WHAT LIES BETWEEN A BIG TOWN SWINDLE… Ex-Ranger Jeremiah Spur is headed for Austin, Texas, on a job he can’t Find the embezzler who vanished with a real estate tycoon’s ten million plus. It’s a personal request from the victim himself. He claims to have ties to Spur’s estranged father, a man thought long dead. Spur figures it’s one way to face family demons—by finding them.
AND SMALL TOWN VENGEANCE… What Spur leaves behind is also a a cold-blooded double murder—the result of competing drug cartels, and a new criminal bent for rural areas like Brenham. The case is left to Clyde Thomas to solve—an African American Deputy Sheriff who’s turned the racially charged town upside down.
…IS A REAL KILLER. What Spur and Thomas yield from their investigations is a link that neither imagined—one driven by revenge, greed, and blind fear. Where it takes them is across two continents, through a violent whirlpool of dark motivations, and finally, toward the discovery of an even darker truth that’s set to trap its next victim.

James Hime is one of those really good writers that makes you pine for more of his storytelling. He's only written three books, this being the second, and I already dread the the fact that that'll probably be it for his tales.
Jeremiah Spur, a retired Texas Ranger, and Deputy Clyde Thomas as his sidekick, have the potential to be something really, really special, but alas, it doesn't look like that will become a long running series of books.
This is a short murder/mystery series that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Buy them read them and enjoy.👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥👍🏾🔥
Ahh . . .another Jeremiah Spur book with a few odd twists that has our hero traveling internationally. Jeremiah takes an investigating job for a reclusive rich guy in Dallas. Deputy Clyde Thomas (also known as the Judge) is investigating the murder of a local pusher. Eventually, both cases meet and lead to an explosive finish.
I'm no prude but I had to bail on this after 60 or so pgs.. The writing felt inauthentic and.....quite racist to be honest. Just didn't feel right to me. I could be way off, but it's just the way it rubbed me. NEEEEXT!
Retired Texas ranger Jeremiah Spur wouldn't have taken the job of looking for an embezzling accountant--if the very wealthy man who offered the job didn't also offer to tell Jeremiah something about the father he'd never known. As suspicious as he was, Jeremiah soon finds himself in a worse spot than he'd feared, trying to avoid a family of Mexican drug dealers who have wanted to kill him or a long time. Meanwhile, back in his hometown of Branham, the lone African American deputy is dealing with some murders that may involve the very same drug gang. And, of course, there's always Jeremiah's father...
seemed to drag on a bit, in the middle. I'm a little frustrated, so maybe it was me and not the book.. but I had a hard time finishing it. Damn good story tho, and I love this author. I hope he write so much more, about this character!!
