Michael Cooper (1941–1973) was a British photographer who is remembered for his photographs of leading rock musicians of the 1960s and early 1970s, most notably the many photos he took of The Rolling Stones from 1963 to 1973.

His best known work is the cover photography for the 1967 LP Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles.

Me deparei com esse livro, completamente por acaso e, como só fui perceber dois anos depois, por pura sorte, em uma banca de promoções no estande da Editora Planeta, na Bienal do Livro de 2016 de São Paulo. Desde então, essa obra de arte em forma de livro tem estado na minha estante, até que resolvi escolhe-lo para a minha próxima leitura.
Fui completamente pega de surpresa, e não esperava gostar tanto dessa leitura. O prólogo do Keith Richards é um enredo a parte, e os comentários ao longo dos livros são fascinantes - e, muitas vezes, hilários.
As fotos são simplesmente maravilhosas! Algumas muito diferentes em termos de composição e foco, outras bem clássicas, mas todas com aquele ar inquestionável dos anos 60, captando aquela empolgação no início da banda.
A edição está um tanto difícil de ser encontrada atualmente, mas se por acaso você tiver a sorte de esbarrar com ela por aí e for fã da banda, não pense duas vezes: vale muito a pena!

This exhibition of photographs isn’t all that impressive, apart from some candids capturing Gram Parsons — for one thing, the word “early” is pulling a lot of weight in the title, as a lot of this is from the late ’60s and early ’70s — but some of the commentary, especially from Keith Richards (the only band member interviewed), is disarming and hilarious.

Cool because not only are the photographs great (all from like '65 to '69) but there are comments and anecdotes by Anita, Keith, Marianne and Terry Southern about each pic.
