The sequel to the award-winning You Are a Cat this furightening and appawling horror tail will stalk you, surround you and eat you alive. You pick the plot to keep at least one of your nine lives.
Overview: In this book you are a cat named Holden Catfield. And you are in a zombie apocalypse. (FUN!) In this book you will decide your fate as a cat. Will you survive? Or turn into a zombie? Who knows?
Thoughts: I am going to be honest here...I love this book including the first one. But this book gave me nightmares, haha! I have a thing with zombies and I get anxiety from them and thinking about it. And this book gave me anxiety And don't get me wrong I liked the book, it just was nightmare worthy, hah.
A must read if you loved the first one. Would have been a 4 but there was just too much gratuitous violence. And I mean deeply disturbing violence (trust me, I don't usually get squeamish).
On the other hand, I love seeing authors accomplish difficult scenes and some of the ones in this book are brilliant. This was what I loved about the first book: the author's willingness to contemplate the unsettling sides of life through a cat. In the zombie apocalypse, the awful side comes up way too often (for obvious reasons) and it sometimes wore out my heart place. I still recommend it for those up for an adventure because it is quite bold and I love that.
I used to be *really* big into the whole zombie scene, reading books, watching movies, dressing up for annual zombie walks. (Wil Wheaton hit the nail on the head with the phrase "reached peak zombie" and that's exactly what happened to me.) so most zombie stuff I'm sort of unfazed by now.
But this book was so playful, mixing 3 things I love: zombies, cats and choose your own adventure. I adored it!
You Are A Cat In The Zombie Apocalypse by Sherwin Tha
Is purrrfect.
I am a cat, Holden Catfield. I am dead, no thanks to assholes with a gun.
This is a pick your own adventure. So I’m bound to read it again and again. The first time I was very happy with my choses till I died. It’s a great purse book, because you can not only reread it, it can also be long or short.
The book is well written. Some may dislike the writing which is in second person (you are walking down the street). But it was sort of fun, like a literary video game.
I really enjoyed the zombie aspect and the feeling of being one.
This book is for anyone who enjoys pick your own adventure, cats and zombies!
Present from a friend. Very fun little book! I read through a bunch of the plots now and got a nice mix of good, alright, and bad endings. It’s quite a bit more graphic than anticipated, and I love the illustrations (all from cat’s POV).
Lol natuurlijk koos ik het plot waarin iedereen het overleeft! Bladerende heb ik een heel stuk vreselijker eindes gezien, en had niet verwacht dat er een happy ending in zat. Guess I did very well :)
Bonus points for sheer insanity! This book is the strangest. It's hard to say whether I "finished" it, but I did die several times, became a cat-zombie and eventually got a happy ending. What more can you ask of something like this?
A crazy choose-your-own-adventure book where you take control of a cat... during the zombie apocalypse. If you like the dark side of zombie stories this is right up your alley. My first read through I became a zombie cat, then I bit a baby!
This book was way more graphic than I expected, but I have no idea why I expected that. Was super thrilled to see two of the main characters are lesbians! Loved all the options, already read it twice. Very quick read with great comic-style art dispersed throughout.
