genuinely this series is only getting better and better. last volume I was ready to hate on amamiya but this volume…. Yeah that’s hubby. I’m just very intrigued to understand his motives.
Also reading this during pride month where it seems no character is straight is just the best.
and all too soon I’m almost caught up to the recent chapters with nowhere else to turn… what am I supposed to do with myself after I run out of stuff to read huh?? wait???? *cries*
[3.75] When Amamiya suddenly claimed he killed Akio, I just stared at the page like… sir, what? It didn’t even sound like a real confession, more like there’s some twisted detail we’re not being told. The Akira alien theory is starting to feel real. The way weird beings keep gravitating toward him makes it seem like he’s got something inside him he doesn’t know about. At this point I’m just flipping pages in full confusion jdksjdkjsf NOT COMPLAINING THO.
I mogą kłamać.
Kiedy ofiara może stać się oprawcą? Sho i Akira dostają misję obserwowania kosmity podejrzanego o morderstwo ziemianki i jej dziecka.
(the way that my writing reviews keeps changing…but this is what I’ll say)
First and foremost, if what Amamiya revealed about himself a.k.a what he was going to tell Akira, then I love being RIGHT… because I have been feeling certain vibes… although I feel like the situation is probably more layered and complicated.
I have said in every single review that I am not the biggest fan of the comedic humor a lot of the time and I feel like this volume was serious…which obviously I was way more into. The case that Akira and Sho had to do and the conversations they were having with the guy were really impactful. Like I don’t know what happened in this volume, but the lines were going hard and the interaction Akira had with Sho after was heartfelt. The story touches on trauma and grief and violence and being in Akiras head, if there’s one thing I’ve learned about him is he has a lot of empathy and he tries to help people and aliens. And this story also touches on deeper conversations about immigration and the way that aliens lives are changed and impacted culturally, socially environmentally, and there’s just a lot of mysteriousness around the AMO and I do find it…”interesting” that we follow a protagonist who is empathetic and helpful when I’m suspecting and it’s also being implied that the AMO…well…you know.
We’re also getting into a plot now, deeper characters are resurfacing and there are just interactions that are happening that are making me wonder why repetitions are happening and why there are certain things being said while others aren’t. Amamiya continues being suspicious and making me side eye him but also wanting to know more.
Finale citofonato. Come si muoverà Gunji stavolta?
This volume seemed a little more chaotic than usual. The chapters are still giving sprinkles of mystery and adding more characters (I like that it’s doing it gradually so it’s not as confusing as adding them all at once). The character designs for the aliens are ok but the action scenes with them are a bit confusing. The artwork for still images is excellent as usual though. I am pretty sure the mangaka wanted this to be a BL but wanted the more mainstream audience viewership. While I had a few issues with some of this volume it was still very enjoyable.
This was a little confusing in places but I think that's because of the Libby app -- I really prefer reading in my Kindle app, where it's easier for me to flip back and forth during action sequences until I'm sure I understand what's going on! But I liked the increased information about Amamiya, and the complexity of the world.
4.5; this manga really does keep getting better now that i feel like it's gotten into a groove and really established its tone. still leaving room in the ratings for it to get even better though and see if it can make me cry
