Meet Buck. Spirit brother, dreamwalker, shaman’s son—he’s never been at the mercy of his abilities nor hungered for violence…until her.
When the spirit fever struck a town, a village or an outpost, it left few, if any, survivors. The white man blamed the Indian saying they used their mojo on them. The Indians blamed the white man for angering the spirits. The survivors knew it didn’t matter. The Fevered were forever changed.
Rebuilding Dorado is only the first challenge…
Surviving a vicious attack by their enemies and an outbreak of the fever has left Dorado in ruins and the Flying K under siege, now all their resources are devoted to rebuilding their town and protecting the newborn Fevered in their midst. Buck Morning Star and his siblings divide their time between training their new family members and avoiding the threat of detection the arrival of soldiers constructing a new fort pose, but Delilah haunts the spirit walker’s dreams. When Jason Kane threatens to come between them, Buck's obsession may drive him to madness.
Her secrets could destroy them all…
Rescued from a whorehouse in Fort Courage, Delilah Rinaldi never expected to find a sanctuary populated by Fevered and their allies. Silent since her arrival at the ranch, she longs to believe in Buck and the passionate dreams they share. But she keeps dangerous knowledge of the enemy hunting them all close to her heart—information Jason may reveal and cost her the only home and man she loves.
Primitive, primal and provocative, their struggle is intensely personal…
Close contact arouses a soul-stirring passion and love. But it may not be enough to sustain a relationship forbidden by their power and the tempest it can unleash.
I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.
I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.
After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.
Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.
Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.
One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.
I’m active on social media, and I love hearing from readers. Feel free to tag me with a question about any of my books, or just say hi!
A Fistful of Dreams is the fourth book in Heather Long’s western paranormal series, and takes up right where the last one ended. I loved the first three books in this series, and I went into this book expecting to love it and I can say that I did. I was very enraptured with the characters and the storyline. I couldn’t put this book down.
Delilah Rinaldi is a woman who’s suffered and is afraid to love. Watching Delilah come to the realization that not everyone is out to use her, and to grow into a woman that is free to love was beautiful. I felt every single emotion she felt, and how the circumstances around her shaped her.
Buck Morningstar is a man who wants to teach her that love is nothing to be afraid of. Buck was so patient, kind and steady. He was always helping others. He’s the kind of man that I would easily fall in love with, and seeing him love Delilah just made him more desirable.
The cast of secondary characters and past characters from the previous books are back, and they add to the story. The interaction between families is integral to this story. It’s obvious that family is so very important to the characters and that’s something I can relate to. I fell in love with older characters even more just from the way they treated their family.
This a sweet, sensual historical romance with a paranormal twist that is best read as part of the series. There are so many twists, and moments where I screamed and other moments when I felt like weeping. In my opinion, that’s a mark of a great book and an excellent writer, the very fact that I was so invested in the story and the characters that I felt real emotions. I was emotionally drained by the time I put this book down. I’m aching for the next book and I don’t know how I’m going to wait patiently for it.
I highly recommend this book for historical, western, and paranormal romance fans alike. This is a love story that I think transcends genres, and this series is a must read.
Man I've been so hooked on this series since the first book was gifted to me... And this book didn't disappoint is was just as emotional and captivating as they have all been... Seeing how much both the Kane's and Morning Star's have gone through and how dealing with the aftermath of the previous book has been for them is just wonderful and amazing. Looking forward to reading the next one.
each book in this series is better thank the last! Delilah and Buck are super sweet.
Each book in this series is better than the last. Delilah and Bucks are really sweet though the thought that she saw Kid in an earlier book in all his glory is quite disturbing to me. Though there is a lot of characters, since they are mostly in the previous books it is easy to keep track of all their supernatural powers. And Delilah’s may be one of the most interesting. She is a Siren with a lovely voice, but has been used since childhood as a weapon by the Kane and Quanto’s greatest enemy. There are tons of family twists and turns and I do love when characters follow from each book to the others in a series. The romance is a nice slow burn, with an intense crescendo that is very satisfying.
Wyatt has been mentioned in every book, but not featured to much until the final chapters here. And there is a great twist where he is concerned.
I am moving on to the next book, with great anticipation.
Yes this was Buck and Delilah's story but a lot of other issues from the other people in the story come to the forefront and kept me captivated from the start. It is really coalescing together into a great a fantastic epic story!!! Can't wait to read Kid's story next! But really if you want the full experience start from the first book "Marshall of Her Dorado". It'll make much more sense by the time you get to this book. LOVED this one!!
It’s always the quiet ones, quite literally in this case. These two aren’t out there, showing off, causing waves, or standing out, but they have such an impact. That is to others, who realize when they aren’t there, and especially to each other. That they end up together, even after a false start, is inevitable. The wildness that goes on around them, multiple times, unexpected, and the expansion of the larger story, shocking to say the least!
A Fistful of Dreams is the fourth book in the Fevered Heart Series, and as many of you know a series I’ve come to love.
In the wake of the devastation caused by the Spirit Fever to the city of Dorado and the Flying K, the Kane’s and Morning Stars are having to help the children left behind cope with their new abilities. Not all the abilities in all the children have been identified and they are having to also help these children deal with losing everyone they ever loved.
While all this is going on Buck begins to visit Delilah, the quiet, scared woman who Kid saved from a whore house in Cody’s book. Buck has been captivated with the shy woman, what is that can keeps her so quiet? She has spent every day during rebuild at his side letting him speak to her without saying a word in return. But there is a problem, Jason Kane seems to be just as interested in Delilah and Buck really doesn’t like that.
Delilah has a secret of her own, she has an ability, which she inadvertently uses against Buck. Though she thought she was safe to use her ability in her dreams, so in a way it is Buck’s fault for the use of the ability against him.
What is her ability? Well because I want you to buy the book and read it for yourself I will keep that little bit of information to myself. But trust me when I say it explains A LOT.
We also find out a bit more about Adam and who he is during this book. Not only had Delilah been associated with Adam in the past, but Jason was also in her past. It seems that Kid wasn’t the first Kane to save her from the situation she was in with Adam. The man had been making Delilah use her ability for his benefit, which Jason explains isn’t always in an honorable way.
Where so much is answered throughout the series, we are getting just as many questions as well. And as always the end of one book leaves you itching for the next.
My next review for the Fevered Heart Series is to come soon…
This is an original review from http://bookedandloaded.com - I personally purchased this title and all opinions are mine. Original rating 4.5/5
A Fistful of Dreams is the fourth book in Heather Long's Fevered Hearts Series. This is quickly becoming a favorite series of mine and with a unique mixture of genres I think any historical, romance, fantasy, or hell...anyone who likes romance would love this series!
To me, A Fistful of Dreams epitomizes what is so great about the universe of self-publishing. Undefined by one genre label, Long's voice is a pleasure to read and the editing is flawless. The ability to make you feel like the story is being unraveled instead of being pushed onto you is a talent that few authors possess and Long nails it in this entire series.
Buck and Delilah's story is not what I expected and that, in a way made it so much better. Delilah has secrets that is she too afraid to speak of. Literally. Yet, the secrets she holds onto are quite unexpected. I love the way the dynamic of the Kane family is changing and being redefined after blending with the Stars (a Fevered family led by a shaman). The same could be said for the Star family as well.
All in all A Fistful of Dreams was an entertaining and captivating read! I would recommend this series to anyone that enjoys romance!
I am absolutely loving this series written by Heather Long. You can't help but love each and every character in these books. Each book focuses on a particular "couple" but previous characters always make an appearance. I think that's what I like most about this series. Sometimes you read the first or second book and then never see characters again, not the case with Heather's books. You get more of the characters you love in each and every book.
This book focused on Buck (dreamwalker) and Delilah (song siren)and the amazing journey they make together. Kid plays a huge part in this book and my heart just about breaks for the youngest Kane brother. Wyatt also makes an appearance and leaves you wanting to know more about the first "son" of Quanto.
Heather's writing style is amazing and this really is a must read series. Don't miss out and be sure you start with the first book, Marshal of Hel Dorado, because you really need to read these book in order.
Heather, please keep writing them. We need more of your Fevered Hearts!!!!
We met Delilah when Kid rescued her from a whorehouse in Fort Courage in Brave Are the Lonely (Fevered Hearts #2). She has been staying on the Flying K helping where she can and never saying a thing. Buck is attracted to her and wants to get to know her better so he visits her in her dreams. What he doesn't know is that Delilah is also one of the Fevered and can entrance with her voice. Trouble has come to Dorado and the Flying K and everyone is trying to rebuild. Can Buck help Delilah control her gift and build a dream they can share? These books each feature one couple but they build on the previous one. You could probably read them stand alone but you’ll get so much more out of them if you read them in order.
The Series is complicated, intense, very dark (almost brutal) at times, and with an almost overwhelming number of characters, but nevertheless is still engaging.
Author is gifted story teller and I got caught up in stories and wanted to keep reading to discover outcomes and how couples find their HEAs. By book 4 there is a very clear and intelligent examination of coming into a gift and the ethics of using a gift or talent.
Although the first couple of books in the series were only 2 stars for me, I found I enjoyed the series more by Book 4 which rated 4 stars. Now really looking forward to reading Book 5....
Book 1 -Marshall of Hel Dorado - 2 Stars Book 2 - Brave are the Lonely - 2 Stars Book 3 - Micah and Mrs. Miller - 3 Stars Book 4 - A Fistful of Dreams - 4 Stars
I really hope that Jason get knocked off that high horse of his in his book. What an arrogant douche-tool. What he did to his little brother... the thought of even wanting to do that to any of my siblings makes me sick inside. And he did it for 17 years, then told his 21 year old brother to grow up when he was angry about it. >(
Really liked Delilah and Buck, just disappointed that no matter who told him Jason kept thinking he had done nothing wrong.
I seriously love this series. I love the world, but more particularly, I love the Kane and Morning Star families. I enjoyed learning more about Buck and Delilah. I appreciated their love story, considering its silent beginning. It all felt natural. I especially loved that the action in this story was kept all in the family instead of having outsiders. All in all, I can't wait to read the next one!
