When Xion loses her Keyblade, it's Roxas's job to make sure no one finds out. As long as the two can go on missions together, no one will know that it's Roxas collecting all the hearts. But will Demyx blow their little secret? And when the Organization issues an order to Xion to capture an outsider masquerading as one of its members, who will come out on top in the ensuing battle?!
Shiro Amano (天野 シロ, born January 4, 1976) is a Japanese manga artist who has worked on several projects, including his adaptation on the popular Kingdom Hearts series.
I think it’s no secret that I get emotional easily, just not outwardly. I mean, I'll often get misty eyed but I'm not usually the showy kind... unless it has to do with Kingdom Hearts. Damn, this series is turning me into a mess! And it's almost always the music that gets me. You could probably play a couple seconds of “Traverse Town” from the first Kingdom Hearts right now and I’d tear up pretty much instantly. Great, here come the waterworks! So it’s a little surprising to me that this manga adaption is putting me through it as much as the games usually do. I think I know why; this specific story is a Pinocchio story! Or maybe the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz? It's both, because we follow Roxas, Axel, and Xion, three “Nobodies” (people born without hearts) as they search for ways to become "real people." They quickly grow from being simple coworkers to inseparable friends who’d do anything to stay together. This is shown in the narrative through the days passing (hence the title. Day 1, Day 94, etc.). And we get to see as they literally learn how to love through their relationship with each other! The kicker being that this is an interquel, so if you know the story to Kingdom Hearts 2 (spoilers I guess), you know that all three of them disappear in one way or another, giving this story a melancholic sense of doom from the first page. It's not dissimilar to Song Of Achilles... but I basically say that for anything I really like. Anyway, they do eventually get their happy ending in Kingdom Hearts 3 (I haven’t played it yet), but fans had to wait forever for that one, so these characters existed in a sad limbo for a very long time. The later installments also give a million lore reasons as to how people with (apparently) zero capacity to love can learn to do so, but I really didn’t need all that to believe that people could grow “past their programing.” Just say it’s the power of love or whatever. Always been good enough for me! But then again, I’m a sap.
I apparently have forgotten most of what happened in this series from the video game, because I only really remember Roxas, Axel, and Xion eating the sea salt ice cream on top of the bell tower. Everything about the missions, and the mystery behind Xion is completely lost to me, but I think that's why I am enjoying reading the manga so much - because it's almost like a new story to me. Roxas is still my fave, and I love that we see more Disney in this volume than we did in the first. Definitely recommend this series to KH fans.
This volume really made me smile, and it reminded me and helped better teach me some very important things about friendship too. All throughout it, but the lead in chapter with Aladdin really opened my heart and mind for the rest of it to really sink deep in. Oh, and seeing Xion go from super happy and fun to see to suddenly in a depression made me think about myself and why almost everyone seems to have left me from when I was a happier person. I really have come to like Xion, it makes me feel excited and happy to see her interact and stuff, but when she's depressed, suddenly my like for her plummets. I think that's how most people felt toward me when my happiness left me. But enough about me. I wonder why Xion is now able to use her own keyblade again? Riku mentioned it was but a "sham", that it wasn't real. Perhaps she can replicate Roxas' keyblade by feeling and remembering his warmth, considering that's how she sees the keyblade. She sees it almost as an embodiment of his warmth, when she's holding it, it's as if she's holding his hand. Maybe that's it? But then what is Roxas' keyblade? Is it also a sham, or is it the real deal, since Sora can't use his? I suppose we might find out soon. And Axel seems to be hiding something important... What could it be? Annnyywaay, this volume made me smile a lot, it lifted my spirits, and I even laughed out loud a few times. Soft giggles or chuckles, but that's a lot for me nonetheless. I was feeling down, but I feel so much better now. I only needed an open heart to allow this volume to effect me, and it did so quite positively. Also, this is probably one of my two favorite volumes out of the five. Xion is just so cute. And black and icy blue together is perfect for her, and perfect for the story too. If this spin off had a color combination, it would be black, icy blue and sunset orange. (Black, the color of their coats and the emptiness in their chests. Icy blue, the color of Xion's eyes and the sea salt ice cream they bonded over every evening atop the clock (?) tower. Lastly, sunset orange, the color of Roxas' hair and sometimes Axel's, and the color of the sky as they watched each other and the horizon while eating their sea salt ice cream.)
Kivana lisänä on Disney-hahmot sivuosissa 😁
Suosittelen tätä kirjaa kaikille, jotka ovat ensinnäkin lukeneet edelliset osat, manga ja mielenkiintoinen tarina kiinnostavat 😊
While I haven't played this game, I have watched a play through, so I do get an idea of what is going on.
I like the 'Behind The Scenes' approach to Organization XIII, as this wasn't really shown in the game from what I saw. It gives a more personal approach to the characters.
some of the art style in this during some scenes is very good and brings a lot of humour to the characters. The early morning meeting and how everyone is feeling about it is quite funny!
The main characters names are Xion and Roxas. Xions traits are Nice, and she is very encouraging. Roxas's traits are also nice and encouraging and he is serious when he goes on his missions. So they start as wearing this dark long cloak with a hood. They are also not the only ones they have a group and the group name is called the organization 13. Also one of the people in the Organization doesn't like Xion because this person named Saix which is also in the organization knows who Xion really is. Then after Xion, Roxas, and Axel are done with there mission they go to a town and they go on a clock tower and eat ice cream. Then later Roxas and Axel sees that Xion is hurt. Then they take her to her room and that is where the 2nd book ends. So what I think for this book (my opinion) is good because it is really creative of how the author made the people and weapons and its cool how they make the people go on missions and go to these creative places to defeat heartless and its awesome how the author made the heartless, also for example Roxas and Xion go to Beauty and the Beasts castle because there mission is to defeat every heartless that is there.
Definitely the cutest volume. =3 Xion is so adorable! I especially liked the expansion of Vacation Day, and Xion's 'First Day Off Meeting'. It's like she's channeling Vexen (because let's be honest: he would). X3 Also, Roxas and Demyx's 'discussion' at the end about pushing buttons. XD Oh my gosh, I about died the first time I read that!
But not all is sunshine, and we're starting to get hints of the darker plot behind everything. You gotta feel sorry for these poor kids.
I really love all the extra character stuff in this series. The Days manga is by far the best of all the KH manga, and it adds so much to what we get in the game. Definite 5 stars!
I only had ten pages left before I moved to Dublin, but I finally got my manga back to me! Five stars because everyone is adorkable as hell like can you not. Also for Belle smacking heartless with a broom, you go girl. And for Xion, who is incredibly precious even more so in the manga. XION AND PUPPIES. Wait, I feel like I've yelled that before...
I'm kind of surprised how much I liked the manga adaptations of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, especially since the actual game was sort of a miss for me. I found the the pacing of the game glacial and the feeling of the Org XIII Headquarters very bleak. However, the manga goes along steadily and the interaction between the Organization members is really entertaining.
It seems like the strange humor that occurs in the previous mangas (KH1, Chain of Memories, and KH2) is better managed. I never really understood why people liked the nobodies of Organization XIII so much. From playing the games, I just couldn't relate or sympathize with any of them, but Roxas and Axel. However, I legitimately liked a few of the members by the end of this manga series. Reading 358/2 before I read the KH2 manga series paid unexpected dividends, because I was able to enjoy the humorous interactions between Sora and the Org XIII members so much more.
By the way, can anyone confirm that Demyx is the Org XIII member that gets blasted by the Claymore system in the 2nd KH2 manga? Because that would have been even more HILARIOUS than it already was if true.
Anyway, there's a good improvement in the overall quality of this manga adaptation. The art is consistently good. The story is well managed, even with the extras thrown in. I really get a sense of Roxas, Axel, and Xion's "feelings" throughout. I would absolutely recommend this series to anyone who wants greater insight into the characters and story line between KH1 and KH2.

Kingdom Hearts is dumb and there's no denying that, but if you enjoy it then this is a good way of imbibing the stupid yet interesting story of one of the DS spin-off games (which also includes some of the most important story beats and characterizations of the series, because Kingdom Hearts). Particularly, the characterization in this adaptation of Three-Five-Eight divided by two days (or 179 days, as fans call it) is fun and superb. Fun stuff.
Until Xion can find a way to regain the use of her own Keyblade, Roxas joins her on missions so Saix doesn't learn the truth - but as they attempt to hide the truth, an imposter starts causing trouble, and failure to capture them could result in serious repercussions for the Organization...Amano brings fans more fast-paced action and charming humour with this sequel entry, a fun blend of jokes and heart start to finish. Will Xion ever be able to summon her Keyblade again?
I'm glad to see xion get her keyblade back. Sion,Roxas n Axel hanging out at the clock tower n eat sea salt ice-cream while watching outside n talk things they like to talk about.Demynx - trying to see xion weapon n he already see roxas weapon.I hate saix n telling them what to do n give them mission n tell xion that she is failure.

I liked this book. But you MUST read the book before because it made it really confusing on what was happening. This book was mixed in with Disney characters so it made it kinda like an epilogue.
Great continuation of the story! The pacing was a lot better in this volume and I loved the small changes/additions to the story from the game. I can’t wait to read the next ones!
Me encanta, porque a pesar de ser una historia que ya es conocida en los videojuegos, el manga posee muchos componentes nuevos, donde el humor destaca.
