Azerick has come back from the abyss in order to try and unite all the races against the return of the old gods who seek to destroy them and subjugate the few they allow to survive a brutal purging. However, fighting ancient gods may be the least of his troubles as he battles to save a fractured kingdom, a brilliant son traveling a dark path, and the splintered soul of his own humanity.

Update 2012: Received my degree in computer networking and devoting my full time and limited attention span to writing. Thanks to everyone who is making this dream a reality.
Should have stopped at book 4 Making your female characters into weak simpering beings how chauvinistic. Can't believe you made Azerick ward into such a spoiled rotten thing let alone Dabien . How did Miranda become such a useless being weak willed and just plainweak. What happened to the strong willed sword wielding woman he first met. She got weaker after Azericks death, why would that happen. Then she raised a monster child, no part of her or her husband's good points! Sad interpretation of what happens in a single parent home, irregardless of having a bit of demon blood.
This series was pretty engaging when it started out but has gotten more convoluted as it went on. I will probably keep reading it just to see what happens and hey, I love to read, but it really has become quite a mess.
Not as good as the other books! I simply can't get over the fact that the author spent too much time focusing on the wrong thing. The world is literally coming to an end and the author spends so much time focused on Azerick's son rather than the impending army of monster and gods determined to wipe out everyone on the planet!
I think Dabian is the most interesting character in this series, the plot twists surrounding him and his intentions drives a wedge between empathists and patriots. He only acts to amuse himself, it is neither empathetic nor objective, which relates to neither love people or love for objects.
I liked it, but there is one thing that is nagging at me. In more than a few places different chapters or scenes seem to run into each other. Maybe its just the kindle app that isn't showing something. However, I think spacing and breaks between either scenes or character focus needs work. For example, one scene has one character doing something. The very next sentence we are in a different location with a non-related character and there was no division setup. Maybe a line of "-------------" or some carriage returns to show spaces, or even numbers within a chapter to show separation. Maybe its just me, or maybe its the app, but it throws off the tempo of reading it when you have to make an internal dialog change to realize where you were and where you are now.
Other than that, its an interesting read with a non-standard fantasy universe that is fun to watch evolve.
