She’s loved him all her life.

Lady Elise Halden knows how to get a horse to bend to her will with a gentle touch and subtle coaxing. But she’s learning that bringing the new Earl of Camden to heel is nothing like training a horse. If she has any hope of reining in the Earl’s affections, she will need a plan. With help from her friend Lady Beverly, and her sister-in-law the Duchess, Elise sets out to win her indifferent Earl’s heart.

He’s admired her from a respectable distance.

As young men, Michael Brightman and his best friend swore sisters were off limits. This promise was made solely to protect his own sisters from his friend’s charming, rakehell ways. The Duke of Caversham’s little sister was always a precocious minx to avoid, till one day Michael realizes Lady Elise is all grown up and the things he wants to do with the lady are surely going to upset the friendship with her brother.

Together they discover that physical evidence doesn’t equate truth, and trusting the heart is sometimes the hardest lesson to learn.

Already His is set in 1822. Locations include London and the English countryside.

Sandy Raven has a husband who spoils her rotten, and kids that are just a hair’s breadth away from perfect. She’s addicted to House Hunters International and has never missed an episode, though she acknowledges that she could never live in most of those countries because the houses are just too small. She is also addicted to Starbucks’ Chai Latte, and never passes up an opportunity to have one.

Sandy grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast with sand between her toes and perpetually frizzy hair.
Which is why she now lives in the middle-of-nowhere Virginia, in a place with minimal to moderate humidity (for perfect, non-frizzy curls,) rolling hills and farmed forests. The only downside to that is the temperamental satellite internet and the closest Starbucks being a thirty minute drive away.

Home is a renovated old farm house she shares with her hero husband, in the foothills of Blue Ridge Mountains, where she’s owned by more cats, dogs and horses than she cares to admit to. She’s a long-time member of RWA, and is a member of VRW and the Beau Monde. Second to writing is her love for her horses. She practices natural horsemanship, and loves to ride her barefoot Tennessee Walkers on the trails and in the woods around her home.

I find myself adoring the characters in this book as much as I adored Ren and Lia in the previous one. I also think that this one is a bit more on the humorous side as it made me laugh out loud on many places.

In the second book in the Caversham Chronicles we get reacquainted with Elise, Ren’s little sister, the one that’s a tomboy and horse mad. I wasn’t that impressed with her in Lia and Ren’s story, but Ms. Raven made sure I had enough of her background in this book and that was fortunate as I came to admire her greatly.

And then there’s our hero, Michael, a very best friend of our heroine’s brother, Ren. Oh, Michael, Michael, Michael! I loved you from the start, even though you made me want to slap you around a few times, you were someone who was determined to learn his lessons the hard way, but once you realized your ‘folly’ I admired your tenacity in correcting it.

Here’s another thing I loved in this story: the age difference between the couple was significant, yet the author handled it so beautifully.

Once again I find myself loving the fast pace this author sets for her stories, as well as the prose and dialogue which kept me intrigued and ‘glued’ to my Kindle.

By the way, all the stories in this series were written in such a way that you really don’t have to read them in order as they can be read as stand alone.

Highly recommended!

I enjoyed this book, it fell short of 5 stars for only one reason - I don't think Michael groveled nearly enough and I don't think the problem that caused the rift in the first place was explained to the reader - I mean I can guess why, but it would have been better if someone said that to Michael in story rather than assuming that the reader knew why he was wrong.

Other than that - I loved it! As with her first book, the story flows nicely and is extremely well written.

Now I wait ( rather impatiently ) for Loving Sarah to be released.

A quick and easy romance, this book takes place a year or so after the events of the first book and depicts the story of Elise, the sister of the hero from the first book and his best friend, Michael.

The story is not entirely unique, but the way the book is written, it flows nicely and kept me engaged. I loved seeing the characters from the previous book and although this installment was not as steamy as the first, it had some great tension scenes that kept me turning the pages, so to speak.

Narration
Narrators: Victoria J. Mayers & Dennis Kleinman
Performance: 4/5
Speed: 1.25x
The way the book is written allows for both narrators to have a performance that was both in sync and cohesive. Each narrator had great pace, pitch, and tone. My only problem with the narration was that they read the characters very similar to the way they read the main characters in the first book. So, at times, character distinction was difficult with some of the scenes that were heavy with dialogue.

Note: If you purchase the Kindle version for $2.99, you can get the audio version on Audible for $1.99.

Good Story

The story started out slow but steadily picked up its pace. Elise has forever been in live with Michael and it was only when she was old enough to have her own come out did Michael really took notice of her. From there they had their journey of ups and downs leading to their happy ending. The only thing I did not like about this story is how slow it was in the beginning. And then there was the endless introspection. I did enjoy the emotions it evoked once the exciting parts of the plot unfolded. There were lovemaking scenes here but not as much as the first book in the series (Ren and Lia’s story) and definitely tamer.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Too long, imbalance in power, heroine a bit silly at times, very overwritten with clunky sentence construction, anachronistic language and weird vocabulary choices.

Well, I was confused with timelines at first but after re-reading the first chapter I was up to speed. It does help to pay attention to those dates!

This story takes place during "The Season" the time when girls are introduced to society and become women. If it had not been for Elise and her friend Beverly all the endless parties, the dances, etc., would have been boring.

However, it was clearly brought to the fore that that is really all women had to look forward to: being introduced to society, wearing dresses, and looking for a husband with money and a title so she can give him an heir.

Elise is different, though, and although she chafes at the restrictions women must adhere to during The Season she nevertheless does her best because of her love for Michael.

Michael is a happy man who appears on the surface to be somewhat easy-going considering all the women in his family. Still, there is Elise, who annoyed him as she grew up. She's Ren's little sister for god's sake, and he tries his damnedest to keep that in mind but Elise has grown up. She is trying so very hard to prove to those that matter to her (Ren, Lia, Michael, and her Grandmother) that she truly has grown up. She is still a tomboy at heart, and she loves her horses, but she truly does understand what her role in society is to be, and she is willing to embrace it for Michael.

My only real complaint came with the moment Michael and Elise made love for the first time. His reaction to her "not being a virgin" was all too real, and I was right with Elise for "hating" him so abruptly.

Virginity is such a valued, strong, and extremely symbolic commodity during these times. Yet, it was all too realistic that some young ladies, who did not "sleep around" came to the marriage bed as "not virgin".

I wish there had been more about this and not just Michael realising that Elise truly loved him because of what he "saw in her eyes". I was really hoping that Grandmother would set the dummy right and tell him what many women already understood back then -- a woman's virginity could be lost through riding a horse as Elise did, or through other such strenuous exercise.

I also think the danger of Sinclair and his "Dominus Rex" fellows could have been expanded to a delicious darkness. As it was I spent nearly the entire time of the book waiting for the axe to fall and when it did it was anti-climatic.

Still and all, I loved the characters, and I look forward to Sarah's story. Adventure is promised.

GOOD BUT NOT GREAT!!

"Already His" is Bk 2 of The Caversham Chronicles. This is Michael Earl of Camden and Elise the sister of the Duke of Caversham Ren's story. Michael is also, Ren's best friend. One of the plots with Elise caused me to give this story 3 stars instead of 5. Being a much older women and born in a time when Elise's physical condition would not be accepted or believable. We didn't have this medical knowledge about the female body at the time. So I understood Michael's apprehension weather Elise was or wasn't truthful with him. It's very hard to word this review without revealing this particular plot of the story. Other reviewer say Michael was mean to Elise but believe me when I say during this era an still in this century Elise would have been ostracized if the knowledge about her got out. Enough on that becasue this is still a good solid HR and I loved Michael and didn't think he was mean to Elise just misguided based on the era. Elise has loved Michael all of her life and I felt so sad for her in this particular part of the story. This was not her fault and we women know this today but not back then and not in the earlier parts of this century.. The story moves fast and their is another plot involving a group of villains 2nd sons that do just horrible things. They call themselves Dominatas Rex!! The story has wonderful characters and I especially love Lady Sewell grandmother to the Duke and Elise. I also, though Elise's best friend Beverly and her maid Bridget were great supporting cast of characters. I hope others reading this book will see things from Michaels prospective and have compassion for Elise, becasue her situation was not her fault and she didn't even know this was her situation and why Michael behaved the way he did toward her. I am glad this particular plot line came close to the end of the story. If it had happen earlier I probably wouldn't have finished the story at all. But all's well that ends well. I would still recommend Already His. I will be reading Loving Sarah bk 3 and I hope their are more books to come by this author and in this series..

Already His
By: Sandy Raven The Caversham Chronicles Book 2

Is age really nothing but a number? Can Elise's childhood love become a budding romance with her brothers best friend? Michael made Ren promise years ago that their sisters were off limits to one another. At the time that wasn't a problem. Until Ren's younger sister made her debut. Michael could see she was no longer the little brat who once tormented him with her crush on him. She was now a beautiful woman ready for marriage and he was a man in desperate need of a wife to have his heirs. Could Elise be the one and how could he break a promise he forced his best friend to make years ago?

I fell in love with the first book Caversham's Bride and I am happy to say I was not disappointed by the second novel Already His. It is a very unique series, that I see continuing to become more enchanting with each book. I normally don't like books that change the main characters with each book. Most of the time this doesn't work. For the Caversham Chronicles it has only enhanced the visuals Sandy so easily portrays and makes you feel as though you are living within the family as it all plays out. I can't wait to see where Sandy Raven takes us from here with her third book in the series Loving Sarah.

Note: I received this book for free through GoodReads FirstReads.

So far, this is my favorite book in the series! I just loved it! Elise is just the perfect example of a female lead with a strong backbone that doesn't disappear or waver. She stands up for what she wants and believes. She doesn't change just because a man tells her to or pays attention to her. Due to this part of Elise's nature, she often keeps the male lead, Michael, on his toes and constantly trying to understand her and get to know her better. Michael, of course, has to make some mistakes and I definitely ended up not being too happy with him. (What he said was really bad and no one would be able to blame the female lead if she decided not to take him back.) The good thing, though, is that Michael does a lot of groveling and begging before the female lead considers taking him back. (Which is the way it should be, isn't it?) To me, there was never a dull moment and all of the main characters were very lovable. I can't wait to read the upcoming books in this series and see where everyone is and what they're doing. I would definitely recommend this series and author to anyone looking for a more lighthearted historical romance.

"You kissed me. ....it's mean you are the last... my mother said"

the first i confused about the story because so many character in this novel and then i know the main idea, plus i love writing style from the author, it's so detail.

Lots of grammatical errors

I don't know why, but either the author or the editors of this series, or both, need to go back to ninth grade and learn some grammar rules. Tense shifts and incorrect verb usage abound, as well as some weird misuse of prepositions. There are MANY run-up sentences and fragments as well, most of which could be fixed with a middle school grammar reference book. The stories and characters are interesting, if formulaic but the real problem is poor grammar. I thought maybe it was a fluke in the prequel novella, But this is the third book in the series, and the errors continue. I'd be more angry if the entire series hadn't been free or priced at less than $2 each, but this author needs some serious grammar instruction, or at the very least, some better editors.

Already His continues with the Caversham family and Ren’s little sister Elise, who lost her mother at birth, then her father and step mother, leaving her brother to raise her. The story shows the hurt child who finds comfort in her horses and loses her heart to her brother’s best friend, Michael. Her efforts to make her feelings known is quite amusing. By the time she is brought out, she is still much in love with him and her goal to make him notice her as a woman works. The heartfelt emotions waiting on Michael give the story depth. The twist of danger that arises builds the strength and love in Michael. Over all the story was a quick absorbing read. I found a few typos along the way, an easy fix, but also easy to ignore. I would recommend this story for anyone who loves regency romance. It’s worth the time.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the characters’ lives in this book. The story reads like an intimate family chronicle. The constraints and expectations placed on members of 19th century English aristocracy are skillfully worked into the plot, and effectively transport the reader back to that time and place. The characters struggle to conform and yet be true to themselves and their emotions.
Ms. Raven’s descriptions of period garments are beautifully done, adding to the credibility of the setting.
The secondary characters are well drawn and interesting in their own right.
If you are a horse lover, this book is for you. The heroine is an expert horsewoman. The training and breeding of horses is well documented and forms an integral part of the book

The Caversham Chronicles #2
I was thoroughly enjoying this book with lots of laugh out loud moments and some tearful ones too, and then I hit the spot in the book where **SPOILER ALERT** Elise decides that she can't possibly wait the 6 weeks until Michael's family comes out of mourning so they can get married. No, she, the 17-year-old virgin miss, decides she wants him now and sets about seducing her betrothed, Michael. I just didn't find this turn in the storyline, believable and thus the rest of the story fell flat because most of the rest of what happened I also didn't find believable. Up to that point, I would've given this book 4.5 stars easily, but after that turn, I can't in good conscience give it more than 3 stars.

Truly enjoyed it!

Elise fell in love with Michael when she was ten years old and carried a torch for him into adulthood. Michael had always thought Elise's infatuation with him annoying but tolerated it because she was his best friends little sister. When Elise had her come out, she was determined to make Michael love her as much as she loved him and what a determined young woman she was! I absolutely loved Elise and her interactions with Michael but have to admit that I was frustrated with Michael's inability to realize just how much he was falling in love with Elise. This was a fun and engaging romance with memorable characters and a storyline that kept me entertained throughout. Highly recommend it.

Elise is the younger sister of Ren. She has been in love with REN’s friend Michael since she was young.
Due to a misunderstanding some years ago when Michael’s sister was upset at a ball and Michael believed Ren responsible each of them has promised that their sisters are out of bounds.

Years later and Elise is still I. Love with Ren and finally Michael is beginning to realise that Elise is no,longer the annoying little sister if his best friend, but a lovely young woman.

There is a threat from a disreputable man as well as the “stubborn “ resistance on the part of Michael (and to a certain extent Elise) to the course of true love.

This book was okay... but it didn't blow me away. The suspense caused by the revelation of the Villain was interrupted by the obligatory sex scenes (that caused all the melodrama) and to my mind, this disrupted the timing/pacing of the novel. After that point, the story lost the tension, kind of like underwear that's accidentally been put through the tumble dryer.

Not a keeper for me.

AUDIOBOOK:Listened to it Jan. 24 to 26 2014

Narrator:Dennis Kleinman & Victoria J. Mayers
Well this one was way to long. It drags really drags way to much.
Didn't feel any thing real about either Elyse or Micheal. The love scenes were strongly lacking. And the plot fell much to short.

I did find the double narration a bit less confusing than in the first book but the narrators were not good at voices and at times sounded like they were trying to hard.

TERRIFIC

I was prepared for the usual sequel but I was so surprised. Tears, laughter, adventure, and heartache made this book so enjoyable and of course all the reference to the previous books was astounding. Hope you read the prequel and book one so you don't miss anything. Now I am on to book 3 hope it is as good as first three(includes prequel).

Loved the book. Elise and Michaels story was a wonderful read!! Elise has loved Michael since she was a little girl and promised to marry him. Michael promised his best friend Ren that sisters were off limits. It's getting harder and harder for Michael to keep his promise after he sees how much his little Elise has grown up. A great 2nd book in the series!!

I received this book as an unexpected extra for a Goodread's giveaway.

Elise and Michael's romance was, on paper, good. The storyline was good, but something about the execution or the way it played out left me a little ... disappointed or wanting more. It was worth the read, but just not quite what I wanted.

I enjoyed this story except for two points- no one explained to Michael why Elise *was* telling the truth (no spoilers) when it could have been easily explained by Elise's grandmother and there were a number of grammatical and spelling errors- "for she and Ren", "for all that they have done for he and Beverly..." for example. But then I'm kind of a grammar stickler.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I couldn't give it five stars only because of the number of times I got so frustrated with Elise due to her reactions over really trivial things. But overall I liked it and I plan on reading more from this author.

Sweet romance drags

I only made it to the 51% mark. The story thus far is sweet, but it drags. It's predictable. Any, although I liked the story as far as I read it, I got bored with it.
