The worst has happened – Anne de Bourgh and George Wickham are married.
Fitzwilliam Darcy is willing to accommodate the couple at Pemberley for Anne’s sake if not for her husband’s, for he puts little faith in Wickham’s promised intentions to change.
With Georgiana temporarily displaced by the new arrivals, Elizabeth embarks on the running of Pemberley whilst keeping her new family together. How will the new Mr and Mrs Darcy fare in trying to do what is best for their family and friends, as well as preserving their own happiness?
The Consequence of Haste is book five of A Convenient Marriage, a Pride and Prejudice variation novella series.
Meg Osborne is an avid reader, tea drinker and unrepentant history nerd. She writes sweet historical romance stories and Jane Austen fanfiction, and can usually be found knitting, dreaming up new stories, or on twitter @megoswrites
The story continues. It cannot get any worse as Darcy could not prevent the marriage of Anne and Wickham. Can Wickham change his ways, does he want to. The story moves to Derbyshire, where Georgiana is staying with the Hursts and Bingleys. Really enjoying this well-written series of novellas and look forward to the last one.
I am really enjoying this series and how all the characters are evolving as well as seeing the different relationships present and developing. This book continues with Wickham's character improving himself and trying to become better for Anne. We also get to see more of Georgiana in this book and I look forward to reading more about her in the next book in this series.
part of a 6 book series called A Convenient Marriage. They’re all decent reads and all of them are short (not short stories but about 150). And each one takes on a couple and their road to the altar. Unfortunately, in all these books you have to endure the typos and grammatical errors that accompany poor sub-editing. I don’t know if Meg Osborne is self-published, but I would hazard a guess that she is because of the types of errors and typos in her books. If an author has a publisher there will be an editor and a sub-editor. A sub-editor is the primary person responsible for fixing any grammatical errors, misspelled words, etc. and often items will change whole sentences in order make them more accurate or readable. When an author publishes their own books (as most do these days because eBooks are significantly easier to publish than hard copy books) they can choose to either be their own sub-editor or they can choose to use a program that searches the text for errors. When a book is littered with errors, making it very hard to read, its clear that they sub-edited the book themselves (if at all). When a book has some errors here and there but not too many, it’s most likely because the author used a program. I believe that’s the case in this series. The errors are distracting but thankfully there aren’t many. Errors like spelling de Bourg 3 different ways in the span of one book. Or, a sentence that’s meant to read “…it was distracting enough to see it all unfold” but instead, the program corrects it to read “…it was distracted enough to see it all unfold”. Annoying. But readable.
This 5th book was as frustrating as the 4th one. Caroline, Bingley and Georgiana are all staying at the Hursts' home, which is not far from Pemberly. Georgiana eventually finds out why she's been sent away from Pemberly, that being that Wickham and Ann are staying there until the cottage Darcy is giving them is made livable. So Georgiana's emotions are all over the place. But she starts to have feelings for Bingley! Meanwhile, Wickham is determined to find a job and start changing his life. He approaches an old friend in the town next to Pemberly and secures a place as his friend's clerk. Throughout the book Wickham changes, though not much of this change is conveyed in any great detail to the reader. Georgiana knows about Jane and Bingley and that Elizabeth is trying to get them together again. Georgiana is bitter and is predisposed not to like Elizabeth, but eventually she moves back to Pemberly and starts to get along with Elizabeth. I was hoping Jane would come back into the picture but, despite how often Elizabeth drones on in her inner monologues about inviting Jane to see her so she and Bingley can work things out, she never does it. Caroline is still keeping the secret that she intercepted Bingley's letter to Jane (while he was still in Netherfield Park) so Bingley assumed Jane read the letter and never responded which is what caused him to leave Netherfield, leaving Jane heartbroken. Maybe in the next book? Wickham and Ann move to the new cottage and their story is pretty much over.

Thank goodness there is a 6th one. I thought there were only 5. I'm crossing my fingers for the Wickham character. Sense i could be Darcy or Richard not thinking good thoughts for George. Lisa is is at Pemberley.
I’ve had a difficult time believing some of the characters in this story as the series seems to be slipping with each sequel, but it is a fun variation and I am enjoying it.
