Half angel, half demon, Tsukimiya must drink pure demon blood to stave off the curse that will eventually claim her life. When she meets an angel named Hinata, he's eager to team up with the half-blood to take down a vampire that has been attacking humans. Tsukimiya is surprised to find that Hinata is a capable partner, but when the vampire is slain, it is Hinata who claims its demon blood, leaving Tsukimiya to be taken by the curse. In a last-ditch effort to save herself, Tsukimiya tries to drink Hinata's blood, now mixed with the vampire's pure demon blood. But in taking the blood that will save her, Tsukimiya has also transmitted the curse that will kill her. Hinata and Tsukimiya now share the curse...and they're running out of time.
Meh. Gratuitous posing of two characters that I didn't really care for or care about. Drawing style felt off as well, with the heads being too small and the limbs awkwardly stocky and not foreshortened well (not that I could do it any better). Some of angel / divine / demon themes seemed ripped off of Angel Sanctuary. Plot leaped around. The first pureblood demon that they encounter looks like the Millennium Earl. Wouldn't read any more of this series.
I honestly didn't enjoy it that much. The beginning felt rushed and I wasn't engaged at all. The middle was okay but I don't like how 'half-breed" is used in every other sentence. And the ending was okay but not great imo.
While I am not a huge fan of religious stuff in media, I cannot deny that this particular series is just great.
One cannot help but be wrapped up in the exploits of Tsukimiya and Hinata. A bit of an underdog story, with a conclusion that makes you immediately want to find volume 2.
I loved the illustrations and the sexual tension was pretty good in select areas. The overall story was kinda confusing though. Manga are so short though I can’t give a real review after only one. 3.5 stars. Will be reading volume 2 to see if I enjoy it more
This manga is like piling potential upon potential. There is numerous potential in the art, the pacing, the writing, the characters, the story, and so on. But there's just something about how it's all edited together and how it feels like some things are omitted which shouldn't be... it just doesn't feel quite right. It makes this manga brimming with potential feel like a run-of-the-mill ordinary supernatural manga. However, probably around ten pages in, I could already tell it was a G Fantasy or Gangan manga, as anything Square Enix somehow manages to give off this same aura and vibe, one that I can't quite put into words. I'm very attracted to it and I think that whatever that vibe is, it really added to the charm of Bloody Cross. All that being said, I have high hopes for Bloody Cross, especially seeing how long-running it was. I feel that it'll either never improve, or it'll steadily improve. But I know for certain that it won't go downhill. I do know it'll likely become far, far darker though, if I know my Gangan. I really like many of the designs, so I hope this series continues to hold my interest.
When I first was raking up this manga to read I was thinking, this might be a typical vampire story thingy. Though when you are talking about manga the word typical can only be addresses to one genre: Shoujo & Romance. I think I was looking for something similar to “Orange Marmelade” by Seok Woo, but they have absolutely nothing in common except the word supernatural in their genre section.
From the very beginning it started fast, maybe even too fast, but I guess I just didn’t read the summary, so I was missing out a lot of stuff. The author doesn’t solely focus on one particular character, it might be even true to say that even though Tsukimiya is a main character, and she sometimes acts as a supporting one. New volume, new chapter and a new character and all of these new characters are so different that you are lost in them, but no matter how different they may seem, they all have something in common and that is: Greed for power or in other words ambition to become the next God. No, no, I didn’t just make a mistake there. They realy want to become the next god.
The story begins with a half angel Tsukiyama and Hinata seeking a pureblood demon to lift their curse. They do defeat the guy, but due to betrayals from Hinata and a really risky step from Tsukiyama both of them are still left with the curse. So, they now are seeking a book of prophecy and are really hoping, that it will have enough power to lift both of their curses.
What I was really enjoying in this manga is that every character has his/her personal agenda. They do not care who they will align now or betray in the next moment. It’s just like the saying: “means justify the end”. However, there is a bit of romance, mainly between Tsukiyama and Hinata, however, it is always on edge. You never know what is going to happen next. No need to even guess, because the intrigue is so intense, it may drive you to jump pages to then go back because somehow everything got different just in the few pages that you missed.
No matter what I say here, I won’t be able to fully tell you what I think about it, why? First, I haven’t finished it yet, and am desperately searching for next chapters in English. Second, if I started, I wouldn’t have kept it all to myself and would have just spoilt the whole excitement this manga might bring you.
I hope you try it out. 8 volumes are already in English and next two are being released in 2016. Or you can just go to online websites and read it there. Well if you know French you may get all ten volumes. Hope you’ll get the same feelings as I got from reading it.
I have a penchant for vampire stories and this was a 2.5 read for me because honestly none of the characters are particularly likeable and the world building is very chaotic. Tsukimiya is half angel and half demon and like all her kind she is cursed. She has to drink pure demon blood in order to stave off the curse that will kill her. She is tracking down powerful objects and demons trying to stay alive. She comes across an angel, Hinata who also is hunting the same demon. In the end she tries to feed from him and they end up sharing the curse.
In this universe, I'm not exactly sure how the half breeds happen since Angels seem to disdain the vampires and definitely the half breeds. I suppose that doesn't matter much. The rest that follows is Tsukimiya and Hinata partly working together, partly trying to outdo the other while full blooded angels manipulate them.
It ends on a cliffhanger but I don't see myself looking for more. I didn't like either character and I didn't like that of course Tuskimiya's curse mark is on her breast and we're always finding reason to rip her shirt open (meanwhile Hinata's mark is on his hand). I'm getting a little old for that sort of nonsense and the story wasn't interesting enough for me to look past it. Yen has many better offerings.

This was so chaotic. The plot was bad. The villains sucked and reminded me of a kids show but with blood and death. The fight scenes (which was a lot of the book) were so confusing especially for a manga reader newbie like me and the girl main character literally got her boob out every second. Also, they need to stop saying half blood (and referent to race) in like nearly every page. It’s so annoying.
However, the redeeming quality of this book: I actually like the protagonists even though there annoying and unlikable; and the ending.
They die. The only reason I’m going to keep this book.
It surprised me so much and I actually like it as it makes the book feel complete cause who wants to read the next books about new characters and the villains who were absolutely terrible?
It also didn’t feel to religious to me so thumbs up on that front.

This manga was very good and had a lot of action in it. This manga is about a half angel, half demon named Tsukimiya she must drink pure demon blood to survive because of the curse she has for begin half angel and half demon. Later she meets a boy named Hinata who also is half angel and half demon, they find themselves fighting and looking for the same thing, which is the prophecy book and key. Now they must team up together in order to find both to end there curse once and for all. But with Angels in Demons in the way it may not be to easy for them to get the book and the key.
I usually don't really like vampire series but this one really got me into it! And its not just vampires it half angel half vampires which is even more awesome! The whole concept and artwork is really good. All the plot, characters and story are really incredible and enjoyable. They are really enjoyable and fun to read! I first got this recommended in a manga library because i loved the series black butler, the guy recommended me this book and it is really awesome! So i recommend this for anyone who loves the series Black butler!
I love this series!!! I happened to find it one day online and once I started I couldn't stop. The characters are intriguing each with their own unique history and quarks. The storyline is exciting blend of adventure, mystery, betrayal, and romance. Neither the romance or the action is overpowering with humourous moments to help you love the characters even more! The only thing I'm sad about is that it isn't completed yet.
Picked this volume up on a whim at the library and dropping it just as fast. I don't find either of the protagonists likeable and the art and story are chaotic.
I'm not gonna rate this book since I flipped through the last half (why I said sorta). I'm usually pretty lenient about the first book of a series but nothing....resonated with me at all. There was a lot of fighting and blood and stabbing people and so much about being a half angel and half demon, and that was it. I don't have to like the characters but I gotta have a story line, and nothing really happened, except towards the last few pages. Even then, it was just another character coming into play. The two main characters have a curse that they're both sorta blackmailing each other into being a team and also have unresolved sexual tension pfft. Perhaps it gets better as the series goes on, but for now I'm dropping it and moving on to something more interesting for the sake of yolo, if nothing else.
