Pour Lucky Luke, c'est le repos. Une dernière mission et enfin le calme... C'est du moins ce qu'il croit, avant qu'une petite fille au caractère bien trempé ne le menace d'une arme en criant « Les bras en l'air, coyote ! » ! Lucky Luke reprend vite la situation en main et découvre que cette petite fille, Rose, vit seule avec son frère, Casper, dans une cabane isolée, leurs parents ayant disparu. Lucky Luke décide de les ramener au shérif, en ville... Mais il réalise vite qu'il devra, jusque-là, jouer à « la nounou » avec ces enfants particulièrement turbulents ! Un rôle totalement inattendu pour lui...

Who would have thought that after so many years of adventures, the legendary cowboy of the West would face one of his biggest challenges in the form of two pesky and restless little devils?

Well, that’s exactly what Lucky Luke has to deal with in this adventure: playing babysitter while trying to solve the mystery of the children's parents’ disappearance and tying up all the loose ends related to the case.

Not being a Lucky Luke expert, I feel this album is probably one of the closest to the original era. I really enjoyed the artwork—quite fun and even a bit caricatured. For example, there’s a big burly guy with skinny legs and guns smaller than his hands.

With each album I read, I’m growing increasingly fond of this classic character. I want to keep exploring this collection, and who knows, maybe one day I’ll dive into the originals.

Blutch combina muy bien su estilo con el de Morris pero sin dejar de ser el mismo. Una historia muy divertida, con buenos personajes y una narración excelente.

Mijn oude jeugdheld Lucky Luke heeft een interessant Nachleben gekregen. Eerst waren het alleen andere stripseries waarop leuke nieuwe variaties in de vorm van parodieën en pastiches werden gemaakt, zoals het actiefilmachtige Amoras (Suske en Wiske à la Tarantino). De avonturen van Philip en Francis van Veys en Barral, de veel leukere parodie op het wel vaak geprezen maar eigenlijk nogal stijve en saaie Blake & Mortimer. De Robbedoes-varianten van onder meer Yann en Schwartz (Robbedoes in de stijl van Yves Chaland) en vooral ook Émile Bravo.

Toen begonnen er ook variaties op Lucky Luke te verschijnen. De moordenaar van Lucky Luke van Matthieu Bonhomme, die de lonesome cowboy een vleugje Unforgiven meegaf. En het vrolijk parodistische Jolly Jumper antwoordt niet meer van Guillaume Bouzard, dat bijna net zo leuk was als zijn weergaloze titel. Maar dit album van Blutch vind ik tot nu toe het meest geslaagd. Blutch is welhaast zo grappig als Goscinny zelf. Chapeau.

Iedere generatie krijgt blijkbaar een Lucky Luke-verhaal dat zijn tijd weerspiegelt en dus zit 'De ontembaren' vol onhandelbare kinderen, criminelen die zelfs op heterdaad zeggen dat ze onschuldig zijn en zeuren om een advocaat en volstrekt incompetente gerechtsdienaren. Lucky Luke had het zelden zo lastig als in deze geslaagde reboot door Blutch. Blutch's humor is een andere dan die van Goscinny, maar hij begrijpt het karakter en universum van Lucky Luke duidelijk volkomen en zijn verhaal is zowel zeer vermakelijk als vernuftig in elkaar gezet. Van mij mag hij nog wel een Lucky Luke-album maken.

Depuis une quinzaine d’années les albums de reprise des classiques de la BD par des auteurs contemporains fleurissent avec une réussite très inégale. Cette interprétation de Lucky Luke par Blutch est une réussite éclatante, l’auteur réussissant le tour de force de mêler son univers à celui de Morris d’une manière parfaitement cohérente. Le lecteur se régale à retrouver le cow-boy solitaire dans un scénario bien travaillé, mais la patte de Blutch et les clins d’œil de rigueur à l’œuvre du créateur de Lucky Luke.
Le seul point noir est que cet album met en relief le manque de créativité patent des scénaristes qui œuvrent depuis de nombreux albums sur la série principale.

My exposure to Lucky Luke is a small handful of albums and the short-lived early '90s TV series, so personally I cannot really appreciate what it would mean for an artist of Blutch's caliber to take over the book. Perhaps those who have continued to religiously follow the series following Morris' death might have more context for Blutch's take on the character. I can't say for sure that this is "classic" Lucky Luke or not, but I can say that this was just a entertaining and visually extravagant as I would have hoped it to have been.

"Untamed" has a fairly simple setup. Lucky Luke apprehends a bandit, Rufus Kinker Jr., and turns him into the local sheriffs office. He takes off for the countryside, and finds himself being held up at gunpoint by a young girl. Luke soon deduces that this girl and her older brother are effectively orphans as both their parents have deserted them, and their much older brother is none other than the same bandit that he detained earlier in the day. Realizing he can't leave these two children unattended, Luke takes young Rose and Casper along with him while he tries to figure out what he'll do with them. As he tries to track down the rest of the Kinker clan, he realizes how crooked they are and things continue to spiral from there. The humor throughout maintains the light-hearted structure of a gag strip, but Blutch's humor is often fairly subtle too. The various situations that Lucky Luke finds himself in throughout this adventure are genuinely creative, and fit the Western setting really well.

Blutch's artwork channels greats like Harvey Kurtzman and Marge, but with a touch of Jean Giraud's Blueberry and André Franquin to add the stylized aesthetic of classic bande dessinée albums. One could easily assume that this album was a very early Lucky Luke album from the '50s based on the artistic sensibilities, a flair I'm sure Blutch does intentionally. Unlike his more hazy, scratchy style in his own great works like Peplum, the cartooning here has a distinctively more retro look to it. A true demonstration of artistic flexibility, and especially impressive for an established cartoonist to morph their aesthetic to work within the confines of a beloved long-running comic series.

Ytterligare ett så kallat "extraordinärt" album – alltså ett där en gästtecknare bjudits in för att göra sin egen tolkning av den klassisk figuren. Den här gången är det Blutch (egentligen Christian Hincker), en fransk serieskapare med rötter i en lite mer vuxen och konstnärlig tradition än den som Lucky Luke normalt tillhör.

Han har under lång tid arbetat för Fluide Glacial, och är också känd för albumet Peplum, en personlig tolkning av Petronius' som jag känner till för att jag då och då går omkringoch tänker på rom. Dessutom har han (Blutch) medverkat i satirtidningen Charlie Hebdo.

Det är är på gott och ont ett ganska klassiskt Lucky Luke äventyr vilket jag personligen inte har så mycket emot. Jag kan tycka att man ibland "försvårar" exempelvis titlar så det ska låta lite mer vuxet. Jag noterar att den heter Untamed på engelska. Förslag på svensk titel hade kunnat vara "Barnvakten" men jag förstår att det är något som går mig förbi här? Cobolt kanske känner sin publik men lite synd är det att dom inte gör ett försök att locka de yngre läsarna ?

Nåja.

Efter att ha lämnat skurken Rufus Kinker till sheriffen i Rubbish Gulch stoppas Lucky Luke av en liten flicka med gevär. Rose och hennes bror Casper är ensamma – deras föräldrar har försvunnit spårlöst. När deras stuga sprängs av banditer tvingas Luke ta hand om två livliga ungar.

Han försöker få ordning på kaoset, men inget går som det ska. Stadsborna är rasande, sheriffen är inkompetent och skurkarna rymmer gång på gång. Och ungarna håller på att driva honom till vansinne.

Jag gillar en hel del med serien. Teckningstilen och bikaraktärerna och humorn. Storymässigt är den lite för svag för att rikta sig mot en mer vuxen seriepublik samtidigt som den är för rörig för att rikta sig mot barn.

Jag tycker egentligen att serien pendlar mellan en stark 3:a och en 4:a men själva utgivningen förvirrar mig en aning så jag landar på en stark 3:a.

Alltså det är en bra serie som jag hoppas många hittar till men inte min personliga favorit bara.

Wednesday Addams und Kaspar Hauser im Wilden Westen

Lucky Luke reitet im Western-Kaff Rubbish Gulch ein. Er muss sich nicht nur mit einer Bande von Banditen herumschlagen, sondern auch mit den Kinker Kids. Den kleinkriminellen Rufus hat er soeben dem Sheriff übergeben, da stößt er auf dessen Geschwister, den deprivierten, autistischen Casper und seine kratzbürstige Schwester Rose. Sie ist ein wahrer Wildfang, im Wesen einer Wednesday Addams nicht unähnlich; meine Lieblingsfigur in diesem Band. Zum Showdown lernt man auch noch die Eltern der ungezähmten Kids kennen. Summa summarum ein nettes Abenteuer. Text und Zeichnungen stammen von Blutch.

Un très bon Lucky Luke, qui transcrit la personnalité de son auteur tout en respectant les codes du genre. Toute personne ayant des enfants rira bien tout du long du comportement des petits monstres, le tout dans une histoire bien troussée. Un vrai plaisir!

Super revisitation du personnage ! Sans trahir la source, Blutch offre une vision un peu plus crunchy, moderne et décapante du cow-boy solitaire, avec son trait caractéristique, qui se prête curieusement assez bien à l’univers. Un beau petit coup de cœur.

Just a fun time. I could look at Blutch's gorgeous lines all day (his art is why I picked this up) and he fares much better than Bonhomme on the writing front by keeping things simple and light, aided by two scene-stealers in the form of the terrible tykes.
