The story follows the story of three women, Belinda, Lori and Chloe.
Belinda, former Queen of Britain, now self-exiled in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Pain caused by a secret that wasn’t even her own forced her to go to the most drastic extremes and is now harbouring her own extreme secret. What it all comes down to, is the opportunity to see her grown family, and meet their grown up selves, and when she sees her former self in someone else about to make the same mistakes as she did in a previous life, she has a decision to make. Risk it all or watch her story play on repeat?
Lori, Olympic champion has just became the love interest of the King of a small European tax haven and with her future set to look Queen-like she begins to feel daunted the prospect of it all. Her handsome King seems perfect, high morals, loving, a passion for his country. But that might not be all. When Lori is assigned security detail the extent of the royal family’s willingness to produce an heir and a spare becomes quite apparent.
Chloe, hard-working, down to earth girlfriend of Prince Hugo of Britain is tired of being treated like something on the bottom of Princess Sophie’s shoe. Delivering an ultimatum which sees her become engaged to Prince Hugo, Chloe is now even more under the scrutinising eye of the press - what she wears, what she does, who she hangs out with. She’s feeling the pressure, especially when the Royal’s around about her seemingly don’t know how to behave!
This is the first book by Rebecca Chance that I’ve read. I enjoyed it, and could definitely recommend it, however I’m pretty sure if you look up the definition of bonkbuster in a dictionary, you will find a picture of this book and a reference to Ms Chance!
If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind the closed doors of the Royal families across the world, then, this probably isn’t exactly it, but it will fuel your imagination. Rebecca has written about a few different families in this book, sometimes it is easy to spot who her inspiration for some of the characters were, especially a certain ginger haired Prince!
Each character was a queen or is about to be a queen, I liked how each of them had this one main thing in common but how each of their situations were different. Forgetting the fact that they are all royal, each of the women have easily identifiable traits that you can recognise within yourself making this an easy read where the characters are easy to like. The supporting characters are really well developed, complimenting the main characters, showing their strength and individuality.
There is no escaping that this book is full of lavish, luxury homes, holidays and wardrobes, but it is also full of raunchy love scenes. Don’t let this put you off though, the story whips along at a fast pace with twists, turns and killer queens that will keep you turning pages to the very end.
