Hot, sizzling, sexy scenes? Attractive, witty, bullheaded characters? Anxiety inducing story developments? Check, check, & check! The second in the Divinity Series is compelling!
Evelyn is a 135-yr-old kickass demon hunter with a demure side reserved only for Daniel, her boyfriend, trainee, and destiny. When the couple isn’t busy dodging demon attacks or knocking the snot out of each other on the gym floor, they are busy attending to their intense attraction for one another. In spite of her new found appreciation for love, Evelyn continues to struggle with letting other’s close… but soon she finds all her worries cast aside as tensions run high for all Hunters at the compound as they sense an indiscernible evil approaching. Duress only increases when Gabriel and Alex insist the balance that maintains human-life in existence will only be maintained if Evelyn goes after the Spectoral demon solo, AND if they link up with the one and only Lucifer. It’s going to take the entire team and their ties to one another to overcome this battle.
Entity is a quick, engrossing, sexy tale of danger and loyalty that will have readers at the edge of their seats. Book two picks up where Divinity leaves off, and is told by the POVs of Evelyn, Daniel, and the antagonist, Anabael. The story develops at a natural, but fast pace with crass, yet witty exchanges that resonate with my inner dialogue. The discourse exemplified by each of the characters is entertaining from start to finish. Leever has a way of making her characters come to life with each foul thing that comes out of their mouths. I love it!
The premise is bold and gripping, mushy bonding stuff included. The story unfolds in an effective manner that allows readers to savor the romance amidst the malevolent. The story was both plot and character driven this time around. Readers were given more of a glimpse into the use of spells in the field and Lebriga Corporation, which was thought provoking... I still want more answers! There was definitely more depth to book two, but not enough to keep me from feeling gipped. I'm a curious creature, I want to know more! This is no fault to the author, just a preference of mine.
Nevertheless, I highly recommend reading this series in sequential order so the growth these characters make both as individuals, and as a team, may be fully appreciated. This is an incredible follow up that does wonders at staying true to character and tone. Evidently I have a thing for these fabulous characters their ball-busting, facetious, and lively natures; I bet you will too.
