Lars Clausen is a German sociologist and professor at the University of Kiel (Germany). He has also worked at the Sozialforschungsstelle Dortmund (Central Scientific Institute of the Technische Universität Dortmund) and the University of Zambia in Lusaka.
His work specialized in the sociology of culture, of labor, and of disaster, and he is chief editor of the Complete Works of Ferdinand Tönnies. In 1993 and 1994, Clause was the Chair of the German Society for Sociology.
