HOW DO YOU GET A MAN TO PROPOSE WHEN HE THINKS OF YOU AS A SISTER?
It would be a challenge—particularly since that man was steely tycoon Theron Anetakis. But Isabella Caplan had known from the moment she'd met Theron as a girl that she was meant for him, and he for her. And now she was going to make him realize it, too…by seducing him to one knee.
But if becoming his bride came at the cost of his honor, could he forgive her? Could she forgive herself?
INCLUDES THE BONUS BOOK "IN THE RICH MAN'S WORLD" BY CAROL MARINELLI
Maya Banks is the #1 New York Times, #1 USA Today and international bestselling author of over 50 novels. A wife and mother of three, she lives in Texas.
In my opinion this is not the best work of miss Banks. She usually writes a steamy, complicated story. But this one is mild with not so much layers on the story.
Its still sweet but lack of depth. I wish the story can be more interesting. More angst, more drama. The chemistry betwen th characters are ok.
My Thoughts Liked Isabella (even though she was written a bit too childlike at times) she was sweet if a bit naïve. She was also a bit too narrow minded with her determination to win Theron. For a guy who was so methodical, he missed a lot of the signs and I didn’t really like that he was so stubborn in his resolve to marry OW. This one has more OW drama and angst than THE MISTRESS but was entertaining enough. The ending with Bella’s grand gestures and self-sacrifice was a bit OTT but overall it was still a good read.
Two stories in one book. I give Maya Banks 4 stars for having a somewhat original female character, but I give Carol Marinelli 1 star because I don't care for her writing style. Maya Banks character Isabella is the first female character I've read in a romance novel who has decided to go for getting the guy she wants. Typically, in romance novels, the female characters are reluctant partners or are being pursued by the men. But in this story, Isabella does the chasing and seducing--even though she is the typical virgin. I've never cared for Carol Marinelli's writing style. I stopped reading by the third chapter because I was bored and frustrated. Many times when she writes quotes, she doesn't make it clear who is doing the talking in conversations. She also spends far too much time on descriptions of the character's background rather than placing emphasis on the action of the story, and this kind of writing just bores me to death.
I love Maya Banks. This one did not disappoint. Yeah it was a little predictable, but it was good so I didn't care to much. Bella was awesome. She knew what she wanted and went after it. Poor Theron never knew what hit him. Now I need to go back and read the first one.
Isabella Caplan is all grown up and she’s ready to stake her claim on Theron Anetakis. The only problem… he’s got an engagement lined up in only a few days.
What I liked about this one was that Theron and Isabella haven’t been around each other that much. This wasn’t one of those stories where they’ve been “brother” and “sister” close and now she wants more.
The Anetakis family, being close to her father before his death, hold control over her inheritance until 25 or she marries. With Theron’s relocation, he now controls her account, not his brother.
Bella sets out to seduce Theron, but believes she’s too late when Theron comes to her and when he ends up taking her “innocence” he insists they marry. The hope she holds that she can win his love is dashed when she overhears what she believes is his longing for his intended fiancé.
I liked Bella’s determination. I didn’t feel like she was overstepping the line and in the end, when she truly believed she was wrong in her seduction, she was willing to make it right.
IN THE RICH MAN'S WORLD I never want to see this book again. It's shameful to have paired this with a Maya Banks book!
A fun, quick read that was filled with tons of my ‘guilty pleasures’. A young woman, Isabella, has been in love with family friend, Theron, for years. Not that she’s graduated college Bella is finally ready to make her move. Except Theron is ready to announce his engagement to a woman he doesn’t love. Bella tries her hardest to make Theron see her for the woman she has grown in to. He battles how he feels for her with the plan he had set out for his life. Really fun, sexy read.
I’ll admit, I wasn’t as intrigued by the second book in this collection, In the Rich Man’s World by Carol Marinelli. It felt a little dated, things like needing to take a disk out of a computer to deliver her article. I liked the opportunity to try a new author but this book just didn’t do it for me.

This is a re-release and it was originally called The Tycoon's Rebel Bride. Definitely worth the quick read on a chilly Saturday afternoon in front of the fire.
Nice book, good reading. Must be one of Maya Banks' first books prior to her now heavily erotic books. Isabella and loved Theon since she was a teen and now grown up she is ready to get what she wants and will do anything to get her man. Theon's plans are to get engaged to Alannis and start a family. He is informed that little Isabella will be staying with Theon until she is ready to fly over to Europe. So this becomes an annoyance because he has just recently transferred from the European hotels he oversaw to New York to oversee the stateside hotels. Once Isabella finds out that Theon is in New York her plans quickly change. Very enjoyable romance novel. Good read.
I bought this book cause I love both authors. In this story (part 2 of 3 in the Anetakis Tycoons) Theron take over from his brother in New York. He also takes over Isabella (who's father was his father's bf and both are dead) She wants him, he wants a marriage of convience. Who will win? In great Banks stories there are always HEA. In the case of "In the Rich Man's World" by Carol Marinelli: Amilia is a reporter who gets the honor of interviewing Vaughan for her paper. He is impressed with her and takes her with him during some talks...he wants her in his bed. This story has a few twists but in Marinelli fashion all is not lost.
Sadly I'm going to donate many of my duplicate copies - this was a 5-star read or me but I couldn't resist buying a duplicate "heir & spare" copy, but I'm trying to whittle down my book collection so I'm giving my used dupe to a friend. Not giving it up for any other reason: this trilogy is AWESOME!!!!! Highly recommend it.
I enjoyed this book. Isabella ( Bella) has always loved Theron. She’s now his ward ( even though she’s older than 18). He has plans to marry someone else but finds himself too attracted to Bella. I hurt for her when she over hears what Theron has to say to his brother Chrysander. Will they get their happy ever after? I highly recommend this book.
In a Rich Mans World is much better than the first book. More charismatic characters although still a predictable plot. The Bride is a quick read that makes you suspend any realistic possibility. The second book's characters have flaws and problems that you can relate to even if the outcome is a Cinderella story:)
DNF'd I hated the emphasis on the importance of virginity, and how weirdly possessive and gross the lead male was. This is just not the romance for me, but I can see the appeal for people who don't care about that sort of thing.
This is a compilation of two books. I decided to give the overall rating to just the Maya Banks book because I liked it so much and I actually purchased it for that novel. The other book was so unimpressive that I didn't want to rank the Banks book lower because of it.
THE BRIDE by Maya Banks: This is the second book in the Anetakis Tycoons series about three Greek brothers. This is the story of Theron Anetakis who has decided to settle down with an appropriate woman and have a family. He ends up having to take responsibility for Isabella Caplan who is a ward of a sort of his family (they are managing her trust). While Theron wants to consider Bella a child that he remembers, she refuses to allow him to see her that way. Bella has come to New York with a purpose: to seduce Theron, the man she has loved for years. I really liked this story. It is a series romance so it is not deep, but I loved the sassy determined Bella. The story is a bit predictable, but the characters make up for it. Rating: 4 stars.
IN A RICH MAN'S WORLD by Carol Marinelli: Amelia Jacobs is a celebrity reporter looking to become a business reporter. When she gets the assignment of meeting and reporting on Vaughan Mason, it goes so poorly that Amelia thinks her career is over. Instead, she ends up being invited to travel with Vaughan and ends up falling in love with him. When she finds out that her newspaper has been lying to her it is too late to save her relationship with Vaughan. I wanted to like this story. The setup was interesting, but I never felt a connection between the characters. I was completely annoyed with how Amelia blames Vaughan for not trusting her when she did the identical thing to him and never apologized! The resolution was too quick and I ended up disliking the book. Rating: 1.5 stars.
The Bride How hard would you fight to get the man you loved. How far would you go? When you're considered a little sister and a responsibility sometimes you have to make them see that you're not! You're a big girl with big dreams and an eye on the prize. But when he has things in order down to the schedule of his personal, engagement, life with the right wife in a loveless marriage, it may just be too late. His engagement is planned, the ring bought, but will he go through with it?
Bonus book includes:In a Rich Man's World A heart once broken tents to mend but the wounds are still there. In the game of love can you really mkae the leap of faith it takes to trust after the betrayal? She tries. Things go wrong after the article is published and she has been set up for him to take a fall. Can they get past the hype, the lies and the betrayal and find each other again?
I already wrote a review for "In the Rich Man's World"
The Bride. Bella loved Theron her whole life, and when she got the opportunity to act on her love...she took it! She did all that she could to get him to see her as a woman...instead of a kid girl his family took in. Little did Bella know, Theron begin to fall for her from the moment that he saw her (all grown up) but being the gentleman that he is...he fought his attraction. Until he could no longer bear it, he knew fighting against what he felt for Bella was the biggest mistake ever. Once he did give in, Bella took herself out. Lack of communication, it's detrimental to a relationship!! I'm glad they worked it out though. Theron got what he had been waiting, searching, wanting and Bella got the absolute love of her life.
Rebellion tells the story of a Greek tycoon Theron and Isabella Caplan, a young rich, beautiful and inexperienced. This novel is a good example of how clichés can be used effectively to tell a story. Although not very knowledgeable Isabella tries to seduce all forms Theron, make him fall for her, and this was a positive point in history. She was not passive waiting for him to notice her, she was the fight, and even getting through the awkward times in her attempts, she did not let kill and going forward. And I really like heroines as well.
Girls, I need to warn you that those Greeks Theron is drooling ... And sure, you will want to have a Greek well for you! kkk
A great read that flows easy, delicious and once again left me satisfied with my diva Maya Banks. Super recommend. bjus
This was not my favorite Maya Banks book by any means. I actually liked the bonus book by Carol Marinelli better. Banks' story had a 23 year old fawning after a family friend that she had not seen for years (He was much older and barely remembered her)but that somehow she was in love with--huh?--and planned to seduce and get him to marry her. He treated her like a daughter and yet there were kisses and attraction despite his plan to propose to another woman. Just yuck to this whole plotline. There were some nice lighter and intimate moments that Banks wrote well, but overall the plot was not appealing. Marinelli's book wasn't great, but it saved the book and overshadowed Banks' work.
It gets a 3 because I didn't really care for the second story. It was too hard to get into and I was not invested in those characters. I understand that this is a reprint of a previous storyline but since I missed it this gives me a chance to read it. I loved the story by Maya but not sure I will read the other author again.
The Bride: LOVED! I LAUGHED! and laughed! and maybe even shed a tear! It was hilarious! with lots of emotion! really good story!
In the Rich Man's World: good read, was captivated because I just had to know!!! had to know the secret(even though I had an assumption as to what it was) plus I had to know if he would actually forgive!
Loved it! Isabella and Theron had some real laugh out loud moments. I liked that Bella knew what she wanted and had the courage to go after him! It was good to catch up with Chrysander and Marley from the Greek Tycoon's Pregnant Mistress. Nicely Done!
