Hard work is rewarded with more hard work. Heroism is rewarded with a forcible job reassignment.

After defeating the Claw, Never, a rare intuitive Were with a taste for violent justice, finds herself investigating the shady government known as the Magikai. The organization’s leader, Amun, is raising her suspicions at every turn. Luckily, she has the perfect excuse to snoop: she’s been compelled to come to the Magikai’s headquarters to train her intuitive protégé, Ever.

Never quickly realizes not everything is what she thought. Magicals she mistrusted might be innocent, and some she had pegged as bad might be worse. Add to that the unexpected presence of her dragon mate Nahum, and things get complicated fast.

When the job becomes too big to handle alone, can the fiercely independent Never put her trust in the right people to protect the magical world, or will her insecurities lead to everyone’s downfall?

This author.. a MUST READ. This is book three in a trilogy and only this author could outdo book two! No spoilers but this series and characters are definitely VERY worth it!

I received this ARC for an honest review, all thoughts/opinions above are my own!

Never is snarky. Never is kickass.
An intuitive Were is a rare being and for years Never worked mostly alone, holding onto her baggage and keeping people away. Now after finally dealing with the toxic ex she'd been procrastinating about, she sets her sights on the supernatural government, the Magikai. There is something rotten there, she just knows it. Having been compelled to train her protege in their training facility, she figures it is the perfect opportunity to dig deeper into their goings on.
What she uncovers is more corrupt and bigger than she imagined and now she is determined to pull the corruption down around their ears. This isn't something she can do alone, so it's a good thing she finally opened up enough to admit others into her life. Maybe she does finally understand the power of a good hug.
Never's arc has been great to follow, though to be honest her tendency to procrastinate was a little frustrating at times, despite the fact it likely makes her more relatable. Her snark jumps off the page and Reames' style draws the reader in, with the reader at times being addressed directly. This is in no was disruptive to the reading flow, and a feature I quite enjoyed.
The character's put alongside Never act as a group of perfect foils. They balance Never out, complementing her strengths. They draw out the best in her and allow her to grow and become better.
The journey with Never from her first tracking down the Were who would become her protege, through confronting her past, dealing the her ex, finding a partner who understands and empowers her, and surrounding herself with friends, was well worth it.
Do yourself a favour and go meet Never and her crew.

Please note I received this as an ARC for the purposes of an honest review.

Never Ever have I.... I'm joking but how clever is this title??? There IS a Never (FMC) there IS an Ever(Nadia), a character who's just like Never, magically that is and she's cool too! I love Never, I love how she gets herself into all sorts of....ummm.... situations, and how she gets out of them. With her penchant for violence one might think she's unhinged but after what she went through, what she lived through as a captive, heck, she's a kitten! And golly am I ultra intrigued by the Bone Reader! The delicious delivery of this author, has him and his side kick Visitor, shrouded in more layers than a portion of Mille-Fueille! He knows too much, he sees too much but can Never SEE see him? Heck no! He's like a liquid that metamorphosises constantly, ebbing and flowing so she can't get a "read" on what he is, nevermind what he looks like. And that's her speciality, being able to see/feel emotions, to discern truth from lie, an Intuitive, a very rare magical being. She thought she was the only one until she met Nadia, now there be 2...

I can't get over how well this author builds her characters, I almost see her as a master potter of clay, shaping, moulding, changing her piece of art into something different, better. Take Brutus for example, he was a serious thorn in Never's side, arrogant, pompous, hells, if he wasn't so huge I'd say he had an inferiority complex and his grudging acceptance of Never turns into fully fledged respect. So much so, I started LIKING him! Abby, who's grown in leaps and bounds, Chrys who is so vibrant, her effervescence splashes over everyone! Never's found family just keeps on growing and my grin does too, Todd, Lynx, Elois, the fabulous once vamp Hugh, plus an entire mansion full of vamps who adore her, yeah, if anyone deserved the love and affection raining down on them, it's Never. Oh lordie does she get herself in all sorts of binds, and she scampers, fights, reasons herself out of them, all by her sheer determination to do good, all by her sheer resoluteness to never be in a compromised love situation. Pfft, the Fates really laughed at that one! Her tug of war within herself over Nahum was realistic, her fear of letting anyone in, of being beholden to them is so palpable but what's that saying? "love makes the world go round" it sure as heck does! I love love LOVE Nahum, he's so patient and caring and giving, he's as deadly as an adder but he's an all round sweetheart who just adores Never.

So, not only is the relationship thing an issue for Never, so too is the Magika, who's head representative, Amun stinks of corruption and greed. Oh boy, the action, the drama surrounding this exploration of who is and who isn't corrupt had so many unexpected twists and a heck of a lot of me dry swallowing, all my salvia magically disappeared...Lots of tongue in cheek banter and musings, often comical, keep the theme lighter, balancing out the dramatic tension that permeates, seeping through like a bucket full of holes; excellently done. That ending, OMG, I would have yelled out NOOOOOOO had I not already had the next book lined up.....This book and series is excellently penned, the "different strokes for different folks" rings fresh, vibrant and sheer exhilaration in reading it! What a ride Ms Reames, what a fabulous ride!

Never has finally taken down Damien at a high personal cost. This leaves her now free to train Ever for the Magikai at a place of their choosing, despite her desire not to be around the Magikai. When she winds up in the Arizona desert with Ever, she winds up training more than just Ever and earning the respect of some of the full-time enforcers. At the same time, Nahum is now being recruited to be a representative of the Magikai as well. Figuring this is their chance to find out what Amun is up to, Never and Nahum work together to infiltrate the shady organization and find out what is really going on. But what they find is more despicable than Never could have imagined.
Never is developing quite the following in this book. She manages to bring a few more people into her group of trusted friends. But don't be fooled, she still manages to make double that number or more mad! She is willing to do whatever it takes to stop Amun, esp once she figures out what he is really doing. She will even make a deal or 2 with the Bone Reader if that is what it takes. Nahum is really starting to step up as well. He inserts himself with the Magikai to try to get intel on Amun as well. I am starting to love the Bone Reader and his enigmatic ways, and I can't wait to figure out what exactly is going to happen on Halloween that is worthy of making a deal with Never.
This book had quite a bit going on! Never and the gang never have a dull moment. Whether she is training enforcers, sneaking around looking for intel, plotting with her vampires or battling her enemies, this book will definitely keep your attention. I will also say that I was surprised with the emotions I ended up feeling in this book! I was definitely crushed by a certain part of this book. I thought the ending was perfect to this arc and again I cannot wait to find out what the Bone Reader has in store for her next!

Never is a were, not a typical shifter but one that looks like a wolfman (wolfwoman) from the movies. Along with regular shifters, witches, a dragon, pixies, and a multitude of other supernatural creatures and magic she sets out to investigate the Magikai.
Forced to go to the Magikai’s training grounds in Arizona under the order of Amun, the Magikai’s leader, Never finds a poor training regime and suspicious activities.
While Nahum, her dragon mate, checking out the business end of the Magikai, Never and her friends start with the enforcers.
This book has a lot of action, some mystery, a lot of magic, humour (I love how Never comments to the readers with some explanations) and is basically non-stop from the start.
Aggie the stripper witch (she strips powers from magical beings) can be so naïve and her comments have a habit of being able to be taken two ways, of course Never and friends always take them in the way to make Aggie blush. She is just one of the wonderful characters in these books. The character interactions are just so normal for friends.
Never has gone from a lone enforcer to someone with a large family of people that are willing to go along with her to help.
This is a great book and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Never comes to realize she has a soft spot for those who stick by her and trust in her, who knew she could be a hugger.

4.25 stars. In this third installment, Never seeks to infiltrate the Magikai and discover Amun’s real motives while she is training Ever at the Magikai’s compound. Of course, with her negotiated weekends off, Never sees a lot of her old friends Todd, Lynx, Hugh, Aggie, and Chrys. Of course, the Bone Reader and his shadowy Visitor friend are back, too. And Never is able to spend more time with her new dragon mate, Nahum, to cement their bond.

This one is action-packed. Never is really coming into her own as the leader of the vamps and protector of all supernatural beings. But she’s sometimes immature and often reckless, which gets her into trouble. Regardless, I still loved her.

What I like a lot about this series is that the plots move along very quickly. Issues are addressed in one or two installments, rather than being carried over into the end of the series. And there is little foul language, with sex off-page.

Onto the next one!

Original and Brilliant! ** NO SPOILERS **

Never is on her way home after meeting BR (The Bone Reader) and what a meeting it was!

She managed to evade the Magikai enforcers to go and see him and now she’s worried about a certain Dragon is he angry, happy or something in between?

Never’s commitments catch up to her and she knows she has to train Ever. It’s not all bad it gives her the opportunity to see what Amun is up to. She does enjoy pushing his buttons, surely that much fun must be illegal?

Great addition to the series, the characters and storyline flow so well together, making it a pleasure to read.

Never is back and this time it’s the Magikai that had better watch out as this kick ass were has decided that they need some looking into. After being compelled to take her protégé, Ever to the training facility, Never has the perfect opportunity to snoop around and she discovers all is not as she previously thought it was. Snarky and sassy, our fmc needs help from her shifter and magical friends to take down and deal with the corruption and get to the truth in this captivating and thrilling addition. Fast paced and action filled, this is an incredible series that I am thoroughly enjoying.

I love a strong, sassy heroine. I love a found family knit together on sarcasm and mostly carefully concealed genuine caring. I love a corrupt government that must be taken down storyline. I love a romance that unfolds slowly as characters learn to trust one another. And I loooovveee a secretive, all knowing, fate-stirring character that no one can quite get a handle on making multiple appearances to “assist.” This was a third book that pulled no punches. It sucked me in, made me laugh, tugged my heartstrings and left me hanging… ready for even more. Love this series!!

Once again Silas Reames has hit it out of the park. The third installment of the Shifter Vengeance series is so captivating and action packed that you won’t get able to put it down! I can’t wait for more!

After defeating the claw, Never is tasked with investigating the Magakai . This is the agency that oversees the supernatural and magical world. It is supposed to offer help and keep the humans from being aware they exist. She knows its leader, Amun, is up to no good. With the help of her shifter and magical friends, Never vows to get to the truth.

This has become one of my favorite series and I highly recommend!

just didn’t grab me

I really want to like this world. It has a good back story and characters I like. The writing style just left me unable to connect with the story. I cared enough to make book 3 but no more. If you like the narrative voice you’ll give this a five.

Good Series

I like the character development and the plots. Each book brings satisfying resolution to the arc, without engaging in some of the boring tropes in fantasy land.

I think this is the best book so far. We've got to know the characters now so the book flows at a fantastic pace. Never has many problems to solve but many friends to help her.
Plenty of action and a slow romance. Lots of laughs and innuendos.
I'm truly loving these books and recommend this series to everyone.
