FBI agent Tyler Reed trusts only facts and evidence, until the day a beautiful blonde delivers a life-saving warning ... based on nothing more than a vision.
Five years later, the mysterious Morgan Standish has used her talents to help Tyler and the FBI bring down countless criminals. Still, Tyler knows next to nothing about her. She contacts him by phone—and by some sort of psychic connection he's not prepared to admit exists—but has not shown herself once. Until now.
Morgan's gift may let her see things others can't, but it comes at a price. Getting too close to anyone is dangerous, especially the gorgeous, moody Special Agent Reed. For she's seen the future: if they meet again too soon, an innocent could be lost.
But when Tyler's latest case forces Morgan out of hiding, she is the one thrust into the path of a serial killer, the Psychic Slayer, who will stop at nothing to protect the secrets only Morgan can see.

Chasing Morgan was such an interesting story and I really did like this edition. I am not sure how I would rate this series so far to be honest, each book is so different from all the others so its really difficult to even try to compare any of these. I did really enjoy seeing how this book was written though. We have a bit of a unrequited love in this book, but their romance is a bit complex so its really hard to describe what this one is actually like. I do think in order to appreciate this book though, you really need to read the previous books as their story is built over the past few novels in the series. I did find it so different from this series this author has implemented some unique elements that you just don't normally see in a standard contemporary romance. I was so fascinated by the way that it was implemented. As the heroine has some psychic abilities and I really liked seeing something so different in this book. We also have a protective FBI agent in this one, but there is some unrequited love and it can be a bit confusing at times the way that these two characters treat each other at times. On the surface, the blame falls on the hero but in reality, both of them make mistakes that build into the conflict that divides them. But once they really come together, then the romance just really ended up working so well for me. I had such a blast with this one here and I can't wait for the finale!! Jennifer Ryan always delivers such solid romance and her writing flows so effortlessly. You can never go wrong with picking up a novel from her.
Chasing Morgan was sexy, fast paced, intriguing … a thoroughly engaging story. If you love FBI based story, pick this one up!
The bottom line: Jennifer Ryan has really found her storytelling mojo with this installment of The Hunted series and I’m excitedly looking forward to read her before previous ones too!

It has surely happened to you that a book with an interesting scenario has a flaw that turns it into a complete disappointment. It’s what I felt with Chasing Morgan, 4th book in The Hunted series. I didn’t read the first ones, but it can be read alone even if the couples from the previous books are present in this installment.
Tyler Reed is an FBI agent who’s been getting help for five years from Morgan Standish, a medium he has seen only once, but with whom he has a really strong psychic relationship. He feels at the same time an attraction and some resentment toward the young woman, because he’d like to see her in the flesh and at the same time get her out of his head in order to find the love of his life. When a psychopath starts killing female mediums, hoping to reach Morgan, she’s forced to come out of hiding, and Tyler must sort through his feelings in time to save her.
I admit Morgan’s abilities as a medium are well described, and her reasons to stay away from everyone, even Tyler, are really logical. I just found it a pity that her extreme sensitivity to the feelings surrounding her and the loss of energy due to her gifts have her lost consciousness several times. Tyler is a basic hero who has some troubles knowing what he really wants and he is a little overwhelm by the young woman’s powers. You can think they fall too quickly in each other’s arms, but they’ve been psychically connected for five years so that didn’t bothered me.
Those who have read the previous books will love seeing the three other couples, who essentially help knocking some sense in Tyler’s head and demonstrate Morgan’s talents. They prove too that we can create a far better family than the one we are born into.
It took me a while to realize that if I wasn’t hooked with this book, it was because the author talks of the characters’ feelings but I didn’t feel them. Furthermore the dialogs are often a succession of monologues, which is annoying per se, but is further complicated by lines breaks which make believe the interlocutor has changed, and it takes a few lines to understand that in fact it’s always the same person who’s speaking. And to make matters worse, there is a lot of head-hopping, sometimes even in the middle of paragraphs, a bit like a ping-pong match which could have more than two players. Of course it helps to know what everyone thinks, but it tends to lose the reader along the way. Not to mention odd constructions of sentences which made me blink.
In short here is a story which could be interesting, with a well thought suspense, but which is in fact completely ruined by a difficult-to-follow style that doesn’t suit me. I don’t know of it’s a writing habit of the author, and I don’t intend to find out.
Good plot. Disliked the hero for nearly half the book, but he was way better in the second half. I think Morgan was pretty great and I enjoyed her gifts.
I had my first experience with Jennifer Ryan’s work when I read the second book in The Hunted Series, Lucky Like Us. I enjoyed the story and hoped Chasing Morgan would be just as good, and, again, Ryan did not disappoint. Even though I haven’t read all of the books in the series and characters from previous stories reappear to play minor roles, I was able to follow the plot without confusion or disappointment that I didn’t’ read the series in order. Ryan has written each book as a standalone and fills in necessary background for you to understand the relationships among the characters and their importance to the plot.
Tyler Reed, an FBI agent has had an unusual relationship with a psychic who only goes by the name of Morgan for the past five years. I became aware of their connection to each other when I read Lucky Like Us and, although their story thread was peripheral to the plot featuring Sam and Elizabeth, I learned enough about them to entice me to want to know what would happen between them in the future.
Since the story opens with an established, albeit, unconventional relationship between Morgan and Tyler, I initially worried that I had missed out on the excitement of their one and only brief encounter and wouldn’t understand the odd connection they have with each other. At first I thought my worries were justified since it’s clear from the start that Morgan and Tyler are able to communicate telepathically no matter where they are geographically located, and I wanted to know how their relationship began and why Morgan chose to forge a long-term connection with Tyler, when she keeps her distance from everyone else. As the plot develops, though, Ryan describes how their relationship evolved and how their infrequent communications either by phone or telepathically have impacted their lives. So all of my questions about the dynamics of their relationship do get answered over the course of the book.
I was surprised that five years had passed and Morgan has still refused to meet with Tyler or let him know of her whereabouts. She knows all about Tyler’s life and his family, but she won’t reveal any personal information about herself. When the story opens, Tyler is frustrated by Morgan’s evasiveness and his friends think he’s become obsessed with finding Morgan. Although he’s an FBI agent with the means to find Morgan, he’s always stopped himself to respect her request for privacy. However, when Tyler breaks a promise he made to Morgan, a series of events are set in motion that bring danger into Morgan’s life and are the catalyst for bringing them together.
Morgan is a gifted, multi-talented psychic who uses her gift to help others and is willing to sacrifice her happiness to ensure the safety of others. I appreciate that Ryan doesn’t just label her as a psychic and leave it at that. Instead, she goes into great depth to explain Morgan’s unusual powers and how she is able to use her talents to provide assistance in a variety of difficult and dangerous situations.
Even though Morgan feels a special connection to Tyler and has come to care deeply for him over the years, she is adamant about keeping her distance, and as the plot unfolds, her reasons become apparent and justified. Not only is she trying to avoid unwanted media attention but her traumatic past has given her little reason to trust others. Morgan is depicted as almost ethereal and angelic. Almost everyone who gets to know her adores her and, indeed, she’s almost too good to be true. She has an inner strength and unbreakable spirit that allow her to endure the obstacles she faces in the book.
Tyler is a good man but his stubbornness bothers me at times. I don’t understand why he is so angry with Morgan even after their inevitable meeting. Thank goodness, his friends and even Morgan call him out on how he has let his pride and selfish behavior become an obstacle to the woman who has become so much a part of his life that he can’t seem to live with or without her. It’s frustrating to watch him in denial trying to find happiness he doesn’t think he’ll ever have with Morgan.
There are two main antagonists hunting Morgan, her father and a serial killer known as the Psychic Slayer. Morgan does have visions that alert her to what is about to happen, but her visions aren’t always clear to her, and readers don’t always have full knowledge of just how much she does know about the upcoming danger. Morgan is sure of one premonition; if she’s going to survive she will need Tyler’s help, and she questions whether he can get past his anger and resentment toward her to be there when it matters.
Chasing Morgan is a nice blend of romance and suspense. Love scenes occur late in the story, and they are integrated in a believable and appropriate manner considering Morgan’s danger. Although the antagonists’ motives for their behavior are revealed, they are still depicted as flat characters with no redeeming qualities. Several POVs are used to narrate the events, and I am impressed with how smoothly Ryan is able to switch character perspectives even within a scene and not interrupt the flow of the story. Overall, this was another enjoyable read by Ms. Ryan.
Sooooo much better than the last book. I'm glad I stuck with the series after the debacle of The Right Bride. Honestly, the only reason I did was because I was already invested in Tyler and Morgan and had been waiting for their story.
That's not to say that Tyler didn't piss me off a bit in the beginning, but I really do understand why. He thought he was doing the right thing and just wanted to be happy. He just didn't really know what that meant until he met Morgan face to face.
I loved the mystical connection Tyler and Morgan had. I also enjoyed the "happy Jack" stuff. That was cute and brought some whimsy to the story. The way the "family" took Morgan under their wing immediately and didn't treat her as an outcast for her abilities was really touching.
Again, I'm glad I kept going in this series. It kind of bothers me that when the family gets together Caleb and Summer are barely mentioned, but that's not a deal breaker for me. And Ben is coming back in the next book so I look forward to that.
I would have to say this book was my favorite. I just loved Morgan she was sweet and the power she has is amazing she really is like a fairy. Morgan and Tyler were destine to be together but Tyler kept pushing away because even tho he knew her for 5 years he hasn't seen her. Tyler does have a girlfriend for have the story but she really isn't involved, she is just there for a bit. I wasn't sure how I liked that but her being there didn't really matter because obviously he was in love with Morgan. She has been helping the FBI for years and soon it is time for her to need their help because now she is being hunted. Tyler was great in the other books I was excited to read his story, when he finally realize how much Morgan meant to him he did everything he can to make her his. Great story suspense, killer, psychic, and family.
So I've read quite a few books in this series and this was one I liked the least. I feel like I tried to read it once before and gave up even though I don't remember the story. I liked Morgan. I liked Tyler. But their lack of communication is astounding. I know what you are thinking. You are thinking that romance novels are all about lack of communication or even miscommunication. It's a plot device that drives the plot. This lack of communication is worse than the usual.
Trust is an interesting thing. People often think that they should have it even when they don't deserve it. That is how I feel Morgan acts about Tyler. She has helped him on his cases in the past, but she has also put up barriers and boundaries. Tyler actually maintained her boundaries and he was punished for it. Somehow Tyler is expected to put his full faith in a connection that he doesn't understand of trust even though he needs it. She was mad at Tyler because he never asked about her personally. Apparently he asked about where she lived and how she knew what she knew but he didn't ask her personal questions about her specifically. Personally I think the questions about where you live and your abilities are beginner questions. But even if he had asked her more personal questions, would she have answered? No she wouldn't because she was trying to keep him at arms length so why are you mad that he doesn't know you when you didn't encourage him to get to know you?
And all of his friends were mad at Tyler and on Morgan's side and I thought that was really shitty when she told them more about herself than she ever told Tyler. In this case, I am on Tyler's side. I think it's so wrong to hold him off for years then be pissed at him that he didn't try harder. Oh so he should have stalked her? Morgan can kiss my behind for refusing to communicate with him.
Tyler was wrong too because he was angry about the wrong things. And his priorities aren't the best, but I deeply sympathized with his need for love especially with such a difficult job and watching all his friends have deeply fulfilling relationships. I understood why he decided to make it work with someone else. Sometimes having someone is better than having noone. Why didn't Morgan see that? Especially when she is supposed to love him sooooo much.
If this book isn't the end of the series, then I won't be reading further. Morgan as a solo character was super likeable but as a real love interest for Tyler, she was lacking for me. Part of me thinks I must have missed an important part of the plot but I don't think so.
Morgan has been a part of Tyler's life for eight years. He had only seen her once but she has come to mean so much to him over the years. Their connection was something that could forge a life long bond or tear them apart forever. She was always there for him when he needed someone. She was that voice of reassurance when times go bad. Until she wasn't.
Morgan had been through so much as a child. She had a life that just kept taking and taking. She thrived on the happy, content thoughts of others. Their positive energy gave her the boost to move forward. But when things were bad they were really bad.
Jennifer delivered another great book in this series. I have to say that I let this read with unanswered questions and doubts but still got a very satisfying read.
If you have read the last two book in this series before this book then you will absolutely be thrilled of the outcome of Tyler and Morgans story. She totally blew me away and the connection between these two has no words. After 5 years they will finally meet and take on the roughest case that Morgan has come across. She will also have to deal with family members that are not nice. Tyler will be with her pretty much every step of the way as they both work to bring bad men to justice and work on their understanding of their special connection.
In this one Tyler was almost as stupid as Cameron in the last book. I'm glad that it didn't go on for the whole book, instead we had Tyler's pissy attitude about Morgan and her abilities.
I really loved how protective Jack and Sam were with Morgan, both of them even took Morgan's side over Tyler's, at time keeping her away to protect her. Seeing the Turner twins come to terms with what Morgan could do was fun.
So the heroine says I won't answer questions about myself for years & the hero accepts this, but he's the asshole? I don't think this author knew how to write the characters of her third & fourth books in the series.
This was definitely one of the better psychic romance books I have read. Usually those books either don’t have it factor in that much or it’s superficially explained. Overall, I thought it was a great book and it really pulled me into the story. However, there were a couple issues that brought the rating down.
1. The writing.
-Often switched POV from paragraph to paragraph without making it clear who was talking and including many side character POV. I get what the author was trying to do with this, trying to show the character reactions and thoughts to the heroine and her gift. It just didn’t work that well. I actually almost gave up reading it in the beginning because it was sometimes a struggle to decipher. Luckily, the story was engaging and intriguing enough to keep me going.
-In addition to multiple POVs, there was sometimes lacking descriptions. What I mean is that sometimes actions weren’t described but then the character would do something that means they would have had to have done the first action to get to the second. An example... the hero (Tyler), his best friend (Sam), and best friend’s wife (Elizabeth) are all arguing about how the hero is dealing with the heroine. At one point it becomes a heart to heart between Elizabeth and Tyler where they are mentioning why Sam is upset about the situation. I kept wondering why they were talking as if he wasn’t standing right there as that was where Sam started out in the conversation. Turns out he must have stormed away angry or something during the talk because he ended up across the room. I had to go back and check how I missed him moving and turns out it wasn’t in there.
2. Hero lacked background. I wanted more background on the hero and his situation. He has a sister that never even comes into the book even though it sounds like they’re close.
3. Romance lacked depth. Honestly, this book is more of a psychic thriller with a secondary romance plot. I did enjoy the plot but as I came for the romance I was left a little unsatisfied with how it developed. I often felt that the heroine was almost a one-woman-show in that her abilities seemed to solve everything without the police or the hero needing to do much other than stand around. While I did enjoy her psychic abilities being utilized so well in the book, it would have been nice to find a balance so it was more of a partnership between the heroine and the hero in solving the mystery.
Overall, would recommend. This has some dense writing because of all the explanations and set up that needs to happen so it’s definitely not a book you can read but not pay attention to. I actually liked this aspect because I felt like the author did a great job of giving the reader a deeper understanding of the heroine’s gift and its effects. I’d say give it a shot if you’re looking for a more involved book rather than a light read. If you can get past the weird writing it’s a good read.
3,5 stars. I liked the blurb on this book, which is why I chose it for my second read by Jennifer Ryan. I'm really really glad I loved the first book, it's the only thing that kept me reading through the first half of this story.
Chasing Morgan was fast pasted and engaging story. So many twists and turns you will think you have been on a merry-go-round. Loved this book. 5 stars.

I like that this book brought us back to the features I liked best about Sam’s book. People behaving in deeply human ways, both the best and worst of our nature, without artificially stupid actions to drive up the drama and angst. I really appreciated the perspective the author uses about psychics. She shows that some are all flash and showmanship while there are others who have abilities that defy our perceptions and sometimes even our capability to understand. I loved watching the relationship between Tyler and Morgan develop. It took its time and progressed naturally. Even with the supernatural elements in this story, their connection wasn’t anything as one-dimensional as lust-at-first-sight or instant soulmates. This was another book that gave me hope for the whole series.
I love romantic suspense and if a psychic is involved the better! I really enjoyed this book and loved Morgan. Loved her tenacity and resilience. I didn’t give this book 5 stars because of Tyler. He annoyed me with all his doubts and desperation for a wife. Like really?? So desperate to get married like he were an old spinster. He redeemed himself at the end, but still... his attitude in the beginning was terrible.
As I suspected, these stories are getting better and better. With each book. Morgan is written beautifully. I loved everything about her. As far fetched as being a “psychic empath” sounds, every thing just seemed believable the way she was created by this author. Not a single time , did I think she’d gone too far. I think Morgan might just be my favorite character. That would be right after little Emma though. She’s just delicious.
A psychic and a FBI agent falling in love. She has these abilities to read people, past, present and future. He believes in the tangible and thinks she has an uncanny knack for helping solve cases. They have an unique connection to each other, where they can hear and see things in each other's mind.
Was so excited to get to book #4 in the series and get o read Tyler and Morgan's story - AND it was just as good as I anticipated!!! Morgan's special powers added such a unique and captivating element o the story - could not put it down!
Started out great but for me psychics are never fun characters to have in books because 1) they over explain everything and 2) they know everything which drains any tension out of the book. Romance was incredibly straightforward and they immediately fell in love at exactly the same time.
