This is a terrific friends to lovers story. Piper and Ryan have been best friends since she punched him in the nose in third grade. Ryan has had a great career as a rodeo star but now he's ready to move on. He is planning to open a rodeo school there in Royal. He's also ready to show Piper that he wants to be more than just friends. When he gets a concussion in an accident Piper rushes to take care of him. She feels the same attraction but doesn't want to risk a broken heart if he changes his mind about settling down.
Piper has been friends with Ryan for a long time. She's also been feeling a bit more than friendship for him lately but she doesn't want to risk losing that friendship if something goes wrong. When he lets her know that he's feeling the attraction too, she tries to fight it. One of her biggest worries is what will happen if she falls for him and he decides to go back to the rodeo circuit. Her father was a rodeo rider and had never been able to stay in one place for long. He had completely deserted her and her mother when she was still young, leaving her mother heartbroken. Piper fears the same thing happening to her. I really enjoyed seeing Piper's independence and her determination not to be dependent. She does her best to stand up to Ryan when he tries to push her into accepting his help. I love the banter between them and the way that she teases him about his "guyness". I also loved the building heat between them. They were already friends and knew each other well, but the chemistry took things to a new level. I loved seeing Piper relax and begin to accept that just maybe Ryan was serious when he talked about staying. Her fears come back when he leaves to help a friend and it takes a reunion with her father to open her eyes to the differences between the two men.
I really liked Ryan. He didn't hide the fact that he was interested in stepping things up with Piper. I loved his honesty with her when she was taking care of him after his accident. She caught him checking her out and laughed at him because of it, not believing he was serious. He had to work at it a little to convince her. Then he had to exert some patience to keep from rushing her. I really enjoyed seeing him work on her house with her, overcoming her objections by reminding her that friends help each other out. I also loved seeing him slowly overcome her fears and remind her that he was not her father. He was really worried about telling her he was going to go help his old partner for awhile. His worries were justified and his missing her while on the road was causing him some real problems. I loved the conversation with his partner that helped him make some decisions.
The mystery of their missing friend has taken a step toward being solved. Alex turned up at the site of a traffic accident, but with a case of amnesia. His fiancee is with him trying to help but the stress is wearing on them both. There is an interesting scene with Cara's father and Alex's best friend that may have bearing on the mystery, but we'll have to wait and see.
4.5 Star Review – To Tame A Cowboy (Texas Cattleman's Club: The Missing Mogul #5)
I recommend this book.
Texas Cattleman's Club: The Missing Mogul # 5
I enjoyed this book by Jules. This book includes passion, laughs, heartache, pain, and betrayal.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books first from “Texas Cattleman's Club: The Missing Mogul” series. Rumor Has It by Maureen Child Deep in a Texan's Heart by Sara Orwig Something about the Boss by Yvonne Lindsay The Lone Star Cinderella by Maureen Child – Due out in October
Piper Kindred (Red as Ryan calls her) and Ryan Grant first met in grade school when he accused her of lying about knowing about the rodeo and her father being a big name in the rodeo. She in turn punched him in the face. He got up and invited her to hang out and they have been best friends ever since.
Piper is now a paramedic who is called to an accident scene where she recognizes the car involved. While looking for Ryan to verify he is okay she stumbles across a missing friend, Alex Santiago who was also in the accident. He has been missing for months. He does not know who he is or why he was with the others in the accident. After sending him to the hospital she finally tracks down Ryan.
Ryan is a rodeo Cowboy so he is used to getting hurt. She decides no matter what he said she is going to take care of him. So she takes him home to do just that. Ryan is home for good as he retired from the rodeo. With him staying with Piper in such close quarters the sparks are flying. He is determined to get her to see him in a new light as not just her best friend but also a man who wants her. If he has to seduce her then so be it!
When she finally lets down her guard and starts to fall in love will a call from a rodeo buddy to help out shatter the entire relationship?
So much chemistry between these two it might just combust this book… Love the softer side of Ryan that comes out in the book. Red is very confused throughout the book. She should trust a relationship with Ryan as she knows the call of the rodeo is strong and will pull him in again. She compares him to her father who left his family for the rodeo but should she know better?
Look forward to the next books in this series listed below.

Favorite Parts:
Ryan closed the bathroom door and turned around to… Oh for the love… Could he not catch a damn break? First he wasn’t steady on his feet because he’d hit his head, then he’d nearly kissed his best friend and now this? Come on. Lingerie everywhere. Every damn where. Red lace, yellow satin… Bras, thongs, silky-looking nightgowns. Of course she hung this up to dry. And of course laundry day was the day he had to stay with her. Well played, Fate.
When she gripped the armrest on the door and put her foot on the running board, Ryan cupped his hands around her rear end. “Need a spotter?” he asked. Piper glanced over her shoulder to see him squatting, smirking and staring up at her. “Get your hands off my butt, Slick.” “Just trying to help a friend.” His hands remained until she swatted him. “You’re trying to cop a feel, pal.” “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Simply helping you get into the truck.” Piper climbed in, by herself, and stared back at him. “I’ve climbed into this truck, and my own, for years. You’ve never offered to spot me before.” “A guy can’t decide to just help without being ridiculed? I’m hurt.”
This is part of a series but i don't think you need to read the previous books to enjoy this one. For me this is the only one i have read so far. That being said this was a great fast paced read. Ryan Grant befriended Piper Kindred when they were kids in the school yard. Piper's dad was a big rodeo star who eventually abandoned his family and sparked Piper's mistrust of rodeo cowboys. Just so happens in their grown up lives that's just what Ryan became. Now though Ryan is done with the rodeo. He has his own Ranch to run and is opening Rodeo school on it. He's fought his attraction for Piper for years knowing her fears and valuing their friendship. Now he decides it's time to go after what he wants. First he has to get Piper to let down that wall of hurt and believe in him. That's he's there for good now. Piper is tough and learned early on to be that way. She's a paramedic and has seen a lot. While dealing with this different Ryan as a love interest their mutual friend they thought was missing shows up at a accident scene Piper is called to. Problem is he has no memory of who he is or where he's been. This might be the only confusing part of the book if you have not read the other books in this series. I just gathered from what's written what the back story was for this though. There are a couple stories being told here. Ryan and Piper and in the background a couple of their friends as well. If i get a chance i will definitely check out the other books in this series and would enjoy finding out what happens next in the series. This is a fast read. You can finish it in one afternoon and with rainy fall weather that's just what i did.
This book is part of a series, so to have the full picture, I would suggest starting with book 1. That being said, the story between Piper and Ryan is a nice solid read.
Piper and Ryan have been friends for years and Ryan has decided that Piper and he would make a good couple. Piper, on the other hand, doesn't want to ruin the friendship that they've had for so long if the romance doesn't work. It takes some time and patience on Ryan's part to show Piper that love will work between them.
If you are looking for a great Saturday afternoon read, I would definitely pick this one up.
This is the first book I have read by Jules Bennett and I must say I loved it. Ryan and Piper's story is that of a real true love. They have been friends..best friends since grade school and Ryan had decided he wants to take their friendship to the next level. Piper is hesitant, you can feel she really wants it, but her own history has her scared. Jules writing had me pulled in from the beginning and I could feel the emotions through the whole book. I loved the playful flirtations and the stubborn and sassy Piper. Definetly a great read for a lazy Sunday. The only downside was I wished I knew it was part of a series, BUT now I can't wait to read the others.
Another great book by Jules Bennett!! All I can say is To Tame a Cowboy by Jules Bennett is one fantastic book! To Tame a Cowboy is part of the Texas Cattleman's Club series by various authors. Although I haven't read any other book in this series, I can honestly say this book by Jules Bennett is worth reading! This is a story about two people who have been best friends since they were kids at school. Piper Kindred was getting picked on in school and Ryan Grant stuckup for her, hence a friendship was formed. Some 20 years later Piper is a paramedic in Royal,Texas and Ryan who is a rodeo star and who wants to retire buys a ranch in Royal to open a rodeo school for kids. This book is about how a friendship goes from platonic to romantic. You really need to read this book to find out how this happens. I know I wouldn't turn away Ryan, he sounds like one hot cowboy and while Piper is a strong woman she does have some issues concerning her childhood. Throw in a secondary storyline line about a friend Alex who has been missing for 2 months and now turns up with amnesia(which I believe will be another book in this series) how can a person go wrong reading To Tame a Cowboy. A book worth purchasing and reading. Jules Bennett is a very talented author and a person would not be disappointed in reading anything written by her! I received an ARC copy for a honest review!
Piper and Ryan are life long friends who have to decide if taking that next step in their relationship will be a good thing or lead to trouble. Piper is a strong woman who knows what she wants and how she wants it done, but is also playful and endearing at times. Ryan is the hunky cowboy who you can't help but fall in love with! It has the right amount of heat factor that doesn't leave you feeling like there should be more. Jules Bennett does a good job of giving a detailed story without it being too much or too little. She even throws in a little bit of mystery. Definite must read along with the others in this series.
"Great characters matched with real concerns make Bennett's latest an entertaining read. And faithful fans waiting patiently on Alex Santiago's return will be in for a treat!" RT Book Reviews, rated 4 stars Miniseries: Texas Cattleman's Club: The Missing Mogul

One of the best romance tropes is friends to lovers. I fall for it every time, so I enjoyed this short and sassy story centered around Texas towns, ranches and rodeo cowboys.
Piper and Ryan have been best friends since the third grade, but now they are all grown up and have carved out successful, but separate lives. However, Ryan has decided it was time to leave the rodeo circuit and settle down. So, he returns home to Royal, Texas to start a new chapter in his life, not just career wise, but in his personal life too. He’s denied his feelings for Piper long enough, so now he intends to go all in to convince her he is the steady, rock solid sort of man she needs in her life.
When Ryan begins making overtures and suggest they might have a deeper relationship potential, Piper is dead set against it. Why? Well, she certainly doesn’t want to do anything that would jeopardize her friendship with Ryan, but mainly it’s because her own father was a rodeo star and she knows exactly what kind of life that is. Sure, Ryan claims he’s done with the rodeo life, but Piper knows that sense of adventure is in his blood and always will be. That is not the life for her. Can Ryan convince her he’s the real deal or does Piper know Ryan better than he knows himself?
The only area of compliant I had with this book was the side story of Alex and Cara. While there was bit of a mystery involved there, it never was fleshed out. The side story is what lead Piper to Ryan and is how the story got off the ground, but after that, too much time was invested in the storyline and it kind of fizzles out into nothing, which was a bit puzzling.
Ryan totally catches Piper off guard with his blatant sultry stares, but it’s not long before she has to admit Ryan is just the kind of guy she’s always wanted and maybe she’s buried her feelings for him all this time. But, she’s afraid and who can blame her? I thought her feelings were realistic and since she has known Ryan her whole life, she has a pretty good idea what makes him tick. So, it was hard for her to let go of those reservations and take the step forward with Ryan, no matter how badly she wanted to. The couple faced some hard times here and there but they pass the test, even if it was graded of on a bit of a curve. There was a development late in the story that really added a emotional force and will have you smiling through tears. A very nice HEA.
The writing is full of tropes and bluntly states personality traits repeatedly rather than subtly revealing them to the reader. Not a great read, but almost corny enough to make it a cult-classic. I was laughing at it for most of the read through. I can't even recommend this as a good easy read romance because even for a western romance it is overstated and a bit ridiculous. 1 star for making me laugh.
Si bien parece larga a veces, no resulta aburrida.
Bennett no me decepcionó. Recomendadísima a ciegas.
In To Tame A Cowboy by Jules Bennett, Ryan Grant and Piper Kindred have been best friends since the third grade, from the moment she punched him in the nose.
Now Ryan has a great career as a rodeo star, but he needs more and is now ready to move on. He wants to open a rodeo school in Royal, Texas and show Piper that he wants to be more than just friends. Unfortunately, Ryan suffered an accident and got a concussion. Lucky for him, Piper rushes to take care of him while he gets better.
Piper feels the same attraction for Ryan that he fells for her, but she is afraid that he will change his mind and leave her with a broken heart. She is afraid of loosing their friendship, and she knows that rodeo riders are not always able to settle down, the way her father was never able to. Deserting her and her mother, leaving behind a young Piper and her brokenhearted mother.
Piper will try her best to stand up to Ryan as he pushes her to try and help her. Something that she doesn’t really like for she is very independent. But that does not mean that Ryan will give up, no, he will have to work hard to convince her to accept his help to work on her house. And convincing her that he is serious about wanting to make a life with her and not rush her will take a lot of patience on his part.
A friends to lovers story is always sweet to read. There is always the fear of loosing the friend you have, but gaining something deeper than that is always much better as Ryan and Piper will find out.
For a sweet and entertaining romance read, don’t miss To Tame A Cowboy by Jules Bennett.
This is part of a series (Texas Cattleman), but you do not have to read in order as the book can stand on its own. (I have not read the others in the series.) This was a fun and easy read!
I really enjoyed the story, and the friend to lover aspect was handled well and is one of the best I have read in a long time. (Normally I am not a fan of this storyline, but the author handled well.) The heroine Piper is very independent and wants to do things on her own. The hero Ryan made money in the rodeo circuit. However, Piper's father was a famous rodeo rider, and she felt abandoned by him, which creates her fear of taking it a step further with Ryan beyond just friends.
I really enjoyed watching the push and pull of their hesitancy to go to the next level and the increasing sexual tension between them was delectable.
3.1 Stars. Public Library 12/14/14. Friends to lovers story. It's not a long book and it's part of a series so you might want to read the other books first. I read this one as a standalone but quite a bit of time is spent talking about Alex and Cara. All the talk about the other characters and incidents took away from Ryan and Piper. The little bit of drama was disappointing and predictable. The writing isn't bad so I might try some of her other books it was just the drama at the end that seemed silly and forced. I loved the first half of the book their interactions were great. If you're looking for a short friends to lovers story this book is for you.
Ryan and Piper have been best friends ever since she socked him in the nose in elementary school. They've always understood each other. Piper is proud of Ryan's achievements on the rodeo circuit, but she swears never to fall in love with a rodeo cowboy, since her father abandoned her family to become a rodeo star. Ryan is ready to settle down and start a school teaching young kids rodeo skills. He's ready to take the relationship with Piper to the next level, but will it just mess things up or lead to something even better? This cowboy's determined to find the answer!
To tame a cowboy was very cute and definitely worth your time. Ryan and Piper have been friends since they were kids. He becomes a rodeo star and she an EMT. When she arrives at the scene of an accident she sees Ryans car mangled, but can't find him. Once she does and realizes the extent of his injuries she realizes he needs to stay with her while he recuperates. Once there he no longer wants to deny his feelings for her. She is afraid to lose the friendship if it doesn't work out.
Loved this book! It flowed very well. Great easy read. Wonderful story about 2 lifelong friends who become much more. I agree with the other comments, This is the only book I have read in the series and I had no issues with understanding. Happy Reading!
Really enjoyed this one. Almost wanted to dislike Piper the heroine, but in a small way I can understand how she felt................a very small way. Want to say more, but I don't want to give anything away to anyone who hasn't had a chance to read this one yet.
This is the first time reading this author and I really enjoyed it. I really liked Ryan and Piper was fiesty. It was a quick read, but worth taking the time to read. Even though this is part of a series, I don't think you need to read the other books first.
