Thrilling

This book is a page turner, the suspense was killing me, I cannot imagine such a horrible situation.

Amanda Stevens is really good with suspense. I couldn't stop reading. The villain was unexpected.
It was a fast read, but very interesting.
I only wish there was an epilogue or few more pages to settle the relationships between MCs..

This was a different book for me. This was a scary book to read.

This story was about a woman named Thora Graham. She is a former FBI analyst. One night in a bar she was drugged and kidnapped. She was taken to a place, hidden underground in a small box coffin. She has only her training to keep her alive. She also relies on a guy named Will Dresden who is a Deputy Chief. Thora’s sister calls Will looking for Thora. Thora through most of the book she is underground and running out of air.

She imagines Will talking to her to keep her calm. I thought that this story was going to be about a serial killer. The person who abducted Thora wasn’t who I thought it was. The ending was alright but I wanted more of a fear factor like scorpions 🦂 or a snake 🐍 in the coffin with Thora. The story wrapped up too quickly for me.

I picked this book up because I've enjoyed a number of Amanda Stevens' books, both single title and category. This book was all right, but not her strongest.

The story certainly takes off in gripping fashion. Former FBI analyst Thora Graham is still finding her way after leaving the Bureau and moving back to her hometown. After a night out, she awakens to find herself buried underground. As Thora is trapped helplessly underground, she has to hope that local authorities can (1) figure out she's missing and (2) find her before she runs out of air.

For the first half of the book, the author does a fabulous job of setting up the search to find Thora. As the focus switches back and forth between Thora and the investigation, we learn that she has a history with Deputy Chief Will Dresden, and there is definitely a hint that there may be some mutual pining going on. If you're the kind of reader who can't handle long separations, this might not be your book because it does take a while for the hero and heroine to appear on page together, what with Thora being buried underground and all.

From a suspense perspective, I enjoyed this book. The small town and its local college contain enough backstabbing and politics to yield a number of possible suspects, and the investigation makes for interesting reading. However, the romance definitely takes something of a backseat to the action. In addition, both the romance and the suspense plot were a bit marred by rather abrupt, whiplash-inducing resolutions. Stevens is a strong writer and this book has its moments, but I'd check out the Graveyard Queen series over this one.

Digging Deeper is another book I got with the ones I paid .49 cents for.

Thora is back in town and not as hidden from the public eye as she would like. Having helped catch a famous kill Thora is now teaching at the local university and ready for a change from her desk job at the FBI. Soon everything changes when Thora wakes up in a coffin and only has a small tube for air.

I have never read a story about a woman being buried alive and I liked the idea too bad it was not planned out well. Clues were all over the place but not enough to point at anyone then the final suspect was so unbelievable I rolled my eyes at it. The writing was fine and easy to follow along to.

The killer was a surprise for me.I didnt expect it at all but book had an abrupt ending.The author didnt share how it was all planned regarding the kidnapping & murder.
Overall,the mystery elements were very nicely put together.

Abrupt ending

I really liked this story until the ending. It is beautifully written. I feel like there should be more closure and more development of the conclusion.
