I am a true romantic at heart and with a modern contemporary erotic twist to my romance novels, you had better fasten your seat belt, as the ride is always fun, exciting and fiery.
Living in Las Vegas, but a mid-westerner at heart, I find plenty of inspiration for my books in my own exciting life. I have always loved the arts and as a young girl, I took dance classes and spent the summers reading books from the local library. Fascinated with the written word and its power to guide the imagination, I started writing short stories and later took Creative Writing classes in college. I graduated from The University of Iowa with a B.A. in Journalism and an M.A. in Higher Education. I also have a Teaching Credential from Chapman University in Southern California.

Breathless is the story of Jesse Morrison, an injured Motor Cross rider who is in a slump of drugs, booze, and women.

”My motto was to “get fucked up and score as much pussy as possible. Life is short.”

Jesse gets a reality check from his big brother who ships him off to California to help run his uncle’s sport’s bar.

The moment Jesse sees Niki Milani, he falls head over heels for her. Niki knows jack about Jesse but decides he’s a player and is torn between her safe boyfriend who works at her father’s law firm and her attraction to Jesse.

I felt bad that cupid’s arrow pointed him in Niki’s direction because I didn’t care for her at all. I mean Jesse saw her as a girl who changed his life but really he did it all on his own with no help from her.

Niki's actions regarding the fight at the club were CRAZY. As well as her reaction to being called the c-word and Jesse clocking the ass who said it. When these events occurred, she ran claiming she couldn't handle the violence. But she's never been physically abused, just had a controlling dad. Her reasonings just didn't justify her running from him TWICE and treating him like the plague.

”Jesse’s an asshole. I don’t know why I keep thinking he is worth pursuing. He hasn’t changed at all.”

(Changed from what? You didn’t know him in NY…he has been a prince to you!!!)

”I will, Niki. You are my sweet angel, so beautiful and good. I never had much faith in love, or miracles, never wanted to put my heart on the line, until I met you, and everything changed.”

Good? She was NEVER nice to him!!!

Anyway, I think Jesse and the girl from the bar were more interesting than him and Niki. Or better yet her best friend who plays the guitar Kat.

There will be a continuation to this book and I’m hoping that Eve Carter can either improve on Niki or have Jesse move one.

I tried to get into this book. I really really did. But it was all over the place! The transition between scenes was really choppy, and a lot of the conflict presented in the book was unwarranted. The author also seemed to repeat herself unnecessarily by rearranging her sentences. The main characters weren't built up enough either, and the dialogue was mediocre at best. By the time I got to 89% I just wanted the story to end. I didn't feel a single connection with any of the characters which is a shame because that's what readers are looking for; that connection. In all honesty I think the plot of this book is a wonderful idea! It had potential to be a great story. But for me, the author fell short. Really really short. The ending was meant to be a cliffhanger but it wasn't even remotely enough of one to get me interested in the next book.

I really hate giving anything less than 3 stars, but I didn't feel like I had much of a choice. I personally don't even feel like I could ever recommend this book to anyone. Now, even though it wasn't my cup of tea I powered through in order to finish it. So, if even after you've read this you find yourself still interested in it: I bought my copy over at Amazon for 99¢.

Breathless by Eve Carter didn't leave me breathless but left me exhaling on how frustrating, annoying and discombobulated this story is. Unfortunately, bad boy tormented motocross rider and hot abs of Jesse could not keep me from liking this book. This book was simply a mess and the characters were not love-able at all. Also, if you do decide to read this book there is a cliff-hanger.

Breathless is about Jesse, a motocross rider who is going off the rail because of an injury that has made him unable to compete. He is shipped off to Southern California to live with his Uncle Kenny and tries to get his act together. He will work in his uncle's sport bar. Niki, a recent college grad who lives with her best friend, Kat decides to take a year off before applying to law school. After meeting through a mutual friend one night, they have instant attraction that can't be denied..Their relationship felt more lustful and chaotic than loving.

What I didn't like:
‣ Jesse- character was just all over the place... As of right now, he didn't have any redeeming qualities for me.. He is a drunk, man-whore, violent, has anger issues, unappreciative, and rude.
‣Niki- as a heroine, she is just annoying. First and foremost, it took 65% into the book for her to dump her boyfriend Jason. The first half of the book all she did was complain that Jason was blah blah and not right for her...If you already figured that out, then why string him along???
‣ As much as I like alternating dual POVs in a romance story, it did not work out for this book. It just made me frustrated with Jesse and Niki.
‣I wasn't surprise with the cliff-hanger ending...I already knew the "obvious" outcome so it wasn't shocking.
‣Lastly, the romance between Jesse and Niki is just a complete "hot mess." They fell hard for each other so fast..I didn't feel any love and connection between them. Personally, I would be turned off from any guy who solves his problems with his fists and alcohol, has anger issues, and the first thing he tells you that he is going to stalk you and he actually does it... Hmm... telling me that you are going to stalk me, doesn't work for me. It only screams DANGER!!!

The only exciting and entertaining part of the book was when Jesse met the hot bartender in Colorado..Personally, I think the author should have made this book in Jesse' POV and his road to recovery of healing and then incorporate the connection between him and Niki.

This book has been sitting on my e-shelf for awhile now, so I figured I'd give it a try. The story took a long time for me to get into, but once I did, I liked it. It was a good read, but nothing mind-blowing. It got significantly better for the second half, otherwise I would have rated it lower.

The storyline was predictable, but one that usually works out well. Troubled man-whore meets girl of his dreams, falls in love instantly and has to change his ways to win her love. Yadda, yadda, yadda. We've all read it before, but like I said, it works. Sometimes you don't need to reinvent the wheel.

It was good for passing time and is an easy read. It wasn't one that I got emotional over. That can be good or bad, depending upon what you're in the mood for. I did like that the chapters were very short also. It made it easy to find a stopping point.

The book does end with a cliffhanger, so I'll be reading the next book to see what happens. If you're looking for a stand-alone, beware.

"Maybe you are just a beautiful fantasy. Kiss me, before you evaporate and disappear." And that is where I just could not read anymore. I read that aloud to my husband who in turn pats my leg and replies " No man in history has every utter a line like that." This book was difficult to even make it this far.

In this 1st book we meet up with Jesse again (he was a side character in another book). He's your typical brooding, my life sucks, alpha male whore. He owns up to and welcomes all the pain that comes from the alcohol, drugs and fighting. You see, he's a motocross racer who's been injured and is unable to do what he loves. Also his mother is in a mental care facility because she couldn't handle the death of his father (happened when Jesse and his brother where very young). This leaves Jesse feeling like if he would have been with her instead of living his dream, his mother wouldn't be having this mental breakdown. He feels like it's his fault her life was ruined.
Jesse gets kicked out of his brother Jimmy's NY home because Jimmy and his wife can't deal with his lifestyle anymore (I'd love to hear a story of how they met).
Jesse goes to the only place he can, which is his uncle's (his dead dad's brother). His uncle owns a bar in San Fran and he thinks it will be a good change of pace and hopefully he can get his sh*t together.
All this takes literally about 50% of the book. While it's well written and has a good flow, I did not like that the main couple had yet to be together. I think they originally meet about 35% or so, but didn't officially show real interest in each other until the 50% mark. Up until then it's basically Jesse sleeping with random women on his trip to CA from NY and taking drugs.
I mean I know you want to emphasis how messed up he is, but we can trust background building to get the point across and don't have to see it first hand for half the book. It kind of tainted him in a negative way to me. Made it hard for me to really see him as a "hero/alpha type". I guess he really is just more of a bad boy. That's just my opinion though (obviously), I'm more needy when it comes to my men :)
Anyway, so FINALLY our couple starts to date and at this point the book is actually quite perfect for me. If we could take about 30% out of the first half and move the part when the couple actually gets together to that mark and build on that even more or have more than one sex scene in it, I'd love the whole book. But I really only love the last half of it.
The heroine, Niki, was great in the beginning but by the end I wasn't sure how I felt. One thing I didn't like about her was her thoughts on him fighting. She has issues with men acting controlling. Apparently him standing up for his friend in a bar fight and then him punching a man because he was calling her names was showing controlling tendencies. Ehhh...I didn't by that so much. Yeah it was violent, but violence and control are really two different things in a way. I mean, her problems are with control because of her father. She wasn't an abuse victim or anything. I just couldn't put those two together to were I sympathized with her. Actually EVERY word Kat said to her about how she needed to get over it was perfect and read my thoughts exactly. I mean dayumn woman, what you want? A pansy little leftover man or a man that will protect and shelter you. He'd done nothing to show he was abusive verbally or physically toward women/men or that he just had random violent outbursts. Everything he did had a good reason behind it.
At this point I was actually feeling sorry for Jesse because I didn't think he did anything wrong, which then tainted the heroine negatively for me. So I actually ended the book (awesome ending by the way) not really liking Niki that much. Kind of felt like she's a bit of a b*tch instead of my sweet girl that started out in the beginning. I feel like he basically is going to have to check his balls in to her every time they get together or risk pissing her off and her running again. Maybe not, maybe she'll mean what she says and be over it and move on with understanding in book 2.
SO - all that said - good book. Fun to read, some steamy scenes (not as much as I'd prefer, but hey, whayda do?), great characters - totally recommend. I'm hoping book 2 pulls some punches in getting these two straight.
Also, I love the story line that developed with the Uncle. The ending was a good cliff too, not so much to do with the couple (yay), but about the story developing within the family. Will definitely pick up book 2!

Breathless (Jesse, #1) BY Eve Carter

I recieved a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

That was fun! I didn't love this book but i also didn't hate it;i just had fun while reading it. I like how this book was boy/girl POV . i LOVED how the Author didn't let Jesse Morrison and Niki Milani meet at the first pages, we actually don't see them together until later, so that was a plus. At first we see Jesse's life and what is he all about! we see what he went through and what he is suffering and why he is the person who he is today. The same goes to Niki, we see her life, friends, love life.

The writing style is cool, you wouldn't know that the person who wrote Jesse's POV would be the same who wrote Niki's.

I liked that characters, some were were funny, mysterious, and some were assholes . Long story short this book had everything right.
The ending was ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME. I'm excited for the next book to come so that i'll know what will happen.

I loved how this book started - from Jesse's POV, real, raw, honest, dirty… and then Nikki happened and I just couldn't get into it. I don't know - there was nothing about her I hated, I just didn't like/feel her character. Like "that spark" that happens between them the first time they meet? I just didn't feel it. And I just couldn't feel it the way they fell in love - to me it was too instant. Now I know it happens ALL THE TIME in books and I fall for it and believe and love it but in this story, between these two characters, I just couldn't. There was just not enough connection between me and the characters. And that's just me. Sadly, I skimmed through a lot and beware, there is a cliffhanger. Two stars. It was just okay for me.

DNF at 33%...

Won't say much...

It didn't worked for me because:

- too many time to say something we could read in one chapter;

- a bit confusing... at a time I was in Vegas partying, then I was cleaning a room?... (I can't even remember where)!

- too much repetitive...

- Nikki... what a confusing/WTF girl!

- Jesse... dude... WTH?

So... yeah... that's it!

A special thanks to Eve Carter for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Story:
Playboy leaves town to get a fresh start. Boy meets girl and swears to change forever.

 photo tumblr_m4v6s9phln1rwsy4to1_250_zpsa3baac9c.gif
It's your classic romance.

Jesse Morrison:
is this hot tatted-up professional Motocross rider whose luck has it recently run out. When an accident leaves him injured and out of the races for a while he turns to drinking and whoring around leaving quite a trail of women in his wake. Finally, his brother has had enough of the destruction that Jesse is reeking on his life and he has to leave in order to get it together. With no other options he jumps at the invite from his uncle and moves to California to help run the neighborhood bar for the summer. This is just the change that he'll need if he ever wants to recover and have a better life.

Niki Milani:
is the perfect daughter to a perfect father, or at least she is now that her past is behind her. Recently graduating from college, Niki decides it's time to spread her wings and gradually start living the life that she's always wanted and not her father's. Problems is, her dad's commanding personality allows little of her own dreams. But the tables are slowly turning and Niki is determined to defy the father that has always provided but never really been there, and venture out to make her own choices.

The Change:
When Jesse and Niki meet through a friends outing at a club Jesse's whole world flips upside down. He's only ever thought about a few things when it comes to women, and relationships and honor haven't been it. But watching Niki in the club has sparked something within leaving him completely changed. It's like no one else matters now. He hears and sees only Niki. Of course this becomes a dilemma as he continues to fall for her and she continues to block him at every given chance. Fortunately for Jesse he doesn't give up easily and Niki slowly concedes.

As two begin to date it is obvious that they have chemistry and then some. They are bonding in more ways than one, but there are many differences that threaten to break them apart. As Niki attempts to fight her own demons of abandonment issues with Daddy, Jesse slowly unravels a secret past that will change his life forever. Only time will tell if Jesse and Niki will be able to withstand the turbulent course they are on. Are they really meant to be together or are they just too different to make it work?

The Best Thing:
I liked how the story ended up having layers of issues as it progressed. You get a background on Jesse and then by the end of the book everything you think you know about him and his upbringing is challenged.

The Worst Thing:
Well this book dragged for the first 5 chapters at least. I kept readig about Jesse, and while I knew it was important to get some background on him I thought that his story wasn't really going anywhere. I think it would have been okay to just state that he slept around, got in fights, drank too much, etc. At one point I just felt like it was over kill.

As the story progressed you could tell that something major was going to reveals itself, but the build up was too slow me, then out of nowhere there's this major revelation and a random cliffhanger. It left me feeling shell shocked but not necessarily in a good way...I'm still debating on that feeling.

Overall:
I thought the storyline was good and hapotential to have a better delivery. The characters were interesting and have good back stories that make you interested in what's to come later. I give this a story a solid 3 stars. I have higher hopes for book two since we know a few things will continue to reveal themselves.

I don't like giving bad reviews and I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately, it's just not a great read. The first thing that bothered me about this book was the writing, it's very juvenile and the dialogue was a bit unbearable. There were also quite a few typos and Carter kept repeating the same lines over and over. The story was also all over the place, one minute Niki knows nothing about Jesse and then all of the sudden she mentioned that he's a motocross rider? Then, she spends 5 mins with him and she knows everything about him, but in the next chapter she mentioned wanting to get to know him? There's no real flow to the story and to be honest nothing really happens until about 50% in.

Nothing about this book felt realistic and the characters were very one dimensional. Niki is possibly the most annoying, stupid, self-centred character ever. I found it very annoying (and quite unbelievable) that she was so angry at Jesse for fighting. Yes, the first time it was hectic but for her to get angry with him for defending her? That's just plain stupid. And Jesse was a weird character, he starts off as this "bad boy" with issues but suddenly transforms into a whiny, obsessive child. It just didn't match up. The side characters were also annoying. Kat is a bitch and Chase has no personality.

I love the cover and liked the premise of the story but unfortunately, Carter's ability to put the story together and her writing ability just didn't live up to expectations.

I loved Jesse the moment he made an appearance in Deceived Part 2. I am so glad the author decided to give him his own story.
This story is written in alternating POV, which I enjoyed. You get background on both characters and see where they are in life before they meet and are able to watch them grow as individuals and as a couple.
Jesse is a smokin' hot motocross rider at the top of his game, or at least he was before an accident that left him injured and unable to ride professionally (for now anyway). He develops some vices to cope while he's feeling sorry for himself: alcohol, drugs, & ladies. The sex scenes are HOT!
Niki has just graduated college, still trying to decide what she wants to do with her life. Go back to school to become a lawyer, like her dad wants or do what she really wants and pursue fashion design. She's been doing what her father wants for a long time: boarding school, college, living at home, & date the guy he wants her to date. Niki decides to spread her wings a little and leave the nest.
Jesse and Niki meet and both their worlds get turned upside down. It's a great story and I can't wait for book 2. Their sex scene was HOT in a totally different way than his previous sex scenes. It's pretty obvious why that is though in the story line. I have a feeling he and Niki will have plenty of hot, steamy sex in book 2. :)

Jesse's brother is kind of an a**, "you're effing drunk, Jesse. You effed up again and I'm sick and tired of saving your sorry a**. You need to get your s*** in one bag, dude. Seriously, I can't always be there for you. You're lucky that Manny called me earlier and told me you were in trouble. Otherwise, I would have picked you up in pieces from that ditch over there tomorrow. You're a effing embarrassment to me and my job." Harsh much? Jesse has a sarcastic bone in him, "no. Are you whack? My idea of weight lifting is lifting beer bottles to my lips." He's also a total flirt ladies, "your hands? They don't offend me. What if I want your hands on me?" He's also relentless, "Niki. Before we go back let me just tell you, I'm not stopping until you're mine. You didn't resist the kiss just now. You didn't tell me to leave you alone, so be prepared to be stalked." It's always good to have a warning. His thoughts are just so entertaining as well, "I could take it slow, if she wanted. It would be hard, I mean difficult. Hard was what happened in my damn pants every time I kissed her." So there was a cliffhanger just not a big one to have me make a big deal out of it, I'm so ready

I really wanted to love this book but just didn't. I didn't hate it, it was just okay.

First I think it was drawn out a little too much of the crazy drugs, sex and alcohol with Jesse before you ever get to the part where he meets Nikki. I mean I did want his background of course and wanted to know what made him so out of control but I was ready for the story to really begin.

I think the love story was too rushed I would of liked it better to have it to where you latch onto their relationship anticipating what will come next but I never really got that and for Jesse to have these drug, alcohol and sex issues and decide just after one look at Nikki that he's done wasn't too believable.

Now Nikki I didn't really care for her either. She has no backbone. And she is so whiny and girly. I mean who would want a man let another man yell at you and curse you and him walk away. Not me. I was glad Jesse laid into Trevor but not Nikki, she whined about it forever.

I don't know it just was all so rushed to me. Not enough of a reason to fall in love with any of the characters.

Jesse Morrison is on his own path of destruction, drinking, partying, and sleeping with anything with touching distance. After he gets shipped to his Uncle's to get a reality check, Jesse finds himself smitten fr the first time in his life.

Niki Milani has a "safe' boyfriend but it doesn't stop her from having mixed feelings about Jesse. Niki is trying to branch out away from her father's control and find her own path. Jesse makes it clear to Niki, boyfriend or not he wants her to be his.

What starts off as a destructive story with Jesse turns into a bad boy reformed romance. Niki is an interesting character, she is a bit mixed in her behavior but it works with Jesse who is changing in his own way. Looks to be a great series.

I so loved this book, even though at first I was like what a douche he is a sloppy drunk, druggy, aggressive trouble maker omg but then you get to see the real Jesse. The one that when he loves he is all in when he fights it cause there is a reason. Nikki triggers a side in him that was lost and now will she be enough to hold him,to continue as the man he should be. Will her love be enough to keep him on track or will she scare and run.. Omg you will so love this book. There is a cliffhanger but believe me it is worth it. If you want the bad boy motor cross, body of a god, flirtation of a man then this it the man for you...

Once again, another awesome read from Eve Carter!

Jesse Morrison? Oh hell yes! The guy freaking oozed sexy, sinful, bad boy but with such a vulnerable side that it made my heart ache for him. He doesn't seem to ever catch a break, until Niki.

His career is hanging in the balance, his mom is ill, his uncle is keeping secrets and the only way for him to handle it is to meet with his daily therapist Jack Daniels, who is very well paid to numb his pain.

Can poor, sexy Jesse finally catch his break?

Eve - You are awesome! LOVED IT!

Loved this book. Jesse and Niki are two different people trying to find themselves and not be someone they aren't. Wow....There are no hold backs in this book.......young, hot professional Motocross rider, Jesse, had everything until he had an accident that left him off the tracks while he recoups.

"Riding was my passion, my fire my life."

Not coping well, Jesse turns to drinking, drugs and lots and lots of women. When his brother, a police officer, gets him out of trouble again, he tells Jesse he needs to leave town and try to regroup and get himself together. With no other place to go, he heads to Santa Monica, California to help his uncle with his bar. After a week in Santa Monica, this is when he meets Niki.

Niki, sweet and beautiful but seems to have lived her life trying to make her father and everyone else happy but herself. Finally, she decides after graduating college she wants to take time off and take some fashion design courses. But this is not what her father wants. He wants her to go to law school and follow in his footsteps. Dating a lawyer from her father's law firm, is another thing she decides that is not what she wants. Jason is everything she does not want...smart, safe, stable and boring........ Niki decides to move in with her best friend Kat, so she can get from under her father's roof. Kat is everything a best friend should be. She wants to bring out the part of Niki that has been hiding for years. And of course, Kat can't stand Niki's boring boyfriend Jason......

"There's more than one fish in the sea and what you need is lobster, the best and tastiest, not some gray flatfish."

Jesse and his co-worker (Chase) at his uncle's bar decide to go out one night to meet up with some of Chase's old friends (Niki and Kat). Once Jesse lays eyes on Niki, he knows he has to have her. But to his surprise, Niki on the outside shows no interest but on the inside she is silently obsessing over him. Her inner obsession and internal fight to stay away from Jesse "the bad boy" type finally succumbed to his continuous stalking........

"The heart wants what the heart wants".........

"It was like he had a remote control that sent me into a lusty frenzy at the touch of a button."

Breathless is just the beginning of Jesse and Niki......the book has thoroughly laid out Jesse's life and why he has taken this path of destruction that has nearly destroyed him and people around him. We also are given insight to Niki's past which has made her who she is and the decisions she has made. We are left at the end of this book with Niki and Jesse trying to take steps toward understanding each other.......but their is so many more twist and turns that have us left wanting to know what happens next in "Fearless".

Awesome Job Eve Carter!!!

Cute story - Might have to go into my sports folder - maybe next book - there is mention that Jesse is a motocross rider - even rode in the super-cross - I LOVE that sport! But they didn't have him race, or even think back to his accident :( BUT hopefully he'll be able to race in the next book :)

little bit of a cliffhanger at the end, but it's not too bad - the ending is really good though - it doesn't leave you wanting to through your e-reader out the window, but it leaves you with a few questions :)

This story is told from both Nikki and Jesse's POV - Nikki is a girl going through her unhappy stage - she's ready to grow up and live her own life, and come out of her daddy's shell - but stuck in collage doing what he wants her to do, dating a guy that he wants her to date - she's not happy.
But after finally breaking loose and moving into an apartment with her BFF Kat - Nikki is ready to live a little of her own life.

Jesse is going through some rough times. his whole career as a motocross rider is down the drain. If he can't get his hand to cooperate anymore, he can call himself a washout -
Living in booze, drugs and women in order to numb the void of riding in his life.
His brother kicks him out and he heads to California to help his Uncle out at his new bar.

When Jesse gets to the bar he meets Chase - Chase is a great guy - You'll really like him. He's a hard worker and all around great guy.
Taking Jesse under his wing, Chase brings Jesse to the V-Lounge where all his friends are headed to hang out.

Kat see's Chase first and runs over and introduces herself to Jesse - Kat is immediately taken with Jesse, and Jesse is interested in Kat's type. Easy and drunk -

When Kat brings Jesse over to meet her BFF Nikki - Jesse isn't prepared for the reaction his body takes to seeing her sitting there.
All of a sudden, the Easy and Drunk doesn't seem like so much fun anymore. But that one - THAT is what he wants.

Everyone knows Nikki isn't the type for a one night stand, so after being warned off many times by Chase, Jesse decides maybe it's time to make some changes in his life.

Really cute story - it was fast paced and sweet - these two had a great chemistry and I liked that they were able to take things slow.

I just really didn't like this book. I didn't like the characters. I am all for a bad boy as the hero of the book. However, we first see this guy he is getting drunk and high and seems to have no morals at all (which is ok, if we can get away from that and move on. Our guy really doesn't). He starts off the book in a dirty one night stand. Just not a good image to start with. He has a temper as we can see throughout the book and he is just down on his luck. He heads across country to turn over a new leaf. One night while out with a friend he meets our leading lady. I am calling her a lady, only because that is what she is referred to in the book. She is not really lady like at all in my opinion. However, she is not really a bad character. I didn't mind her that much, at least not as much as her best friend.

Once Jesse (our drunk/druggie bad boy) sees Niki (our leading lady who isn't really a lady), he knows he wants her and is now willing to get his crap together. Just like that. Niki can't make up her mind what she wants in life. She is trying to please her Daddy, but doesn't care about money and just wants to be artistic and have freedom (although in one scene she is a little worried Daddy may cut her off). Easy to be nonchalant about getting a good job and having money in the future when Daddy is footing the bill. She goes back and forth on whether she should be with Jesse or not, we don't see a whole lot of growth in the relationship. She runs from him twice, when he loses his temper. The second time this happens is completely ridiculous! She is being screamed at by some jerk calling her names and when the bad boy jumps in and punches the guy once(to teach him a lesson on how to treat a lady, and the guy TOTALLY deserved it) she runs away. Since she runs away, he gives up and decides to move back home. Nothing more there for him since things aren't working between them. Just for the record, he has a home, a good job, and family in this town. But he is going to give it all up and move back because she won't have him.

This book simply didn't work for me. I found myself annoyed by some of the characters and somewhat repulsed by others.

Received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This one hovered around a 3.5 star for me.

I was a little worried at the start of this one, knowing that Niki and Jesse were going to be the leads - but it taking a bit to get them in the same room (let alone the same state). I love the jerk-face assholes the best and Jesse is definitely staking his claim in this role.

I liked both Niki and Jesse but felt like we barely scratched the surface of some major underlining issues - I hope some of these come into play in the next book. Knowing that there was something else there but not getting more than a fleeting glance at it held me back from fully connecting with them. But I am looking forward to learning about the past of these two and what really was behind her zoning out at the bonfire and will come with the news that rocked Jesse at the end of this one.

I was glad once the focus turned to the two of them, I was ready to claw out Kay's eyes during her non-stop throwing herself moments. Do us girls really behave that way when we flirt? Jesse seemed to blow off the handle pretty easily - but he showed the patience of a saint dealing with her!

Even though this one left you with a cliffhanger - the suspense is related to drama outside of the two character's love interest so you at least don't get left wondering how they are doing. But there is sure some major crap that will hit the fan in the next book. If you like your bad boys all sorts of messed up and reckless then you need to meet Jesse.

Jesse makes your blood boil - err and your panties drop. Haha! Review writing in process!

Jesse is one dirty, scandalous man!
He is drowning his sorrows in booze and women. Mostly women in bar parking lots with lots of dirty sex!
Well guess what- life change time.
His brother told him to get his shit together and head out West to Cali- live with uncle and help out awhile.
Jesse is free falling and needs to get off this track.
He is biding his time until his injuries heal and he can race again. If the injuries ever heal and he can! This is the one thing that he does not want to think about. Hence the booze and women!

"Hell, he nearly fucked you with his eyes just now."

Niki is a good girl. She has always done what is expected.. Dates who she is suppose too.. College, life choices. It's all mapped out.
Mmmmmm well she is taking some time off. She wants other things and guess what.. She is going to get them.

"Follow your heart. The past is history and tomorrow, well tomorrow is just a mystery.""

Her and Jesse meet thru a mutual friend. Instant attraction, she is hesitant. She sees him as a player, he sees her differently. This is huge for Jesse. Niki makes him wants things he has never wanted. Relationship builds and sparks fly! Wow! Sexy chemistry and sexual tension.
Things turn quickly. Crazy happens and then whirlwind with a ending that makes you want more. This was fun read with lots of sexy sexy. A great bad boy with attitude and a few twists. Kudos! ❤
