The author of over 80 books in a little over a decade of writing, Dan Gutman has written on topics from computers to baseball. Beginning his freelance career as a nonfiction author dealing mostly with sports for adults and young readers, Gutman has concentrated on juvenile fiction since 1995. His most popular titles include the time-travel sports book Honus and Me and its sequels, and a clutch of baseball books, including The Green Monster from Left Field. From hopeful and very youthful presidential candidates to stunt men, nothing is off limits in Gutman's fertile imagination. As he noted on his author Web site, since writing his first novel, They Came from Centerfield, in 1994, he has been hooked on fiction. "It was fun to write, kids loved it, and I discovered how incredibly rewarding it is to take a blank page and turn it into a WORLD."
Gutman was born in New York City in 1955, but moved to Newark, New Jersey the following year and spent his youth there.
Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar? A.j stole the cookie from the cookie jar Who me? Yes you Couldn't be Then who? Andrea stole the cookie from the cookie jar.
I did not see the twist at the end! Yay! These books can still surprise me!
On the other hand, I was surprised that none of my audience really cared for Mr. Hynde. His raps really weren't all that. But they did love to laugh to about Boring Mr. Loring and his cookie jar song. Maybe it triggered found memories of preschool?
speak about a strange teacher in a school. Before the 2 grade had a teacher very boring, in fact she is called Ms. Loring is boring. Then a day ms. Loring doesn't come to school, and how supply teacher come Mr. Hynde, the music teacher. Mr. Hynde is out of his mind.
I absolutely love this book. Mr. Hynde is the best!!! I want to be just like him, um expect for the American Idol part. He is the best character/teacher. And because I heard the book, the reader made his voice so perfect. I think these books are bringing the inner 2nd grader out of me lol I love them. It's a good break from my adult novels. It's so wholesome and really brings out the kid in us.
Listening to these books has definitely become a daily hobby of mine I look forward to. This one in particular was really fun and I liked it a lot more than some of the other recent books. The music class was a fun setting for the story and it made for some really whimsical scenes. The narrator did a really fantastic job and my husband and I were chuckling quite a bit.
A.J. is getting a new music teacher to replace "Boring Snoring Mr. Loring." But on the next day of school, a rapper is in his music room! They do a play of beauty and the beast, and A.J. has to kiss Andrea!!!!!
It's good but I do not like to much. I recc0nmend this book . And I give 3 stars because I like weird school I kind of don't like Weird school I would give 2 stars
I enjoyed this book too, but not quite as much as Miss Daisy is Crazy. I laughed at some of the dialog and recommend this for elementary children. (Karen's review)
Boys enjoyed listening as they tried to build a 10 dice tower. Pete was successful while Tito could get to 9…so close. The boys had no idea what American Idol was.
