This book is the second in a series, the first being Kaden's Breeder. It isn't necessary, in my opinion, to have read Kaden's Breeder before Corbin's Captive, although it doesn't hurt either.

I had a hard time finishing this one. It isn't very long, but it didn't keep my interest as I kept putting it down and picking it up after several days. I found the characters cliched and even a bit juvenile in the way the way they related to each other.

I like erotica, but this alien had issues. He was a drug addict, had "daddy" issues, and flashbacked to the death of his mother. Ummm, not what I want in an erotica.

Sci fi capture erotica. I rounded up from 2 1/2 because I did like this better than the first one. Corbin has some serious issues as an abused drug addict. So it was a bit hard for me to really get into him as the "hero". By the end of the book I did like him more and feel some empathy for him. I'd like some more world building in my scifi erotica. There just hasn't been enough background set for what is going on here and I spend time and energy trying to figure it out. I think the author has improved from the last story though. A few typo/editing problems but not bad- although he was playing with her "nibbles" at one time LOL. I love this genre and I like the premise of this series. There is some really hot alien lovin' even a Femdom scene. I do love the dredds! I'll likely give it another go if there is a third

My second book in the Galactic Breeders Series. I love this story, however I know that Corbin is not your typical hero. A warning to readers, it does contain instances of self harm and child abuse. Some BDSM F/M and a sex scene with hermaphroditic aliens.

I'm iffy on this book. I like that we're dealing with aliens (YAY!) and the D/s vibe Corbin had going with the alien chick (not the main character) was pretty sexy but I feel like there was lot left untapped with Yana and Corbin. Yana is physically abused by her betrothed at one point and other than making her run away when the opportunity presents itself, that's not really addressed again.

And Corbin needs his own paragraph. So... Corbin. He has a boatload of unresolved issues from his childhood (dad's an abusive asshole, mom had to leave C with him), is a drug addict, and is riddled with guilt over several more recent events. Dude, I get his decline and his foray into drugs. I really do. I like that he's willing to face the repercussions of his actions once he has someone worth living for. I can't really pinpoint my discontent here but at the end of the book I felt like so much had been glossed over that his story felt thin.

Maybe that's what it is. I wanted more. I wanted to see more of a struggle against the easy way (the numbing drugs) and his desire to do right by Yana. I liked the ending, but I was unhappy with the abbreviated lead-up to it.

That said, the sex was sufficiently hot enough for me. The various aliens all had their little quirks that made the naughty times very, very nice. *thumbs up* to that, I just wish there had been a little more depth in the main storyline.
