Two women entangled in a web of danger, deception, and unexpected desire. Will their fake romance be the key to survival, or will it unravel the very foundation of their hearts?

Reggie Hawkins is used to living a lie. As the closeted lesbian daughter of a billionaire media mogul, the only luxury she can’t afford is being herself. She yearns to escape the toxic grasp of her family's global news empire, but her father’s latest demands once again threaten to plunge her deep into the corporate politics she despises.

Gwen Murphy is a woman on the run, haunted by a relentless and sinister shadow group. After unwittingly uncovering a nefarious scheme involving the most advanced spyware ever created, she is forced into the role of a whistleblower, leaving behind everything she’s worked so hard for.

Their paths collide during a fateful diversion in Zurich where an unforgettable encounter sparks a connection neither can forget.

Destiny reunites them in New York City, where Reggie proposes a daring plan—a tabloid-fueled fake relationship that will allow her to wrest control of the business, and her life, from her domineering father while giving Gwen the resources she needs to start her life over in safety.

As the spotlight intensifies, so does the attraction between the two women, blurring the lines between fiction and reality. But in a world riddled with deceit and betrayal, Reggie and Gwen must learn to trust each other and find solace amidst the chaos.

Will their love be enough to conquer the forces that seek to tear them apart?

I love it when TB Markinson and Miranda MacLeod team up and concoct a story. A guarantee of sexy, funny, and entertaining. And this time, in addition to romance and fun, they also mix in intrigue and deception.

Gwen Murphy is on the run as a whistleblower, traveling under a false identity from London back to the States, if at all possible, without causing a stir. Which definitely doesn't succeed when during the flight, she literally collides with the millionaire's daughter Reggie Hawkins in an unforgettable way.

Reggie, of the Hawkins media empire, is on a flight back to New York with her father, the ruthless patriarch. Thanks to turbulence and the ensuing anxiety attack, she stumbles and meets Gwen in a truly unorthodox way. It was a certainly unconventional first encounter, but definitely a fun one, at least for Reggie. But Gwen also gets her money's worth, even if only after the landing, but oh so hot.

What the authors created here is a humorous, heartwarming story about two women with totally different backgrounds and families and especially financial status. A love story on a shaky foundation of fake identity and fake relationship. The story takes place in a business, where unfortunately for some media clicks and the number of viewers are more important than the truth. Trusting each other in the midst of intrigues is a big challenge for Reggie and Gwen, which they have to learn (again). Toxic family relationships and patriarchal structures don't help either. The humor is typical of Markinson and MacLeod's style, yet they always bring in themes that are current and important.

I liked both MCs from the beginning. The honest-to-God Gwen, the whistleblower, who has trouble not revealing her false identity as soon as feelings distract her is just adorable. And Reggie, who at first glance grew up with the golden spoon in her mouth, but we gradually learn that all that glitters is not gold. What Reggie and her brother had to put up with as children, and even as adults have to listen to again and again, is heartbreaking.

I cheered for Gwen and Reggie hoping that amidst the chaos they would find a way to a real love and relationship and a happy ending.

Wonderful 🥰

Maybe I didn't read the blurb properly, but this turned out way differently than I expected--and was even better!

The setup is brilliant, the meet-cute hilarious, the sparks flying all over the place. Team Markinson/MacCloed just get better every time: fun/interesting characters, humor, chemistry & sparks, spice, and great pacing of an engaging story around which the romance is hung.

They know what they're doing! Fans of this author pairing will be super pleased with Flight PLan, especially if they enjoyed The AM Show.

This was a fun read and the beginning was pretty hot. Midway through I lost some interest in the story. Thank goodness there was no black moment at the 80% mark.

For a fake romance novel that incorporates two of my favorite tropes in Sapphic Literature—ice queen and age gap—'Flight Plan' did try to explore an intriguing theme and plot. It began with an enticing and steamy start, but as the story progressed, I found the development and resolutions to be somewhat underwhelming—even a bit confusing at times. And as a fan of T.B. Markinson and Miranda MacLeod's collaborations, I had hoped to enjoy the story more than I actually did.

Nonetheless, it was still a generally enjoyable read. I did enjoy getting to know the main characters—Gwen and Reggie; and their chemistry was undoubtedly compelling, not to mention steamy! So, despite my reservations, I still believe that 'Flight Plan' marks a promising start to my #SapphicSeptember reading journey.

I enjoyed this, but I wanted to like it a little more than I did. It had all the trappings of something I like (rich girl/poor girl fantasy, an age gap but not a huge one, fake relationship, kind of an ice queen, etc) but the execution for me left a little something to be desired. I liked both Gwen and Reggie and I was rooting for them, but I found some of the plot elements a little confusing (who was that woman who broke into Gwen’s apartment? Was she actually ever gonna ask Gwen to do anything for her? It seemed also t contrived just to get them into the fake relationship and then forgotten about. In general, I think the third act felt a little rushed/tied up a bit too well, plot wise. It certainly wasn’t bad, this combo of writers is solid and I’ve enjoyed everything they’ve written, but I’ve enjoyed others from them a little more. I can’t wait for the audiobook of this one, though, I hope they get Lori Prince who was done a lot of their other works.

(Also, it might just be a me thing, but just once or twice it would be nice if in an age gap relationship, where the ice queen older lady is a powerful boss, if SHE wanted to Dom the younger one, and not the other way around. It seems to always play out the opposite way, and it would be nice to see other dynamics play out once in a while).

If you want to read a boring book about two characters who have 0 chemistry and aren't very likeable, this is it!

No seriously, I didn't see any chemistry between them and it gave me whiplash when they suddenly were in love.
We didn't get any scenes that showed how their feelings developed, if anything it was lust.
I did not like any of the characters, I preferred Gwen over Reggie - for some reason I just didn't get along with her and rather disliked her.
After they decided to suddenly be in love I just skimmed most of it, trying to see if anything interesting would happen...which it didn't. But that's probably the case because I didn't care about the characters or the plot.
Which is sad, because the whole thing with Gwen being on the run could've been so interesting but the execution was just lacking.

The first time Reggie ans Gwen meet is both so funny and spicy. The way they instantly connect made me embark on their journey right away. The chemistry between them is definitely there. On paper, they are so different, but deep down, they are both in invisible jail. Gwen is on the run and doesn’t know where her life is anymore, while Regina is locked up in a life that doesn’t suit her, looking for her father’s approval. What I liked most was their protectiveness toward each other and the certainty and strength of their love once they acknowledge it.
This story is not simply a fake dating story; the stakes are higher. It tackles the topics of media manipulation, patriarchy, and homophobia. Some things are a bit unrealistic, like the fact that Gwen wasn’t more careful not to expose herself when she agrees to play a fake girlfriend. The fact that Gwen is a whistleblower adds some tension and suspense, and I admit there was potential for more chaos here, and Reggie could have been morally gray. As a masochist, I wished Markinson and MacLeod had made me suffer a bit more. But they chose to spare the reader’s heart, and the resolution was quite smooth and emotionally satisfying, though a bit too easy for me.
This is my first time reading from the Markinson/McLeod pair. It is a nice blend of chemistry, sweetness, and suspense. I will definitely read more of their work.

Turbulent start

Reggie literally falls into Gwen and the fun begins. They are super hot together and Gwen knows how to take control. Reggie lives a very privileged lifestyle, but it comes at a price. Gwen gives her comfort and stands by her when she goes against her father. I was completely involved in the story and how it was all going to be resolved. Miranda and T.B. And an amazing team. I love all of their books.

TB and Miranda have done it again! A HOT yet intriguing story. Reggie is the daughter of a billionaire media mogul who hides her true self from her bigoted father. Gwen is a whistleblower on the run until her story can come out. During a flight out of Zurich, their plane hits turbulence and a bad storm, that's where they meet.
They were destined to meet. Definitely 5 stars!!!

2 ★ | DNF. Cute cover though. I just can’t be bothered. It was too slow. I found it boring. Yet again, another highly anticipated sapphic that has let me down. AGAIN. It had the storyline to be something good, but not executed to my liking. Just my humble opinion.

Exciting!

Reggie and Gwen meet during a turbulent flight which from there sparks a connection between them that changes both their lives. Meeting again in New York City, Reggie needs Gwen’s help, so they formulate the perfect plan to help them both escape their current lives and get the one they want.

The story got off to an exciting start, throwing Reggie and Gwen together in an exciting way. I loved the connection they had from the very first moment, and it was obvious they were going to get on well and have this brilliant relationship, whether it be fleeting or more long term. As always with a collab novel from T.B. and Miranda, humour was laced throughout the story to lighten the more dramatic and darker moments. It was light and refreshing, making it so easy to understand and sympathise with the characters.

I adored the plan they put in place and hoped it would give them more time to develop something permanent and still get the same results. Reggie was vulnerable but clever and strong willed. I had no worries about her being able to pull this off, but as more and more came to light about the situation they were dealing with, the revelations were unexpected. They really delivered on the drama and kept the story exciting until the very end.

Another great story from these two fantastic authors that was really enjoyable.

CW: lesbophobia (mild to severe), alcohol consumption, blackmailing, references to child abuse, fear of flying, fear of boats, references to boating accident.

Rep: Reggie (MC) is cis, white lesbian. Gwen (MC) is cis, white lesbian.

I fricken loved every second of this one.
Gwen and Reggie's chemistry was amazing, and I loved the development of their relationship - it was fantastic.

First 20%, as you would expect from a collaboration by these two writers, humour, endearing characters and “moving” sex scenes, and that is the first 20%. What I also got was an intriguing back story and a plot twist that shocked me and made me turn the page even faster!
Now, I went from, Oh no…. To No! Oh! in two chapters and I am so here for this ride!
I will confess having finished the book, I loved it. There was a bit of belief suspension required, tho probably not as much as I would like to think. The big plot twist that threw me within the first 20%? I didn’t quite get how that worked out, but a wee bit of suspension I can live with in order to have a fun romance that I don’t think is claiming to go into romantic blend territory.

Excellent story and collaboration

I’ve mentioned before that my favourite author’s collaboration is between TB and Miranda. Together they make amazing stories, and this one is on the mark. This book is excellent from the start to the end. It was so gripping from the first words that I couldn’t put it down.

I loved it completely. This was a great and very interesting story. I love the characters, the witty dialogues, the humour, the intrigue, the twists and turns. Every single thing in this book is delightful. The plot and story are flawlessly developed.

I hope there’s a sequel because I’d like to read more about Reggie and Gwen.

This is an absolutely brilliant story, and I highly recommend this book.

EXCEPTIONALLY BRILLIANT

This is the best collaboration between TB and Miranda that I’ve read, and I think I’ve read them all. It was a brainy, sophisticated, well researched media business inter-workings story.

My mind kept going toward Fox News and their condoning of conspiracy theories and urging white males, especially the older men, to treat anyone that is not their mirror image like they should be killed and or humiliated. Clark Maxwell = Tucker Carlson, etal.

Reggie and Gwen were a fabulous couple and Trevor was such an upstanding guy. I know everyone reading Flight Plan will love it as much as I did. BRAVO!! TB & MIRANDA

As a fake dating romance goes, this one’s elaborate BUT I freaking loved it 😂
I highly recommend this, the story and the characters were so so good. Lori Prince narrates it perfectly as always!
These authors are quickly becoming some of my favourites!

Written in third person with 2x POV’s. Ice Queen, Age Gap (11 years), Fake Dating, Billionaire Romance. 3x spicy scenes.

I don’t think this is what Erica Jong meant …

Fascinating journey of Reggie and Gwen, each with their own dark baggage. (Please excuse the pun … but I just couldn’t help it.). Their obstacles were met with a drive and determination to succeed. Well written and a very good read. I heartily, enthusiastically, and unequivocally recommend this and any other works by TB Markinson and Miranda MacLeod. Whether they coauthor or write alone, their books are not to be missed. Thank you Peace

Its not a lighthearted fake dating romance at all.
The story isn't only focused on the romance between Gwen and reggie. The story is filled with mystery and a lot of trauma.
Gwen.i wanted more from her, she is said be a runaway so surely she should have skills pertaining to this, so i wanted more skills shown from her that would've helped her finesse her way into some situations where she could find information, just wanted her to play a bigger role in this. Gwen's history is probably mentioned briefly, and when i think about it, i just don't know a lot about her at all.
Reggie, she needs therapy.
The romance aspect was okay, the relationship between Reggie and Gwen had started really early on in the book. Through fake dating ofc.
But i could already tell that they were smitten with each other. They fell in love super fast and I wanted more build up but they are cute together i guess.
The storylines were also just okay, there were parts in the book that were thrilling but there were also moments where i was bored out of my mind. There were some parts in the book where it didn't make sense and felt that they needed to be mlre fleshed out.I did not like the fact that the spyware was just dealt with like that in the end. I feel that everything ended too quickly. The ending was rushed.
I definitely hated more side characters than liked. I didn't actually like any of the side characters at all maybe only val. The father being forgiven irks me, he was not remorseful at all and did not even apologise for his actions.
So everything was just meh.

Spice Level: 3/5 Explicit Open-Door

I listened to this as an audiobook on Audible.

Sadly, I will admit it took me quite a few chapters in before it slapped me in the face with what real-world news network the Hawks News network was referencing. I might have picked it up quicker if I was reading it but while listening to it, it took me a little bit but once I picked it up, I loved it. I am more biased towards these types of books because it is the fake dating/fake engagement trope. Something about them just sucks me in and I eat them up. So if you love these types of books then you will like this one as well. This is the second book I have read (listened) to by T.B. Markinson and Miranda MacLeod and it has been another I have enjoyed.

No Spoilers

Reggie (Regina) Hawkins and her father, a billionaire media tycoon, are on a flight. They decided to forego the private jet and fly commercial this one time so they can look more approachable to the common people. Really bad turbulence causes Reggie to get up and run for the restroom and as she does, turbulence causes her to have a fateful meeting with Gwen Murphy, or at least her boobs. The plane has to land in Zurich due to being struck by lightning and they take time to get to know each other, and have sex. They go their separate ways, Reggie hoping to hear from Gwen and Gwen knowing she won't be contacting Reggie again. Reggie doesn't know Gwen is being hunted by a group who doesn't want her to release what information about them having access to advanced spyware. Circumstances happen to where Gwen is forced to get in contact with Reggie to get a job with the Hawks News corporation but there is a condition to that job, to marry Reggie for 2 years to help her gain control of the Hawks Media board. What happens with Gwen and the nefarious group after her? Does the ice around Reggie's heart melt for Gwen? Check the book out, you won't be disappointed.

T.B. Markinson & Miranda MacLeod have gained quite a following among sapphic readers, and for good reason. They know how to write fun and engaging stories, no matter the trope or setting. Readers can count on their stories to offer an escape from reality, allowing readers to immerse themselves in a world of passion, love and excitement. Moreover, the dynamic writing duo seems to grasp what it takes to not only hold their readers’ attention, but get them coming back for more.

Their success is based on understanding several key factors in storytelling. First and foremost, they create strong and relatable characters. These two seasoned writers know character development is essential in not only capturing the reader’s attention but keeping them engaged throughout the story. Flight Plan is just another example of this. In Reggie, they give readers a well-developed protagonist with flaws and vulnerabilities, and readers eat her up. Reggie adds depth to the narrative, making it more compelling. Readers enjoy watching her grow and overcome obstacles, especially in regards of her love for Gwen. Reggie and Gwen add fiery excitement to the storytelling; their chemistry is palpable, sparking a desire within readers to see their relationship flourish.

Secondly, Markinson and MacLeod understand a well-paced, intriguing plot is crucial in holding the reader’s interest. While romance novels often follow a predictable structure, it is the journey that matters, and Flight Plan’s storyline is central to that. It is a captivating one that incorporates elements of longing and tension, keeping the reader wanting more. Markinson and MacLeod excel at the push/pull of Reggie and Gwen’s relationship, creating anticipation and excitement as the story unfolds. There is a sense of passion, love and excitement created by these two characters’ romance, and it has an impact on its readers. Reggie and Gwen make transformations over the course of the story and demonstrate growth, providing complexity and dimension to the storytelling.

Most importantly though, Markinson and MacLeod grasp the importance of emotional depth and authenticity in romance; it’s vital. Flight Plan readers feel the intensity of Reggie and Gwen’s emotions, whether it’s heartache, joy or passion expressed in a scene. Markinson and MacLeod like to delve into the characters’ vulnerabilities and explore their fears and desires; it makes it feel authentic. Bottom line, these characters make mistakes, leading them to become better versions of themselves in the end, and readers are here for it.

Final remarks…

What makes a romance novel a fun and engaging read comes down to a combination of elements. Strong, relatable characters and an intriguing plot with emotional depth are certainly some key factors, and perhaps that’s why Flight Plan had zero turbulence. It offers readers an escape into a world of love, deceit, greed and passion, providing them with solid entertainment. Whether you’re a long-time fan of Markinson and MacLeod or new to their brand of storytelling, there is certainly something undeniably fun about getting lost in the pages of this well-written romance novel.

This was a fun combination of romance and… suspense I guess. I mean, there’s Reggie needing a fake spouse to sway the board of the family company… and a whole separate plot about Gwen being hunted because of some things she discovered at her past job working for EvilCo. It was a nice combination, though I thought the fake dating and boardroom drama was stronger.

I guess that’s probably because Gwen and Reggie were both great characters with some pretty strong chemistry… excellent elements for the fake-dating scheme. They both had past drama they were trying to escape, and the meet cute was outstanding. :) Plus Reggie’s family was well done (friends and foes and nutty third parties), which really worked for the fight over the family business.

The hunting-Gwen plot was fine — it added some tension to the story and gave some other elements to focus on. It just had much less developed characters and more loose ends. . So I wouldn’t read this as a thriller, but as a romance-with-extra-plot and just-don’t-think-too-hard-about-it it was great.

In the end, I was going to put it down and go to sleep, and I ended up staying up to finish it instead, so I guess that probably tells you all you need to know. :)

So. The book cover, authors and narrator really had me wanting to know how they managed to pull the book off. It's borderline hot and steamy. It seemed medium spice to me. But it's a compelling story. One of those rich family exec complications. The way the story plays out seems better than any of the ones I've read before (not the book itself, but how deep they dig into how ruthless the family members are to each other.) It's up there if not surpasses Ensnared Hearts, Under a Falling Star and Next in Line for Love. These two MCs are interestingly and brilliantly matched.

It's an awesome story with great potential for more suspense, but alas, the hurried resolution nipped it in the bud. This is one of the few times I wish it wasn’t a romance novel :)
A fauxmance with an awesome meet-cute and a bit of suspense thrown in. It makes for a great story but the ending felt a bit hurried, and I thought it could have been done with a bit more detailed resolution of all the conflicts.
Also, we never learned about the identity of the secret organization that obtained the sex video, which is a loose end.
Also (2), we never learned what happened with Simon, who was after Gwen, supposedly with a killing intent. Drying his funding is not going to stop a man like that, and he's sure to find other funders in exchange for his software. This is a major hole in the plot, not just a loose end.
I am hoping this means a sequel is on the way but I'm not sure that's the intention here.
