Benyamin (born 1971, Benny Daniel) is an Indian novelist and short story writer in Malayalam language from Nhettur, Kulanada, Pattanamtitta district of the south Indian state of Kerala. He is residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain since 1992, from the age of twenty, and his works appear regularly on Malayalam publications in Kerala.

Benyamin once again proves himself to be a gem with his witty style of writing in this book of short stories. He is at his best when he is narrating stories of people from different land, their cultures and values and the things they have to undergo while migrating to a different country in search of better opportunities.
The 9 short stories in this book are all well written and leaves you thinking. His humor is present here as well and you can see a smile appear every mow and then in these stories.
The last one stood out for me. It is the highlight of the book.
A great quick read for anyone.

None of the stories were extra ordinarily good,its a breezy read like Aaadu Jeevitham. But we meet many characters we have never met, that's reason to hate and love this book.


Stories about problems of Exiles but this time Benyamin not only writes about Indians ,he introduces to us people from many third world countries,there problems,though people are from different countries there problems are all same all of which we read in Jumpa Lahiri stories.


My personal Favorite was the story of a Kashmiri guy who lives life of an exile in his own country

I picked the book because of the intriguing name "EMSsum penkuttiyum" but the title story disappointed mainly becuase of the ending.

A collection of short stories of BENYAMIN from different regions of the world. A lot of reserch seem to have gone in to each of it. But not all of them has come out well. But the last one Ems um penkuttiyum is one of the outstanding short stories that have read. Purchase this one just for the last story although the rest of the stories are not bad
