DESCRIPTION Seventeen year-old spirit medium Emily Chambers has a problem. Actually, she has several. As if seeing dead people isn't a big enough social disadvantage, she also has to contend with an escaped demon and a handsome ghost with a secret past. And then there's the question of her parentage. Being born an entire year after her father's death (yes, a year) and without the pale skin of other respectable English ladies, Emily is as much a mystery as the dead boy assigned to her.
Jacob Beaufort's spirit has been unable to crossover since his death several months ago. It might have something to do with the fact he was murdered. Or it might not. All he knows is, he has been assigned by the Otherworld's administrators to a girl named Emily. A girl who can see and touch him. A girl who released a shape-shifting demon into the mortal realm. Together they must send the demon back before it wreaks havoc on London. It should be a simple assignment, but they soon learn there's nothing simple when a live girl and a dead boy fall in love.

I truly loved this trilogy, the characters are so well written with wonderful personalities I loved them all even the baddies. The storyline was very interesting, something different for a change. I was disappointed when it finished, I will certainly be looking for more books from this author.
A collection of books that combine romance and historical fiction in the best ways. A romance between a working class girl and an upper class boy. One being a spirit medium and the other the spirit of dead boy. You must read to find out this puzzle is resolved.
Very nice YA novel. Fun premise and quite plausible if you think some people can see and talk to the dead, or even if you don't think so. Very fast passed with fully developed characters. . Enjoy
The Emily Chambers Spirit Medium Trilogy Boxed Set
I couldn’t put this series down. Once months ago, I read book one, but reread it to keep to the unity of the set. I’m so happy to have finally read them all. I love CJ Archer’s writing.
As has happen in all of Cj’s books I couldn’t put it down. I don’t want to write spoiler so I will just say. As characters are revealed you might guess some of the outcomes but you will never guess the biggest one.
I was sucked in to the story as to why Jacob was different from the other ghosts and I was pleasantly surprised at the end. I really liked the characters too.
This trilogy is super cute and just a fun read. I highly recommend purchasing the set so you can follow through to the end. Especially if you find yourself caught up in Jacob. You will be glad you did!
This is a short and sweet shout out to C.J. Archer’s Spirit Medium Trilogy published last year. It’s been a while since I read these books, but felt like they deserved a rec since I will be reviewing her latest book, The Wrong Girl soon.
I’ve always loved the idea of Mediums and things of the seance sort whether in books or film, so last October I went searching for something with that theme in mind. I wanted a lite, easy read that had a spooky element to it. As if on queue, the Emily Chambers Medium trilogy materialized on my Goodreads recommends page. I started the book not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. C.J. Archer takes us to Victorian era London in this series and paints everything from the seances, attitudes, fashions, to the maids in BBC style detail. I could almost feel soot on my skin while reading her description of the houses and chimney smoke atmosphere. C.J. Archer paves the streets of London in historicall detail and I found myself committed to the trilogy from the first few chapters of book one. This series has sleuthing escapades, dark secrets, action packed demon hunting, and plenty of carriage rides steeped in sexual tension to talk about, but I’m just going to introduce you to the two MC’s. Emily Chambers is a 17 year old beauty with skin the color of coffee and cream. She lives with her spinster sister hosting seances for society women. Unlike her sister, Emily can really communicate with the Otherworld and uses her gifts to make a living. She also employs her talents to help her ghostly visitors pass from Limbo and resolve unsettled issues. Near the beginning of this trilogy, we meet Jacob Beaufort. Jacob is dark, mysterious, handsome and DEAD. He has been assigned to Emily from the Otherworld and has an agenda of his own. Thus, the “Murder She Wrote” ride and intrigue begin. This series was fun and suspenseful, with just the right amount of propriety to keep the romance interesting. I found myself casting actors from the CW’s The Vampire Diaries as characters in these novels, and couldn’t help but enjoy it. I’ll end this review with the paragraphs in book one that made me decide to keep reading: A man stood on the landing, leaning against the door, his arms crossed over his chest. He looked older than me but not by much, tall, with short dark hair and a face that was a little too square of jaw and sharp cheek to be fashionable. It wasn’t a beautiful face in the classical statue sense, but it was certainly handsome.[......] He wore black trousers, boots and a white shirt but nothing else. No hat, no necktie, jacket or vest, and scandalously, the top buttons of his shirt were undone so that his bare chest was partially visible. [....]“There you are”, he said. I dragged my gaze up to his face and was greeted by a pair of blue eyes…. (And maybe you already guessed it, but YES. Jacob screams Damon Salvatore to me.
The Medium (Emily Chambers Spirit Medium Trilogy #1) - 4.5 stars Emily Chambers has always been viewed as different and on the fringes of society because she can see ghosts. Not only has she been contending with that problem all her life now she has a killer demon on the loose and a devastatingly handsome ghost at her disposal.
As much as I loved the plot of this story the romantic relationship between Jacob and Emily did get a little cheesy at times however I was so engrossed in the overall story that it was easy to ignore. Emily is a captivating character and her interactions with her sister Celia are endearing and comical at the same time. Jacob is perfect, almost too perfect but I cannot imagine another ghost I would want to haunt me as much. I would totally recommend this book to anyone as a fun quick read and I am highly anticipating the second installment.
Possession (Emily Chambers Spirit Medium Trilogy #2) - 4 stars In this second installment there is a demon on the loose able to possess people that Emily and Jacob have to stop. In this second book we are able to find out more about Jacob’s death and Emily’s past.
This book was hilarious, especially how George reacted through the whole thing. I was a little less enchanted with Jacob in this one but overall I am still rooting for him, even though he is dead. I really want to find out who is after Jacob! I can’t wait to start the third book!
Evermore (Emily Chambers Spirit Medium Trilogy #3) - 4 stars When the spirits of the underworld are threatened by an unknown assailant Emily chambers once again has to come to the rescue but this time she has a lot more at stake, this time she might lose Jacob all together
A perfect end to the trilogy. I thought the relationship between Jacob and Emily thrived I this book and I was caught up in the story as much as the others. I am sad to see it end but I am excited to read more of what the author has to offer.
I picked up The Medium as a freebie and fell in love with Emily and Jacob. When I got to the end, how convenient is it to just download the next two books and keep devouring?! Very convenient - not good for getting much done :)
Emily is 17, and can speak to ghosts. Her mother is dead, her father unknown and she only has a sister, Celia. They have a small business holding seances. After a peculiar seance, she meets Jacob, the strangest yet most handsome spirit she has ever seen. Jacob is more real than most spirits and he has a task for her. To complete Jacob's request, Emily's world becomes filled with danger, mysteries, more supernatural things than she's ever met before, but most importantly the best of friends and family.
Although marketed as a YA novel, I was thoroughly enchanted by this clever story and I'm only young at heart, not young! An excellent story, beautifully told.
I got the first book as a gift, as soon as I was done, I immediately went and got the box set. It was intense, with many twists and turns that make you scratch your head trying to figure out who the bad guy was. I really enjoyed the story, loved the characters, the setting, the dynamic, and of course, the end! I don't like to write spoilers, so if you like paranormal and psychic, this trilogy is for you.
I chose the five star rating, because of the great writing style of c.j. archer. I hung on every word. waiting for the next turn of events. I could not put the book down. I couldn't wait for the next book.it's a great trilogy books.I would recommend these books to anyone who likes books on mediums.thanks to the writer for writing so well. can't wait to read more by the writer.
The wonderful world spun together in this trilogy blew my mind away. Not only was the past culture captured beautifully, but the paranormal aspect was thrown in with just enough originality that this trilogy held my attention from the first page to the epilogue. Incredible job Ms. Archer. I applaud your terrific imagination and intriguing characters. Thank you for writing these books.
More like 3.5 stars. I guessed the ending in the middle of the first book but it was a nice adventure and I did like Jacob so was glad to see he and Emily ended up together. I also figured out that Celia was her mum but the ride was nice. Its nice to read something which the most severe blasphemy is Hell or bloody. They are a nice read albeit a little predictable.

I want more. Loved this ending to a triple book The Emily Chambers Spirit Medium Boxed set. It had twist and turns that were surprising. You didn't want it to end. Well written.
I so highly recommend this book, it kept me up till I finished it. It has all the elements necessary for such a great read. The characters are detailed and so full of life. You will not be disappointed.
All three books in this series are extremely well written, with wonderful characters and riveting problems. The ending is positively wonderful. I can't wait to delve into more of Archer's books.
