Two years ago, Mia had everything she thought she wanted. She loved her job, and her best friend Nicole was finally recovering from losing her family in a car accident. When they met rock star Zack Walters and given backstage pages for his concert in their hometown of Minneapolis, Mia had no idea she would get involved with the band’s drummer, Chase Harper. It was simple, fun, and exactly what Mia liked best – no strings attached.

Then Chase decided to change the rules and Mia did what she’s always done best: she ran.

Now she’s on her way to Los Angeles to help Nicole get ready for her wedding to Zack. The one thing she’s not looking forward to is seeing Chase again. With his sculpted muscles, strong hands and dark gray eyes that seem to know everything she’s thinking – Chase has the ability to make her forget. He also has the power to make her feel, something Mia refuses to let happen.

When everything around Mia’s life begins to crumble, and she keeps all of her secrets tucked close and hidden away, Chase is the one who steps in to help.

Because he has decided that he isn’t letting her go again. Not until she finally admits she’s his.

I read Just One Song and Just One Week in one day but I have to say there was an issue with this book that definitely brought the rating down.

This book is about Mia who you met in Just One Song as Nicole's best friend and sister of the heart and Chase, the drummer in Zach Walters band. These two have been hooking up with a no strings attached friends with benefits relationship but it is no longer enough for Chase.

Mia is a very confused young woman and has been through some trauma in her life that shaped her idea of relationships,,,and not for the good. She keeps secrets and hurts others in the process. Then she has a major health scare that rocks her world as she faces surgery and the unknown. She has kept this from Chase and her friends and is determined to go it alone. She does not want to be a burden and affect the lives of others with her illness as her mother's health battle did.

ALERT...SPOILER AHEAD! Stop reading if you don't want a few facts about why this author and this book was disappointing to me.

Chase is in love with Mia and wants to be with her always but she draws him in and then pushes him away, fighting to protect him from her health scare and what she feels is an avoidable future that she thinks wrecked her family. Here is where the book failed for me. Chase gave her his undying love and promised he would never ever stop chasing her, trying to win her over. But then he lets his head think all kinds of stupid, untrue stuff and decided to hook up with someone he just met, to move on and leave Mia behind!!! Is that true love? Is this what you do to the woman you love more than your life? What in the heck happened to the man who swore she was IT for him? Where is that gentle giant of a man who told her just weeks ago, while she was recovering from surgery, that he would never stop trying to win her over? What is it about men who can't seem to keep there package locked up for a short amount of time when they are in love with someone else...who, by the way...is at her brothers home recuperating from a major life altering surgery. This was the ruination of this story for me. The Chase we knew and learned to love would never do this to her. It just brought him down in my books. Please understand, she had asked him to leave her. She felt she and the illness would destroy him like she thought it did to her father. So he left and even though the band was on tour, he went a couple of months without going to see. He has chartered jets for things much less important but not to go to her. This man was crazy insane for her and he wants a hook up to make him forget Mia, even if it is only for a few hours. This hook-up ended up not happening but it was very close. It also hurt me to know he broke his big rule of not ever kissing a fan on the mouth. He broke his promise to himself for this hook up. Gosh I cannot tell you how upsetting it was and apparently I am not the only reviewer that feels this way. It diminished the story and his love for her. I was close to wishing someone else would come along in her life. Even though she fought him and the relationship, she deserved more. I would not have been able to trust him again no matter how much he said he loved me.

Mia’s best friend Nicole has found her second chance at love after tragically losing her first love. She found it in Zack Walker, the lead singer of the band that Mia loves. Along the way Mia found herself in a FWB fling with Chase, the drummer in the band.

Mia has a great career and for the most part enjoys her life. She misses Nicole after she moved to be with Zack permanently but she tries to see her as often as she can. The upcoming wedding is something she has looked forward to for a long time and she can’t wait to see Nicole marry Zack, getting the happy ever after she deserves with such an awesome guy.

What Mia was not expecting was to be swept off her feet by Chase in a carefully planned pre wedding getaway. All he asks for is one week, just the two of them spending time together. This completely blind sides Mia, their no strings attachment arrangement seems to be veering in a direction she doesn’t want. Mia shies away from love and commitment but she reluctantly agrees to Chase’s proposal.

The thing is, Chase has fallen in love with Mia. Sleeping with groupies is a thing of the past for him. Once he realized that he was beginning to feel things for Mia, he has been exclusively hers. Now he just needs to show her how much she means to him and how he sees a future with her. However, Mia is harboring a few secrets that she doesn’t want to share with anyone, not even her bestie Nicole.

Mia has decided that Chase deserves better, he deserves a woman who can give him all the things he wants. Chase is frustrated that every time he thinks he is getting closer to something more with Mia she runs away. Why can’t she see what is right in front of her eyes, a man that loves her unconditionally and wants to give her everything she desires.

Mia’s personal struggle highlights an important health issue faced by many women worldwide. She battles with what she thinks is the right thing to do for both her and Chase but forgetting that he has a choice too. This is the second part in this series and wraps it up nicely with lots of Zack & Nicole moments.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

The story of Mia and Chase is not an easy one.
They had their easy friends with benefits relationship, until Chase decided that he wanted more and Mia bolted.

I liked how he was patient with her commitment issues and how carefree she was, but that didn't lasted long.

Mia pulled away from him again, to take care of her health and he let her deal with that on her own. Messaging her but not actually there. It was a weird relationship on both sides cause it wasn't a relationship at all.

I understood where her issues came from, but not her attitude to just ignore him half of the time. Same as I don't instant how he waited for her for so long, just to seek other woman when he was suppose to be supporting his friends.

It was a good story, but with lots of unrealistic situations.

🎧 About the Audiobook Narration 🎧

Narrated by Meghan Kelly and Neil Thorne.

She have a good voice but the way she makes every sentence look like an interrogation question or a surprised scene when they're not, is not something good.
His interpretation were way better and I liked.

The audiobook though, have a issues like repetitive sentences or small parts at the end of a line, and really long pauses between chapters.

So ... the beginning is kinda slow and granted I read/skimmed parts - but I kept on because Stacey Lynn is so hit or miss for me - and generally it's ALL SEX ALL THE TIME at the beginning of her books, then the working out of the relationship and once things get serious with the emotions or descriptions of emotions there's actually very little sex/the books aren't explicit...

But anyway. Things were fine - normal problems and all and sadness and characters being stupid but real ... and even this was - but at like 87-91% or something? ... this
[there are spoilers, fair warning]
https://twitter.com/Limecello/status/...

oh. my. god.

I can even get forgiving him etc but LIKE THAT? SO QUICKLY? AND HER APOLOGIZING?
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!

it RUINED EVERYTHING.
And just like ... extra fitting - he literally smelled like stank THE ENTIRE FUCKING TIME and ... other than a few lines of people complaining - EVEN HE THINKS HE STINKS BEFORE ANYTHING EVEN HAPPENS - and he just never showers?
And that one bitch was going to go off with him? And then Mia is all hanging out/on him? REALLY?

... these days ["thanks" migraines] with my scent sensitivity I'd probably have thrown up on him. Mia should've. He deserved it.

D- for the some good parts but really it was draggy and boring and wishy washy and both were scared but then both SUCKED SO FUCKING HARD OH MY GOD ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME.
[So yeah - it evoked strong emotions but uh - not for the reasons one would think are good...]

You meet Chase and Mia in "Just One Song" and they instantly hook up. Neither is looking for anything serious just friends with benefits. After they have been together for awhile Chase starts wanting more. I was really rooting for Mia to finally give into what she was feeling. She was letting her past make the decisions on how she dealt with relationships. She wanted no commitments and then when she has the health scare it just makes her push Chase further away. Even though she has started to fall for him she can't bring him into her uncertain future.
This story had me from the beginning but sadly towards the end I lost respect for Chase. He went from loving Mia and wanting to be with her to deciding to pick up a random girl and move on. All because Mia wasn't responding to him. Excuse me, she is trying to recover and was on drugs that were making her not totally coherent at times. It just don't see how Mia can so easily forgive him for what he was going to do. I just hate that the author took this direction with him. For as long as he was professing his feeling for her it just wasn't the Chase I had grown to love. This one I didn't really want to know or forgive.

This book is a good quick read. If you haven't read Just One Song, you should probably do that before you read this book. You will get more background on Mia and Chase's relationship.

Mia is afraid to commit to a guy. She says people always leave and she doesn't want to form a connect where she will get her heart broken. So she starts up a friends with benefits with Chase. She met chase when her best friend started dating the lead singer in Chase's band. She was all good with the relationship until chase kept pushing for more. Will she open up to him? Or will she push him away?

Chase has never had problems with one night stands. He has enjoyed not having a woman around to nag on him. He enjoys his time with Mia, but wants more from her. He knows she isn't willing to give more, but it doesn't prevent him from trying. When he finds out she is hiding something will he stick by her side? Or does he leave her?

This series is really good. I am hoping that there will be a book about Sammy and Jake! I would definitely recommend these books to read!!

Nur ein einziger Song - Mia & Chase
von Stacey Lynn
be-eBooks - by Bastei Lübbe

I had previously read Just One Song, the authors first book, and absolutely fell in love with the characters. Mia and Chase were such an important part of Nic and Zack’s (the main characters in Just One Song) relationship, that I knew I wanted to know more about them.

Just One Week starts a couple years after Just One Song ends. Mia and Chase haven’t talked to each other in months. Nic and Zack are about to get married. You see were this is going, right? I did say Mia and Chase played an integral part of Nic and Zack’s relationship….

“You take care of everyone you love, which is admirable. I just wonder if you will let other people take care of you when you need it.”

Mia. Oh, Mia. Mia is the epitome of a “runner.” When someone is doting on her, she’s uncomfortable. She doesn’t want to get close to anyone for fear that they will leave her. She is guarded. If she feels that something is going to upset someone else, she doesn’t divulge that information.
“This woman is going to be the death of me. She runs from hot to cold, turned on to scared out of her mind in a matter of minutes.”
Chase…I want to wrap Chase up with a bow and make him mine. He’s this big, scary looking drummer. He’s kind of hot headed at times, but when it comes to Mia, he’s just a big ol’ pile of mush. My favorite type of male characters. No lie. He is bound and determined to make Mia realize what she knows is true but refuses to admit.

“I just want one week. One week to take care of you, to know you, to prove to you it’s okay to let down your guard every once in a while.”

Now, let me tell you. I wanted to smack Mia. Smack is putting it nicely. I wanted to throat punch her. She has this guy throwing himself at her feet and she “doesn’t know if she can commit.” WHAT?! In fact….I had to talk to someone about what a crazy bitch Mia is. I couldn’t even get through the first half of the book without yelling to someone about her. In Just One Song, Mia is the stable one. Mia is the one who takes care of Nic…now, Mia has lost her damn marbles, like in a major way. Now she’s like, sipping unicorn juice. Nic is the stable force in her life now. Nic is the voice of reason, and lordy, it’s quite apparent Mia needs a voice of reason.
So, I think I’ve made it pretty obvious Mia drives me bonkers, right? That being said, once I got past my “that bitch be cray,” mentality, and actually got into the meat and potatoes of why Mia is like she is, I ALMOST felt sympathetic. This is just a great story about two people who have been in each others’ lives for what seems like forever. The way that their friends are their family just makes me smile. That’s what friends are supposed to be like, right?
The only thing that had me sort of confused at the beginning of the book was the fact that I didn’t really remember that Mia and Chase were really “together.” Perhaps it was a lapse in my memory, but, it wasn’t totally distracting. The whole situation was rectified pretty quickly.
I love the way that the author flows back and forth from both POV’s and the way she just draws you in to everyone in the book. I felt as if these people were my family as well. While there’s some heavy stuff that happens in the book, there’s also a lot of humor and snarkiness throughout, and that totally makes my little heart happy.
Definitely a great read that left me feeling complete at the end…and not wanting to punch a bitch ;)

L'histoire ?

This book was just as great as the first book. I loved hearing about chase and Mia in book one and more about all the characters too in this book. Mia and chase have been through a though relationship if that what you call it but Mia is scared and is keeping some secrets from chase and her friend nic but when all is out there things start to look up for her. xx

Awesome Story & Listen🎧 Gripping & Heartfelt!

Just One Week
Just One Song, Book 2
By: Stacey Lynn
Narrated by: Meghan Kelly, Neill Thorne

Stacey Lynn penned another fabulous rockstar romance novel, the second in her “Just One Song” series, this book features a different member of band, Chase, the drummer and good friend of Zack, the lead character in the first book. Chase was out with Zack when he first met Nicole and Mia, her friend is the one who pushed Nicole to flirt, which was where it all began for Zack and Nicole. But their story was not the only one that began that night, Mia and Chase started their no strings attached fling that night too. Neither one was looking for a commitment and they continued their fling for months until Mia stopped answering his calls six months earlier. Zack and Nicole’s wedding is coming up and Chase surprised Mia with a visit and a proposition. Chase’s feelings changed, and he wanted Mia to give him a chance, give him one week. But in true Mia fashion, she fights the idea because she has a lot going on in her life and some serious commitment issues. Chase is patient with her and she warms up to him remembering how good they are together and for each other. But she does what she does best and runs, she does not want to burden anyone with her issues. This book is as beautifully written and plotted as the first book, the story is captivating and tugs on your heartstrings the entire time. It was great to catch up with the other characters from the first book. Stacey Lynn, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Meghan Kelly and Neill Thorne continue to rock it as they bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, and are consistent with their character voices, giving each a voice that is a perfect fit to that character’s persona, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Meghan Kelly’s Mia is spot on, captures her strength and determination and her vulnerable side, Neil Thorne nails it as Chase. Both were great at performing the roles of the secondary character as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance, having you feel every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

Just One Week
Just One Song, Book 2
By: Stacey Lynn
Narrated by: Meghan Kelly, Neill Thorne

I was waiting for this release after the first book, as I knew Chase and Mia's story was going to worm it's way into my heart. Chase knows what he wants, and it it Mia. He has had the thrill of bring the rock drummer and enjoyed his fair share of groupies, but there is something about this woman that is different. Mia is set on not ever having a serious relationship. With a bad role model, she is not going to live her life the same way. Will Chase be able to change her mind? He is just asking for one week. Gah...my heart. Chase is swoony, and I can not get enough of this man. He checks all the boxes and had me from chapter 1. Mia has so much going on in her head and her life that I totally sympathized with her. She also frustrated me to no end! And getting to see Nicole and Zac was just a treat! I am loving this series. A little rock band, a little angst, a few twists and turns and I am caught up in the story and feeling like these characters are my friends. It shows how Stacey Lynn has pulled me into her world.

Narrated by Meghan Kelly and Neill Thorne is just a bonus! Kelly is a talented narrator, pulling out all the voices for these amazing characters. She delves into their minds and becomes them, giving us that realistic feel and drawing us into the story. Neill Thorne is a favorite, and as Chase he nails it. He has a warmth to his tone that warms my heart and makes it impossible not to love. Fantastic pairing for this installment of the story. Can't wait for more.

5 stars for Neill Thorne's performance. He is a favorite narrator and very talented at voicing multiple characters while conveying all the emotions needed.

4 stars for Meghan Kelly's performance ( a few hiccups in editting of her chapters) and I didn't connect with her voice in this particular book. I liked her secondary character voices much better than Mia.

Chase Harper is the dreamy drummer who was introduced in book 1. Loved this character!! I mean who DOESN'T want a famous, hot, sexy man who just wants his girl to reciprocate his love?

Mia was annoying at first, but once you realize (towards the end) why she is the way she is, it wasn't hard to love her!

Here's the short and sweet recap:

girl meets boy, they get hot and heavy with a no strings deal, boy falls for girl, girl freaks and runs, boy chases girl ... and, well, you'll just have to read/listen to find out how it ends!

This book was just ok. As i began reading, I felt like I missed a prologue somewhere. It just jumped into Mia and Chase's story like I was supposed to know this. I did read the 1st book in the series last month but could not remember everything about the story line until a bit later when the story intertwined Nic and Zach's 1st meeting.
The part I didnt really like was when Mia finds out about her breast cancer. I just finished treatment for breast cancer and know first hand how a breast cancer diagnosis can really fuck you up mentally. It bothered me how she pushed everyone away when she should have been trying to bring people in to support her but I guess people react differently to this shocking news. Chase was great. Mia was sometimes annoying. I hated the ending with Chase trying to move on from Mia and he flirts with the nurse and of course this is when Mia comes back. Ugh.
Story was ok.

Just One Week is book 2 in the Just One Song series and while each book could be read as a standalone the secondary characters story from book one continues in here. I loved this book, but really want to go back and read the first book on Nicole. I think it would give us a closer background and beginning to Mia/Chase as well.
Mia and Chase have a no strings attached rule and it seems to work over the years, but Chase is going to put his name to use (haha) and show Mia he's there for her and to let her feelings show. You'll love Chase, Mia at times, when you don't want to shake her and will enjoy the dual POV to really feel these characters. Oh, you'll cry, laugh and cheer on all characters in this story. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

This is so much different than most rock star series.
Chase has loved Mia since he met her in book one.
She was a fiery personality in that book. Just looking for a good time. But a fierce friend to Nicole.
In this book, Mia earns her brother’s nickname for her, Brat.
She’s hot and cold with Chase pushing him away more times than drawing him close. Must be real love on his part; not sure how many men, let alone rock stars would put up with her. The ending was weird. She catches him in a compromising position when she finally comes to her senses, just as he desperately tries to move on (albeit very reluctantly).
And she is all forgiving.
Very very different rock star series.

Well not favorite

This was not much romance then a woman who lied to her friends and never had a good talk with her parents. She just did not make me like her much. She was so different in the first book. Good night she jerked around the poor guy I don't blame him for his reaction. How did Mia just walk into his house? When did she get access to his home? The music and the band wasn't really important in these stories as it felt more like a backdrop then about the music. Also some mess ups where it says Jake is with Summer yet they are on tour so he would be with them. I guess I liked Nic and Zacks story the best.

So so good, I loved Just one Song where we first met Mia, she is best friends with Nicole who is getting married. Mia and Chase plan to just spend one week together. He just has to convince her he is worth it, but she is set on not getting attached to anyone. So many secrets AMAZING story LOVE IT.
