“Come now, Percy. What you call ‘Western civilization.’ Do you think it’s just an abstract concept? No, it’s a living force. A collective consciousness that has burned bright for thousands of years.” – Chiron
“You shall go west, and face the god who has turned. You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned. You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend. And you shall fail to save what matters most in the end.” The Oracle
“A god is allowing you to prove yourself, Percy Jackson. Will you prove yourself a coward?”
This is a book written from Percy Jacksons' point of view our protagonist. Our 10-year-old protagonist finds that he is the son of Poseidon when he reached camp-half blood where there are other children that are sons of the gods. Percy finds he must embark on a quest with his friends to find Zeus' lightning bolt. The lightning bolt was presumably stolen by Poseidon so Percy Jackson the son of Poseidon must go on his quest to get past Cerberus fighting Medusa, and Minotaurs to save the world and his friends. And of course, most importantly Stop the gods from fighting each other or destroying the world.
This book reminds me of a few of the books that I've read from harry potter as they all start with a chosen child that must save the world with 2 friends from someone that is against them like an evil lord or a god that controls lightning. I recommend this book to anyone who likes the fiction genre and loves to sit down with a good series.

This is the best book ever. It is a bit boring in the first 60 pages or so but after that it is really really interesting. It surely will become your best book. Once you start reading it you can't stop reading it.

The way how Ares and Luke played with Percy & the Gods was amazing. I wish we could have seen that in the movies but well, its better.
