4 stars cause where are my Cidolfus pages, there’s no way he only gets two smh. Absolutely love this one - I really like the artstyle although I wish FF learned to put more early design sketches and stuff in their artbooks. Definitely loved all the Dion pages, he’s one of my favs alongside Clive and Cid and oh gosh, the illustration at the end with him and Bahamut deserves to be a wallscroll. I love the few bits in Valistheian we got here (yes I did learn the whole alphabet cause I found it pretty 🤡✨) and Elwin’s gravestone inscription broke me :’)) I feel like there were some things missing but nonetheless I adore each and every FF artbook there is.
All art, no explanation. The only text in the book are names of characters and locations. Which is probably cool for fans of the game or artists looking for inspiration, but if you’re like me and curious about the worldbuilding and how that informs the designs, you’re out of luck. A couple of the paintings look nice, though.
Interesting to find this at the library. Probably the best part of this book is the wondrous art and exactly no words! Sort of feel that XVI has more work put into it vs VII Rebirth, but this is not the platform to discuss this.
The artwork for this entire book is just beautiful and every page had something amazing to look at. It was really hard to narrow down a favorites list.
