Anuradha Sharma Pujari (অনুৰাধা শৰ্মা পূজাৰী) is an influential Assamese journalist and author. She is the editor of Sadin and Satsori. Her contributions to Assamese literature include fiction and essays. Her first novel is Hriday Ek Bigyapan, which became popular among the youth of Assam.
চাহেবপুৰাৰ বৰষুণ explores abusive relationships, molestation, the NGO experience, social field work, corruption, political murders etc. Among all these varied subjects, what striked me the most is the protagonist Barsha (বৰ্ষা)'s quest for her self, her dreams, her own journey through the unknown which she had to embark out of the blue due to a sudden realisation that hit her when she quickly became aware that the path she wants to take won't be the one where she would have any choices; her life wouldn't be hers anymore. One character in the book reminds Barsha of Samuel Butler's saying "Life is the art of drawing conclusions from insufficient premises" and thus, the reader gets a taste of life as experienced by Barsha and the myriad people she met during her journey.
All in all, it's a novella about life, without any expectations, the way we want to live it.
This book is a GEM! wonderfull book. It's so beautifully written that, once you start reading it you can not leave this book in the middle. It's so engaging and filled with lots of suspense. This book has touched my heart. It's left my heart with a strange heavy feeling. It makes me think about life in a different manner. It thought me about relationship, life, society, family and many more. Everyone should read this book.
("The Rain of Sahebpura...." Anuradha, the author knows it well how to keep the readers engaging with the plot. The sudden layers, frames with full of suspenses have given it a unique taste.. Even, the minuscule points are also given much focus and well presented. By comparing Shower of Rain with the New Hopes of Life , she has provided a top notch writing form which is really admirable. It's a piece of contemporary Assamese literature, talks about feminism, equality and global citizenship... This genre is rare in Assamese literature. )
