This book was born in Sri Lanka where I had the pleasure of travelling with my very good friend, A.T. Ariyarante of the world famous Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement. This movement is the biggest non-governmental rural development organization in any Third World country I know. For a week, we visited together one-third of the whole country which covered 8,000 villages... This book is timely in that it coincides with my 25th anniversary in rural reconstruction and the selection of the IIRR as the Ramon Magsaysay Awardee in International Understanding. -Juan M. Flavier
doctor flavier lived a very good life but he did not make a very good book. i admit 3/4ths of all the parables made me laugh but some of them are just corny... it was a fun short read even if he starts getting verbose for the sake of getting verbose
