Weston was unfortunately a miss with me. I blamed the lack of connection initially on this being the second book in a series. I obviously missed how Janie and Kage came to be, along with Tony’s first encounter with Rocki. I hoped after a few chapters I would be engrossed and ready for a great ride. Not the case.

The sex scenes were hot, but the dialogue had me laughing when it didn’t mean to be funny. Rocki’s mom pointing out how sexy Tony is after being kidnapped, and almost shot. Seriously!? Romantic “look into my eyes” moments taking place while confronting a violent drug lord. Really? So much time spent between the sheets when they are being hunted by a violent and vengeful bad guy. I couldn’t take the plot or characters seriously. The dialogue felt forced. Like it was trying really hard to be young/hip. Sexing. Shiggles. I thought I was reading my teenage son's texts.

I thought Rocki would be a strong, kick ass character. She is a cop trying to take down a key player in her community’s drug problem. Once she became Tony’s “woman” she lost any individuality and became a cookie cutter romance novel damsel in distress. Tony didn’t do it for me. It was like he passed Alpha male and went straight to caveman. Not sexy. Just annoying.

The secondary characters were my biggest issue. The guys really didn’t say much so I am impartial to them, but Sabrina was just too much. Her dialogue. Her actions. Her stalkerish obsession with Garrett. I found myself skipping any scene in which she was present. I truly hope the author decides to tone her down if/when it is her turn to play leading lady. Janie was so angry which seemed to be intended to give her an edge. I just didn’t get it.

The whodunit part of the plot was predictable. No real suspense. I figured out how it would play out very quickly.

I’m sure others will eat this book up, but for me this wasn’t a fit.

This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

3 1/2 stars

Rocki Bangli is an undercover cop who has gotten deep in the world of Darrell Archer and his underground. It's not somewhere she would be by choice if she wasn't determined to bring him down for his illegal businesses. Tony Weston is all too familiar with Darrell, being best friends with his nephew who refuses to get sucked in with his uncle, as well as a private investigator, he understands the man is bad news. What he can't understand is why a known cop has gotten in league with him and is lying about who she is. That all comes clear when Rocki's cover is blown and she finds herself in Archer's cross hairs and needing Tony's protection.

Weston is the second addition in the Hard Body series. While the first book, Archer, was a 5 star book for me, Weston didn't grab me nearly as much. The big difference being the characters and lack of attachment I felt for them in this one. Really, that's no fault of the author or story, just my preferences and tastes as a reader. Still I have to give it 3 1/2 stars because I enjoyed the action and characters even if I wasn't in love with them. The boys of Beaumont Body Shop are hot as ever in this installment though, and continue the action I'm becoming accustomed to in the series. The action and suspense is well written and the style is such that the pages fly by without realizing it. Rocki was a strong female that even though she needed help, wasn't going down without a fight. Tony was sexy and completely a take charge character. The both had chemistry that came through the pages and made them a great couple. I'm very anxious to get the rest of the guy's stories and continue the series.

I received this as an ARC from netgalley and realized there was one in the series before this. I know I didn't have to read it, but I'm so glad I did. Not only was Archer awesome, it set up some of this book. Again, this book is a perfectly good stand alone, but you really do have a better feeling and understanding for some of the larger situations and characters if you read this.

I love Kayn's writing style and her alpha males. I also like the importance of friendships and I'm so excited to see what's up with Lance in and the mysterious woman and also Garrett and Sab's story.

Excellent series!

I have no idea what to make of this book. I found myself at loss of words for the first time after a long time. I don't know how to rate it, what to say or how I felt about the book.

Tony was nice. He was as protective and possessive as someone would like a man to be in reality. I wouldn't mind having a Tony. He is not the man who is going to embarrass you because you are talking to another man. Rocki wasn't bad herself.

The story was good. For me the book ended before I had a chance to sink deep into the book although I got very interesting their friend's situation.

Not as spicy as her MC books, but still quite sexy since Weston is quite the alpha guy. I like how Tony and Rocki loved each other, leaned on each other, and learned from each other. I definitely would read books one and two in this series close together since how Weston and Rocki met (in Archer, the first book in this series) is pretty important to this story.

Looking forward to the next book in the series, but my favorite series by far by Kayn is the Bantorus one. If you haven't read any of those books, you are definitely missing out.

Thanks for reading!

My rating: 4 of 5 ⭐️

Infiltrating deeper than anyone has before, detective Rocki Bangli is hoping to wrap up her undercover investigation into casino operator and crime lord, Darrel Archer sooner rather than later. When she is ordered out out on a job for him, with instructions to use whatever 'favors' necessary to gain information, she is surprised to find her targets the men from the Beaumont Body shop. Not only a car detailed but also the front of a private investigation company. One of the targets is Kane Archer, nephew of Darrel, with whose girlfriend she had a run in not too long ago. Another is the delicious blond tall and hot drink, Tony Weston, who doesn't waste any time claiming her attention.

What are the odds that the woman who has featured in every lusty dream over the past year, is standing right before him. The fact that she doesn't remember him from the police academy, or that just about everything out of her mouth is a lie, doesn't bother Tony Weston in the least. Whatever it is she is doing, whatever trouble she is in, he is determined to find out. He has waited long enough for an opportunity to make his move and now that she has fallen in his lap, he is not about to let Rocki walk off.

When Rocki finds her cover with Darrel blown and unsure where the leak originated, she finds herself seeking out Tony. She knows if anyone has the connections and expertise to help, it would be him. Besides, she trusts him, she has little choice. Toni takes immediate measures to ensure her safety and the safety of her family. He is keeping Rocki close by his side, in fact, before long they are heating up his sheets. But they are quickly reminded they can't lose focus and will need to pool all their resources to make sure they get out of this unscathed......

*******

Another thrilling read by Debra Kayn, full of exciting action and hot bedroom activities!!

I loved Tony!! Not just his looks (sounds like Charlie Hunnammmmmmm), but the way he handled Rocki. A guy who apparently has plenty of patience, given that he has waited around for his opportunity for a year. Someone who is protective of his 'woman' without taking every choice away from her or making her feel inadequate, not that that would have gone over very well! He stays calm, he has faith in Rocki's abilities and her judgement and at the same time is able to quietly convince her when his is the better option. Yup!! I wouldn't mind me a Tony of my own!!!

Rocki is a scrapper, working doggedly to get ahead in what can still be considered a men's world. She only has her mother left and carries the troubles of the world on her shoulders to protect her mom. She doesn't like handing off control, but she finds herself actually enjoying Tony taking charge at times. She wants to be respected for the work that she does, in that, she wants to be treated as the professional that she is. Tony allows her to lean on him, he protects her, but he never underestimates her capabilities. Rocki knows how to take care of herself.

Great hook back to ARCHER, Hard Bodies first book, including the same basic group of characters and allowing the story to play against the same back history, allowing these individual stories to loosely link together. WESTON can be read as a standalone, however, for the full experience I would strongly suggest you also read ARCHER, if you haven't already.

Debra's Hard Body Series is shaping up to quite the series! And I can't wait to see who of the Beaumont Body Shop crew is next to "bite the bullet"!!!

✨A spunky, seductive and action-filled read!!✨

Weston (Hard Body #2) by Debra Kayn
Three Stars
*ARC from publisher for an honest opinion.
Detective Rocki Bangli is working undercover in an attempt to bring down crime lord Darrell. Darrell instructs her to go to a local bar and play pool. He gives her very specific directions about what she needs to do. While she is at the bar playing pool she runs into Tony Weston. Tony, along with some close friends, is a mechanic/private investigator. After Rocki’s cover is blown, her life is in danger and Tony swears to protect her.
I went back and forth with a two or three star rating for this book. There were some parts that I thought were fantastic and other parts that I think suffered. Fantastic: Tony Weston. He is your typical alpha-butt-kicking-no-one lays a hand on my women –kind of man. He was intense and seductive, sweet and vulnerable all wrapped up into one man. I understood and liked Tony, but the one part that really got to me was his intense and immediate desire to protect and involve himself with Rocki. Apparently they had met in the previous book, Archer (Hard Body #1) when she had an interaction with Kage Archer and his girlfriend, Janie Beaumont. He also recognized her from when he was in the policy academy. Since these meetings he has spent a year thinking about her and fantasying about her.
I had a harder time with Rocki… Whereas she is a tough detective trying to bring down crime lord Darrell (who also happens to be Kage’s uncle) she also falls apart quite frequently throughout the story. She basically hides out in Tony’s home once her cover is blown. I thought Detective Gino Marcelli brought a very interesting mix to the story. I don’t want to give anything away but he definitely added more to the intrigue behind Darrell.
I didn’t understand that the hostility that Jane and her friend Sabrina had towards Rocki. Yes, at first they think she is working for Darrell but then they discover that she is an undercover detective and they continue to give her a hard time until Rocki tells them about her relationship with Tony. Then all of the sudden they decide that they are going to have a girl’s night out… This was a tough one… Rocki’s life is basically in danger and she heads out for a girl’s night out…Ironically they end up at the Crystal Palace… which is where Darrell and his men are??!! What? I didn’t get that at all? Tony puts a security system at his home to keep her protected, he calls in his fellow private investigators to provide security, his parents take her mom to Hawaii to keep her safe and Rocki thinks it would be great to head out for some drinks???!!
Ok, what I liked… I though Tony’s parents were hilarious! At the beginning of the story when Tony is filling them in about the danger that Rocki has surrounding her and those around her, the father goes to make a phone call and Tony flips out. His father says,” son, its just pizza”. I thought this was a great comedic relief. They provided light moments throughout the story. Another part I loved was Kage! He is a very interesting character and I loved the bond that he had with Tony. The rest of Tony’s friends reflected the strong bond that the guys had. They own the Beaumont Body shop where they work on cars and they are also private investigators (another confusing part). I thought this was a stretch. Despite some confusing moments, I have to honestly say that I enjoyed the tension that Detective Gino brought into the story more than anything else. Kage does find out some family history but the conflict of the story really surrounds Detective Gino. Overall, I would still recommend this story because it is an enjoyable read and I added Archer to my read list! I think that it will give me some insight to what I read about in Weston.

Review:

I love Debra's alpha males and the girls who get to claim them, to me that is what make her books so enjoyable and I make sure to get them whenever they come out and thank goodness for NetGalley.

This is book number 2 in the Hard Body series, and even though they do not need to be read in order, I highly recommend it for sheer enjoyment of the read and there are little nuances that better when read together or in order.

In this book, we again, meet Rocki who was seen in book one as she was working undercover to get information on Kage's criminal uncle. Come to find out, Tony knows exactly who Rocki really is and has been jonesing for her for a year. Then Darrell sends Rocki into spy on the Hard Body gang and tells her basically to get info on them anyway she has to. Tony knowing who Rocki really is sees this as his chance with her. Once Rocki finds out that Darrell has known who she was from the beginning, she runs and Tony finds her and vows to protect her. Little does Rocki realize the person she thought she could trust is not who they seem. As Rocki and Tony go about protecting her and her Mom and sending a trusted friend to jail, they fall for each other hard!

I really enjoy Debra's writing style and her characters, they are realistic and those Hard Body men are damn sexy, alpha males. The intimate scenes were super hot and well done. I was hooked on this story and did not put it down until I was finished and I cannot wait for the next story in the series, which we get a little of glimpse of what is to come at the end of this story.

Weston was a fun little romantic suspense that so has me wanting to read more from Kayn. The quick of it is that undercover cop Rocki has been sent by her drug lord boss to spy on a group of men at a bar. Things seem a little fishy and soon her undercover gig has gone south and she's in need of help from those very men she was spying on--more specifically Tony Weston who from the very start knew exactly who she was and that she was a cop and has been lusting after her for months on end. Ahhh so good.

I really enjoyed this one. It's a very fast read but a nice taste of the world Kayn created. The characters are fun and solid people that are fiery, determined, honorable and just sexy as hell. There's a good bit of humor as Tony and Rocki work to bring down not only the crime boss she'd been gathering intel on but a traitor on team good guys as well.

And as all those dangers mount from every corner and the two have to rely on each other lust and love sneak up on them before they realize. These two were great together. They're both extremely capable, work nicely together and seem to get each other. Add in some teasing and some steam and it was just a nice bit of romance.
Tony carried her into the bathroom and put her in the bathtub. She sank to her shoulders into the water and closed her eyes. He stood ogling and thinking how beautiful and irresistible he found her.

"No bubbles?" She peeked up at him before closing her eyes again.

Shit. Girls like bubbles. Right. I can do bubbles.

He scoured the bathroom cabinets, and the only thing he could find was a half-empty bottle of Brute's flea and tick shampoo. He held the container toward the light, squinting at the writing on the side of the bottle when soft laughter drew his attention back to Rocki.

"I don't think so," she said.

He frowned. "It's nontoxic."

She laughed, and he threw the bottle into the sink. Without thinking, he shucked off his clothes. He might not be able to give her bubbles and candlelight, but he'd give her his attention.

Rocki's eyes came open when he stepped into the water. He grinned at the look of shock replaced by curiosity.
All in all, Weston was a fun read that I devoured in one sitting. Love, danger and awesome characters just pulled me right into the world of Tony and Rocki and made for one entertaining read that has me excited to see what else Kayn can do.

This book was undeniably better than the first...By a mile.

After reading the first, I was skeptical, I only gave it 2 stars and from my comments, it was lucky it got that.

However, having said that, when I got into the thick of this book, I was thoroughly entertained with the action, drama and overall baddassery (new word created just for this book.)

The spelling and grammar was brilliant; clear and concise - thank heavens for that, I can't stand poorly edited books. The plot moved along pretty quickly, there was a good level of romance, and angst, it was pretty intense. The fucking, as with all Debra Kayn books, was outstanding. I thank her every time I read her books and she doesn't describe a 10 inch, veined, monster tentacle in place of a guys dick (like I'm forced to read in some other books) - that was crude, even by my standards.

description

The characters in this book were likable, specifically Weston...There is not a woman on earth who wouldn't melt into a puddle at his gorgeous feet (I don't have a thing for feet, it's just that if the rest of him is gorgeous, one would have to assume they are too...Oops, tangent.)

In this book Rocki goes against everything she thinks she knows, fights who she's worked for and takes an alliance with the bad guys for a 1 time deal in a bid to save Weston's and her own ass after she's caught while undercover with a drug dealer.... Shit really hits the fan from there...

description

Now, since I can't say more without giving the whole book away, I'll leave you with my favourite part of the book: What I think his dog looks like - he was easily my favourite thing about the book:

Weston by Debra Kayn

Rocki Bangli is undercover in Darrell Archer’s operation. She knows she is close to getting what she needs to put him away a long time. Darrell charges her with getting close to members of Beaumont Body Shop, a car detailer and private investigation agency. She meets Tony Weston while playing pool and feels like she is home free. What she doesn’t realize is that Tony recognizes her from the police academy. Rocki has been in his dreams since that day he saw her the first time, he doesn’t care that she must be on an undercover assignment; he isn’t going to let her get away.
Rocki is used to being along and trying to keep those she cares about safe. The months undercover have been hard but she sees it as a necessary evil to her goal of becoming lead detective. The stress is heavy on her, and it made me smile that she who she was able to let her guard down with was Tony’s dog. Once Tony and the guys from Beaumont Body Shop decided they needed to protect Rocki she sort of took a step back and let them call the shots; she sort of lost some of her spunk. Tony is like the other guys from the agency; he is an alpha but has such the sweet tendencies. He lost his heart to Rocki long before she ever met him; which was evidenced by the fact that he got very upset anytime she called him by his lastname.
This book was extremely fast paced, and at times I had to reread a few pages when I picked the book back up; so I read in large blocks of time. We get to see characters we met during the first book, Archer, but there is some backstory given if you are reading this as a standalone. The plot is separate from the first book in the series, but does continue some storylines from that book – which will be continued in the third book in the series. I have a guess at the main character of the series but I have seen nothing confirmed on Debra Kayn’s website. It doesn’t matter, I am a Beaumount Body Shop and private investigation series fan. I will read them all.
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review.

Now, I love Debra and all her books but this one just stole me away I loved Tony Weston, actually I love this series. Weston doesn't even know Rocki and he wants to protect her right off, "you realize there are four people here who can protect you," he said. "If you're in trouble or need someone to help you get away from Darrell, we can help. We've done it before." He's a jealous type even though she's only giving his dog attention, "sweetheart, I like how you're enjoying my dog, but I want you paying attention to me." I mean seriously he is really jealous about his dog getting more attention than him, "yeah, sweetheart. I'll give you that. You're making this hell on me by asking me to wait to have a taste of you and trying to distract what we came back here to do," he said, pushing her to tell him what the hell was going on. "But as much as I love Brute and think it's cute that you have no problem loving up on my dog, Brute's not the one asking you to come in the bedroom. I am." Weston his breaking his house rules so Rocki can have comfort in her situation, "yet he let Brute lie beside Rocki. She obviously wanted and needed his dog's company. For how much he wanted her curled around him, taking his comfort, his safety, his warmth, he wouldn't deny her the simple act of liking his dog." Rocki, she knows how to stop a man in his track, "he stopped. "No s***? You're naked under the shorts?" He has this thing about his woman calling him by his last name, "I told you what would happened if you continued calling me by my last name. I don't get why you can't call me Tony. We're having sex. I'm not Weston to you. The guys in there, sure, but not to you." I can't wait to see whose next in the series.

I enjoyed a lot the story. I am glad that the action centered on Archer family dynamics has moved to a different level in this book even though can be as stand alone.

Now Rocki must trust Tony with her secrets, her mission, and her life-or it could be the end for both of them.

I liked Tony, not as much as Archer but he was hot and sweet enough in my book. I loved his loyalty for Kage and his friends and protectiveness towards Rocki.
When Rocki was sent by Kage's uncle, Darrel Archer, to spy on the Beaumont guys it was a perfect set up for Tony to finally get his dream girl. Rocki had not idea what he is getting into or who went she went undercover. In the process she found love, friends and uncovered a bad guy in the police force. What more for a girl to do in a days work?
Great story, not as much suspense as the first one but the ending got me curious about Lance and I have no idea when the story is out.

Ah Weston! If you read book one in the Hard Body series you might remember Rocki Bangli. If not you get a refresher of where you saw her before in this book. Rocki has been working undercover to get the goods on Darrell Archer who is Kage Archer from book one's bad guy uncle. Whew!! Follow that? I don't think it was too hard, right? Rocki is told to meet with the guys at pool table 3 at a local pub and who walks in but the Beaumont body shop boys including Tony Weston. She's to go home with whichever guy talks to her and Tony's that man. Tony knows who Rocki is but every word out of her mouth is a lie when he meets her. As a private investigator he knows things and he's seen her at the local police academy. He's been in serious lust of her since he laid eyes on her and now here she is. Is she a cop undercover or has she gone bad. Her cover gets blown right after and her life is on the line along with her mom and Tony and the other guys. She's tough but it might be one of those times to let the someone help her out. Rocki is tough as nails but even tough girls have limits and when her mentor seems like he's gone bad and set her up that's it. A action packed thrill zone, something is always happening in this book. Tony will grab your heartstrings in no time as he tries to protect both Rocki and his best friend Kage. I can't wait to see which one of the Beaumont body shop boys is next!

Weston was another enjoyable read penned by Debra Kayn. I liked the bits of suspense and twists that Debra weaved into this story. It does make me wonder, though, if Darell Archer will ever be put behind bars. It just seems like he's always getting away.

Tony (Weston) and Rocki were both likeable characters and I enjoyed the intense attraction between them. One minor issue of mine was that I felt that their relationship progressed rather quickly and thus, it felt a bit rushed to me. They only knew each other for only four days meaning they're practically strangers. Yet, Tony was already coming to conclusions about loving Rocki. I am not really a fan of insta-love or insta-lust for that matter so I had a bit of an issue with this, but it wasn't anything huge that made me want to throw down the book. I also adored the secondary characters and hope Garrett and Lance will also get their own stories. The pacing of the story was good and the plot wasn't anything too heavy so it made for a nice afternoon read.

In the end, I liked Weston overall and would recommend romance readers to pick up this book. I think fans of Archer will take an immediate liking to Weston as well. These men are just impossible not to like!

This book picks up about two months after Archer, the first book in the series. We get to see what makes Tony Weston tick in this book and what makes him tick is Rocki, the undercover detective that has been working for Darrell Archer. If you don't remember who that is, he's the uncle of Weston's best friend, Kage. Oh, and he happens to be a big time drug lord and all around bad guy. When Rocki gets into trouble she runs straight to Weston for help. Along with the rest of the guys from Beaumont Body Shop they get her out of trouble and figure out how to keep her alive.

I really like the guys from the body shop and have been looking forward to this book. My only issue is I don't understand why the women never listen and end up in TSTL moments. It drives me nuts. I guess we couldn't have the alpha men drag them to safety if they listened. There was plenty action and lots of hot lovin' and even a few funny moments. Recommend this series, but be sure to read in order.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I received this book through Goodeads.
It was a fairly easy read that went quickly--perfect for summer. The plot was exciting and followed the lines I expected it would. Rocki is an undercover detective trying to get information on the criminal Darrel Archer. Tony is a private investigator who has had the "hots" for Rocki for over a year. When Rocki gets in trouble with Darrel, Tony and the garage crew are there to help her out.
I thought the sexual involvement happened way too quickly between Rocki and Tony. If they weren't out trying to keep Rocki and her mother safe from Darrel, they seemed to be in bed. I would have liked to see a bit more storyline development. I was also surprised that if the guys say Rocki is okay, then she is immediately accepted by their girlfriends.
I realize this is a second book in a series. I am curious enough to get the first one through our public library. I can see where more books can be written dealing with the different men in the garage--will Garret and Sabrina get together???

Weston is a love story between Rocki and Tony in the middle of an investigation, undercover work that leads to danger. Weston is a good story with lots of action and suspense.

Detective Rocki Bangli is working undercover as a personal assistant to crime lord Darrell Archer when she is sent to a pool hall and told to play pool with at table 3 and go home with any guy that asks her. Tony Weston is a PI and part owner of Beaumont Auto Shop with the three other friends.

She goes home with Tony when he asks and from then on her undercover assignment goes down the tubes. Darrell announces he knows her true identify and where her mother lives, she escapes and runs back to Tony's house. From that point forward, bullets fly, she makes new friends, sends her mom out of state with Tony's parents, finds out her mentor on the force is a drug dealing dirty cop and romance becomes hot and steamy and very sweet with Weston. Weston is a super cool alpha in a story that is non-stop action too.

I want to thank Goodreads First Reads Giveaway and Debra Kayn, author for the copy of Weston ~ A Hard Body Novel ~ Book 2 that my mom won in the Giveaway and shared with me.
