I wanted to share my favorite three stories from this anthology with you, in the form of a "review."
My story, Dancing with the Rain, (not to be confused with the Gene Kelly movie of a similar name) is in this anthology, and I would hope everyone reads and enjoys it. As I read through the anthology's other stories, I became humbled to have my short included amongst such fine writing. There was something I appreciated about every story here, but there were three that really stood out to me.
The Fourth Wish was, hands down, my favorite story in this anthology. It has a genie, who is tired of a master who is too clever for him to manipulate. It has a woman coping with taking care of a disabled family member. And it has three imps who act a fool throughout. If you can only read one story, make it this one.
Angels Touch also has great characters, with a unique take on angels and demons. This story is so well written, and you become invested in the journey and growth of the two main characters. And everything cultivates into a beautiful ending, leaving you with hope and satisfaction.
Finally, there's Chindi Moon, the last story in the book. A doctor, and Vietnam vet moves to an Indian reservation, and strange occurrences ensue. This read like an episode of the x-files for me, which is a very good thing.
Okay, that's my favorites, but don't take that to mean you can skip any in the anthology. They are all very good, and it would be a disservice to not read this cover to cover.
This indie collection of short stories was pretty satisfying overall. The "undead" part of the tagline is a little misleading--there actually aren't any vampire stories (I'm not complaining, just stating a fact). The majority of them seem to be more fae-centric, in various incarnations. I particularly enjoyed Cheryl Rydbom's female warrior with no time or inclination to stop for such a pesky thing as love, Nicole Dethmer's tongue-in-cheek take on the bogeyman, and Julie Luton's pairing of a psychic and a private eye with a personal stake in his case.
