When Meg Finley’s parents died, the authorities classified it as a double suicide. Alone, hurting and suddenly the object of the clan’s alpha's desire, her life was a nightmare. He didn’t care that she was grieving any more than he cared that she was only fifteen. So she’d run and she’d been running ever since. But now, years later, her luck’s run out. The alpha’s trackers have found her and they’re under orders to bring her back, no matter what.

Without warning, Meg finds herself in a game of cat and mouse with the trackers in a downtown Dallas parking garage. She’s learned a lot over the years but, without help, it might not be enough to escape a fate she knows will be worse than death. What she didn’t expect was that help would come from the local clan leader. But would he turn out to be her savior or something else, something much more dangerous?

Finn and Matt were a wonderfully believable Jaguar shape changer couple. Finn has lived in fear and hiding for 10 years until rescued by Matt from a kidnapping attempt.

First in a series - I will look up the others

I really loved this book. Finn is a strong girl but at the same time she is vulnerable. She just wants to be somewhere she belongs to and stop running away from Michael. Matt is a strong alpha but he is also caring and you can clearly see he really loves Finn. I think that some things were a little rushed so I give this book a 4.5 stars. A great book!!!!!

Pretty good first chapter. I think it was in her head a bit too much considering she was running for her life but fast paced and got you into the story real quick.

I like in the beginning of the second chapter when she's worrying about what a cop would think because she doesn't have a seatbelt on. Reminds me of the accident with my Sentra and my new glasses. I got rear ended and, though my car was totaled, I couldn't stop worrying about my brand new glasses, which flew off my face in the accident.

In some ways, the book seems kind of flat, especially in the interpersonal relationships. But it makes up for it a bit with plot. I really liked the story. The story and the portrayal of shifters, though not overly original, was enjoyable.

The passion in the story is kind of lackluster. The author never really expresses the draw between the two adequately and the sex scenes leave much to be desired. Not "fade to black" and yet not gripping either. Too vulgar for the easily embarrassed but not enough for someone looking forward to those scenes. As they are, I feel like the author would have been better off writing the details leading up to each scene and omitting the rest. And this whole "completeness" thing seems so hollow, like its just words.

I liked the main character. I always like the tough-as-nails female leads. And I love her obsession with morning coffee, even though I don't understand the appeal of the stuff myself. Brings a very human element to the story. I like the male lead as well. Alpha male without being too overbearing. Balances her strength to his own instead of being domineering.

Like with most novels, there were a few details that sort of threw me out of the story a bit. They make a plan to track her hunters using her cell phone, which they stole when they stole her bag. That's all fine and good, but the plan requires her enemy (whom she knows the phone number for) calling the trackers on the stolen cell. This confused me for several reasons. Why couldn't they just track the cell phone initially? You only need a modern phone (i.e. mandatory GPS chip) and that it be turned on for that. Why would her enemy call the trackers on the stolen cell phone? Why would he have the number and why wouldn't he call them on their cell phones? Early on, she claims her only talent is drawing, and yet later on she's suddenly a computer genius. When the author writes that she's laying on her stomach, but prepping her "clavicle" for a tattoo. Clavicle (collar bone) is on your front. She was having the tattoo done on her shoulder blade (scapula). Also couldn't figure out why everyone wanted to see her shift. I feel like that was never explained adequately.

Now, I fussed earlier about the romance and relationships in the story, but I will say this. I honestly felt like they were a good match, even if I felt the romance lacked some of the umph and fire usually seen in romance novels. For example, there's a point where each tries to get the sister to promise to protect the other. They each care more about the other's wellbeing and safety than their own. I loved that bit.

I would like to thank Ellie Ferguson for giving me this book for an honest review. There were some editing issues that need to be worked out, but it was not bad, just a few. The book seemed a little rushed and more could have been done with it, but that being said, I loved the story. Matt is a strong Alpha who saved Finn who turned out to be his life mate. She is a strong woman who is also a very strong Alpha in her own right. She has been on the run for years since she was 15 after her parents were killed and the new alpha tried to break pack laws and force her to be his mate. She has very conflicting emotions which for someone who has been on the run for so much of her life from this man it is understandable. They have the goal of getting the clans to all come together and start communicating better to keep the shifters safe and to bring Michael to justice for what he has done to Finn.

I don't know -- I liked the overall concept of the story, with being on the run for ages and eventually finding a home, but it didn't quite work for me. The romance plot was resolved almost as soon as it showed up, and the status stuff (shifter displays of aggression and submission) kind of bothered me. Although I think it's fairly standard for the genre -- it may just be that it's not the right subgenre for me. Also, it never felt like we got to experience the danger and the action with the characters -- we'd get told about a problem, someone would show up and talk about it, and then it would be fixed in a couple minutes. I would have preferred a more in-the-moment action-oriented telling, I think.

But all that said, a lot of this was just my own preferences and not overall flaws with the book, which is a good example of this sort of shapeshifter paranormal romance.

Very good story about a shape changer name Finn or Meg thats been on the run for over 5 years since parents were murdered and the so called N. CA clan leader & murderer, Jennings, was going to claim her, a 15 year old girl, as his mate to control her as well as use her the the leadership position. Now 5 years later, Jennings sends more trackers after her still and they are to use whatever means to capture her until Dallas clan leader Matt comes her rescue by a few short seconds to late. Not only was Finn tasered but also with a poison to make it painful for her. But that didnt stop her jaguar from scenting Matt as a real alpha but also as her true mate. I got to say if your looking for hot love scenes you wont find them in this story its mostly a building romance between Matt and Finn and her position as his mate and an alpha in her own right.

I should have listened to others...

This book was ok, but I only barely managed to finish it.

The essential focus of the story was good I just struggled with the repetitive and often confusing dialogue, plus I didn't really buy into the connection between Finn and Matt.

I should have stopped when reading the free sample (thanks Amazon), I started thinking Finn might be bipolar her emotions kept swinging back and forth that much.

I'd suggest, sample before you buy.

What a great read

What a great read

Meg is my favorite kind of character. The hardships in her life make her very cautious, but when she finds her mate she fights to keep the new life she's discovered. Matt is a true Alpha, the kind that doesn't need to announce it, he just is.
The plot held me from page one and I was really sad to reach the end.Highly recommend, this is going in my favorites.

The idea was OK, but it was repetitive on the fears and doubts of the main character, so I couldn't get into the story and I felt like the main characters were too good to be true. It's normal in these kind of books, but when I can get into the story I don't feel it. It's not as bad as considering not reading the rest of the books in this series, but not recommended if you're not a big fan of this genre.

1.5 stars

Everything seemed to fall into place to easily and it got a little repetitive. As if the author thought we’d forget something important if she didn’t explain stuff over and over again.

Just another filler read for me.
