An exciting conclusion to a running arc that’s covered both South America and Texas. The team has been trying to find and capture the man called Coyote throughout the HQ: Texas series. This time we have Shep Lewis and FBI Agent Lilly Tanner. These two have a history. When she was 17 and he 24, he was her parole officer and she gave him nothing but trouble ending with the burning down of his house and her stealing his car. Now its 10 years later and Shep and the boys are close to finally bringing down a terrorist plot when the FBI sends in an Agent to assist. Shep is not happy when he finds out that the agent is Lilly.
Lilly had a rough childhood and was bounced from foster home to foster home. She was a wildcat that couldn’t be tamed. She also had a huge crush on her PO officer but knew she wasn’t ready to live by the straight and narrow so she stole Shep’s car and left. During the next 10 years she got an education and worked her way up to working for the FBI. Even though she has straightened out her life she still suffers from major abandonment issues and feels bad for what she did to Shep all those years ago.
When these two are forced to work together they realize that the small attraction they had years ago has bloomed into an adult sexual attraction that neither wants to give into. But during their undercover opt and bringing down the bad guys and stopping chemical weapons from entering the US these two face there demons and give into their desires.
I love both the SDDU and HQ Texas series that are inter related and hope that the author continues the SDDU series so we can keep up with what’s happening with these guys.
I recommend this book. I enjoyed this book by Dana. This book includes passion, laughs, heartache, kidnapping, murder, betrayal and a few gun fights.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books first from “HQ: Texas” series. LAST SPY STANDING SPY HARD THE SPY WORE SPURS MOST ELIGIBLE SPY MY SPY
Shep Lewis, an undercover operative, is working a case on tracking smugglers. The team he is on has learned the FBI is sending an agent to help them. When the Agent arrives Shep is stunned. He was Lilly Tanners parole officer years ago. She got him fired after setting his house on fire, stealing his car, and sending emails to him.
This is who the FBI wants them to work with a “delinquent”? He is pissed off. She is hot and he is attracted to her and does not want to be.
Top it off they have to work together as a team and have each other’s back.
Lilly has stayed out of trouble for years. She worked her way up the ranks at the FBI and can protect herself. She does not need Shep but boy does she want him…
Lilly gets a job in the Bar they are staking out singing so she can be there each night and watch the players they think are involved with the case. Shep pretends to be her boyfriend. As they both want the kisses and touches more each time they are running into trouble keeping it impersonal.
When they end up in bed he apologies and she punches him in the face. When the other guys on the team see the bruise they wonder exactly what the hell happened. Which makes working together that much harder.
When Lilly goes missing Shep is beside himself trying to find her before something bad happens. When she calls him to lure him into a trap but gives off clues he knows he needs to save her. He arrives and calls for the backup that is needed but is hit with a dart and is kidnapped too…
Now who is going to save the day? Will they try getting help from the team or have to help themselves? When Lilly lets Shep know the other reason she is in town to check out the team he feels betrayed. Will Shep be able to overcome the betrayal and forgive Lilly for not telling him sooner?
The chemistry between these two is like a fire that burns bright and hot! Lilly is funny and sweet at the same time. I love how she is not afraid to step up and lay a smack down on Shep. Shep is all protective male. Once Lilly lays down the law he better damn well follow!! Dana delivers another winner. Very good read.
Look forward to the next book in this series. Spy In The Saddle – Due out in November 2013 A few of my favorite parts: SHEP LAY NEXT to her, spent and stunned, staring at the ceiling. A part of his world had shattered and he didn’t know how to piece it back together, didn’t know how to process what had just happened between them. It had seemed so right, so easy. Yet now, as sanity returned, he had to seriously reevaluate his actions. He had to take responsibility for the way he’d lost control. “I didn’t come up with this in mind, I swear.” She made some sleepy sounds. “I’m not complaining.” Yet the fact remained that he had come up to her hotel room and made love to her. She’d been tired after work and…confused. He’d taken advantage of her. That was the way Jamie would see it. And Mitch. He winced. He had no idea how to make this right. “Marry me,” he blurted as he looked at her and tried hard not to want her again, tried and failed. His body was stirring already. Insanity. She turned to him, wide-eyed and a lot more awake now, as a succession of emotions crossed her face. “What?” “Jamie and Mitch are going to kill me for this.” Her eyes narrowed. “Did you just ask me to marry you because of Jamie and Mitch?” He looked at her miserably. She sat up in the bed. “Get out,” she bit out the words. “I want you to leave.” He sat up, too. “I should have protected you. Even from myself—” She growled as she punched him.
The familiar voice flooded her with relief. “Shep? I’m stuck in here. Can you help?” “Give me a minute.” He sounded strange, slow and dazed. Was he injured? Maybe they’d beaten him before they’d tossed him in the back of the truck with her. That would explain why he hadn’t responded to her banging before. Maybe he’d been beaten unconscious. “Are you okay?” A moment of silence followed, then, “What are you doing in there?” All the frustration inside her surged to the front. “Getting a pedicure. What do you think?” “Okay,” he said after a minute. “Move away from the lid.” She flattened herself to the bottom of the container and pulled some feedbags on top of her. Was he going to try to shoot the padlock off? She didn’t think Brian and Tank would have let him keep his weapon. They’d certainly taken everything she had. Bang! Then suddenly the lid popped up, and Shep was there, gripping it with one hand while holding a fire extinguisher with the other. He blinked at her slowly, looking out of this world stoned, his irises wide, his movements not altogether coordinated. “When did Brian give you a roofie?” She sat up, grateful to be able to breathe freely at last, every muscle in her body aching. Her clothes stuck to her with sweat, but she was uninjured, miraculously. She climbed out, with his help. “Bull tranquilizer,” he said, his eyes glazed over. “I pulled it out, so I don’t think I got the full dosage.” “Thank God.” The full dosage might have killed him. “Brian slipped me a roofie,” she told him. He scanned her with thunder on his face, reaching for her hands. “Not for that purpose,” she said, to ease his obvious worries. “Just so they could move me around easier.” But his touch felt nice, so she didn’t pull away for a few seconds.
Excellent conclusion to the HQ: Texas trilogy. The team is down to the wire to stop a group of terrorists from coming across the border. They know when, but they still need to know where and they still want the guy in charge. To add insult to injury they are being sent an FBI agent liaison who will make the decision whether to call in the National Guard. The last time Shep saw this particular agent she was eighteen and he was her parole officer. He lost track of her after she stole his car and accidentally set his house on fire. Now they have to work together and try to ignore the attraction sparking between them.
I really liked Lilly. She had a rough start in life ending up in foster care and rebelling from there. By the time she was seventeen she had a juvenile record and Shep was her parole officer. She developed quite a crush on him as he was young, good looking and actually nice to her. She felt bad about taking off the way she did but felt she would do better on her own. Eventually she got an education, became a cop and then entered the FBI, her troubled youth giving her an edge in some cases. When she gets assigned to Shep's team she doesn't know what to expect, so she puts on a tough front and wades in. Lilly is surprised by the way that he still makes her feel but is determined that it won't affect her work. She sees a chance to get in undercover and takes it. She has a quick mind and her early experiences enable her to make some snap decisions. She didn't expect Shep to set himself up as her boyfriend as a way to protect her. That put him a little too close for her comfort especially with that passion burning between them. She was a bit on the independent side and took some chances that didn't work out well a couple times. She also got really frustrated with his protectiveness and called him on it several times though she is glad of his backup later on. I loved seeing the way that she and Shep worked so well together. I really enjoyed the last chapter and the discussion of their future plans.
Shep has been as frustrated as the rest of the team with their inability to catch the man behind the threat. None of them are happy to find out they are going to have FBI oversight. He's even less happy to discover that it's Lilly. She'd still been a kid the last time he saw her but not anymore. She starts right out getting involved with his investigations. He goes into protective mode immediately when they get shot at, before he realizes that she knows what she's doing. He tries to keep her out of his investigation of the bar only to discover that she got there ahead of him and managed to set herself up in an undercover identity. I loved seeing him get all bent out of shape over the people hitting on her until he made it look like she was his girlfriend. It takes him some time but he goes from completely resenting her presence to appreciating the woman she has become and how good she is at what she does. They start to work together very well which really ends up paying off for the team. He also admits that he loves her when he realizes the danger she is in and he could lose her.
I really enjoyed the resolution of the terrorist plot. Seeing the way all the clues build on each other over the three books really shows how involved an investigation like that is. I liked the way this team works together and each has their particular strengths. The intensity that built as the deadline got closer really kept me turning the pages. By the time the final showdown came I couldn't read fast enough to get to the end.
I have to say that I found the title and cover a bit misleading. Shep is not a cowboy and admits that he isn't even much of a rider, Lilly taking the lead when the have to ride double on a horse. In fact, riding only happens once and not even for that long.
When Shep Lewis hears that an FBI agent is going to join their covert government operation by the name of Lilly Tanner, he never thought it could be the same Lilly who about ruined his life just ten years before. But there was no mistaking the woman who walked into their offices and set her eyes on him in obvious recognition. The little hellion was not so little anymore.
Lilly had been eager for this assignment when she spotted Shep's name on the list of operators, she wanted an opportunity to apologize for the trouble she caused him, but also in part to show him that she had made something of herself after all. Finding out the extend of the damage she had left behind took all the cockiness out of her, however.
Working together is going to be a bit of a challenge, since ten years does not seem to have diminished their mutual attraction one bit. Good thing that they are constantly kept on high alert in the middle of a smuggling operation, complicated with the threat of terrorists and weapons coming accross the border along the same route.
But when their undercover explorations puts them in danger, their feelings can no longer be denied and those long dormant sparks flare into full fire. They will now have to fight to stay alive and save each other.....
*****
Although not with quite the same impact as Dana Marton's previous book in the series MY SPY, this story once again blends a strong suspense story line full of action, with a softer more emotional and insightful romantic tale.
I didn't get to know enough about Shep. There didn't seem to be sufficient context for me to properly connect with him, although quite an appealing character on the surface, I didn't really figure out what makes him tick........why he is how he is. Shep's lingering feelings of responsibility for Lilly initially rule and overshadow his everpresent attraction, until he experiences first hand how much Lilly has developed and strengthened. Then he is able to put his full trust in her, both professionally and personally and lets loose on his passion.
I got a better look at Lilly, who didn't have the happiest of childhoods and ended up in the system, leaving her with understandable feelings of unworthiness and unwantedness. Shep never made her feel that way.....not ten years ago and not now. Lilly always had a strong physical response to Shep and finds it more difficult now to keep her hormones in check. Back then she was not ready for all he represented, she needed time to come into her own, although her feelings have never changed, her outlook and her attitude have. She is ready, willing and able!!
Dana Marton is very knowledgeable about standard police and FBI operating procedures and such details always make for clean and flawless investigative stories. Although Shep's unit skims the edges of proper procedure on a regular basis, the fact that they do, is clearly pointed out. It is one of the reasons Ms. Marton's books are such a pleasure to read. It is obvious a tremendous amount of appropriate research has been done, which is always a compliment to a discerning reader.
A good, solid, quick and stimulating read by Dana Marton, who never disappoints.
I have now had the pleasure of reading two books in the HQ: Texas series by Dana Marton. Spy in the Saddle is a wonderful addition to the series. I enjoyed this book just as much as My Spy. Ms. Marton has created a fascinating group of characters that really know how to get the job done. This book is packed full of action and drama with some mystery too of course. There are a few steamy scenes too. Ms. Marton has certainly created a series that I am going to enjoy following.
Shep Lewis has had some relationship problems in the past. He never imagined the woman that caused him so much trouble years ago would appear on this assignment. When Lilly Tanner is the FBI agent assigned to the case, he just hopes they can stay out of each others way. Of course that is impossible! The sparks start flying as soon as they meet again and when thrown into some dangerous situations those sparks become more like fireworks!
Shep & Lilly work well together to try to piece together the smuggling ring case. They find themselves in some dangerous situations and work well to keep themselves alive.
I really liked Lilly, this girl is use to doing whatever it takes to get the job done. I thought what she did in order to gain an "in" to the bar they were investigating was pretty cool. Shep didn't much like her idea but found to try to keep her safe. I think this was some of my favorite scene's in the book. I don't want to tell you what Lilly does because it will spoil it for you. So you'll just have to grab your own copy and read it for yourself.
This book really is packed with lots of action and drama. This is part of a series and I have read the previous book but none of the others in the series. I had No problem at all reading either book, so I think you would be able to read these as a stand alone just fine. So if you have not read the rest of the series don't let that stop you from starting the series now.
If you enjoy a romantic suspense story with lots of action, drama, and some steamy scenes I think you will enjoy this book. I also think you may enjoy more of Ms. Marton's work because I know I am sure enjoying her wonderful talent. I have a couple more of her books in my to be read pile and I can't wait to get to them. I think I have found myself another new favorite author! I can't wait to see what Dana Marton comes up with for the other books in this series.
I was given the fabulous opportunity to read this book so I may share my thoughts. As always it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

After reading My Spy, I was eager to read Spy in the Saddle and I am so glad I was able to do so. Dana Marton has proven that she is adept at writing the type of stories that captures the attention of readers who enjoy the thrill they get from reading books that are packed with action, suspense, mystery and romance.
Spy in the Saddle (which is the sequel to My Spy) is about a young FBI agent named Lilly Tanner who was once a juvenile delinquent and undercover Commando Shepard (Shep) Lewis who happened to be her parole office at the time. Lilly’s past was shrouded with pain and loss as a result she was afraid to trust anyone who tried to help her. It was this mistrust that led to Shep’s career as a parole officer coming to an abrupt end. They have not seen each other for over ten years, this however was about to change when Lilly was assigned to the case that Shep happened to be working on.
Lilly is competent at her job and she does not hesitate to take risks as she feels that she constantly needs to prove that she was no longer a screw-up. She is willing to do whatever is required to get the job done which did not sit well with Shep. Initially Shep was not looking forward to working with Lilly as the memories of the last time he saw her still haunted him. The moment he laid eyes on her Shep knew he was in trouble. He tried to fight the feelings that he had for her but this proved to be quite difficult especially seeing that they had to work so closely together. He had this urgent need to protect her at all time as he felt he failed to do so ten years ago.
These two made a great team. It was quite clear that the chemistry between them was not only personal but also work related.
This book is chock full of action, drama and suspense. It is a bit light on the romance not that much could have taken place with all that was happening. This is a great read which kept me turning the pages and which constantly had me on the edge of my seat.
If you enjoy stories that are action packed and which keep you on the edge of your seat then you need to get yourself a copy of this book.
Dana’s SDDU (Special Designation Defense Unit) series of books have been going for a while, and with each one, we get to meet new characters and find out how others are going from previous books. I haven’t had a chance to read them all, yet just enough to get excited with this one – the long lost sister of Mitch Mendoza (‘Last Spy Standing’) appears as FBI agent, Lilly Tanner, along to assess the Texas branch of the SDDU. She’s done really well for someone who was sold by her parents for drugs at the age of one and grew up in the foster system. I was so happy to discover this book was her story, as my heart broke a little reading ‘Last Spy Standing’, as her brother Mitch followed lead after lead to try to find her.
As part of her job assessing the SDDU boys at the border, Lilly Tanner comes back in contact with her first crush and juvenile justice parole officer, Shep Lewis. This comes as a huge surprise to him and bang, tension from the first few pages. They partner up to try and beat the smuggling deadline and to find the head of the operation before time runs out.
This is great as a stand-alone book, but for readers who have kept up with the SDDU books through the years won’t be disappointed at all. I’d be tipping that the discovery of the lost sister to be a relief for avid followers of this series.
I really enjoy Dana’s style of writing, her plots and characters. Solid tension, plotting and character journeys build together to create another quality read. She does a great job, as always.
Shep is a driven man with a past and an abused young woman he tried to save that haunts his memories. He is no saint, but believes in one thing, the protection of his country. If that means bending the rules a little, or playing hard ball, so be it. He is on a dangerous mission to protect the U. S. Border from invasion with a small special ops team of men he trusts. He doesn't like being second guessed, and frankly there isn't time to play nice with whoever the F.B.I. Wants to send to babysit them. He should have known life wasn't done with the sucker punches.
Lilly is in charge of evaluating Shep and his team of hardened men. She is also the young woman who haunts Shep. She hopes to give them both the closure they need to go on with their lives and rescue the mission. She's getting pressure to scrap his group, but when she gets there, she is determined to give the men a fair shake. Together they become an unstoppable duo and the sparks fly.
Spy in the Saddle is a high impact, no holds barred action packed read, that has you sweating in your seat and reluctant to set it down even to eat. It has plot, heat, action, and emotion. Everything a person needs to sit down and be entertained. If there was anything negative about it, and that is dubious, I would say that Lilly goes off half-cocked a time or two and she is supposed to be the rule player and voice of reason. Even that wasn't enough to dim the enjoyment because sometimes our emotions and need to prove ourselves make us do crazy things. Thumbs definitely up.
Lilly Tanner was a juvenile delinquent. Her parents sold her when she was a toddler and the people who bought her deserted her and then after tons of a foster homes she ended up with Shep Lewis as her parole officer. She was only 17 and hard to handle but Shep tried to help her, protect her and get her on the right path. She stole his car and accidentally burned his house down and got him fired when she emailed him telling him she loved him. What a nightmare girl right? Now it's ten years later and Shep gets the surprise of his life when that girl shows up at his secret covert unit as a FBI agent there to help them catch some smugglers. For Lilly, Shep is even hotter than he was years ago when she ran away from him and lived in his car and sang in bars to survive. She pulled herself together and made something of herself and now has a career as a field agent with the FBI. Unbelievably the attraction she had for him is still there. Question is does he feel it too and can she get past her pride and trust issues to let him in and can he see her for who she is now instead of that problem girl. Action packed as always Dana Marton takes you on a thrill ride with these two characters as they chase down the bad guys while figure out what they mean to each other. The emotion is intense when these two get together. Your left wondering til the end if Shep and Lilly can overcome their trust issues and be together. They have to survive the bad guys first! A total thrill ride!
I'm always thrilled to read another adventure by Dana Martin. I'm drawn in immediately to the story and believable, imperfect characters. And while it's an spy action romp, I love the humor she includes in the story as well. This was a fast paced, fun romance novel and typical of Dana's style. I've included a couple of quotes below that show the humor and why I love Dana's writing style. Yes, a little silly on my part, but no reason romance can't be fun IMO. I will definitely read more of her novels.
Shep Lewis, undercover commando part of a six-man team with credible intelligence that terrorists with their weapons of mass destruction would be smuggled across the border on October first. His team’s primary mission was to prevent that. Lilly Tanner is an FBI agent assigned to the group to provide assistance. Lilly and Shep have a history and maybe a little more? This book wraps up the open issues in the prior books from the series. It can be read as a stand alone.
"Are we still part of the top secret Special Designation Defense Unit, or is this now the Wrecked by Cupid Team? Have changes been made while I’ve been out?”
"Shep wished he knew where the button was to project him into an alternate universe."
"No way was he going to do it again. Unless he absolutely had to kiss her to keep their cover. He would hate it next time. For sure."

This was ARC for an honest review by the author...
Spy in the Saddle is the third book in the HQ:Texas series, about a team of undercover commandos, part of the Special Designation Defense Unit on patrol at the Texas Mexico border. This story concerns Shep Lewis, a former parole officer who was fired from his job ten years ago when his seventeen year old charge stole his car, set his house on fire, and then sent emails to him saying she ran away because she was romantically attracted to him. Sharp thought he had put all this behind him, until the new FBI consultant walks into their office and turns out to be his former charge, Lilly Tanner, ten years older and more beautiful and alluring then ever. Can he work out his attraction to her and complete their mission, preventing the very credible threat of terrorists crossing the border into the US with weapons of destruction? Can he stop the elusive Coyote, mastermind behind these threats, as well as drug and gun smuggller? And then with all this, Lilly insists on going undercover at the local bar suspected to be involved in the smuggling. I enjoyed the story, which had a good mix of romance and action. Disclosure: I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Shep Lewis was with a group of undercover operatives in Texas who were trying to stop terrorists from smuggling weapons across the Mexican border. The group was working to identify the gang boss known as Coyote.
The team was not happy about the FBI sending an agent to work with them, and Shep was shocked to see that the agent was Lilly Tanners who he hasn't seen in ten years. Lilly was a very difficult teenager and Shep was her parole officer. She ran away when she was 17, stealing Shep's car, burning his house down and getting him fired. Obviously, he never forgot about her but now that she was a woman, sparks fly. To make matters even worse, Lilly was also there to evaluate the SDDU team.
Shep and Lilly helped carry this story so that I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them. They really made this an enjoyable read for me.
This author put together a well-written story that you won’t be able to put down. Not only is this a brilliantly crafted story, but it is also a hard-hitting tale. The conflicts between duty and what an individual wants, stand out starkly. It was a very unique and touching contrast.
I am happy to have won this book and highly recommend this romantic suspense.
I have to confess, Dana Marton is not my favourite Intrigue author.
In a previous book of this series, "My Spy", Bree told Jamie about how when she was a beauty pageant queen, she was stalked by a girl called Lilly Tanner, who later killed herself. This made Lilly's brother stalk Bree as well to get revenge.
Except Lilly Tanner is now the main character in "Spy In The Saddle" and a former teen delinquent - and Jamie is suddenly related to her! I mean, how sloppy is that? This may only be category romance, but it's pretty terrible when a writer can't even seem to remember what she's written previously!
The book also assumes you've read the others in the series. The identity of The Coyote is revealed to be a character from previous books - but had never even been mentioned in this one up until the point he's exposed as the Big Bad! It's so lazy!
It's also pretty boring. Shep and Lilly spend most of their time wondering what's going on in the basement of a saloon, but it's never really established what was going on down there or how it related to weapons being smuggled over the border! The heroine is off-page for the climax and golly, I don't think anything worked well or made sense in this mess!
Shep works with the SDDU to catch smugglers and terrorists in a small town in Texas. With the knowledge of the when a big shipment will be moved and struggling to find out who the Coyote really is, FBI agent Lilly Tanner arrives to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to.
Ten years earlier, Shep was Lilly's parole officer. She ran away and he lost his job. With so many swirling emotions between the two, will they be able to get the job done and catch the Coyote?
This was another amazing book by Dana Marton! I have loved every single book I have read of hers and this one didn't disappoint. It was full of action and suspense. Also, some comedy and sparks fly between Shep and Lilly. I wish there was a little more info on Shep's background but other than that, it was a truly amazing read that I will definitely read over and over with the other books in this series!!
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Shep Lewis and his undercover teammates, working Border Patrol along the Rio Grande, are trying to stop the biggest terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11...it had me hooked before the end of the first chapter!
They had just a few days to keep the attack from happening and needed to figure out where the terrorists were going to infiltrate into the US from Mexico. The FBI has assigned agent Lilly Tanner, who had a past with Shep when she was a juvenile delinquent, and boy does this spice things up!
Lilly finds out two of the teammates are related to her, which has Shep wary of taking his relationship with her further...but it happens anyway when they have to partner up to find out the real identity of the mastermind of the upcoming attack and his cohorts.
The pace of the story was such that I was able to finish the book in a few hours, and as I have said in past reviews - another winner from Dana Marton and I highly recommend it!
Despite the title there are not many horses in sight as an group of undercover officers in Texas try to prevent terrorists from smuggling weapons across the Mexican border. This follows 'My Spy'. The group tries to learn the identity of the Coyote gang boss and the location to be used.
Shep Lewis is stunned when an FBI advisor sent to assist them turns out to be a girl he knew years ago. Lilly Tanner caused him a lot of trouble aged seventeen, and now she's grown up he finds her attractive.
Lilly doesn't ask before getting herself a job singing in a bar used for smuggling, and just put herself in danger. Author Dana Morton doesn't do things by halves in this exciting book which has a higher body count than the usual romantic suspense.
When Shep and Lilly meet up after ten years, you can't blame Shep for resenting this FBI agent, after all when she was only seventeen, she stole his truck, burned his house down AND caused him to lose his job. Now he's expected to forget the past and work with her to stop a terrorist group from crossing the border. It's not only bullets flying during this action packed mystery. Sparks and sexual tension fill the air when the gun smoke clears. Dana Marton has again delivered a tightly woven tale of danger and a second chance love. Spy in the Saddle
Dana Marton has done it again! I loved this book, and was hooked from the first page. I stayed up all night reading this book. I love all of the characters in this book and how the strong women keep these soldiers in line. Shep is working undercover trying to find the head of the terrorists who is trying to smuggle weapons into the US. Shep must work with FBI agent Lilly to help solve the case. Shep and Lilly have a past and a growing attraction for each other. I can’t wait to read more book hopefully with the other men on the undercover team. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange
This is the story of Lilly and Shep. Ten years ago they met while he was her parole officer. She was 17, he was 24. She had a major crush on him. She set his house on fire, stole his car and was sent into the foster system. Ten years later he is an undercover agent and she an FBI agent. They are reunited on a case. The sexual tension is flying as fast as the bullets. If you believe in second chances you will love this book. Ms. Marton has done an outstanding job of creating convincing characters and realistic scenarios.
Once again Dana Marton does not fail to deliver a great adventure!! She has once again interwoven a realistic and relevent topic by weaving the attempt to stop a terrorist attack on the US with the heat and magnetic pull of Lilly and Shep's attempts to not be drawn together. You really need to pick up this book as your next adventure to see if the terrorists plot to attack is stamped out, but even more to see if Shep and Lilly are drawn together or resist the pull and walk away from each other for a final time. Trust me, you won't be able to stop turning the pages to find out!
Growing up in a Youth Home was not a good thing for Shep Lewis, so when he and five of his friends were adopted they all grew up to be US Marshals in Texas they found piece. Now being older Shep is on top of his game. Head of a secret ops on the Tex/Mex Boarder he had his hands full until a very sexy FBI Agent come on the sean, Lilly Tanner come back into hie life again turned it upside down again. They both have to find the Leader of a group of terrorist's that are coming over the boarder from Mexico and fight the need to be together. 5stars it gets.
I love Dana Marton books! They aren't short stories or 400 page tales. They are just right and I read this in one afternoon. She has it all with broken relationships, Western ambiance, former Military men, a self sufficient woman and lots of action. She has a way of coming up with all these plots that really look like they could happen. There was a lot of rough and messy in Mexico. So, did they get the "Coyote" and finish off the terrorists? Guess you will have to read this book!
Another phenomenal story from an amazing author whose characters are perfectly imperfect... Shep & Lily are a great match the back story of her being a juvenile delinquent and him her parole officer who she runs away from him then to be thrown together 10 years later different people both working for the government is great the attraction between them is so intense.... I love all the characters the way they are a family and weave so perfectly together....
Gosh I really loved this book. Dana Martin is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. This book was filled with hot buff men all working with one tough heroine. I fell in love with Shep and Lilly almost right away. They both tried to resist the other and should have given in right from the beginning but that wouldn't have been near as exciting as this book turned out to be. The story was great and I loved the characters. I definitely recommend this great read.
In Marton’s romantic intrigue novel, Shep Lewis and FBI agent Lilly Tanner must team together to battle terrorists. It’s been ten years since they’ve seen each other but they are forced to put the past behind them to focus on the danger looming before them. As a growing attraction sizzles between them, their undercover identities aren’t strong enough to hide it and they battle to complete the mission successfully. A strong addition to the HQ: Texas series.
Shep having a blast from the past as Lilly steps back into his life full throttle. now they have to work together, this book started a little slow but it still kept me on the edge of the seat. way to go for some good car chases and gun fights.
Absolutely loved this book. You feel like you're spending time with family and hate to say goodbye. The characters are realistic and the bad guy is revealed you find yourself wanting a new book to keep us informed about the same characters. Dana Marton hits another home run.
