A handy introduction to discipline for parents of children of all ages shares professional advice on how to set priorities, promote communication, establish the link between choice and consequence, enforce consequences, change disciplinary style to reflect a child's age, and more. Original. 30,000 first printing.
This offers a decent look at positive discipline. It offers a lot of good theory and suggestions for reframing difficult situations for better understanding and communicating with your kids. The organization of the book is not good for quick reference. If you're in a "parenting dilemma" and need some quick advice for the moment, or age-specific advice, this is not the book to turn to. But if you read it front to back, there is good stuff to be gleaned.
This is a fantastic book. I will read it again and again until I can practice most or all of the methods of this book. When I use these methods, my kids respond!
