserving of a great rating.

This is the story of a girl whose childhood crush moves home. The ensuing drama is amazing. Besides boy drama, there is also the threat of kidnapping with other girls going missing. The result is her life basically on lock-down and how she handles all of it.

I loved watching her discover herself and make her choices... It was great. I also loved her brothers.

The only thing I would have liked would be a wrap up to the Veronica Jackson situation, but that's not central to the story - just my curiosity! LOL.

Basically what I am saying is if you like YA romance with a bit of adventure mixed in, then this book is for you!

READ IT AND LOVE IT!

*I received a copy of this novel in return for an honest review.*

First things first, five amazing, heart-warming stars for this wonderful book!

I absolutely loved the character development and being able to grow with the main heroine, Rory. I honestly could not put this one down! Elena, you have a way of weaving two of my favorite genres together and making an amazing story out of them. Between Rory and Gage and the mystery of the missing girls .. ahhh! I loved it!

Trouble just seems to be this girl’s middle name and the action mixed in with the romance made for an unforgettable read. The circle of characters that you meet from her overprotective to the max parents to her twin brothers and friends, I just needed to know what would happen next.

Elena, thank you for such an amazing story! I loved every page of it!

What an incredible read! I don’t even know what to say other then to read, read, read it! That’s all... Now seriously, go read it!

I want to start off by saying I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked this book, it had suspense, romance, and mystery. What's not to love? The author did a great job at creating characters that you grew to like and could relate to as well as a plot that was fast-paced and kept you on the edge of your seat. I was kind of shocked, but not 100% floored, by who the person behind the kidnappings turned out to be. After on specific incident and the follow up that occured, it was kind of obvious that it would be that person (trying so hard to not give spoilers :P). Even though it was not as shocking as it could have been, the story was still great and I definitely couldn't put down the book.

I would highly recommend this book to those who like mysteries, suspense, young adult, and romance novels. Just get this book, already! ;)

I loved this book. As soon as I started it I couldn't put it down. I'm one of those people who can always tell who the murrder/kidnapper is with the context clues, but this time I couldn't. When the killings/kidnappings started and stopped when Gage came and left, I thought the killer was his father trying to get his attention or something. And boy, was I waaaaay off. It was a really great book. I love books that have mystery and romance put together. I was confused when the author(Elena Dillon) kept on making squirrels and dance references together. Don't get me wrong I love squirrels 'cause I have an on going joke about them with my grandfather all the time and I love to do dance. But I guess it was to describe her feelings. But other than that I loved the book I hope there will be a book 2.

I won this book in the author's giveaway & was asked in exchange for an honest review when I was done reading it. It took me a little while to read the book but I finally finished it. It was a really good book. It had a love triangle. A high school teen went missing. & things keep happening to Aurora. It seemed to have more romance than anything else but it still had a little bit of mystery. When it came time to find out who the serial killer was I never saw it coming. (No worries, there will be no spoilers in this review). I guess in a way the person was odd but I never thought they would be the one taking teen girls & killing them. If you love romance it's a good read. If you love mystery it's still a good read but like I said it has more romance than anything. But I still think it's a must-read.
