Bedlam Maternity

In modern day London the ghosts of the past linger in the wards and corridors of Bethlehem Maternity. On opening day, a young mother plunges to a very public death in front of the cameras of the local press. The community renames the unit 'Bedlam' after the old lunatic asylum that the new unit is built over. Strange things continue to happen at Bedlam and soon local women are refusing to birth there. Rose Templar is the senior midwife who was on duty when the first death occurred. She alone sees the ghost of the dead woman walking the wards. Very well done. The writing was tight, yet evocative in the "chills up your spine" kind of way. Definitely recommend for fans of classic horror stories. The setting (hospital) and cast of characters amped up the ghastly tension even further too.

I read this as an ARC a while back, and I can still recall the details with enough clarity to re-goosbump myself. So that's saying something about the power of the story, for sure!

Very well written.. I read it in about three hours.. I am still thinking about it now.. A modern ghost story- or not.. Read it & decide for yourself..
