Townsend Harbor #4

Star-Crossed

Rate this book
Everyone thinks LYRA MCKENDRICK is magic. She’s not, for the record, just a lawyer who predicted a few outcomes that were blown out of proportion in the robust Townsend Harbor rumor mill. After a messy breakup in which she lost her thriving practice, she’s returned to her hometown to lick her wounds and is persuaded by a local town cook to capitalize on her cringe-worthy reputation by running the local new-age shop. How hard could it be to sell chakra-cleansing crystals, libraries worth of tarot cards, crops of candles, and enough incense to choke out Willie Nelson’s entire entourage? When one of Townsend Harbor’s many ancient trees threatens her plumbing, she engages Cypress Forrester, aka “Cy the Tree Guy” to rid her of the problem. Instead, he seems intent on becoming one.

Cy’s family have been arborists and healers for generations, and they’re firm believers in the mysticism of trees, among other things. When she hires him to chop down an endangered tree to save her business, they find themselves on opposite ends of a battle neither of them is willing to lose. As a man tethered by indigenous roots to the earth, Cy immediately realizes Lyra is a woman who lives in her head, which often disassociates her from her heart, body, and intuition. It’s how she always finds “practical” explanations for the series of unexplained, serendipitous coincidences that keep thrusting them together. Alone. But Cy knows better, and he realizes that he must tempt her out of her thoughts and back into her body, and what better way to do that than by a thorough seduction?

Star Crossed already started a little bit in a hole for me since Lyra was kinda a jerk in the previous book to Gemma (who I adored) so it was a little difficult to get on the she deserves a great man too bandwagon for awhile. She is really prickly and it didn't get any better at the first part of the book.

Lyra and Cy knew each other in high school. Cy was the happy go lucky jock with a town full admirers. Lyra was a band geek who spent the majority of her time studying. When they had an impromptu make out session on the bus back from a game, Lyra was so hurt when she found out it was because of a dare. She never let cy explain and that has set between them since that day.

Cy is not the boy from high school everyone remembers. He was in an accident that ruined his football career and now he is back in Townsend working the family business. He is known as Cy the tree guy and everyone assumes he is still happy go lucky. But usually that is an act and no one has seen through it until Lyra.
Now, he just kept a smile plastered on his face to cover the molten core of self-pity and loneliness that haunted his every waking moment. Like a goddamn adult.

I loved Cy! He is a little bit broken, which I am a huge sucker for. Everyone in town treats him a little differently now, they all want to "help" because of the scars the accident left him with. But they don't understand that only makes him feel worse and not better. Lyra though, she doesn't treat him any differently and it just makes him want her all the more.

The story grew on me, but I never quite got over all my dislike of Lyra. I did understand her better towards the end but I still have some small issues with her overall. Still the ending was decent and I don't begrudge them their happily every after even if I wanted it to look a little different.
Tell him that he makes your mind quieter and your heart louder. That you love his smile, his empathy, his kindness, and his ass.

Overall still enjoying the Townsend Harbor stories and hope for some more winners in the future.

As a former New England defense attorney, Lyra’s life was on the fast-track with a finance who turned out to be a total loser. Lyra McKendrick could best be described as prickly, and I enjoyed getting her story, especially after the events of the last book. After her breakup, she has come home to Townsend Harbor. When a historic tree damages the plumbing in her sister’s shop, they call in arborist Cypress Forrester. Cy and Lyra share a complicated history, and I loved this story of second chances and character growth.

The story and romance that unfolded delivered a charming second chance story with plenty of heat and lots of laughter. I love the diverse and unique characters in this series and was glad to see Lyra get her own happily ever after. The authors didn’t change her personality, just her perspective, and I enjoyed watching everything unfold.

Fans of romantic comedy, small-town romances and realistic characters will want to pack their bags for a trip to Townsend Harbor. Star-Crossed can be enjoyed as standalone, but watch out for minor spoilers regarding previous characters. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

This book follows the format of the other three books in this series. They’re pretty short, and I definitely like a longer book with more backstory and more heartbreak. But, it was a fun, quick weekend read.

Gemma's twin sister, Lyra, is up and she's at as much as a crossroads in her life as Gemma was. Maybe more. I only say that because Lyra had been holding onto the idea that she had to be the practical twin, the twin that keep on track, the twin that did what needed to be done. She didn't give herself the luxury of ever allowing herself to fail which means her breakup with her fiancé (who was a total d-bag, thankyouverymuch) and subsequent joblessness sort of sent her spinning.

BUT...now she's settling into Townsend Harbor. Mostly. She gives brutally frank tarot readings, has to deal with a new-age shop and all the new-age people who come with it, and she's starting to find herself a piece at a time.

One of those pieces lies in Cy's direction. After a missed opportunity when they were younger, an accident that made Cy learn to live with limitation he never expected to live with, and more than a little miscommunication (because Lyra was locked up tight and didn't want to deal with the angst that came with listening) circumstances force Lyra and Cy to deal with one another as (mostly) mature adults. On Cy's end, he sees in Lyra everything he could ever want, but he's dealing with those aforementioned limitations (some of which he put on himself) and that has him as locked down as Lyra was about communicating.

Small town shenanigans, a little oversharing by everyone's favorite uptight former sheriff, a few cranky tarot readings, a whole lot of family, a man who keeps himself hidden until his special someone tempts him out, and a lady who is very lost until she allows herself to be found. GOOD STUFF.

They did it again. I feel in love all over again with Townsend Harbor and the cast of characters the reside there.
Lyra McKendrick may be the most relatable of all the main characters in this series. For those of us who can be seen as ‘prickly’ it was refreshing to see that type character get a hea without a full personality change. Plus Cy Forrester was a great foil for Lyra. Between their electric chemistry and their ability to see behind the shields the other hides behind, you are rooting for them from page one.
As with the other books in this series, there was representation for those either overlooked, marginalized, or stereotyped. All the characters felt authenticated, that they could be real people. They weren’t one dimensional.
An amazing read. An amazing series. Would recommend to anyone.
I received this book from the publisher/author at no cost to me and volunteered to read it; my review is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.

It was fun and a good read, I loved to see familiar faces.
I love second chance romances because characters evolve and in this book that was something that I enjoyed, how Lyra and Cy grew up, but the attraction they had was still there but different.
This might sound cliche but I like that the message of the entire series so far is that people don't need to be "perfect" to be loved and find love.
Cy and Ethan's friendship was something I loved about this book!

Even though I liked it, I'm still a bit salty about how Lyra treated Gemma in the previous book. (Yeah, Gemma is still my favorite and I'm petty like that 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️)

Thanks to the authors for the free ARC.

"Star-Crossed" is book four in the "Townsend Harbor " series by Cynthia St. Aubin and Kerrigan Byrne. I absolutely love this series and think that each book is my favorite. This book had so many funny moments, and I loved every second of it. My favorite scene was when Lyra was talking to the little boy, and he acknowledged her. I also liked the relationship between Lyra and Cy and how they were able to overcome things from the past and work together to get things accomplished.

Fun story!

I really enjoyed Cy and Lyra's story. They had history from when they were younger, and their attraction was still going strong. I felt like they each had their own challenges in their lives, and they were learning how to adapt. I liked how they made each other better and more secure in themselves. This was a really fun story.

Well, I was pretty much hooked at the promise of a hot arborist, so maybe that's my kink. But if that hadn't lured me in, the opening scene would have done it. There's just something about Lyra that's super relatable. If you've ever worked in a customer service job and held back what you really wanted to say, you'll appreciate it.

Things I loved:

Sexy, relatable MCs
Spicy love scenes
Kittens
Learning about arborist technology
The town and all the townsfolks
All the feels!

What else could I possibly want?!

So far, each book in this series seems better than the last. More dialed in. More emotional. I can't wait for the next one.

To the authors - Thank you once again for allowing me to read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Fantastic work!

Faszinierend! Begeisternd! Unglaublich!

Didn’t find this book enough to “warm up” or make Lyra likable enough, think Cy could do better.

Overall improvements in writing style with some outright laughs. Nice to see more authentic representation in this one, but still seems like the authors are ticking off a list of underrepresented conditions in novels, hence the stars.

This series must be read in order.

(Still weird tangents in sexy times about the oddest things. Bald eagles?! Really)

These two authors have the greatest chemistry when crafting a story for their readers to devour! I look forward to every release in this small town romantic comedy series that deals with real life issues while they're entertaining us. This is Gemma MacKendrick's mirror twin sister who couldn't be anymore different than her sister. Gemma's at a crossroad in her life and the characters of her hometown Townsend Harbor help her find herself and heal. Of course the former high school football star Cypress Forrester, now arborist, decides it's time to press his second chance with her. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and they have unfinished business between them. I loved watching Lyra blossom from the bitchy city girl always pushing herself, into finally understanding herself and making peace with who she is. These last two stories help me understand more about the autism spectrum as both sisters deal with it. Fabulous story!

Lyra MacKendrik is a bitch who's life has fallen apart. She was a high powered New York lawyer who's ex cheated on her and left her with nothing. Harrison Lynch is a rising star in the financial sector who showed he was a cheating, lying malignant narcissist. She goes home to regroup and finds herself running the new age shop. The historic Victorian house is also where her sister's craft store, Stitch and Bitch is located. Unfortunately they discover tree roots have invaded the sewer line stopping things up and creating a stink. That's when she has to call Cy the Tree Guy to deal with the giant Ash tree beside the house. These two have history from high school when they made out in the back of a bus and got interrupted. She still holds a grudge over that incident. Boy do these two have chemistry...sparks fly when they are interacting.

Cypress Forrester is dealing with his own issues. He was injured five years ago that ended his NFL hopes and came home to help with the family arbor business. He's using work to avoid coming to grips with his disappointing life. Then Lyra MacKendrick comes back home and he thinks she needs to get out of her head and have some fun, He decides she needs a little seduction and he's more than glad to volunteer. Being in Townsend Harbor they get lots of help from the townspeople. This was just a delightful story to read that shows us a very unhappy gal who comes to discover she's on the autism spectrum. It explains her attitude and why she's always so in her head. Between the two of them they find love and focus in their lives.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lyra McKendrick is a former hotshot, New England defense attorney. She moves back to her small, touristry hometown after a terrible breakup. Lyra finds herself working at the local new-age shop that neighbors her twin’s store. When a historic tree damages the shop’s plumbing, she reluctantly calls the one person who can help. Lyra and Cypress have history, one she wants to remain firmly in the past. However, fate has other plans.

Cypress “Cy” Forrester comes from a family of arborists. Around town, the locals refer to him as “Cy the Tree Guy”. When Lyra calls him about a tree problem, Cypress comes to her aid. Seeing her again reminds Cy of their past encounter, one he never forgotten. He likes Lyra’s prickly, no-nonsense nature, but she is not interested in a relationship. However, fate keeps tempting them by crossing their paths.

I like how Lyra is not as perfect as people believed. She has her own set of problems to confront and deal with. At first, especially in BAZAAR GIRLS, I did not like her that much. Lyra came off too cold and vitriolic for my tastes. However, my opinion of her changed near the end of book three.

I LOVE that Cy is a closet gamer and fantasy nerd. I freely admit to geeking out on the many Dungeons and Dragons references. It made me fall head over heels in love with him. Now if only he was into anime… LOL. I am not that familiar with LEAGUE OF LEGENDS, just the name because it is my oldest son’s favorite game.

STAR-CROSSED is the fourth installment in Kerrigan Byrne and Cynthia St. Aubin’s romantic-comedy series, TOWNSEND HARBOR. This series needs to be read in proper order. The story picks up after the events in BAZZAAR GIRLS, book three. The couples from the previous three books crop up continuously throughout the story. FYI – Gabe still makes me swoon!

I like how this series centers around characters who suffer from real life problems. They are less-than-perfect, and that makes them so identifiable. This book touches on autism and prosthesis.

I hope this is not the end of Townsend Harbor. Kiki, Cy’s sister, needs a book!

This is the 4th book of the Townsend Harbor series. It is my second favorite of the series. You do not need to have read the others to understand what's going on, as the authors do a good job of summarizing.

Lyra McKendrick is back home after a failed relationship that turned her whole world upside down. Always labeled as an ice queen, she now has a new moniker as a fortune teller. Lyra doesn't, but it's helping pay the bills right now. She running Star-crossed, while the owner is traveling. Water continues to back up in the basement, and the plumber is telling her to call the arborist.

Cy "the tree guy" Forrester has known Lyra for most of his life. After kissing her on a dare, things go very badly. Cy believes he's cursed, because he's had several unfortunate accidents involving a cow. After losing his football scholarship, he is back home running the family business. When Lyra calls for the arborist, she calls him.

This is a second chance, small town romance. It has a lot of my favorite elements: closet nerd, strong independent woman, cinnamon roll hero, witty banter, and wonderful supporting characters. One of the supporting characters is a cat, who enjoys interrupting some of the more romantic scenes.

Another element to the story that is very important is that Lyra is late diagnosed with the autism spectrum disorder. The book does a really great job of explaining what that means to her and how she is working to incorporate this new knowledge into her current existence, while reconciling with her past experiences. If that wasn't enough, Cy is an amputee. The authors do a really great job of describing his day-to-day struggles with normalcy.

My favorite scene comes at the end of the book where Cy is telling Lyra how much he cares about her. It is the most rambling and beautiful groveling scene I have read in a long time in a romance novel.

This is well worth the read! I highly recommend it.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Star-Crossed by @cynthiastaubin and @kerriganbyrne is a beautiful, sexy, and laugh-out-loud love story. 💙

Blurb: Everyone thinks Lyra McKendrick is magic. When one of Townsend Harbor’s many ancient trees threaten her plumbing, she engages Cypress Forrester, aka “Cy the Tree Guy” to rid her of the problem.

This book was honestly my favorite of the series!!! I love Lyra because like her, I am neurodivergent and act somewhat “different” than most people. And finding love is even more difficult when you are not neurotypical! But Cy is such a sweetheart and I adored his thoughtfulness/devotion to Lyra, despite her personal struggles. I want to personally thank the authors for writing this fantastic series that highlights neurodiverse FMCs!!! Cannot wait to read the next one. Also, Happy Release Day!!! 😊🌳🔮✨

This wasn’t the gentle lovemaking she was used to—this was something entirely different. Rough, primal, verging on dangerous. And she loved every second of it. She positioned herself on the bed, gripping the headboard as Cy drove into her from behind. A broken moan escaped her lips. So full. So deep.

“You’re so beautiful like this,” he rasped, gaze smoldering as he watched her come undone. “So open. So wet. So mine.”

Look here folks, Star-Crossed just might be the most bewitching chapter in the Townsend Harbor series. Kerrigan and Cynthia have conjured up a marvelous narrative with this gem! The characters are just as quirky and insane as ever dishing out their own brand of madness, and the story? It’s a rollercoaster of fun. Hilarious, steamy and captivating, Star-Crossed is a wonderful read, skillfully navigating a maze of real-world issues. And the men!!! Somehow, Townsend Harbor seems to house some of the sexiest men around…each possessing a sexpertese that'll make your soul flutter among other things.

Let’s talk about Cy. This man is amazing. Aside from being sexy as hayle, he’s sweet and compassionate and rescues cats…and what he does with his wood is simply amazing (the man’s an arborist folks, get your mind out the gutter)! Lyra, on the other hand, she’s a whole ass mess. Until a few months ago, she was a successful lawyer in a “loving” relationship with the “ideal” man. But then it all fell apart, so she’s now back home, fake reading tarot cards and crystal balls while trying to get her life together. When an old tree threatens her plumbing, she calls "Cy the Tree Guy" for help. But what she gets is more than just a tree removal and a whole lotta wood!

Star-crossed is pure magic, weaving a spell that will leave you yearning for more. If you’ve not been to Townsend harbor, now’s the perfect time to pack your bags on head on over!

Lyra & Cy

I read this in November and I can't believe I didn't post a review! I loved the love story between Lyra and Cy. It wasn't too angsty but it was right on the edge for my taste. But I love the town and all the characters so much I can not wait to continue reading.

"Star-Crossed" by Cynthia St. Aubin and Kerrigan Bryne is a romcom that masterfully blends second-chance love, opposites attract, and sizzling chemistry. Set in picturesque Townsend Harbor, the story is a delightful blend of heartwarming moments, intermingled with serious themes.

Lyra McKendrick, a rising high-powered attorney, returns to her quaint hometown after a painful breakup. She is a character who's as prickly as a thorn bush and as blunt as they come. Lyra's no-nonsense attitude makes her an unconventional but utterly endearing protagonist. As she temporarily resides in Townsend Harbor to navigate the path forward in her life, she takes up a rather unexpected role working at a local new-age shop adjoining her twin's store, injecting a delightful touch of humor into her typically straightforward existence.

Enter Cypress "Cy" Forrester, a member of a family of arborists, who shares a history with Lyra. Cy is portrayed as a cinnamon roll with layers of trauma stemming from the tragic loss of his mother during childhood and a serious injury from a car accident. His kind and gentle nature stands in stark contrast to Lyra's sharp edges. Cy's character evokes sympathy and endears readers with his strength in the face of adversity.

When a plumbing problem arises due to a historic tree, their paths cross once again, sparking a series of humorous and tension-filled interactions. The authors do a commendable job in exploring the emotional complexities of their shared past while igniting sparks and chemistry in their present-day interactions.

The opposites-attract theme is brought to life through Lyra and Cy's characters, showcasing the magnetic pull between them despite their seemingly incompatible personalities. Their witty banter and heartwarming moments create a palpable connection that's sure to tug at your heartstrings, all while addressing the complexities of their personal challenges.

"Star-Crossed" combines humor, romance, and a touch of fate to craft a compelling love story. It's a heartwarming journey of two individuals overcoming their differences and past traumas to discover a love that feels destined, all while promoting representation and understanding. If you're in the mood for a scorching romcom with characters as prickly as thorn bushes and as sweet as cinnamon rolls, "Star-Crossed" is an excellent choice and, without a doubt, my favorite in the series.

Lyra McKendrick is a no-nonsense, spitfire who hides her true self behind her bitchy exterior and she likes it that way. She's been a power, high end attorney and is now stuck back in Townsend Harbor with her former crush Cy Forrester and a cat she doesnt want.
Cy the tree guy has more going on than most of the people in the small town know. He's into Dungeons and Dragons, he's got a prosthesis, and he just cant shake his lust for Lyra.

These two actually were made for each other, both hiding their true selves. They have a rocky history together and both feel stuck in Townsend Harbor. When they do hook up the steam is great, but the rest of the time, its brooding and being helpful to the rest of the town's residents.

I really have liked this series of books, most have been 5 star reads. This one fell slightly for me in that I didnt connect with either main character. Lyra is just straight out bitch. I understand her, I laughed at her inner musings and thoughts but I just thought the cold, ice queen act went on a little too much and it seemed most people just accepted that she was that way and excused her behavior but there really was no excuse to verbally bash people just because she didnt like them. (for example- most of the customers who came into the shop). She was really immature in this way.
The storyline to me just seemed to go in a circle, these two clearly liked one another but I didnt get a true love, they just fit together vibe like with Cady and Roman or Gemma and Gabe.
Overall, strong writing, laugh out loud scenes, steam, and a return to the quirky township and its eccentric residents. And of course a cat!

Finished 1/9/2026
3.5 rounded down to 3.

CW/TW: on page car accident, death/grief of parent, foster care, mental health, ADHD, Autism, ableism, wildfire

Nerdy Arborist MMC. Environmental Lawyer /running small Metaphysical shop FMC. Both MCs have different disabilities represented. I did like their falling for each other but I was kinda in and out of the book and it didn't really keep my interest for long periods of the time. I actually very much enjoyed the third act! Cy's panic babbling was fun. Nostradumbass was great and I will not stand for Captain Crunch slander!! Didn't care much about ethan in his own book but really loved him in this book, that's a best friend for real.

Still not a fan of third person, but liked it was dual narrated.

Interconnected to book 1 Cady/Roman "Fox", book 2 Darby/Ethan, book 3 Gemma/Gabe, and book 5 Sirens bar mentioned.

Audiobook narrators: Teddy Hamilton, Stella Hunter
Dual POV, Third Person
Tropes: Small Town, Second Chance, Forced Proximity, Workplace, Disability Representation
Notable Microtropes: He washes her hair
Spice: 2.5/5 (Personal Scale) - 6 Open door scenes and however some of them very short. Descriptive explicit sexual language is used. Vanilla monogamous sexual acts. Plot still drives story but may miss plot details if skipped.
Spicy Chapter:

Listened at 1.75x.
Teddy Hamilton is my favorite! Always love him in everything. Very familiar with Stella Hunter and one of my faves, great guy voice and range of other characters. Both super expressive and love their narrations.

This is my second Townsend Harbor book, and I love them the more I read them. They are just so hilarious and entertaining, but there is a lot of heart and emotion running through them as well. The characters are endearing, they tug at your heart strings.

Lyra, a lawyer by trade, returned to her hometown of Townsend Harbor after a disastrous breakup. She takes over running the new-age shop and tries to put her life back together. When an ancient tree begins to interfere with the shops plumbing, Lyra has no choice but to call in Cy Forrester, the local arborist and the first person she, almost, made love to. To say their relationship is tense would be an understatement, but after being thrown together multiple times, to include such things as a greenhouse and a litter of kittens, they begin to understand that, maybe, they are the other half of each person's heart.

I love all the small town elements that are featured in these books. In this one for example, we got to see several of the shops, a breakfast social and a Horrorween Festival. The detail and creativity are what make these books so enjoyable.

Lyra and Cy are both people with scars, literally and emotionally. Both of them had to work through a lot to realize they needed, and wanted each other. When each reveals something important, I really love how the other never judged, just accepted and did their best to listen and be a comfort.

I am pacing myself because there are only a limited number of these books, but I can't wait to read more!

This book and this series is a wonderful celebration of love and features characters who are realistic and have real world issues. If you’re looking for the cute and always perky perfect girl next door you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. But if you enjoy reading stories about people who are differently abled and just as deserving of meaningful relationships then this is the series for you!
Lyra who is featured in this story is the twin of the mc from the prievious book. She didn’t always come off in prior books as well likable (sorry not sorry it’s true) but her we delve deep and realize the old saying to not judge a book by its cover is true once more. Cy is a guy from her past who’s now very much the guy in her present. The question is will they be able to work through their differences and build the relationship they both deserve.
Very enjoyable story! I love the opposites attract vibe that carries from couple to couple through the series. While I do recommend reading the previous books in the series it’s more for your enjoyment than anything else. The authors do an excellent job of ensure continuity and yet also allowing each book and thus each couple have their shining moment. Great story!.

I requested an ARC of this book, and all opinions are my own.

This series hits so many high notes that you would think there wouldn't be more, but this story again tops the rest.

Lyra McKendrick has moved back to her hometown after a very public break up with her well to do fiance, but is having a hard time readjusting to small town life.

Cypress Forrester is the town's go to guy when it comes to anything tree-related, but he longs to let the nerdy online gamer side free.

They once shared a steamy moment on the back of the bus after a high school football game, but before anything more could happen the universe intervened and they went their separate ways. Seven years later the universe has seen fit to throw them together again in a series of 'you have got to be kidding' situations that just keep getting worse. Ultimately, though, they can't deny the still sizzling attraction from years ago, and give in to the craving.

I don't want to give away any spoilers, but let's just say they both have challenges to overcome, or at the very least accept, before they're able to find their true happily ever after, but find it they do - in all the best ways.

Such an enjoyable read - especially if you have ever found yourself facing a life-altering situation.

Another wonderful book from our Kerrigan and Cynthia. I absolutely adore Cy; he’s not exactly a ‘typical’ romance hero, he’s better than that. It’s obvious he absolutely adores our female protagonist and there’s going to be lots of sizzling sessions which we might be able to find out about! Seriously though, the thing I love about Kerrigan and Cynthia’s Townsend Harbor series is that all of the characters are so incredibly well written and you come away feeling like you know them all. Take Vee, for example. I swear she’s from Liverpool and was a hippy back in the day (I’d love a book about how she met Myrtle, ladies, hint hint!). This book has confirmed that I want to visit Port Townsend in person with copies of the books, go around and see the places which have inspired this series (not that I haven’t already done that on Google Maps lol!) and maybe even bump into the ladies and their respective beaus. I sincerely hope Cynthia and Kerrigan never stop the Townsend Harbor series as it brings me so much happiness and escapism from all the cr*p going on in the world.

I wrote this trying very hard not to include any spoilers lol 😝

Star-Crossed by Kerrigan Byrne & Cynthia St. Aubin was a wonderful addition to the Townsharbor series and such a satisfying coming-home, second-chance romance.

Lyra and Cy’s story was deeply emotional in a quiet, meaningful way. Their connection felt genuine and mature, built on understanding each other’s needs rather than grand gestures, and I found that incredibly touching. Watching them navigate old feelings, regrets, and the pull back to one another made this romance feel earned and heartfelt.

I really enjoyed the dual POV, which allowed us to see how both Lyra and Cy processed their emotions and decisions. It added depth to their relationship and made their journey even more engaging.
One of my favorite parts was the inclusion of familiar faces from the rest of the series, it truly felt like coming back home to Townsharbor and catching up with old friends

I listened to the audiobook and loved the dual narration. The narrators did a fantastic job bringing both characters to life and added an extra layer of emotion to an already beautiful story.

A warm, comforting romance that fits perfectly into the Townsharbor world.

Star-Crossed by Kerrigan Byrne & Cynthia St. Aubin is the next installment of the series set in the seaside town of Townsend Harbor in the Pacific Northwest. Lyra ends up back in her hometown after a failed relationship in the big city. She is a high-priced lawyer in a tiny tourist town. What could possibly be there to keep her attention? Could it be Cy, the one guy who began to thaw the ice queen in high school on a dare? He stopped in front of her, eyes half lidded, muscles rigid and chest heaving, as if keeping a lethal beast in check. He towered over her in a way that was devoid of intimidation but terrified her all the same. Lyra could feel the heat rising in her cheeks. The intensity of size gaze made her feel like he was seeing right through her. She knew what he was capable of and couldn't imagine what he must be thinking right now tension thickened the air between them, and the silence pulsed with unspoken desire. The chemistry between these two sizzles! Kerrigan & Cynthia have created another masterpiece.

This is a great second chance romance between two people so different you would never imagine them together. Lyra was the smart girl in High School. She played in the band. Cy was a star football player who got all the girls. You would never put these two together until one night on a bus trip. Lyra thought he was paying attention to her on a bet and hated him ever since.
Fast forward to the present, Lyra was a successful lawyer in Philadelphia until her fiance ruined her live. She's now back home trying to recover. The one person she wants to avoid is Cy. He is also back home. His football career was cut short by an accident and so he is home working at the family tree trimming business.
In a small town it's hard to avoid anyone and gossip flows like water. The two can't avoid each other and it turns out there is an attraction that never went away. The chemistry is off the charts and these two are like magnets and iron. They try to decline it but everyone can see it.
The ending not only provides a Happily Ever After but also a great solution to their lives together.
